Hello,
I am on a rooted ME7 (sadly updated from MDK accidentally). I'd like to start fresh and do a full factory reset with a full wipe. Can someone point me in the right direction on a post or "how to"? All I've found was a no-wipe method.
Thanks,
K

Yeah, unfortunately I knew that. I just want to wipe my phone as clean as can be and start fresh with ME7. Full wipe.
Thanks!

You can wipe data/factory reset in stock recovery (from power off hold down volume up and power until it vibrates, then release) or you can do it through the settings in backup and reset. I'm not on stock so I don't remember its exact location in the settings, but it's there somewhere.

I have read several threads and watched youtube videos, but they dont say if I should remove Supersu before flashing odin or after - or if that is even necessary. Im on ME7 and want to do a factory restore.
Thanks

As long as you dont use a no wipe image itll be wiped out in the process. If you go the odin route.

You should just ODIN back to stock without removing it. It erases SuperSU, so you wouldnt be able to unroot after you go back to stock anyways.

I plan on flashing the file through odin then doing the factory reset to wipe everything and start from the beginning. Im running into a problem where my mobile data is off when the phone starts.
Thanks

When you odin everything will be wiped already. You should only need to do a factory reset if your phone wont boot. I have had the time problem before too, if you toggle auto date time off then back on it should correct it. Also you posted in this wrong section, should of been in thr Q and A section.

Sorry about the wrong area. And that should have been mobile data is off. Thanks for the help.
I'm trying to clean up my S4 to sell, and so I wiped data/factory reset and did format data. I then reflashed HyperDriver 14 and now I get stuck at the Galaxy S4 splash screen. I do still have access to get into TWRP however. Is there something I can do from TWRP to fix this? I have tried to fix permissions and it says FAILED. Do I need to do an ODIN flash at this point? I don't know what baseband I have, but since I have TWRP that was functional does that imply that I have the MDK baseband?
Thanks for any help!

Try another factory data reset and wipe /cache and /dalvik. If that doesn't work I would double the check the md5 of the HD rom file to make sure it's not corrupted. If the file is still good then you need to reflash the rom but this time do a factory data reset, wipe /system, wipe /cache, wipe /dalvik, and then install the rom, and it SHOULD boot.

Yeah I tried that again and have done that a few times, still no luck. The MD5 checks out OK. I could try another ROM tomorrow.
I'm on TWRP 2.5.0.2, is there any benefit to upgrading to 2.6.x.x? Would that help me possibly?

No, stick with 2.5, it works better on these phones than 2.6.
If your going to sell it then it doesn't get much better than just Odin mdk and re reroot it . probably take 10 minutes. Just my two cents lol

Is that one a no wipe or full wipe? I tried downloading it but the link is slow.
I did try to flash a no wipe MDK image and it seems I'm still stuck at the same spot.

I believe that one is a complete wipe.
If you have no luck with the no wipe tar, you may want to try the one that does wipe and back up all your internal storage.

Yeah I'll try the one you linked. Just gotta wait 5 hours for it to download. At least I don't have anything to back up, its all wiped already.

Finally downloaded, flashed, and worked like a charm. Thank you!
Where can I get a quick download of the stock MK2 besides SamMobile? I can't find it anywhere besides there and it takes like two hours or more to download. Would be great if I could get this without a data wipe too. Thanks

There ya go, just pop it into odin and flash.

Another quick question...I'm running stock rooted MK2 and want to trade my phone back to VZN to "edge up" to another phone. I currently have the custom icon on startup so will running the full wipe stock tar get rid of this? I have already flashed the no wipe and still have it

Flashing the full wipe tar should remove the custom icon. The initial boot up screen after successfully flashing the full wipe tar will have the custom icon but dont worry, after the phone boots up, reboot it and it should be gone.

I encrypted my device, now all it says is to input the password, and when I do enter the correct password it just says, try again. It was rooted with some stuff deleted so I tried using odin to flash it from NG6 to NC5 It was a NG6 prior to encryption . Thanks

So now I updated it to NG6 and am just getting to the red Verizon boot up screen and then no more activity just stays lit. Any help seriously appreciated you will prevent me from making this thing a paperweight.
Did you do a full wipe Odin might help. You could try a factory reset from stock recovery. Both of these with wipe everything but your ext sdcard but is probably your only hope

I used Nand and erase (is this what you mena by a wipe?) all in odin but still only gets to the red verizon screen and stops... also how do I do a factory reset I pressed the poawer home key and volume down but it only warns me about a costume os and then puts me into download mode.
Do the full wipe method here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735172
Sorry for slow response. Been busy.

The wait was worth it, SUCCESS thank you so much, I guess the PIT file was the key didn't know about it or what it does any idea? And what exactly does encrypting your phone do? I was curious and probably will never do it again after this incident unless its worth it.
I think the pit file basically rebuilds the partitions on sense wiping everything I think. Encryption makes the phone more secure but I wouldn't use it unless it's completely stock myself.

Is it ok to factory rest this device while rooted? Or should I unroot to stock 1st? I've spent about an hour on here with no results so figured I'd ask.

If you mean doing a wipe data inside TWRP that is fine.

No I meant like the factory reset through the hboot screen, like you would do with a stock phone.
