Bootloader Unlocked, rooted and CWM Recovery from the Facebook Forum.
Just flashed Mokee 4.4.4 to my Huawei G525 and discovered a minor Bug.
Connecting USB to device for using USB to Copy Files between Device and PC causes reboot.
After reboot the Connection can be used until disabling it.
Same procedure each time Using USB-Connection.
I was amazed how fast the g525 can operate using mokee.

- Recognized tha WIFI tethering is missing in Mokee, but wifi_tether_v3_3-pre2.apk can be used.
-GPRS not working for 2 SIM-Cards.
- sudden Reboot when choosing USB-Drive whe connected to PC.
- Several APPs crash dirung boot (clock/sms/MMS)
meanwhile updated to "fixed" version to be found in Huawei Ascend G525 Forum on Facebook.
- APP Crashs still present.
_________________________________________________________________________________________
Since this is Android 4.4.4 i'm wondering if using ART insead of Dalvic would bring more performance to the Phone.
Found it at Developers settings but there is a warning that ART is not supportet in Mokee.
Wondering if this means no technical support from Developers or no suppport within android/mokee ROM or even the smartphone?
P.S.: Tried to switch to ART and recognized leak of Performance and many APPS not working/disappeard,Homescreenwidget clock/weather not starting, so turned back to dalvik again.

Can someone post a link to fb page. I can't find anything, at least on my phone.
Cwm is in english? Is there a method to revert to original recovery?
Sent from my HUAWEI P6-U06 using Tapatalk

Cwm is english and chinese. Search for huawei ascend g525 on FB.

My oppinion
I recently flashed MoKee os on my G525, and I want to mention the following:
-The clock/messaging/dialer etc. app crashes CAN BE FIXED by clearing the data of the specific apps (the data from the stock ROM seems to be present and keeps crashing the apps)
- Using the ART the performance is much improved, but 1. crashes happen often, 2. apps require significatly more ( 2x - 4x) storage space (and unfortunately not all can be moved to ext Storage) and 3. the wakelocks are erratic, taking up to 17% of the screen off time. On dalvik, they are around 6% (which is also much, on stock ROM they were around 3%).
-RILJ, which is run by the Phone app is the main cause of the wakeup time. I'm looking for solutions. On other phones, it seems to be related with network location. In my case, doesn't look like. This is issue is also erratic.
-Problems with mounting/unmounting external SD (probably this also causes the problems with USB connectivity)
-The phone doesn't heat up any more while doing basic stuff => better battery life. I also use the smartassV2 governor.
-Everything runs/loads faster and smoother. Yes, on Dalvik.
-The OS is very tweakable, including a sort of permission manager that works flawlessly. Love it.
The next thing I'm going to do is to make a fresh reinstall. It looks like many instabilty issues are caused by the old data.
Waiting for answers!!!!

Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL (U9510E) - Update to Jelly Bean 4.1.2

Hello Everyone,
Below is a tutorial I have compiled and translated from bbs.anzhi.com on how to update your Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL (U9510E) to the latest version of Android offered by EmotionUI, Jelly Bean 4.1.2:
First of all, I want to give credit where credit is due:
genokolar (aka G大) - Creator/Modder of the Custom Recovery for this, and many other phones coming out of China
Ry09iu (aka R大) - Creator of a Rooted ROM based on EmotionUI B534, which is based on Android 4.1.2
【LUV】 - The board moderator for the D1Quad section of bbs.anzhi, also who's ROM release I used for my phone, but it's upto you to choose which one you want to use
**IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR YOU TO ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH FLASHING PHONES. IN THE CHANCE THAT YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE, I CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR IT**
**DON'T FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR FILES!!**
Now that the credits and the warning are given, let's get started:
Required Tools:
1. Recovery 6.0.1.9: This tool will open in command prompt and will allow you to flash in the Custom Recovery created by genokolar, as well as the stock recovery released by Huawei. Mirror
2(a).Official ROMs:
i. Official EmotionUI ROM B551 (Updated January 11, 2013): Release Notes
2(b).Custom ROMs:
i. Rooted Version of EmotionUI Rom (Author: genokolar):
- B534 Download
ii. Rooted Version of EmotionUI Rom (Author: Ry09iu):

iii. Rooted Version of EmotionUI Rom with HOLO as default Launcher (Author: Ry09iu, Modded by LUV):
- B534 Download
- B538 Download
- B542 Download
iv. MIUI V4.1 - converted from MIUI V4.1 for Honor 2 (Author: Ry09iu):
- Download
3. GApps [Jelly Bean 4.1.2 (Author goo.im/gapps)]: Download
*The roms are hosted in China so the download will be slow, please be patient and your download will be done in an hour or two *
**PLEASE PLACE THE ROM YOU WISH TO UES INTO YOUR EXTERNAL SD CARD BEFORE CONTINUING**
Step 1: Flashing Custom Recovery
1. Turn-on USB debugging on your phone [Settings -> Developer Settings -> USB debugging]
2. Plug in your Phone to your computer via USB for it to install the appropriate drivers*
3. Run recovery6.0.1.4_AscendD1Q.exe
3.5 If your system locale is set to anything other than Chinese, you will get this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

