Are there any good widgets that displays facebook/twitter and other social networking updates like the stock feeds and update widget in TouchWiz? I am using ADW, which obviously doesn't have access to the Samsung widgets (stupid Samsung for putting them in a non-stock location). I really liked that widget, and would like something similar, instead of having to use separate widgets for Facebook and Twitter.
Scrollable widget is a plus!

I love pure messenger. Much better than the stock Samsung app in my opinion.
I too miss that TouchWiz Updates and Feeds app. I will give the Pure Messenger widget a try, seeing how I was looking for a good email widget as well.
Is the only problem with getting the Feeds and Updates widget to work the location? If so, where does Android keep the stock widgets in the filesystem? I am thinking it might be possible to move the F&U widget to where the stock widgets are located and use it from there. Anyone have any insight as to whether this would even be possible?

I don't think that's possible because those widgets are built into the tw ui. If that wasn't the case then we would've already had sense widgets running on adw and launcher pro.

Actually, I searched through astro file manager and I was able to find the apk for all of Samsung's Widgets. I do know you can copy the apk and edit it though, as I was able to to so. However, I don't know what or how to "fix" them to use outside of touchwiz.
Anyone willing to take a look at it?
I would be really interested to hear if anything comes about this, i too miss it and would like to know if it can happen.
Nobody is going to "take a look at it" because it is not possible.
Couldn't find a free version of pure messenger I always pay for the full version of apps I like, but never pay for apps that don't have a way to try before you buy. If there is a free version could someone through a link this way ? Thanks!

You always have a 24 hour period with the Android market. If you don't like it, uninstall/cancel and it won't charge your card. You only get to do this once per app though.

It comes up periodically on the -dev list that this is actually harmful to developers: if a user install it, and doesn't like it (or doesn't get to give it a proper test, or it has a bug on their device) and refund, thats it. They will never come back because it was broken and they don't get to try again.
If there is a trial/limited/ads version and that happens, they can try again when the bug is fixed (or when they have more time, or a better environment, etc.)
On the vibrant this likely happens a lot, since it has such performance issues to begin with - "I installed foo, and my phone started locking up, so I refunded. Now its been a week and it turns out it wasn't foo at all, but I can't try it again..."
Tmobile has a new app that does several social sites in one its pretty good, but not perfect for one it doesn't have an associated widget.

Yeah it really does need a widget.
You have 24 hours after purchasing an app on the android market to "return" it and get your money back.
You can buy Launcher Pro Plus. It has a scrollable Twitter widget that's the best you'll find in the market. Plus he's constantly updating and is adding Facebook support.

I'll add my vote for Pure Messenger. Dev is also one of the most reponsive out there, so if there is ever an issue, it won't be there long.
Widget does all gmail, email, sms, facebook, twitter, and scrolling messenger list widget is great in adw and lp, soon also livehome has scrollable widget support.
Livehome is fun enough to deal with the lack of scrollable widget support until it's done.

I've been using Pure Calendar for a while now. I love the naked look.
I just bought Pure Messenger to give it a shot. I really like the look of Sammy's widget but this would match up nice with my calendear.
Try an app called sotiallite it has twitter and facebook. It's a widget but not scrollible.

Hi.
Does anybody know of a good calendar widget? I've tried some and most require you to use their calendar application. I personally prefer the calender app that comes stock with the vibrant and would like a widget that pulled info from there but looks more like the stock widget on vanilla android.

"Pure Calendar Widget" is one of the few paid apps that I have used the entire time since buying them when I had my G1 until now.
Extremely customizable and will allow you to use pretty much any calendar app.
Thanks guys, I'm downloading both right now.
I highly recommend Pure Calendar Widget as well.. excellent application and worth the $

So I bought pure calander widget, as well as messenger widget, very very nice. Granted theres a ton of options, too much to get into right now but so far so good. Nice way to spend the little bit of funds in my account. and the HTC sense skins are a nice touch.
*accidental doublepost, sorry.
The one that comes with launcher pro plus is pretty good. But if you don't use LP I guess its not too helpful.
using agenda widget
started using pure calendar widget today.
3 questions:
-i see someone mentioned you can make it htc sense like? i dont see how???
-when i rotate screen, the widget goes blank for about 2 minutes...not like a little lag and re-draw with takes seconds. it goes completely white for about 1 or 2 minutes, then it all comes back. any ideas?
edit, 1 more question:
-what is the difference between pure calendar widget and agenda widget? pros or cons of each?

