Hey guys,
I seriously need some help, reverting my international HOX+ back to stock, as I am going to sell it.
My main problem is, that i have an o2 germany one, for that it seems to be impossible to get any suitable RUU
I am able to unlock / relock the bootloader, flash custom or stock recovery, flash any custom rom... not a problem.
But I'm stuck with the order of the steps! When I flash a stock rom (1.17.401.xx), my next step should be flashing stock recovery and then relock bootloader, right? I did so and got a security warning at bootloader and it seems, that there is no rom left on the phone.
How do I trick this, to relock, use stock rec. and stock rom?
Thanks for any help!!!
AW: Need help, going back to stock
you need the correct RUU for O2 brandings
yep. any news, where to get it?
thought, there might be a workaround...
I think there is no ruu atm.
I'll have a look for it.
AW: Need help, going back to stock
That would be very nice!

The only o2 ruu is this one:
http://www.androidfiles.org/ruu/sec...Radio_3.1204.167.31_release_289474_signed.exe
Based on your informations, you need a ruu for a german phone.
It doesn't matter that there is "UK" in the name.
The United Kingdoms are in europe, like germany.
Give it a try and tell me if it has worked or not.
If it doesn't work, open your Bootloader and flash an custom recovery/kernel/rom and wait until there's a dumped o2 ruu.

1.Go into the bootloader and make sure your phone is connected to your computer.
2.Relock your bootloader, using the cmd (Windows) or the terminal (Linux).
3.You make it with "fastboot oem lock".
4.Run the "ruu.exe" as administrator and let it work.
5.Drink a coffee and wait until it's done.
AW: Need help, going back to stock
Ok, many thanks for that!
I already tried that ruu, but maybe my fault was, I did not lock the bootloader, before.
Will try that, later this evening and give feedback

Doesn't work gives me bootloader error. Stops after updating signature...

what about running ruu, extracting rom.zip and flashing this one? ruu could be 1.17.401 for example!?
will this work or result in a brick? is this method still possible on one x series? my evo 3d provided this while using a zip named to pc86img.zip (or very similar :cyclops
edit: if possible, will the phone check cid in the zip?
pretty much same here, except I am on O2 UK, and a higher version than the RUU available so it doesn't work, so frustrating, just want to go back to stock
alternate method would be: flashing a nandroid backup of a stock rom.
problem: don't own one
Is anybody out there, who can provide me a full backup of rom 1.17.207.xx with cid 02___102 o2 germany?
that would save my weekend, guys!
Hi.
I have the same problem but am on o2_UK i cant get back to stock.Doesn't mater whatever RUU i try is the same.
I have 1.17.401.1 cid02__001 and really badly need to go on stock ROM
Any help would be great.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Hello everyone
I hope someone can help me with this.
I have signal issues with my device, htc one x+, and thinking of sending it back as is still under warranty.
I have the revolution firmware on it and want to know how I can effectively set the original firmware on it so that I can then send it back.
Thank you

Depending on your devices bootloader (HBOOT) version and CID, you may be able to use an RUU to get back stock easily. If there's no matching RUU for your phone, you will have to search for stock backups and recovery matching your CID in order to apply stock HTC rom/firmware/recovery.
What is your bootloader version and CID?

I don't know how to find the bootloader.
I found the CID using CID getter from the play store.
it shows it as : HTC__001

reboot into bootloader (power off your phone and then press and hold power & volumedown button) there you can see your version number. If i remember right you need version 1.35 or lower to use a RUU, or your phone has to be S-OFF.

download the 1.17.401.1 RUU, it should work on your device. Make sure you backup all your stuff before using it, this will erase everything on your phone!!

Thank you, what information you've used to decide what RUU to use?
is that because 1.17 is the latest version and because they bootloeader and cid I've given you tell you that my phone is european and factory unlocked?
In addition:
I'm aware of a few methods that can be used to backup: Titanium, through adb, clockworld twrp but none of these does a full complete backup.
What's the best way to back up all the date so that all my messages, contacts, apps settings and messages(viber, skype logs and chats) can be restored once I have installed the stock firmware.
Can you also point out a simple guide that shows me how to install the stock firmware?
Thank you

HTC__001 is a so called WWE (world wide edition) cid and i mostly read about people in europe having this, don't know what country exactly. and RUU is bound to certain cid and we only have those few RUUs for this device, so if someone does not have a matching cid for those RUUs you aren't able to use them. Also (as you've seen) your phone's bootloader is S-ON (Security-ON) like most people here have it, which means we're not allowed to do everything with our phones, for example we can't flash boot.img in recovery and we can't downgrade our bootloader version. This is the reason why i needed to know your bootloader version because the latest RUU we have is this 1.17.401.1 which includes bootloader 1.35 if i remember right. So if you had version 1.40 you wouldn't be able to use it because you can't downgrade bootloader version.
As for backup: I use titanium backup for all my user apps and app data (settings, savegames, chats, ...) and SMS Backup & Restore for sms backup.
But you also will need root to restore those backups.
To use the RUU, simply connect your phone to your computer and execute it. It should guide you to the process.