Note from Genokolar said:
1. The development of this Custom Recovery was done through email with Huawei so it may be lacking certain features, a full custom recovery will be released as soon as responds him
2. This recovery will only flash from an external SD Card, internal SD card flash is not yet supported
3. At the time of this Custom Recovery being posted, no third-party ROM has been released, therefore it has not been tested <- No longer the case
4.This recovery can be used to Root the EMUI ROMs released by Huawei
5. When you need to flash back to the original ROM releases by Huawei, or receive OTA updates from Huawei, please flash back the original Recovery

I chose to flash it after booting into the OS for the first, but I don't think it will cause any problems. I will be posting the way I did it, and if you guys did it the other way, let us know if it worked or not
*IMPORTANT NOTE*
When you're booting up your system out from Recovery, you will be asked whether or not you would want your ROM to auto update the recovery, shown below:

Step 4: ALL DONE!
Congratulations, assuming everything was done properly, and everything worked out, now you will have Android 4.1.2 on your Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL.
Images not showing up in your GooglePlay Store? YouTube not working?
Here is how our very own 12andy fixed the problem:

UPDATE: So using a clear hosts breaks the ability to connect to Facebook (via app and website). It's best to use AdAway, instead.
Nvana, it's the same process we've been using to flash the Chinese ROM(s), but with the added step of "fixing" the hosts file:
download SmartHosts from Goole Play (free)
tap on "Toggle hosts file" button
select "Clean hosts file"
And you're done! Rebooting wasn't necessary either, as the images started loading immediately.

Thank you for translating this! I do have a several question though.
1) Is it possible to edit the recovery so we can implement English into it? Maybe you can collaborate with the dev that made the recovery and ask him to make an English version of it??
2) I did a little research and I think the Chinese ascend is u9508 where ours u9510e. would there be any conflict or some features not usable?
3) I know you can change the system language but I am just wondering is there any difference in the chinese version of 4.1 vs the english version? or its just simply a language pack thing?
Wish you were in the 'GVA'
Thanks for doing this! Hope more people can test it out. I am bit too busy to play with my phone now so I'll do it in a week or so!
Keep up the good work!

Hey no problem at all,
1) I will suggest that to him, no problem, but not sure if he's willing to accept it though, but I'll try
2) The U9508 is actually the Honor 2, not the same as the D1 Quad XL. The Honor 2 was designed as a high powered budget ranged device to counter the XiaoMi M2 and the D1 Quad XL was supposed to be their flagship device. Although there is actually a Honor 2 with 2GBs of ram though lol
So to answer your question, this was made specifically for our phone the U9510E
3) Huawei has not yet released an international version of the EmotionUI for our phone, so the only way to get Jelly Bean on our phones is to run the Chinese version of the ROM. And to be honest, there aren't any major differences. For example, one difference is that the Chinese version will not have the Google apps, but we can patch it in by flashing the gapps from goo.im. I think the only difference would be that the international versions will have more language support.
Haha no problem, let me know when you do get to try it out
I've tried it many times however it did not work. The connection to the Chinese server seems to be established, unfortunately the ROM download did not start.
Got JB up and running late last night!
Please see my notes below.
ROM download:
make SURE that the ROM you download is in ZIP format; the recovery does NOT recognize 7z files (as expected)
for this reason, I downloaded version B
use Flashget to grab the file (saves a lot of time and grief in the event of network disconnections)
Flashing Custom Recovery:
the phone's drivers MUST be installed first
I think the program must be run first as well, prior to plugging the phone in (the procedure would only work once I toggled my phone from Mass Storage to Hi, and back to Mass Storage again)
Flashing GApps:
I flashed GApps right after flashing the ROM, but my phone sat at the Huawei logo even after multiple reboots
I went back into Recovery and performed a wipe, which fixed the problem
upon booting, I only had to install Gmail; Play Store was intact, and might've been included with the ROM already
ROM Impressions:
language selection was one of the first screens shown, so that part was very straightforward
don't know if it's a JB thing, but scrolling performance has improved irrespective of performance setting - smoother, with less input delay (say, scrolling up and down very quickly)
camera UI slightly changed (cleaner, perhaps?); continuously auto-focuses as you move the phone, so hitting the shutter "button" results in near instantaneous response (cool!)
more notification bar toggles - can be rearranged to a certain point
themes implementation - not really a fan of this, as I prefer the stock Android look/ feel for the most part; choice of vanilla Android is available
lock screen shortcuts can only be modified if using a theme
stock SMS client isn't vanilla Android - looks nicer, but isn't as responsive IMO
menu/ submenu background is near white - probably a bug, as white text on a near white background is just painful; probably not great for battery life either, and is not consistent with ICS+ Android colours
Dropped by the Chinese forum (yay for Chrome auto-translate!) to see if I can decipher any pending updates, but to no avail, lol. Looks like these ROM authors are also focusing on optimizations as well - happy to see that.
REALLY hoping this phone gets more popular very soon, and receives the Cyanogenmod 10 treatment.
Many thanks, Simon! Any chance you could convince the ROM authors over there to volunteer to become CM10 maintainers for our phone?

