This is a topic for all of your stupid questions to be answered rather than in the dev topics which is clearly pissing developers off ^^
Ask whatever here, just NOT IN THE DEV TOPIC!
First question: Why do you created this topic? You really think that noobs will post their noob questions in this topic? Noob is noob and nobody can tell him where they have to place their stupid question.
If you don't test it you can't say that it doesn't work
What's a noob ? ^^

In french : "peut se traduire par "débutant" mais a plutôt un caractère dépreciatif => intraduisible quoi ^^"
But I think you are joking
Noob's question: If you port Android 2.3 on Wave succesfully, does will work ICS without problems? Need whether working with GSM, Camera, drivers again?
Sorry for my noob's english language
Noob question, already posted on dev but not answeared:
Is the GB a Cyanogen Mod version? I heard of something like that sometime ago in Froyo thread and never heard of it again... So when I say GB i thought it was it....
So is it a GB CM version? IF it isn't, why don't just make one? Wouldn't it be better?

When the kernel (drivers) are made then it works more or less for all versions.
The main probleme is then to port the new version and that is a hard job too (this is what Trigrouzen is doing).
I'm not a dev but I think that what I told you is right or something near the truth.

No it is a Galaxy S ROM.
Make a Cyanogen ROM is work and devs have to choose between them since it is a lot of work and that making 2 versions is not resonable as they are no full port for the moment.
I'm not sure but I think that porting a Galaxy S firmware is easier since the kernel is based on this device.
See! Trick worked on some more intelligable noobs lol
But those who are noobs that have sense ask here too! At least then there is less clog up in dev topics...

It annoys me that me, as a noob, that I can quite happily read the first post of the Dev topics and not litter it with endless "when this, when that" questions because they ask you not to. Why can't people understand this? When an update is ready for release it will be said at the beginning of the topic. Stop asking questions and let the Devs get on with what they are doing, which most of the time they do FOR FREE.
If a free service to which you have no obligation slightly inconveniences you then you aren't really in a position to complain about it. simple.
Anyways I'm out, sold my waveII on ebay for a fair buck and now moving onto the galaxy W which looks quite interesting.
Keep up the good work Razyre! You've given this project the jump start it needed.

Your question goes to far in the future since the most important thing is to get a good kernel ( the Badadroid team is working on this)
For the moment Tigrouzen is on the way to port Gingerbread.
Then maybe later it can be port if the project is a success.
To sum up, ICS is not the priority.

Flash this "surprise kernel" with flashtool and see the magic

NOTE :
1. This was something sort of proof-of-concept. I tried doing this in my spare time.
2. I do NOT have enough time/knowledge to debug and fix this. This is not fully working.
3. This is just for fun. Once fun is over (in a day or 2) i request Mods to transfer this thread to apps/themes section.
4. As a long time contributor of the X10 forums, you can be assured that this will not brick your device, though if you are uncertain, please do NOT flash it. In any way i am not responsible for any calamity.
5. Please flash back to the kernel you were previously using after having fun with this.
6. If any dev wants to continue this work and finish it please PM me, I'll tell you how to set up the repo and compile this.

Honestly, it looks very promising. I personally don't like the current touch recovery for X10. It takes too long to find a file to flash only viewing one file at a time while scrolling. I always select good old original CWM because I can scroll to a file much faster. Also, I heard Championswimmer was about to release a new updated kernel. Any truth to that rumor?

As the topic says, I would like to learn more about ROM developing, unbricking and troubleshooting Android.
I've found some tutorials about these, but I still have some question.
1. How ROMs are made for specified devices, why would the same ROM for different devices vary?
2. Can I port certain ROM like CyanogenMod for my devices based on a clean AOSP for my devices?
3. Is it necessary to use Linux for the development?
4. How people develop ROM for the devices? ( following q1, how they find the differences?)
5. What programming language I should know? (I do programmed with C#)
6. Is there any reading for such subjects? If there is, what are the suggestions.
Well these should be all of my questions =D
edit: I am interested in communication between C#(Windows) and android, anyone any ideas?
Every device have difernet specifications hence the roms change according to it so we have to tailor it according to tge device
And about the use of linux the android is based on linux platform so for more developments we shld hav linux but for simple works you can use windows with help of cygwin

so android is not linux? hmm, I will remember that :good:
another question, I tried running 'dd' command from adb shell but it failed (if on the devices with terminal, then yes), what's the problem?
Lets say Android is Linux's half-brother. About your other question I'm not sure, but for the people that can answer it you'll need to provide more information. One thing I do know is you want to be very careful with dd commands, unless you know what you're doing you could have problems. Problems like a phone that'll never boot again, caution is suggested.

Is it just like UNIX and LINUX? Alright then, I'll take time to investigate into it.
Hi!
Please, I wish to know if someone have some tip to get working the screen wakeup with the volume key for the Huawei Ascend G700!!
I recently aquired a this cellphone (Mediatek Quadcore 1,3 ghz 5" IPS screen), in my opinion a nice device for the bucks.
I come from a Huawei Ascend Y300, with the volume key wakeup mod in it (i must to thank the great help i received from the user VavanL in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44264908#post44264908 about the volume beep in the screen unlock.
If someone can help me in this i will thank him a lot, cause is very annoying for me always unlocking the device with this little and weak power on button...I remember the key of the thing was this 3 system files
system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
system/usr/keylayout/querty.kl
system/framework/android.policy.jar
Thanks everyone!

Hi VavanL!!!!!!
Long time i see you!
Sadly the G700 (great device by the way) is stuck in android 4.2.1 (waiting to mediatek free the code for the soc).
I see in the mod for the Y300 some devs add the line "WAKE" on the volume key.....but, im stuck with the android_policies.jar, i dont know how to modify them.

(Sorry if my english may not be clear , I'm french)
No, it is not possible. The J6 uses different display drivers.
I am currently working on porting a ROM from the J5 Pro with great features, but I am still trying to eliminate some bugs.
I may share a BETA soon, but I don't know yet.
So far I don't think any other recognized developer will pick this device up. It offers nothing new to previous phones, some would say it is just a waste of a phone lol