Thank you for explaining.
So I understand that if there's no a compatible RUU, it will not be possible to downgrade to the stock firmware, does this mean that after using custom rom, if I endup with a higher bootloader, I can't get back to my stock firmware but only change from one custom to another custom rom?
Where do these RUU come from? aren't they supplied by HTC, I mean if someone has a device with stock firmware but want's to flash his/her phone again, how would they do it? (for example in iphones you can get stock firmware for every phone)
Is it there a way to create a RUU when I have a stock firmware so that in case I need to revert back I can use that?
I'm on version 4.1.1 i guess, which i think isn't the latest version, after going stock firmware, if I upgrade, will i get my bootloader upgraded too?
sorry for too many questions

Bootloader version is not rom version, custom roms won't update your bootloader. There's a difference between "firmware" and custom rom. you can update your phones firmware (bootloader etc.) with a cid matching "firmware.zip" from an OTA or RUU or on stock this is done automatically when applying OTA updates that include new versions of those. So if your bootloader version was too high, you can't use the RUU anymore and you have to get back to stock by using a stock TWRP/CWM backup and additionally flash stock recovery and boot.img and then relock your bootloader.
and yes RUUs are made by HTC, but there are no RUUs for latest software updates yet. either they don't exist or they're not leaked...
Your bootloader will probably be updatet to 1.35 if i remember right, but as long as the RUU includes the same version or a higher one, you're able to use it, so you can still use this RUU when used once.
just don't do OTA update to Sense 5/Android 4.2.2 or your bootloader will be upgraded to 1.72 and you won't be able to use any of those ruu again.
I just forgot one thing, I have linux at home, it's not possible to update through linux as it's an exe file.
is it there an alternative?

I'm sry, as far as i know there's no way for RUU on linux. But i think i remember seeing a guide (either here at some xda forum or somewhere else on the internet) with a description on how to extract the stock rom and firmware.zip (which includes stock boot.img and recovery) from a RUU. So you could flash stock rom, boot.img and recovery and then relock bootloader, which should have the same effect. But i think you will need windows here too...
After running the RUU, it asked me to update the image, however it fails and it stays on the HTC black screen.
I've searched around and the way to install the RUU is to run it until the wizard windows open, search the temp folder and and a file in it called rom.zip.
extract the recovery or recovery_signed file from it and use fastboot command on the phone.
However when I try to extract the recovery_signed file, winrar says it's corrupt
how can I solve this or is it there another way to install the stock firmware?
my bad I had to fastboot oem lock
back to stock ,thank you!
is it there anything else I need to do in order to make sure that my phone is in the warranty guideline( i mean softwarewise)
Now I have got the phone fixed hopefully.
The phone details are as [email protected]
HTC ONE X+
android v: 4.2.2
htc sense version: 5.0
software num: 2.18.401.2
htc sdk api level: 5.41
How can I make a full backup of this stock firmware so if I decide to go back after using some custom firmwares, I can do so by restoring it back.
THank you

- unlock bootloader
- install custom recovery (CWM/TWRP)
- nandroid backup (all partitions)
You can restore this any time you need. Don't forget, you have to flash the boot/kernel backup separately in fastboot from your pc, so copy that backup to your computer once you have it.
BUT: if you want to go completely back to stock (relocked bootloader) you also need to flash stock recovery. i don't know how to dump stock recovery... maybe you can find some stock recovery.img for your version number here on xda or via google.

I have done all the steps but the one in bold is confusing me.
when you say flash boot/kernel separately ,you mean for the custom rom? how do I get the boot/kernel file to flash for my stock firmware?
I used TWRP to do a full backup, is nandroid backup necessary and what's the difference between that and TWRP backup?