Great to see that everything worked! I hated their custom UI too, that's why I opted for HOLO Launcher HD for the stock JB feel
Supposedly Huawei will be working with genokolar to fully unlocked the bootloader and release a full custom recovery sometime this week so that should open up doors for other developers
And I don't even think they'll need any convincing, this thread here is a member of their development team releasing CM10 for the Ascend P1, so it's just a matter of time!
You're welcome

I tried to download via firefox however with using flashget as pointed out by Andy the download started immediately, for whatever reason.
I am also sure that this phone gets most popular soon because of a successfull compromise - strong battery, most compact size ( one-hand operation), 4,5" IPS+ display, quad core cpu and microSD. So keep your fingers crossed that our phone gets their own forum.
I do hope we get our own page but the thing that is stopping this phone from getting popular are
1) Hard to get your hand on one (BIG ISSUE)
2) Too late to join the quad core market (most people on S3 already and another big issue i mean who in their right mind is gonna give up s3 for this? and you can get a used S3 or BNIB for almost the same price of this phone if you try to import it...)
3) Try to ask anyone if they know what Huawei is ... most-likely they will be like `"what and where" ;p
4) This phone seems to be more appealing to the minority which are us who like to mess around and install Roms... and mess around during the day and runs out of battery (one reason why I choose GNex over many other great phone and one time i flashed 2 different Rom in one day at school because i was bored and then ending up running out of battery).
Yeah i hope their next phone would really make a dent in the market! But for now they already missed their chance to speak up and choose to forever hold their peace...
Well anyways while I am blah blah ing i just finished Downloading the Rom using Chrome, No Problem and took me less then 30 min. Well report back after i flash... which I should be studying for finals but... just cant stand the temptation you guys are posting....
Edit: Rom option 2(b)
So I got the rom to install but are faced with a few issue
1)*solved* Boot animation sound, I am ok with the boot animation but i dont like having sound... Would fast boot wolve that? or it takes the whole boot animation off? (Apparently if you turn the phone off in silent it will not make a sound when you turn it on!)
2) Play store not showing any image... I am not quite sure why... (Google it and did everything possible and still no avail...)
3) Messaging app when i type the keyboard cover the messages, like the message doesn't auto move above the keyboard and when i scroll the keyboard goes away. ** minor issue but its frustrating...
4) I just noticed I can't access YouTube from both the apps and the browser. Does this have to do with the rom?
I agree, this phone needs to be marketed much more here; bit of a dark horse, if you ask me.
Your S3 claim: I would have to slightly disagree with you on that one. Most people I know are still rockin' the iPhone and/ or Blackberry (this is a dying breed, however), but the tides are slowly changing now, as people are starting to take notice of Android. I only know three people with S3s, one person with a Note 2, and another recently obtained a Nexus 4 (had his Blackberry for awhile).
Boot animation sound:
I had my phone on silent (well, vibrate) last night, but the sound played still upon rebooting(?). Will test further.
Play Store images:
At first I thought it was my internet connection messing up, but turns out this is not the case. The first Google result pointed me to this, which indicates that using SetDNS (and choosing an appropriate DNS server - I like Google's/ OpenDNS', personally) solves the problem. I'll try this over lunch time at work.
Messaging and keyboard issue:
Swiftkey is typically one of the first apps I install, so can't comment on this.
Youtube:
Haven't tried the Youtube app/ site yet. I'm thinking this MAY tie into our DNS issue.
Further impressions:
stock browser isn't vanilla based, and isn't hardware accelerated, so it's a tad choppy (forcing 2D acceleration doesn't seem to work, either)
stock browser has a neat feature whereby if you swipe from the right bezel going left, it'll reveal the tabs; pretty intuitive in that regard, IMO
I tried the DNS level 3 and that didn't work.
One question did you set external sd to main storage? It doesn't seem to save apps on it?
Sent from my HUAWEI U9510E using xda app-developers app
Aw boo.
And yeah, I have external SD as main. AFAIK, that setting is only for things such as pictures/ videos, and not for apps.
Apps will always default to the internal storage, which is where the App 2 SD program comes into play.
EDIT: Hmm, I wonder if LUV's version (option C, per this thread) is any better than B. Simon, have you tried this one as well?
Hmmm weird bc without setting it my pics and video already saves on external.
Can we not just flash a stock 4.1.2 and flash the radio? I'm guessing gps and camera won't work properly? I don't like the Huawei 4.1 to be honest :s I'm back to 4.0 haha just can't stand the setting menu.
By the way I'm just curious on how you guys got this phone? Through windmobo?
Sent from my HUAWEI U9510E using xda app-developers app
Hmm, maybe the camera app itself ignores the system settings, and defaults to external SD on its own...
I don't think flashing a stock 4.1.2 would be that simple, otherwise we wouldn't need to go through these loops (via Chinese ROMs) just to obtain JB. Hence, my anxiety for a CM10 release.
I myself am pondering flashing back to stock, but the touch responsiveness of JB would be hard to let go of. Granted, it's a bit of an improvement only, but still.
Might try LUV's ROM later tonight.
And yes, I got this through Wind (on a TAB, nonetheless). I don't think this phone is available anywhere else at the moment, as far as Canada is concerned?
Sighhh I miss flashing roms I do it so much it's like I'm addicted haha. I still got my GNex to mess with.
Have anyone compiled their own rom before from free sources?
I guess we can try to learn to do that and cook up a rom for this phone that would be cool.
I'm having an issue with wify on ics I cannot connect to my school secure wifi. I had all my credential set up but it won't even attempt when I press connect.... You guys experiencing this too?
By the way have you tried the DNS to fix the market? I read somewhere that the app doesn't seem to work on jb?
Sent from my HUAWEI U9510E using xda app-developers app
I only enjoy flashing when the ROMs bring about new, practical features, performance improvements aside. I always get a chuckle out of Apple fans who jump for joy whenever an update is released. My response? "Yeah, remember how you felt when Apple released that update? Now picture that feeling, but almost every day... welcome to Android."
I'd love to get into ROM compiling, but programming is anything but my forte. I'll leave it to the Linux-heads and the guys behind Cyanogenmod, SlimBean, etc., hehe.
Odd. My wifi worked perfectly fine on the stock ROM, connecting to my home router (WPA2 Personal).
I ran across someone that said that if you attempted to use SetDNS without root, that you could possibly hose your wifi. Considering we are rooted now, I haven't the idea as to why you can't connect to the school.
SetDNS set to Google's DNS didn't work, unfortunately. Might be a glitch between the app and the ROM itself, perhaps.
(My school uses 802.1xEAP. I know I set it correctly because my GNex connects fine.) ** solved
Yes I do rmb the days when I had the iPod touch 2g and I hated how things look soo boring and function so limited so modified the crap out of it through Cydia. They had pull down menu already many years ago in Cydia and apple didn't pick it up till recently lol.
Is Huawei working on 4.1 for global firmware? I hope they keep the stock lock screen and stock menu.
Can't wait for someone to release 4.1 AOSP!
By the way compiling shouldn't be too hard? There are many tutorial and program to auto compile I rmb I had a program like that few years ago...

