Custom ROMs and application development

Hi,
I recently installed a custom ROM in my phone.
What I noticed is that the problem is either that my phone drivers can't be installed for some reason (I have a SGS being treated as a Google Nexus S), or I just can't implement applications.
I mean that when I try to build an application on Eclipse, my phone is not recognized, like I don't have it plugged in.
Which one is it?
anyone?

What do you mean by "I just can't implement applications"?
Do you mean you cannot install apps from the market? If so, are you sure you installed a ROM for the Samsung Galaxy S? Have you manually changed your screen DPI or is the ROM modified in any way regarding the screen DPI?

Install the drivers for your device.
Comes up I had the drivers. I tried reinstalling them and it didn't work again.
I also tried it in another PC with no luck
Not sure if it matters but the custom ROM I have is Dark Knight 3.

[Q] "This applicatiln is incompatible with you're device" for compatible apps

[Q] "This applicatiln is incompatible with you're device" for compatible apps
Hi guys . I just wanna ask if all of you experiencing this. (Not only me).
This past days. Android market changed to google play. If i open google play some of the apps says, "This applicatiln is incompatible with you're device" . Not like android market, it only shows the applications compatible with you're device. Do you experiencing it guys?
are you using Stock ROM or mod?
Some of the mods need that you flash a fix for them to work properly... and also depends if you updated the OS (ICS 4.0.3 or 4.0.4) maybe, if the developers of the app have not updated it.
*also if you do use a modded ROM, some change the dpi settings. Some apps have issues when it's too low.

Thanks for the reply cyberboob. It really makes meaning, what you said.
Below are info that you asked
Rom - ICS 4.0.3 mod (I9100XXLPQ_I9100HTSLP3_I9100NELP2_HOME.tar)
Everyone says to change the DPI settings, can you pls tell me a correct and easy way to do that. Its very bad not to have many apps that i really need in google play. Thanks again

Have a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23438841&postcount=11877
No worries. This site has tons of people who want to help.
As 078gregory posted the link... that's the best way to do it... but sometimes you also need to delete the exact same setting - meaning:
ro.sf.lcd_density=240 ---it appears twice (one further down)
ro.sf.lcd_density=240 ---and your values might already be different (I'm guessing yours is set to a lower number than 240 already), could be 180 or something.
If your settings are 180 or whatever... try changing them to 190+ (mine's on 210 now and no problems with any apps). Good luck.
I was finally able to root and checked the DPI
As you said cyberboob, i have two entries
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
I f i change that it affects my screensize like anything. I still have the same problem and not sure how to fix this. I tried changing the dpi to different values but nothing works. The apps that show incompatible are still the same.
im having a similar problem
i flashed LPS the other day but didnt like ICS, i reverted back to LA4 with CWM but google play app and website thinks im still on ICS so i get updates for things like Flash, Gmail, Talkback and YT but then get errors saying a need a newer SKD version.
Also apps i have installed some say incompatible because Play thinks im still using ICS but infact on Gingerbread.
Really confused as to why this is happening.

[Q] Problems installing Slim ROM

Hello everyone,
I'm having problems installing the Slim ROM. I have an SGS2 I9100.
First let me tell you what I did.
I've had my phone rooted with CWM for awhile, but have been running a Stock samsung ROM on ICS. Wanting to upgrade, I found slim and downloaded the i9100_4.2.zip file. Then I went downloaded Slim_Gapps. I flashed first the ROM than Slim_Gapps and everything went fine. Except I had no keyboard at all when the ROM loaded up. I managed to log into the google play store, by texting my username/PW to myself and copy pasting them to log into google. However, I was getting a server error in the play store. I tried clearing data from the store and all that but no luck.
I figured I must have the wrong software or messed something up. So I went back to and downloaded Slim-GT-I9100-2.8.0-OFFICIAL from the slim site again along with the md5sum fix. I rebooted to recovery, wiped cache, dalvik cache then just flashed, however, now my phone just hangs up on "Opening update package..." I flashed Siyah-s2-v5.0b2.tar from using ODIN, but the problem persist. When I tried to reflash using the i9100_4.2 I get the same problem. After freezing on "Opening update package..." for awhile, the phone reboots into CWM. I simply don't understand what the problem is.
That's everything I've done. What I want is to get my phone up-to-date with the Slim ROM and 4.1 Jellybean (If that's possible?)
Any help is greatly appreciated. I've been trying to solve this problem for hours and have become incredible frustrated.
P.S. I tried posting exact links to where I got all my files from but apparently that's not allowed.
Ok, after trying to install SlimBean 2.8 again it worked. However I now do not have a google play store. I have installed slim gapps but still do not have the store. Thoughts?

Thanks, that worked, but is the play store supposed to have a black background? And why does it have to be Multi DPI? (Curious)

The black background is the inverted version exactly the same in every way as a normal play store app. The black background is a power saving mod as it's less for the screen light up . The multi DPI is so it can recognise devices with differing DPI settings. (i think) Its an option to change in settings. Stock slim is dpi 182 i prefer 240 . Multi dpi play store will work with both

Ah alright, I didn't realize the black background had power saving purposes, I thought it was either a glitch or just supposed to look cool. I just got done messing with the DPI settings. I think I settled on 210? 182 was a bit too small. Thanks for your help and info.
Slim ICS / JB on S ll
Hello Calliddus.
I do not intend to hack your thread, just need some help.
Am new to the forum and to android. Have read the noob tutorials posted around.
I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S 2 which came with ICS 4.0.3 running on it.
I intend to install Slim bean ( if possible ), or Slim ICS (if its more practical) on the phone.
You seem to know what you are talking about, and I can't post on the Development threads in the forum.
Hence if it isn't must trouble, can you please guide me through the following ?
1. I tried looking, and since I couldn't find anything, would i be right if I assumed that installing a Slim ROM (Either ICS 4.0.4 or JB) over the Stock Samsung 4.0.3 , would not be something wrong or undesirable to do ?
2. I am not a very heavy or avid user, but I would like a simple, plain and glitch free OS with the advance customization options, so should I just stick to Slim ics or should i think about Slim bean (assuming its possible to install it on my device) ?
3. What backup method would you suggest, assuming I will fail in my upgrade and will have to go back to stock once again? ( Nandroid, CWM recovery, etc.. )
I have a lot more questions, but not as important.
Your help will be appreciated.
