With the bounty of almost $4,000 (last time I checked) you would think that someone/recognized dev or team, would step up to this bounty of unlocking the bootloader on the Verizon variant of the S4. Even since the ME7 update, (mid July?), I am surprised! I thought I would put in my 2 cents of the topic. There is a website called change.org, which is an online petition website. I'm sure some of you have heard it.
Anyways, I saw a petition of the LG 4X. A guy made up a petition to unlock the boot loader. Soon enough, the amount of required signatures was reached, and LG came out with an update and BAM. I'm going to create an petition for the Verizon S4, and hopefully, this works. Just a little bit of hope for you guys, I want it just as bad as everyone else.

Verizon won't change their stance. That's why they attempt to please us by offering developer edition devices. That LG device you referenced to was a GSM unlocked device. It wasn't tied to any carrier specifically and therefore LG could directly appease those demanding change. Verizon offers the explanation in this article in regards to why it's locked and it's probably the same response you'll get. just my 2cents

Well its been a year and our bootloaders are still locked. In 2011 moto promised to embrace the dev community and unlock all the bootloaders on their phones. HTC started offering unlocks but moto hasn't said a word. I personally think it has something to do with Google's purchased of Motorola mobility but I'm not sure. They haven't issued any type of statement regarding this issue. Lets take action! We need EVERY one in the photon forums to take 3 mins and fill this out. This petition is flying around teh interwebz extremely fast. Its definitely going around XDA as all moto owners are joining forces, let's get in on it! I hope moto responds I really like them as a company now...

Lol i'm thinking you're right, I got that first response about 5 minutes after I contacted them....now its been about 45 minutes since I replied to their response and I haven't heard back from them yet

HTC 's default response it's to "stay tuned". I asked them why the Thunderbolt had no ICS in June and that's the same response I got. And yet here we are and that phone will never see an official ICS release.

They have a notice on the site that download counts aren't showing properly on the page. Im sure somebody has grabbed it. Plus, DL been going pretty slow for me at least, on any mirror not getting over 250KB/s thats like almost 2 hrs, lol

I don't think he was ripping anyone saying he's "owed anything". Just exhibiting frustration on a locked bootloader. I too had hoped Sammy would not have gone this route, and more development would continue. Those of us on VZW should come to expect this now, as they are nazis with the bootloader. Bootloader unlock is not a selling point for me, but it does make it more fun.

It is frustrating for those of us on ME7 not to have an unlocked bootloader, but I for one am grateful for the options we DO have right now... you can still root and use Xposed to customize to your liking or use Safestrap and flash a decent amount of roms. I will keep waiting patiently for someone to find an exploit, but in the meantime just shut up and enjoy what options we're even lucky enough to have. You picked Verizon, did you really expect freedom?

The options we have seem to be enough for most users anyhow.
I know the last tread got ugly. But would like everyone to keep fellow members updated. As the time is counting to getting your hands on. With the most powerful Mobil device on the market.. I will confirm I do have my hands on. A fully unlocked firmware for Verizon. I can not confirm it works yet. Due to not having the device in front of me. Once I confirm it. I will post a whole write up on that.. With links..

Because unlike you, I don't start threads with attention seeking topics that never come to fruition. I could care less if I'm labeled on XDA as a "recognized elite developer" or whatever it is or have some stupid, big thanks meter. Those things are worthless to me. What matters most is getting good, clean, easy-to-install workarounds to the foolish measure Verizon forces on the manufacturers out to the general public. If you want to watch thats fine.... but Its an Android Development community. You reposting ridiculous online petitions is certainly not bettering the community and honestly if I can do even a little to keep us from being represented by that piece of **** I will have done a great service.
If I were an executive, and got a letter/petition written like that, I'd just dismiss it as coming from someone having a hard time keeping up in middle school (and who's parents were actually paying for their phone). Seriously, that petition is a waste of time and effort.

Also... go easy guys...a mod is definitely going to step in here and clean this thread and possibly close it due to the language.

I think the other threads died for a reason. It's a futile effort.
I'm pretty sure that I read recently that the Department of Defense just approved the Knox security system. What's that mean? Samsung can potentially sell millions of phones to the government, who is not interested in phones that can be hacked. Now, consider the hacking community. A couple of thousand potential hackers. Which do you think Samsung is more likely to pay attention to?

Oh, I don't know.