Per this thread, it seems that we'll be getting JB officially very soon. Bit late IMO, but better late than never.
Bit surprised about what Telco wrote about the XL's reception though, as it's quite the contrast to what Howard found with his.
Battery life
Hi I just wondering if any of you on the 4.1 can compare the battery life with me. I think I read it somewhere that the 4.1 improves battery life significantly. Here are my results
4.0.4 ICS, Screen brightness on auto. On battery save mode most of the time
By the way anyone fixed the play store/ you tube issue?

About the reception i have to say i agreed! My GNex never looses signal completely (just down to no bar but still barely connected) but the ascend drops to no service. At school too I noticed I get drop signals in some areas that i didnt notice before. Maybe that have to do with the battery saving mode? I will try putting on performance mode to test it out in those areas.
The way you grip I do notice some drop in signal. Probably the architecture and location of the antenna

Root and Update Xperia Active (satsuma) to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 for Beginner

I have a rough road to update my Xperia Active. And now I've success to have my phone work smoothly. Want to share for a beginner, step by step.
1. First of all, make decision. You have to decide to leave sony. You may brick your phone. And may be, Sony cannot repair for you. If you're reluctant, I think do not do it.
2. You should have a second phone to use between the process. Or you may loss connection for a while.
3. Some word(s) you should know before ( I try to describe as simple not exactly the whole meanings, only for understand for use )
- Boot loader : is the part of Android system to load data for boot system. Sony lock this part for safety and for right issues. You should unlock bootloader before something to do. (There's some methods to root on locked bootloader but you still can't flash new rom)
- root : The way you take superuser right to change everythings in your android phone. As administrator in PC. You can check this right by use terminal emulator, write down su, the icon will change from $ -> #. If it's say " unknown command" means that you still don't rooted.
- custom ROM : There're a lot of custom roms for xperia active to choose. The most well known is CyanogeMod rom. Till now I think CM10 is stable for xperia active (It's modify from jellybean 4.1.2). There is newer version CM10.1 (JB 4.2.1) but still some bug, waiting for development. The others are Jelly Vanilla, Super jelly bean, PACMAN, Paranoid, Mike, Polish blood, etc. You can try all of them.
- flash rom : to install ROM to your device
- fastboot : the mode to flash kernel. For xperia active, connect the usb cable to your pc then power off your phone. Press Vol.up button while connect usb cable to microUSB port. You should install usb driver for xperia active into your PC. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398910
- full wipe : to delete and format user data before install a new rom. You lock in to the recoverymode and then wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache (advance > wipe dalvik cache ). In mounts and storage > format system, format data, format cache.
boot in recovery mode : to restart into recovery mode, For Xperia Active you should power off your phone, then power on and wait till some boot image and LED light come then press Vol. down button repetitively for a while. If it responses, it will stop boot logo and go to recovery mode with the blue LED light.
- Kernel : boot.img. It's a boot program for your device contain some system drivers.
- recovery : It's may be as a little OS install to your device to do somethings that cannot be done via your ordinary OS. There're 2 well known brands, ClockworkMod recovery (CWM) and TeamWin Recovery Project (TWRP). For Xperia Active I suggest to use CWM.
4. Make your phone's battery > 40%.
5. Unlock Bootloader : goto http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
6. Root : go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398910 .
- This will help you to find driver for xperia active (driver.zip)
- Make flash kernel easier (fastboot.zip).
- And will install Rage Kernel v3.2 (ICS) and CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7
If you like this ROM you can stop here.
7. Back up your phone. Reboot into recovery mode. Choose backup/restore > backup
8. Upgrade to Jelly Bean 4.1.2.
- Download kernel. I use 2.6.32.60 nAa kernel from: http://goo.im/devs/nAa/kernels/2.6.32/jb/satsuma (credit: http://www.androidmodmarket.com/ModMarket/Listings/XDA-L-2214282.html). It's stable, good for battery, beautiful logo. Newer kernel are good too but drain battery much faster. Rename it to boot.img and put it in your Fastboot directory (from 6) in your PC.
- Download ROM. I use Super jelly bean 5.5. It's smooth, small, little ram used, true enlargable icon(150% good for older ). Only problem I found is ringtone adjustment. You can go here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277199
- Download Gapps. http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
- Copy ROM, gapps into your sd card
- Flash kernel. Use flash.cmd as in 6.
- Start your phone into CWM recover and do full wipe.
- Install zip from sd card > find SJB zip file > install.
- Install zip from sd card > find Gapps zip file > install.
- After finish, restart system. Wait calmly for the first time. It may take 5 minutes.
- You can adjust your settings. And wait for 30 min. for ROM to settle. Restart and enjoy.
3.6) full wipe : การลบและformat user data ก่อน install rom ให้เปิดเข้า recoverymode แล้วเลือก wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache ( ในเมนู advance > wipe dalvik cache ) ในเมนู mounts and storage > format system, format data, format cache
3.8) Kernel : boot.img.
4. Charge batt
5. Unlock Bootloader : ไปที่ http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7
7. Back up android โดย Reboot เข้า recovery mode เลือก backup/restore > backup
8. Upgrade เป็น Jelly Bean 4.1.2.
8.7) Install zip from sd card > find SJB zip file > install
8.8) Install zip from sd card > find Gapps zip file > install

