I reset my device as it was acting up, and not its stuck on gears and i don't know what to do.
I'm from UK and bought it on EE network. the device has since been unlocked and switched networks
If i restore from the EE rom i found, will this relock? and if it does, can i unlock it again, same code etc?
or is there something better i could do?

HI,
your phone WON'T lock again...ones unlocked it remains unlocked no matter what ROM you're going to flash.
Mine was too locked to AT&T and successfully tried different carrier and non-carrier ROMS.
Fixed
thanks for reply. didn't have much choice but to flash it anyway lol. So I did it before reply.
it fixed no problems, and managed to get amber update at the same time, not my intention, but i'm not complaining :good:
Cheers

Hey Guys,
Hopefully someone can help me out since I can't seem to find answers anywhere to my problem. I got an unlock code from T-Mobile but when I put a foreign sim into the phone is says "invalid sim, 0 attempts remain". I got the phone on craigslist so I'm guessing whoever had it before me tried unlocking it with the wrong code too many times. I have the right code now, how do I reset the attempts? I can't believe that the phone is hard locked and there isn't anything I can do about it. It's pretty frustrating so any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!!!
really???? no one knows anything about this issue?
So people here know how to put different operating systems on phones but no one knows if it is possible to reset the sim unlock counter?????
the phone is hard locked and (certainly in most cases) can now only be unlocked by using a hardware unlocker. (for most phones, you get three attempts via the keypad, and a further 10 via a hardware connection normally.)
thanks for the reply! what exactly does hardware unlocking mean? would i still need to use the code given to me by t-mobile?
speak to a phone shop (or better yet speak to t mobile first)
have you tried to restore the phone to factory(not a hard reset). I would try going to Tmobiles website and try to update the rom...

^is for US phones I just did mine today because the guy that put android on it removed the unlock screen and I was unable to unlock the phone. And no one on here was able to answer any questions for me so don't feel bad.
Got it unlocked last night! turns out the sim card i was using was locked. i tried a different one and it let me key in the code. thanks for all the help!
now that the phone is unlocked would doing a hard reset lock it back up?

good stuff. No, flashing / hard resets will not ever lock the phone now.
Hello, I just recently got an Atrix off of ebay. I want to get into playing witih android phones. I've already read numerous threads, got the android sdk, rsd lite, etc.. I've been reading about flashing, and to be careful of what you flash based on what firmware versions are already on the phone.
The problem I have is the phone is subsidy locked, but it's locked in a way that not even AT&T sims work. It always asks for the pin, and the code AT&T gave me (they stated it was the subsidy unlock code) fails. So I looked at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356121
However, I have no idea what's on this phone. I can't access any settings menu in the phone, as it sticks to the "Emergency Calls Only" screen. i don't know what firmware is on the phone, what radio is on it, etc.. I don't want to try to flash a radio file and have it brick my phone. I've read quite a bit this past hour, but I'm at a crossroads here and don't know what to do to figure out what is exactly on this phone. If I knew what I had exactly, I'd be a lot more confident in flashing things.
I do know the bootloader is unlocked (the phone boots saying "Unlocked"). That's all I know :\
EDIT: Disregard. It took me another 6 hours but I finally got everything figured out (had to boot it with no sim to view things, then from there I got into it all). Rooted, CWM, flashed the bell radio and my sim works for now. Thanks for the valuable info that's listed here!
Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
hey,
I do have the atrix which is netwoek subsidy locked.
I even cant use at&t. I am outside us currently.
Could you tell me how did you flashed bell radio & where u got that.
Thanks
I bought this tablet 2 months ago in our local t-mobile. And everything was fine until 2 weeks ago when it suddenly started loosing gsm signal.
At first i thought it had something to do with me rooting it. So i tried repairing it 2 times but with no luck. After that i tried downgrading to 4.1.2 and that didn't work either.
So basically i can be online (surfing, downloading etc.) for few minutes before it drops gsm signal (no signal icon in statusbar) and after few minutes it comes back and then it drops again...
I'd like to know if it can be fixed without taking it to nearest sony repair service. Did anyone encounter similar problem and manage to fix it?
btw bootloader is locked (unlock allowed: no) so flashin another kernel/ROM is out of the question...

Have you tried factory resting it ? Also you can unlock the boot loader just search xda im sure ive seen a guide somewhere ? i was going to say take it back to Sony as it might be a hardware problem but since you have rooted it your warranty has been voided...

Well firmware flashing via SUS repair option usually does that for me.. but yeah, i tried factory reset as well. And about bootloader unlocking i've been searching for a guide ever since i bought it. No such luck... Apparently if it's "bootloader unlock allowed: NO", it's meant to stay that way. At least until someone finds a way around it.
I've got a vague idea about how does rooting work and that tells me if i did a complete wipe and flashed my tablet, how can they detect it?
I mean.. it's a complete reinstall, how are they supposed to know that the tablet was rooted on previous firmware if it currently isn't?

