[Q] Microphone, screen flicker, s-off, oh my - Verizon HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

My main issue is an intermittent microphone problem i'm having and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this. I am on the 20130909 mdmower 10.2 nightly build. Essentially my microphone does not work very often, but will work like 1 out of twenty reboots which makes me hopeful but pissed off when it works since it doesn't last. I have tried changing the build prop mic settings from digital to analog and sometimes after a reboot it will work but then stops. I tried going to the viper 2.2 rom but the problem remained. Very odd behavior for something simple like a microphone and I was hoping someone had an idea. I am also getting the screen flicker on this build but that happens pretty often and I run through the whole procedure of the facepalm s-off but after I reboot the phone after running everything it doesn't stick. Just weirdness there. Any help of ideas would be appreciated and hopefully someone has had this happen before and knows the solution.

No suggestions? Maybe i'll just put it on craigslist with a disclaimer

It is the noise cancelling microphone on top. If I apply a lot of pressure over the hole then the microphone works fine. If I remove the pressure it stops working. I'm thinking hopefully there is a software fix, but maybe i'll just crack this sucker open and remove it from the board. Any suggestions?

[Q] Microphone problem with eris. Hoping someone can help with a workaround.

Hardware related bug, hoping to bypass it completely.
Started happening about 2 months ago.
problem: When headphones/bluetooth are not connected, my microphone on the phone will not work. When either are connected, both the headphone/bluetooth microphone are working at the same time. I've been using bluetooth to place calls this entire time, Person on the other end gets a constant echo, if I cover up the phone microphone the echo stops(and they only hear what comes from the bluetooth headset).
I've flashed multiple roms, it seems to me like this is hardware related, but for the life of me I can't figure out how this seems to have got reversed in functionality (microphone on the phone should mute when headset is attached, not unmute)
Anyways, I'm perfectly fine using bluetooth, I never use my microphone on my phone for voice searches (I'm a southerner, it just doesn't work... yall.) i also never record videos. So, anyone know how I can keep the phone microphone muted full time?
That sucks
The same thing happened to my fiance's eris. I tried everything i could think of... its a hardware issue. She also had a problem with her track ball at the same time, it would not scroll down, only up left and right. She ended up getting a new phone, because nothing else worked. Sorry for your luck. Let me know if you find a fix.

Thanks for the response. I'm 100% sure its a hardware problem. If I cant figure out a way to permanently mute the onboard microphone im going to buy a dead eris and just replace the little board with the usbport/microphone. If that doesnt fix it, I will see if it will boot up with that board removed completely. (have a battery only charger already.)
But before I do either, I would love it if one of the genius' around here (no disrespect, some smart folks on these forums) responded with a way to permanently mute it.
10 day bump in hopes that someone knows something that didnt see it. Wont do it again. *crosses fingers*

No sound in calls unless on speakerphone.

I've recently noticed that I don't get sound when making a phone call unless I change to speakerphone. I don't make many calls so I don't know exactly how long it's been happening, but I first noticed it a couple weeks ago. I know that the other person can hear me fine when I'm on either setting. I've also switched ROMs, from Alien to the new CM7 beta, with no change.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is it most likely a hardware problem? I've never dropped my phone or anything, and it's only 3 months old. Does anyone know of an app that can test the normal phone speaker, because all other sounds have been working fine.
Thanks for any suggestions!

My guess is it's a hardware problem. I would have it checked out by your mobile phone company.
You can also look up "hardware test" in market and you will find apps there you can use to test your hardware. Sorry not to recommend one. There are many there if you look them up.
Sent from my Atrix XDA Premium App
Thanks for the response. I looked for an app already and didn't find anything useful. There were tests for just about everything else; touch screen, sensors, GPS, etc., and only two that I found that had an audio test at all. However, neither of them allowed me to specifically test the "phone" speaker.
I just think it's weird that all other sounds work fine. I'd really rather test it before I send it in to Motorola.
Thanks again!
This was a common issue on the Motorola Defy's. I had to send mine to Moto for repair. If you're within a year, AT&T will replace it.
I am having this exact same problem with homebase. but mine is intermittent it will work straight after a reboot
More sound issues
In my case I just updated from Froyo to Gingerbread, everything was working perfectly, when suddenly i stopped listening to the earpiece, the loudspeaker still works during calls,
On the other hand, if I try listening to music or any other sound, the loudspeakers dont work... any ideas of what could have caused the problem? It feels like some sort of driver issue, because while trying our the earpiece and loudspeaker during a call I was able to listen to one second of conversation through the earpiece...
i do have exactly the same issue...
putting pressure just beneath the fingerprint scanner, makes the earpiece work for an instant ...
its definitely a hardware issue...
m really fed up with dead spots on touchscreen n this earpiece issue....