refer from Q&A forum, there is some rule that i found on 1st page:
here is the link : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907900&page=67
want to post here then have to follow some rules.
-NO OFF-TOPIC

I think, it was possible to write in other language if you post an english tutorial
Xperia Active Upgrade to SJB5.5
First of all I like to thank the author for posting this upgrading topic on Xperia Active, one of the best outdoor smartphone. Though it's limitation in RAM but it still performed very well with basic outdoor Apps.
Here are some of my comments during the upgrading, I am no expert in any of this stuff but glad XDA forum had provided many info. Started Rooting the 2013 Nexus 7 32G first then went on to Xperia Active which was way more complex then expected.
Thoughts
1. Hope the author could write in point form instead of referring to another site, took a day on trial and error and almost brick the phone (well I am new to this stuff)
2. Before upgrading, I was using HRM with Xperia Active Ant+ but found it was not added in the Kernel.
3. Found a link in XDA on Ant+ addon but was for 4.0 version and did not workout.
4. Found another link Ant+ and this time it was a success. Ant+ is now back in action.
5. Did not remove the first Ant+ installation on the Xperia Active but went on using CWM to install the second Ant+ zip file from the SD card folder.
6. Overall the upgrading was amazing, Apex Launcher looks better compare to partner's unrooted Xperia Z layout.(next project)
7. Found if set the CPU to Performance running around 1.6GHz, it was draining battery very fast. Now I have switch to intellidemand mode and testing it out (have a feeling the battery life will last longer. When the phone is idle the CPU is running between 249~460Mhz). Definitely like the options of playing around the CPU without downloading external App for it.
8. GPS at initial startup was slow, maybe due fresh start however after few try outs did find it is a little slow on looking for satellites.
9. Booting up (intellidemand 1612MHz setting with SJB5.5) time was way slower compare to the stock unrooted Xperia Active (recorded a vid using both Xperia phone for comparison, will try to post a link soon) Maybe could due to setting, stock unrooted Xperia Active Core0 was at 1024MHz
10. Power Off was similar case, still the stock unrooted Xperia Active out performed even had the rooted Xperia Active set on performance
11. Touch screen was less sensitive then before
12. For now, since everything is working out fine will just leave it as it is. As for performance wise felt that installing just Rage Kernel v3.2 (ICS) and v3.0 (GB) was much faster.
So if anyone like me to do other comparison, let me know and do give a guide as I am Idiot to this at the moment.
Cheers
Well done
I'm very glad that I've made something useful to you. But it no so good enough. I'm not an expert too. I think for mod rom you have to find more and more. Which is the best rom for you. I have to give a link to other because it's the rule you have to refer to the writer for his achievement except you made it by your own. And I only found and happy and then tell others that this is the way to do.
And now I've go on to MIUI. It's not so fast but I love it. Not so sluggish and beautiful rom. You can try to find how to install MIUI on this website.

Of course you can try any rom and kernel you like and find the one fitting best for your usage
But if you want to try for example SJB, don't use 5.5, always use the latest version of the rom you want to try. Only don't use it, if it has more bugs. Otherwise try the latest, often it includes bug fixes etc
Sent from my Nexus 4 running Android 4.3
Well thank you again for the kind advice.
I would stick with SJB5.5 for the moment and play around. Definitely something I tried today an improvement was the camera function, the photos taken was much better. Every upgrade do fix bugs but then again it's also on Beta stage. I have 2 Xperia Active, maybe will try the other one to play around with the upgrade.
At the moment I have no intention of upgrading to any newer smartphone so SE Xperia Active will stay as long as it takes. She has proven to me over the years, seen desert storm, swam in SE Asia water, went backing with Maps loaded and most of all been thru all my outdoor activities. She is compact, light, tough and now I have moved 70% of the Apps to 2013 Nexus 7 so she is basically working as an outdoor smartphone with Map, Fitness Apps and music....no YouTube, no Gmail and stuff, basically no productivity stuff. (new Google Map is really crap, have downloaded 6.9 back)
@mrwitoon, I guess you are Thai, I have always love Thailand as my holiday destination
MIUI development is under China SiaoMi which out performs iOS in term of sales. After I hv said my needs for Xperia Active at the moment, what are your opinions for my needs? It seems MIUI are tailored to those like iOS. Correct me if I am wrong. Just been to their site and saw the vid.
Cheers

