Ofcoure lost features. is an old verision with low mb for your phone. if you see the facebook app today is 50 mb ++

The only feature missing is that you cant use offline mode ... Other things are old styled but not so bad... If u dont need new appearance and features it's good. As I remember it uses 10-15 mb RAM

Only works on arc?

It's working on all devices... It's official version not moded...

Screenshots would be appreciated.

Thanks. If they work, then I usually prefer older version of Android apps because they tend to be less bloated. I barely use Facebook anyway, so it'll do.

It don't have recently added features (check google play for news) and use probably use more data transfer because it don't use cache like new one.

This version is excellent. I used it until few days ago.
Unfortunately, it's required to update the app for continue using FB App

What you mean require update? It's all on you... If you have automatic updates checked in Google play store it updates automatically... Maybe that is your problem. This app doesn't require ent update, I've been using this app for 1 year, still I haven't updated... Reinstall and continue using this version...

it's not true when you said that it only consumes 15Mb of RAM usage. I installed it and checked the RAM usage, it was 56MB.

New Android Market

The new market is much much better looking than the old one.
Here is the link to the .apk file of the market. Just download and install it as any other app.
http://www.multiupload.com/PNTKMUYQUM
If you're having problems after installing it (I did not have any problem) or you don't like it. Goto Settings>>Applications>>from the upper tab choose All App>>go to market app and click on Uninstall updates. This should get you back to the old Market.
Thanks for the link. It takes a sec to get used to, but looks pretty slick.

question : 1. this release of android market stops the update process if installed on stock 2.3.3GB?
2. Android market will auto-update to this new version or it is available only for some countries? I live in Romania for example.
thank you

This update will be rolled out to all countries and has been released in very few countries (I think only some carriers in US and Canada).
Regarding your first question, I don't think so, but you can never be sure until the next update is released.

I think it cannot break the updates bcoz the market updater is a separate app, not within the vending apk.

Works fine, but I see (?) Japanese text in app info tab for some apps (eg. Facebook app). But, my system language settings is english. Will be difficult to know about the app.

Cyanogenmod 10. Updates

As you guys know cyanogenmod 10 gets updates every other day. and we download 150-200 mb everyday for just 5mb updates. so here where a handy program called CyanDelta comes to play. it just download 5-15 mb od data and updates cyanogenmod.
how it does this is by downloading parts that are updated only. great for slow net or caped net users

[APP] Older versions of Facebook for Android

As we all know, Facebook for Android sucks. 1.9.12 was the last that worked for me allowing sharing, statuses, etc before the latest version broke all that.
The following link contains downloads of old versions.
Delete current Facebook for Android (if latest)
DL apk and install like normal
DO NOT UPDATE through play store when it says you have an update. You'll be back at the new crap version.

@ OP- thanks!
It would be worth mentioning, that many other older apps work in devices not supported by googlePlay service.
For those wanting the last version before the current UI layout, the v7.0.0.22.28 are the one and its the best. Its when FB added capability to post pix in comments and other features, luckily, before the UI change. http://techloverhd.com/2014/03/facebook-7-0-0-22-28-app-download-for-android-apk/

Thanks bro, this fixed a lot of issues on my Galaxy nexus
well it seems that version 7 works for those who are missing messenger inside the facebook app it works well, good for old device
I've just been resetting/clearing faceaches data and cache to bypass the messenger download necessity, yes you still get the soon moving to messenger warning prompt but still not using messenger and on latest release again lol.
Regards as always
I wonder why are they pushing the messenger app now.
They been doing it for months ;(
Regards as always
Just use google translate this site. It does have facebook 3.7 version which didn't request the messenger and the file size 30% smaller than current version.
http://www.thailandgadget.com/viewtopic.php?tid=61
Hope this help.
well i guess facebook closed the loophole fb 7 stopped working without messenger.... i would try 3.7 to see if it works

Fix for batery draining on android devices

Hi
This is a working fix for those who facing to fast batery draining and the reason is like in the photo (android system)
This fix it will work only on rooted devices.
Steps are:
1- install root Uninstaller and grant permission in superuser, or super su (depending on what you have installed on your device)
2- select google+, and first make a backup to google+
3- uninstall google+
4- restart your device
Later Edit : before I try this method, I was trying only to remove cache and data from app google+, but without my permission google+ start to activate again.
Feel free to ask if you have problems with this fix.

If you have Google+ as a system app, then you need to either remove it and install from the Play Store so Greenify can hibernate it best or get the Greenify Donation package that allows hibernation of /system apps.

I gave a free and a paid solution. Not everyone has the ability or $ to buy apps, but sometimes, depending on your needs, it might be the only option to get everything working how you want / need. Just the way it works.
And no, not almost everyone has their device rooted here. It's pretty common, and probably a much higher % here vs other forums, but definitely not like as high as you are assuming.
Here's an even easier option if you don't use the app at all, aren't rooted. and are on anything that has JellyBean or higher - disable it in Settings / App Manager.

Also try clearing the cache of the app in the Application Manager in Settings. Some users say the cache can get out of hand and mess things up - like 100s of MBs. You can also try uninstalling any updates of the app as most people that report this problem only have it tied to certain updates and rolling back or installing a different version of it helps. Also, make sure the location reporting feature is unchecked if issues persist as that can be another thing.