Well im no pro, but don't they have some kind of binary counter witch tells the manufactures the devices has been rooted ? i know that's how Samsung goes about identifying if the devices has been rooted... But Sony im not too sure, Also your theory does hold ground, if you clean install from the ground up then Sony shouldn't be able to tell, if the device has been rooted, also you do know that Sony have a guide on there website on how to unlock the boot loader ? Here check it out http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/unlock-bootloader/

I know about that website. That's how i unlock every sony i come across that needs unlocking
But it also says if the "Bootloader unlock allowed" is NO in service menu, then there is no hope for unlocking the bootloader. At least not officially.. until someone comes with a solution for that..
So i managed to get some extra details on that problem.
Apparently i can't get LTE signal anywhere. And when i get LTE, connection automatically drops.
Could it be that the LTE chip is faulty? Does that mean that i'll probably get another device... because somehow i doubt that theyll try to replace the motherboard
I purchased this phone today. It is network unlocked.. It was on T-Mobile, and now on Sprint.. What I find funny, when the phone was first turned on, up came the T-Mobile Splash screen. Then when I installed my sim card for Sprint, and had it activated, up came the Sprint Splash screen, and all of it's bloat glory.. I did get a great deal as it was new and perfect condition and it only cost me $288 with box accessories etc..
Under dev options, I do not see anything for OEM unlock so I can install either custom roms or debloat this phone of what I do not need.. Model number is SM-G965U. From what I gather that is not a valid Sprint Model number nor T-mobile.. I'm wondering if this was a factory unlocked version, first set to T-mobile, then Sprint when I activated it today.. Total call on this phone was Zero and very little data use..

They are multi carrier. Everytime a new sim is inserted it personalizes for a new carrier. All the us models are the same hardware. There is no OEM unlock. No custom roms locked bootloader permanently. you can root 8.0 only no 9 no 10. Look up extreme syndicate down in the snap dragon section. Please note your model is a g950u or g965u. Not to be confused with the g9600 or g9650 which are snapdragon but of other countries with unlocked bootloader. Cannot be interchanged.

So I assume, that since it is network unlocked, and all the bloat is based off of each carrier.. Will a factory reset get rid of it all. Or do I have to go the adb route? I have no issue with it, but can not stand all the bloat I have always tried to stay away from.. And if you look at it.. It basically is no different than a carrier branded phone.. Once you pay off it, you and have the UICC unlocked, like this phone already is. Put if I had bought a international version, I'm sure it would never have worked here in the US...

You can either root 8.0 to debloat or adb to disable it. Factory reset wont get rid of none of it. The International version o believe supports every carrier except sprint dont have the proper bands. I'm pretty sure it can do verizon. You also have the option of flashing the us U1 firmware which is us unlocked version with no carrier bloat but it still has locked bootloader.
How come when using adb, and I type adb devices it come back with a series of numbers, and then says unauthorized.. I have used in the past and was very simple.. USB debugging it enabled.
Forget it. I figured it out. And debloated this thing just like I want.

Even thought he bootloader is locked, at least the bloat is gone semi.. If I need it back ( will not) I can just do a factory reset. LOL Time to install youtube vanced.
Question cpu z says I have a Snapdragon845. To bad it would have been nice to tweak it, if the bootloader was unlockable.

Yea I got the g9650 unlocked bootloader snapdragon and it's right. Stout. and great battery life even though it's a older device
This phone was given to me by a friend, he says he got drunk, changed his lock code and doesn't remember. After a factory reset it just stays on a screen asking for a Tracfone SIM and he kept his SIM & moved halfway across the country.
I just wanna know if there is any means around this?
I called Tracfone, gave them the IMEI & they told me the phone will be eligible for unlock in about a month, I don't wanna wait as I can't root my S22 Ultra and I just wanna get back in the rooting scene, LOL
I know, call me impatient....
I apologize, I didn't notice a post w/ same issue but on a Cricket phone whereas mine is Tracfone but same situation.

What's the Model and build number? Is the bootloader locked or unlocked? Without knowing much detail I'd recommend finding the firmware that matches your phone and fastboot flash that or at least TWRP recovery if you can find one that works with yours and then you'd have more flexibility. This is all if your bootloader has been unlocked already though and if it hasn't I'd start looking through some threads on how to do that if you don't already know how to. If it's possible with your variant too I know carrier devices are pretty strict on unlocking the bootloader but Idk about tracphone variants.
It's not unlocked.
It's the Tracfone Moto G Power
Look up a thread here on xda about unlocking the bootloader for Motorola devices and come back here if you can unlock it. You'll have to do that before you can even flash anything such as partitions like a custom recovery.