Of course some updates bring up new bugs, but most times many new really cool features and bug fixes
If I were you, I'd do a backup of your current rom using cwm (nandroid backup) and flash the update with just wiping cache (you won't loose data). Don't forget to flash gapps if necessary! If you like the update, stay with it, if not, just restore the backup and it'll be okay

Now I left from SJB and stay on MIUI. I think It may looks like iOS but something different. Someone said iOS7 comes to look like MIUI! For me I'm happy with it morethan MIUI. I don't want too much from this phone except her endurance. For both roms ( SJB, MIUI ) I think not different in term of smoothness. But MIUI has only 1 launcher not need to open app drawer again, so easier (If you ever used iOS, the same feelings). Some controls eg. wifi, bluetooth, power off, reboot, lock screen etc. are on status bar, you have not to find special icon app from the market. ( I usually want this control easier than go into settings ). The sweeper app of MIUI is the same as Fastreboot app or TaskKiller of google market but you have not to download and take more ram. When I open too many app and feel some sluggish I sweep it to clear more ram. MIUI has Xiaomi's market. There're many interesting app in there, but you have to read Chinese. ( I can't read too. I tried download it, if not good then uninstall.) Now I use v.3.6.14 of Sandy or Mihahn I'm not sure. It isn't most updated but stable and fast.( I try to update to 3.9.6 but it's more sluggish.) And I use Colinux kernel to solve problem of self reboot of Lupus kernel as suggested by the author.
I agree with Mihahn. If you have time, you can nandroid backup your rom and try another roms or update. And you can try newer rom for awhile. If it isn't as you need, you can go back. And you'll fun with trial.

thanks, but just want to confirm that its ok to flash the ASOP rom for China 'KIT" rom even is on Vibe1.5 kitkat, don't want to brick the phone,
thanks for anyone who can confirm, thanks
Only one SIM detected
After flashing the ROM, it appears to be detecting only one SIM. I have cleared the possibility defecting SIM card by trying it out in other Mobiles. Is it that I have to again rewrite the IMEI codes from the back up using Mobile uncle? Super camera and super gallery are not thare should we get the apk and install?
Hi, am on Chinese Firmware 4gb with Vibe 1.5 Kitkat, want to go bloat free, which rom would you recommend? AOSP or SLX? why?
willl I lose IMEI if switching from Chinese to ROW? thanks

btw, stympy how must i doing when from this rom -> http://goo.gl/oAAKPU ???
thanks before
Excellent ROM, in v1.6 is more stable and faster. I flashed after full wipes. The only problem, is some animations with some lag and Quick and extra settings with GravityBox not works fine, but this is problem cause for compatibility of MTK and kitkat.
But Lenovo released the Vibe UI from ROW versions, I will expect ROW AOSP versions and repartition tool from India forums. The best ROMs actually are, SLXROM (by Silentxxx) and AOSP versions (by power19), from Russian Lenovo forum and 4pda forum respectelly.
Flashtool version
Any one have a backup this rom with mtkdroid tool & make flashtool version??.

Better you install or follow the thread at needrom discussion of p780 and follow the step by step tutorial. You don't need flashtool except for installing chinese version of p780 firmware prior to this aosp rom.

I have v1.7 , is there any way to upgrade to v1.8 without losing or restoring the entire data from scratch ?
Also, is there any way to skip the data to be installed in SD card because for the security reason I am looking for an option which could install all the apps in phone internal memory instead of SD card because SD card can be removed and data can be accessed anytime if the phone is lost.
---------- Post added at 02:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:39 PM ----------
I just flashed v1.8 and then wiped dalvik cache and thats it. I am on v1.8 and I must say BOOT ANIMATION plus STARTUP ITEMS is a charm.
My tests and solutions on the AOSP 1.8:
- The magnetic cases zip patch from recovery generates a bootloop on the CHINA BASED ROM.
- StandardCamera.zip it's SnapCamera. So I intalled the Google Camera from Plays Store and tested HDR, that doesn't work. PHOTOSPHERE and LENS BLUR works. Gallery Crashes while trying to edit a picture.
- Google launcher.zip works but overwrite nova prime. Titanium backup is recomanded.
- Gravity Box is stable, but a lot of tweaks are not applied.
Here there are my steps for the INSTALLATION and to solve the ISSUE ABOUT GOOGLE ACCOUNTS :
- I installed Vibe UI with Flashtools, just booted to check it then I rebooted in recovery. I didn't put any google account on it.
- From recovery I installed the AOSP 1.8 4.4.2
- At the first boot I get this 2 messages: "Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped" "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped" and I can't go on seting up the phone.
- Back in recovery tried a wipe to factory settings, it works, so I enter in the O.S.
Then
- Once in the O.S. I cant get to login in my Google Accounts, I get "there was a problem communicating with Google Servers"
- Back in recovery tried another wipe to factory settings, it DOES NOT works.
- From recovery I flashed again AOSP 1.8 over the AOSP 1.8, it DOES NOT works.
- Downloaded the GApps_Light_4.4.2_signed.zip, it DOES NOT works.
- So i was tired, and I installed from recovery SLX v26a CHINA.
- In SLX v26 I tried to log in with Google Play, and I logged in with success.
- Back in recovery I flashed again AOSP 1.8 over the SLX v26 china.
- Booting the AOSP 1.8, Google Play icon and files exist, but in SETTINGS->ACCOUNT there is no option to put a Google Account (only standard EMAIL ICON) and if you try adding it from Google Play, it crashes.
- Again, back in recovery, I Installed again GApps_Light_4.4.2_signed.zip
- Still in recovery, I tried a Wipe to Factory
- Back in the O.S. I tried to add an account in Settings->Accounts, and finally it works.
I found GApps_Light_4.4.2_signed.zip on XDA but i cant remember the address of the discussion. Mine was of size of 47.4 MB not the one of 50 MB, the second ones gave me an error in recovery.
Here there is the file from my GDrive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwGOPBqfPRJXUzJvc0JOT2NfYlU/edit?usp=sharing

