Sideload Rom Install Issue - HTC Droid DNA

Hi, I'm having an issue installing a rom through sideload. I accidentally did a factory reset through bootloader and now I cant access the Storage to put the Rom Zip file to the "SD" part of storage.
Im using the Droid_DNA_All-In-One_Kit_v2.0 and when I start it up i get this error message.
( cannot openC:\Users\"myPCname"\AppData\local\Temp\temp.tmp to retrieve the working directory )
Can anyone please Help me with this?
Thank you much!

[Q] E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip-Samsung Vibrant

Hey everybody,
I apologize in advance if this post is a duplicate but I have tried searching for a solution and still lost. Here is what I did: I used the Odin to restore stock rom, then re-rooted using the one click method, then downloaded a rom from theunlockr.com, then used rommanger to install it. My rom has gave me no problems but now when I try to reboot into recovery to install something else(Like the 2.3 keyboard or a lagfix) i get this error:
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted
Can someone please help me? Thank you, BTW I have a Samsung Vibrant running axura-froyo-rom
I had the same problem too.
When I put update.zip at the root directory of internal memory... once I restart the phone (not get into the recovery mode), this file is missing / dissapear. So... I always got this message too :
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted
anybody can help us pleaseeeeee
I got my phone to factory settings using odin then i rerooted my phone and flashed the same custom rom back on and it worked. Try reflashing your phone, backup first, might work.

thanks for reply.
how to use factory setting using odin ? tick the "re-partition" box ?
can you explain to us step by step please ?
I'm so frustated
Did you guys delete the update.zip after rooting?
If you do not see
sdcard/update.zip using a file manager, download the update.zip from my noob guide, move it to internal memory and then try to flash CWR.
Also, look in the bottom of the noob guide (last few posts) for a solution to a RECENT issue with CWR... I assume whatever Koush did in the last update is causing this problem? BUT, there is a fix posted by another XDA user... just a matte of downloading the file and putting it in the right place.

listen to s15's post....he knows what he is talking about. i followed his noob guide in his sticky and everythign worked perfectly! his vids are also very helpful. one thing i have found that works a lot as well is if you download ROM Manager from the market and then click on "fix permissions"... don't know if this would help in this situation but i have had that fix weird stuff.

yeah this, the update.zip is ESSENTIAL for your phone to run the clockwork recovery, it stores all the things needed, and when you click "reinstall packages" your system goes in update.zip and looks for what to boot up and finds CWR and boots that so you see that screen.
Don't delete it if you did.
i have tried numerous times to root, but cant seem to get update.zip file in right place, can anyone help? thanks. challenged noob!!

When you usb into your phone it needs to be in the initial area of your sdcard.
You might have a bad update.zip file. Two things, verify the md5(if possible) from where you got it and check the properties and make sure it's not names update.zip.zip. The later is very common.
Try this method too btw, when I Odin back to stock I always use this one to root again. Follow the 'Automated Method' area.

you will need these drivers AND set your phone to debugging mode (settings/applications/development check USB debugging).

hey all,
Newbie here trying to flash a ROM, i am running into this same error, i have tried everything here and i have one question (might be a stupid question) but my root sd folder is called SD/, not SDCard/ ...is this a path error?
Please note it file must be in the internal card, not the SD card.
This step drove me nuts.
"2. Copy the update.zip (and the ROM) to the INTERNAL SD (not the external SD Card). sdcard/ " (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732458)
i ran into the same problem...how do i get from 3e to CWR?
here's what's shown in my vibrant directory: Android, DCIM, external_sd, LOST.DIR
i dont have an internal sd (the card) so it's not shown?
the path i got error on: /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip
1. when i tried to "reinstall packages" i keep getting the error that the update.zip file cant be found. should i create a folder for it or something? i think it's a matter of pathing but i cant find out the right place to put the file...(to get from 3e to CWR)
2. i see people suggesting boot with odin or sth like that...does that solve my problem and how do i do that?

You definitely have an internal sd card. Use Astro file manager or something similar and put update.zip on the root of internal sd card, meaning not in a folder. It should look like sdcard/update.zip. If you are having the 3e mismatch recovery issue read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423

i go to the link that you linked and ran the script. then i download the update.zip file at the noob guide with a slimbean 4.2.2 rom and addons. this time i would just put it in the root folder (technically not in any folder). when i try to reinstall packages, the screen shows that it is "replacing stock recovery with clock work recovery"... but then it would go back to the 3e.
so...i guess putting the files in the root folder is correct. but someone it still wont let me get tot CWR...

You have to reinstall packages twice for it to work properly. It is normal to not work the first time, just reinstall packages again and you should be good to go. If you keep having issues you should just flash back to stock 2.1 with Odin and go from there.