You have the option to skin the app. At the bottom in the config screen theres the option to Continue and Skin. Thats where I found mine.
Also which launcher are you using? ADW has an option to enable and disable scrollable widgets, which might be the cause of your problem.
I recently discovered Jorte, which has a good amount of widgets and the calendar app itself is excellent and will fully replace the stock one (my preference) - but I'm pretty sure you can have it open the stock one. It can also sync with Google Tasks although it has to be done manually.
cool, thanks.
in LP, it enabled scrollable widgets and that has seem to fix the going blank problem.
but i think im going to try the agenda widget as pure calendar widget just slows my phone WAY down. It just slows everything down. maybe if i turn off scrollable in pure calendar and lp it will work better...

Ditto, and worth the price.
You can put widgets on the lock screen, multiple sliders for different functions, and a separate wallpaper. Heck, I even have my LastFM widget there for easy access without unlocking and my camera for the same reason.
I was looking for something similar, i was missing the mail addon for lockinfo, but i settled for widget locker + executive assistant. i think it's the best combination. though still not entirely like lockinfo (i'd like to be able to mark emails as read without accessing gmail app).
Im playing with executive assistant and am really liking it.
Thank you all..
Another vote for executive assitant. It's really good once you understand all the settings.
There are some nice apps out there that do these things and Widget Locker is ok, however coming from the iPhone myself and having used intelliscreen, widget locker is lacking in comparison. There is an app however that is almost identical to intelliscreen and I thing in some ways even better, its Executive Assistant. There are 2 versions a free version with ads, and the pay version. I liked the app so much I payed for it, but I think if you give this a try you wont be disappointed its really sweet!!
I've been looking for something similar to this as well! I'll have to try executive assistant out...
Don't know if anyone will see this, but I found executive assistant in my search for an intelliscreen replacement. I don't know if it fully does it for me though. The marking as read thing is killing me. What are the settings you suggest to make it good? Also anyone miss tlert?

Nothing lacks in comparison to the Iphone or any app on the Iphone for that matter.
Is there anything out for ICS like this?
Still Widget Locker. Runs great on ICS Passion.

Clearly, you never owned a jailbroken iPhone with lockinfo on it if you are making that statement. Several things are lacking in Android such as:
- Mail Enhancer
- Color mail labels
- and LockInfo.
While some alternatives come close, they are not good enough.
One of the main things I've been missing since I made the switch from WebOS to android is that every launcher that I've found all of my apps are organized alphabetically. On the Palm pre you had multiple scrollable pages and you could organize your apps. All of your games on one, work on another, settings and utilities on another.
Does anyone know of a launcher or a way to make this possible? I made finding the right app so much quicker instead of scrolling through the alphabet or physically typing in to search for the app.
Any ideas or suggestions? Any other WebOS devotees feel me on this?

Not sure other than making app folders on your homescreen.

This is hard to put into words, so I apologize if my thoughts don't come out logically here...
I think that organizing your apps by type, like clusters of games and utilities, is what you use your homescreens for. The whole point of the app drawer is to organize them alphabetically. In my mind, if you could organize your app drawer by app type, your home screens and your app drawer would look almost identical. I'm not sure what the purpose of the app drawer would be.
I'm not sure if that made sense, but it does in my head, haha.

Dan, brilliant explanation and I agree with your point.
OP, using folders is all I can think of for you, as was already mentioned.

There's a way to add tabs to the bottom where you see All, Frequent & Downloads. I don't remember the exact syntax for it but if you find a custom ROM that has it just open their '/system/customize/MNS/default.xml' file and search for the name of their extra tab. Then just edit your ROM likewise to add the tabs you want
I'm aware of both methods, I've found having as many icons as I would like on the homescreen tends to bog it down a little bit. Obviously the necessities are on the homescreens but I HATE the app drawer. On the Pre you could organize them just like widgets. Hold it down, move it where you want and it moves all the others for you.
The alphabetical just drives me nuts. I was hoping there was a launcher that had this option to just drap and drop apps wherever I want them in the app drawer. Open app drawer and theres the main, essential apps. Next page, some of my favorite games, next page all my bookmarks.
WebOS really was a great OS, it certainly did multitasking leaps and bounds better than my EVO4gLTE with 4 times the ram...no apps equals game over though.

Thanks Scott, I'm glad that made some sense, haha. In my head it made sense, and then as I started to type it I was like, "uh oh, this isn't going well..." I hate that feeling of being unable to communicate what is in my brain.

I want to be able to add custom home screen widgets (the screens to the right of the clock with a maximum of ONLY 5). I have searched around only to say it isn't possible without any further explanation; however, would rooting the device make it possible, in some way, to achieve my request?
I can't be the only one that would like to have this ability or is this simply a ridiculous request?
that's a million dollar question, bumping it up
Closest thing I have seen so far is a $1.99 app called Wearable Widgets. It's OK, but you also need to download wearable Widgets clock app as well (free). You can find it under your gear manager get applications, search. I added a photo of the two.
It's OK as I said, little clunky and seems to refresh flicker upon watch wake up. Overall I'd say 5/10 stars.