Lenovo Power Centers 1.3 and 2.5
STRANGE BATTERY BEHAVIOUR
The very first day I put the phone in AIRPLANE MODE with 35% at 00.00.
At 06.00 the battery was at 32%. Usually with other roms there is no such consumption of energy, with no variation of percentage displayed.
Around 8 it starts with a drammatic dropdown of enery, quicly decreasing from 30% to 11%, as in the screen.
This behaviour never happen again.

The second day, after a full charge, I installed a System App and rebboted the phone. After reboot from 100% I get 76 % of battery indication, with a "hole" in the battery graph and stats. I rebooted again and the indicator displayed 99%.
This behaviour never happen again.
--update--
Tonight I put my phone in ariplane mode at 50% of charge. This morning I found the battery at 41%. I was quite sure that were no apps using GPS, but from the following screen it seems that GPS was turned ON all nigth long.
Does airplane mode should turn off ALL the signals? Why GPS remain ON?
-end of update--
Lenovo Power centers
All the Power Centers that I had from my backups doesn't works, they crash at boot, or doesn't install at all.
Lenovo Power version 1.3. - Installed, works in background, GUI crash opening it.

the modem-file in this Rom is:
modem_1_3g_n.img
that file must be replaced with root explorer par example, but don't forget to set the same permissions than before.
For me the baseband v101 works fine.
EDIT:
Maybe you need to replace both modem files. I did it first with modem.img, but there was no effect und then I replaced modem_1_3g_n.img.

Hi, what do you mean that BOTH FILES MUST BE REPLEACED?
In etc/firmware I have only one file called modem_1_3g_n.img, there is nothing more.
It's another modem in another folder?

Hi. You must look in /system/etc/firmware and /system/etc/mddb. This are the 2 directories or folders you must use.
Example:
In:/system/etc/firmware you will find the file called: modem.img
In:/system/etc/mddb you will find the file called: BPLGUInfoCustomAppSrcP_MT6589_S00_P780_V23
Do you understand now?
Look in my post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/development/how-modems-t2757923
There you will find a bunch of modems to patch from TWRP.
First backup your modem files then HAPPY PATCHING.

Android 6 for LG-P712?

Hello, community! I was wondering if there's any Android 6 rom for LG Optimus L7 II (P712). I was told that CyanogenMod supports through CM13 a lot of LG devices but P712. But I decided to give it a shot anyway and I will share my experience with you.
I took the risk yesterday and I installed CM13 on my cel phone. The installation process was perfect (I used ClockworkMod Recovery), I also installed Gapps perfectly. I rebooted my device and it loaded and updated all the apps (it took like 10 minutes). After that, I had to setup my wifi network, google account, etc. Everything was good so far, but then, when the menues loaded my camera and radio fm weren't shown. The rest of the apps were right there and it recognized my wifi and mobile service provider like a charm (I called and texted myself from another phone). But... after a couple of minutes a pop-up started to show up saying "Unfortunately, Android keyboard (AOSP) has stopped" and since there, it was a nightmare haha. I couldn't access to my keyboard at all. I understand it's an issue with CyanogenMod and they are trying to fix it.
But after that situation, I decided to flash my device using "Flash Tools 2014" and Android 4.4. If any of you know about another rom with android 6, please let me know. Thanks in advance!
What gapps was used, and which cm13 build?Seems P712 is all like my P713,and on mine i got no lags(excepting camera app, just needs to install another camera and delete stock one).

Hi DS_katauri, thanks for your reply. About gapps, I tried to install different packages (mini, full, nano, stock), I downloaded them from opengapps. But it seems many people are reporting issues like the one I had. Btw, the rom I used was the "cm-13.0-20160330-UNOFFICIAL-vee7-RC2" (I'm a new user so I can't attach links... I downloaded it from androidfilehost, the user who uploaded it has useful things there). Thanks again, for your reply!!