I think the reason your post has not been answered is because we don't know exactly what you're asking. Also most answers are already posted. You just have to search and read them.
I'm not sure what you're doing myself, but I think you need to use Odin to flash CWM recovery and then use that recovery to flash ROMs, kernels, etc...
Since I really don't know what you're trying to do, you need to make sure what I said is REALLY what you need to do. By searching and reading you will find your answer.

tq very much.. right now, i'm trying to do just like u say, if it works, i'm in your debt..
what i meant was, that my android recovery system cannot detect the path to SD card, since the gt-p7500 did not have any SD Card slots, so i can't flash any .zip files from my tab.. Thanks so much..

One of the partitions on your tablet is mounted as /mnt/sdcard (or /sdcard). You normally push files there using USB from your computer, either using "adb push" or mounting the sdcard as a media device on the computer.
Stock recovery does not let you choose a file from the /sdcard directory. I think the errors you're seeing is that the stock recovery isn't finding the files it's looking for.
You'll need to install Clockwork Mod recovery if you want to flash custom ROMs.
Galaxy Tab doesn't have an SD Card slot, so anything with external storage/mounting USB/ etc won't work in recovery. Flashing a ROM is possible because the data partition is read and treated as SD Card. If you need to add something to your tab via USB while it's in recovery, you'll need to use the Android Debug Bridge and type adb push, then the file, then the destination.
Example:
Code:
adb push rom.zip /sdcard/

[Q] Looking for help

So I know realize i shouldn't have attempted rooting or flashing but thats all hindsight. I'm before even a noob but hoping you guys can help me out.
Currently have a m8 att that I think is savable but I cannot figure out what to do next. I never made a backup and I'm stuck without a rom installed. I believe it is rooted and I do have twrp installed but am failing when trying to flash a rom. I'm willing to pay somebody to help me if they are willing to walk me through fixing it. Any help or direction is appreciated. I have been reading different threads but honestly I'm just getting more confused.
Thanks in advance.
Can you boot into recovery? Does adb see your phone when connected to the computer? If so you can push a rom to your phone through adb and then install it. It happened to me. The guide to doing this is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929

Yes I can boot onto recovery and adb does see it. Can I just copy a rom to sd card and install from there or does it have to be pushed? I have copied them to sd card and tried but it keeps failing to install.

Yes you could give that a shot but that's odd that they won't install from sd card. Have you tried more than one? Did you flash a GPE rom? May need to look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2721435

Does this help at all?
Make sure the MD5 checksum of the ROM .zip you downloaded matches the file on your SD card.
Also, wasn't there an issue with a certain version of TWRP not flashing from an external SD card and the fix was just flashing an updated version? So also make sure you have the right version of TWRP on the device.

Copy a working rom to where your adb and fastboot are located connect phone via twrp run this command
adb push nameofrom.zip /sdcard/. exactly as shown here change nameofrom.zip to the name of the rom your trying to flash...this will put a rom on your internal storage and it then can be flashed via twrp

I tried this by copying cwm-supersu-iq6.zip to SD card and choosing update from SD card in cmw mode then it shows
error :invalid partition
Did CWM actually install correctly? While in recovery, you would see ClockworkMod or CWM and the version number somewhere.

Did you search through the thread to see if anyone had the same error? And it helps to say what the error is so someone might be able to point you in the right direction a little quicker.

SD formatted as internal storage

With my external SD formatted as internal storage, CR Droid Rom file can't be found for me to flash it. No matter where I put the zip file, I can't find it when I go into Recovery. Any ideas?

Both storage showing in recovery??
Make sure you didn't change from zip to rar..
In Recovery under storage it has the internal storage which includes the SD card and then a small external of 15mb. And yes, it's still a zip file.

Yes. .
Download recovery.IMG and flash it by this command..
fastboot flash recovery recovery name.img
I downloaded the latest twrp and the filename is twrp-3.1.1-0-kiwi. Using that command I added . img at the end of the filename. I received an error in ADB stating it cannot load that file. I just t looked at the instructions and I forgot to wipe the system and cache before installing the new CR Droid zip. Does that make a difference? Should I do that and try installing the new version of the Rom? Or will the issue of not being able to see the Rom zip file still be there?

No need to wipe anything..
Rename recovery to just twrp.IMG and then try again..
Twrp you are flashing should be in the adb folder..
Renamed it to just twrp and got the same error message. What I was asking about wiping the cache and system is if I want to install the latest CR Droid Rom. I really appreciate your help and please don't feel like you're committed to helping. I may just see if I can flash the new ROM using adb

It shouldn't give that error...
You can flash new twrp with old twrp too..
Just copy it in SD and and click installed/image and locate and flash it in recovery partition....
Caution don't flash it in boot partition..
No you cannot flash custom ROM via adb fast boot... You need a twrp recovery to flash that...
I gave the TWRP app another read try and it worked. I was able to update twrp and that allowed me to install the new ROM. Thanks for your tips and help!