Microphone help please!

My Microphone gets muted every now and then. I doesn't matter what Rom I'm using it does automatically. Talking on the phone people couldn't hear me. On sense when i would put the speaker on they could hear me fine. Once I reboot it works. I'm on CM7 anyone know why this happeneds?
Could be a hardware issue. If you're using speakerphone, then your voice goes through the microphone at the top of the phone in front of the headphone jack, in regular mode it goes through the bottom mic...not sure if this helps any...
Help is definitely needed
I also have this issue. Once I rooted my Thunderbolt is when the issue started. Just as described the microphone will randomly mute itself, but if the call is place on speakerphone the person on the phone can hear me. Also if I reboot the phone the issue seems to be temporarily resolved. Any suggestions on how to permanently fix this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Besides a factory reset, not much I can think of. If it still happens, get a replacement from verizon..

[Q] GPS not working (icon doesn't even show up) and headphone jack not working

So I flashed to Carbon a while ago, everything was working perfectly, but I decided I wanted to flash back, so I used TWRP to restore my phone to its previous state. Now even with GPS on, and an application like Maps trying to use it to get a location, the GPS icon doesn't show up in the notification bar and nothing is able to get location. Furthermore, if I attempt to use headphones with my S3, I'll get a series of popping, glitchy noises, followed by audio only working out of one side. I thought this might be due to a bad solder connection in the jack itself, so I replaced the entire audio jack assembly, but the problem persists, telling me it isn't a hardware problem (with the audio jack, anyhow). Does anyone have an idea on how I could go about fixing this, or at least finding out what the issue is? I flashed back to a completely stock ROM (though I'm not sure I formatted everything entirely, I'm a little bit new to this) and I still have those two problems. Everything else works perfectly on it. I've taken good care of it, never really dropped it, nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
I should also note that I'm not 100% sure it stopped working after I flashed for the first time. It might have been having this problem before I ever flashed it.
Follow the guide in sticky thread, general forum on how to return to factory state. If still the same then you've damaged the motherboard.

**HELP NEEDED** Speakerphone/Microphone Issues :(

Hi Guys,
After almost ditching this phone recently due to several frustrations I recently took the plunge and installed [OFFICIAL][7.1.2] Resurrection Remix 5.8.5 with OMS by gwolfu.
So far it seems fantastic and I've managed to resolve the slow charging issue by updating the bootloader and modem to the 20V version and flashing the qc-typhon-h850-M6 kernel.
However my device is plagued by an issue where calling is virtually impossible, which is kind of an error seeing as the G5 is....ya know.....a phone.
When I try to make phone calls I can barely hear the person on the other end (i've checked the volume) and if I turn on the speakerphone they can no longer hear me. Even if I turn off speakerphone they can't hear me anymore after activating it.
Does anyone have any ideas how I could fix this?
It's literally driving me insane that there's such an amazing, smooth ROM which has extended my battery life something crazy but it's plagued by such an annoying issue.
Any help would be HUGELY appreciated
Bump?
I have a similar problem with LineAgeOS 14.1 on my H850 :/
I have a problem where mine doesnt work on the main mic, but as soon as I turned on speakerphone then the other person can hear me. Its very headache inducing because I use telegram and it uses the main mic therefore recording voice is useless. I literally took the plastic shell off of the part that everything with the charger, speaker, and mic is located and nothing blocking it.
I got the replacement module for the g5 and that still did not fix it. I dont know what to do.
EDIT: I just now found out that after taking out the motherboard, there was a red sticker covering some golden connectors, after taking that off fixed it. No idea why there was a red sticker there but please check and if it is there then take it off. itll be on the other side of the motherboard..