Yep,Neutrondev made a lot of pretty things for our LG.
About ROM,try this one(latest build from Weritos) ,use version for 713 and gapps provided.IDK will CWM work,if no use Neutrondev's TWRP 3.020.Also,gapps should be installed after ROM but before 1st start.Lags are - built-in camera(use snap hdr and delete stock camera and gallery via root),wifi(sometimes connects only manual),no function on qmemo button(not critical at all)...And a specific feature - no internal card only SDcard I'm using it now(actually writing from it).Only three apps make me angry, katemobile(russian vk.com social network alternative client) - can stuck phone(idk why),viber v5x or v6x(both can FC in unknown reason,v4x all okay),and Opera4android(chinese idiots forget the "clean cache" button).
Oh,and launcher,Nova still remains the best.
Good luck and don't forget to backup your current ROM to SD.
Hi DS_katauri, thanks for your reply and all the info you shared with me. Unfortunately, it didn't work on my smartphone. Yesterday, I installed the rom and gapps by Weritos but the camera didn't work at all, it kept asking me for my sd-card (even after I formatted it). For the same reason, I couldn't download photos, take screenshots or anything. And I couldn't install whatsapp because it wasn't compatible with my device anymore, so I had to give up. Thanks anyway for all your help!!

I told U to try snap camera, then play with settings to allow writing on sd(this stuff makes me mad too)Also, opencamera and first version of CyanogenCamera should work too. And,whatsapp, install it not from market.
Will look on new release of Weritos CM13 soon, probably it will help

Newer App Versions crashing on CyanogenMod ROMs

Hello
I have an Xperia Ray and was running a 4.4.4 ROM based on CyanogenMod till a few weeks ago when I started to realize that many of the newer versions of different apps caused strange troubles. Some of them crashed most file explorers I tried just on loading the icon from the downloaded APK. Some I managed to install nonetheless only to have the same problem with the launcher/drawer itself. Every time it tries to display the icon of the app it dies. Looking for a solution I discovered that CM13 got ported for my phone and was happy to be able to change to Android 6.0.1.
Sadly the troubles did not go away. The apps that showed the above mentioned symptoms on 4.4.4 have similar effects on 6.0.1. Only that now these apps are crashing the whole phone forcing a reboot and that the launcher app does not load at all anymore. Only solution is to uninstall the app manually in recovery mode via adb shell.
After a lot of tinkering, experimenting, talking to other app devs, and rebuilding open source apps I found that the problems appeared with the update to Android Studio 3. It seems that without changing anything code wise for these apps only the update from gradle wrapper 3.5 to 4.1 seems to cause these troubles. On the other hand I can build my own apps with the newest Android Studio with everything up to date without these problems showing up. So I guess it is some library, API, or whatever in combination with the newer gradle versions that causes these troubles.
Well, it seems that there is a bug in the CyanogenMod ROMs, as far as I know by now. It's not a Xperia Ray specific problem as people with other hardware running CyanogenMod have the same problems. For example this thread here. And I got confirmation from an app developer team that they were able to reproduce the problems on a Galaxy S2 running CM13.
It's also not Android version related as updating to 6.0.1 did not help at all.
Have you experienced what I'm talking about and maybe found the solution for that problem? I think there is a bug in the CyanogenMod system somewhere but I'm not skilled enough to find it.
I fear that these problems will render my phone incompatible with more and more upcoming app versions and would really hate to have to switch to a bulky modern phone.
Here are some log files showing the errors. Maybe you can read something useful from them.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
Here some additional info that came as answer from a dev team I contacted regarding this issue:
The issue you have reported tends to only occur in devices with the older memory layout used by manufacturers for devices that run Android 2.x onwards, such as the Galaxy S2 - this layout still sticks around even when upgrading to custom ROMs with newer android versions. A unified internal layout for Android devices only started to appear in 2013 and it became the de-facto layout in 2014 or so.
In the old layout, you have both an Internal System Partition (1-2GB) and then an Internal System Memory (the rest of the device's advertised internal memory - its seen as emulated "External memory" - an external SD card then becomes "SD2" in these devices when running a custom ROM). This causes problems for apps that are created and compiled with the unified memory layout in mind, even if the old SDK is the target, because the system will not direct them to an accessible storage area to store user data.
The apps that do not have problems were the ones that have been around since android 2.x; they will instead have their own set of problems for newer devices and versions of Android.
Right now I'm not sure what to think of this...
Push...
push too , if i use a non cyangenmod based rom like paranoid android (6.0 Android MarshMallow Pure AOSP for Google Nexus 7 2012 WIFI), is this prob fixed then ?
i have nexus 7 (2012) wifi only device , i have cyanogenmod 11 (20141112) / android 4.4.4 ( this tablet has no SD card slot so no SD2 assignment )
Not Sony Xperia,..
Only a cheap Haier A16C3H with CM13 Nightly...but..
Yes the trouble is exactly the same in my experience here. I don't know what to do for the solution, except perhaps one of:
# "keep/looking for & install - only the old version of apps, or
# buying a new phone (if I can)
Sad
Nothing new
Push
Nothing new from my side, except that I think twice before updating an APP by now.
So far I've managed to get around with my old Xperia, but would be nice if someone more knowledgable could look into this matter.
Thanks.
Anyone figured out how to fix this? or even a workaround?
My problem was the cm13 based rom I am using on my LG G3 Beat had this problem with newer versions of apps, but someone made a cm14 based rom that fixes this problem but in exchange it created another problem, lag in the touchscreen, playing games where you have to do combo/multiple taps became impossible.
I got so frustrated that I just went back to stock lol.