nandroid backup = backup in custom recovery.
i mean if you want to restore your stock backup, you also have to flash the stock boot.img/kernel in fastboot because with S-ON phones we're not allowed to flash boot.img/kernel in recovery, hence we can't restore it using recovery restore function.
HTC ONE X+ RUU needed
Hi guys, i used to have a custom rom on my htc one x+ but now i want to put the stock RUU but i relocked and dicovered that my hboot is 1.40.0000 and my version-main is 1.17.401.3. So what can i do now?
I have a rooted HTC One from Telus.
I know you cannot OTA update the phone when its rooted it keeps giving an error during the update.
I want to unroot and return to stock.
I found found a Nandroid backup for TELUS as the RUU is not available.
Can someone please help with steps on how to restore the device so I can do the carrier updates on the device.... I don't care about the tamper stuff...
I know Telus will be releasing the KIT KAT update shortly and I want to do the carrier update.
Please help!!!
I am really sorry if this has already been discussed in a thread but I have searched high and low and I can't find any clear information for the Telus device.
Please if we can keep this just to the TELUS variant I will really appreciate it as I see so many threads go sideways!
Thank you for any help anyone can shed!!
CMD line is just fastboot oem lock. If you are looking at Nandroids, I am guessing you have installed custom recovery, maybe a custom ROM? If not, re-locking will give OTA updates, I am pretty sure of. I also think that the AIO toolkit works on TELUS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183942. Worth a shot. Maybe someone else who has tried can chime in.
Hey Thanks for the reply I actually figured it out... long process but easy...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383992&page=6
I left out a few steps listed in the original thread... worked like a charm.. i didn't care for the tamper .. I left S off and was able to do all of the OTAs..... if anyone else needing help this is what I did... if not refer to the original thread to reset the tamper and re-lock....
1. changed CID back to ATT (CWS__001)
2. re-ran ATT RUU
3. changed CID back to TELUS001
4. booted TWRP
5. ran a simple backup so I could know the correct location to copy the TWRP stock nandroid
6. booted the phone
7. copied the stock twrp nandroid to the right location ( /TWRP/BACKUPS/XXXX/...
8. booted twrp
9. restored backup

seems like you have a phone with o2 cid, so your out of luck, there's no ruu that worsk with that version.
but there's a german forum i recently found, where you can find stock backups (including boot.img) and stock recoveries.
http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-cu...04-one-x-plus-ruu-s-fuer-htc-o2-vodafone.html
just put the backup into the right folder on your phone, make sure CWM/TWRP recognizes this backup, then flash stock boot.img in fastboot, restore stock backup in your recovery, flash stock recovery in fastboot and finally relock bootloader.
then your phone should be back to stock software.
thank you so far. another problem is I somewhere I have to delete Superuser and relock my bootloader to flash the stock rom. Thats why I deleted Superuser and locked my bootloader again. My question is now can I still flash to stock rom or do I have unlock bootloader again ?

you probably need to unlock your phone again.
as soon as you restored the stock backup, everything you had on your phone except internal storage will be replaced by stock software, all settings will be reset, all userdata will be wiped!!!
so better backup/copy everything you need to your computer before you restore that backup.
I'm trying to return my HTC One back to being unrooted because I wanna update it and almost everywhere I read, you need to unroot to get over the air updates. So I got S-Off and I relocked my bootloader, but whenever I try running the RUU, it always fails. I tried flashing it and I tried running the exe file. Why does it keep failing? Also, is it true you can't get OTA updates while being rooted? The RUU I use is for Cingular (which from my understanding is the one AT&T uses) and I have Super CID. Lastly, if anyone knows an easier way to return my phone to being completely stock and unrooted that would be great. Thanks in advance!
Which RUU did you use? Apparently the last official one was JB 4.3 w/ Sense 5.0, ver. 3.17.502.3. The one for KK4.4.2 w/ Sense 5.0, ver. 4.18.502.7 was apparently not actually released by ATT and many people were having problems with it.
clsA said:
Well near as I can tell the RUU did not originate from HTC, someone was able to create it and sign it same as HTC would. But the files behave differently than the "Real" HTC RUU. The only solution I found was to use the True HTC RUU from 3.xx.502.x and OTA to 4.xx.502.x to 5.xx.502.x. It requires s-off to flash the OTA's so it's not the perfect solution for everyone.

So if you tried with the KK4.4.2 RUU, download the JB4.3 RUU from http://www.htc1guru.com/. Since you're S-OFF, you can use either the .exe or the decrypted .zip. I used the decrypted .zip before and it worked fine. Once you get that flashed you can then take the OTAs to update to KK4.4.2 w/ Sense 6. You'll need to be on the AT&T network to get those OTA. Otherwise you'll need to manually flash the updates, as clsA states in his post that I quoted above.
As for not getting OTAs while being rooted....
It's not so much that being rooted prevents getting OTAs. It's the process of getting to root that modifies or deletes system files that need to be intact for the OTA to work. OTA need to be installed through stock recovery. If you're rooted, it's most likely that you have a custom recovery. Also, unlocking the bootloader deletes some files the OTA checks for. If those files not there, the OTA will not install.
Flashing an RUU is the easiest way to get completely stock. It resets the phone to an out-of-the-box state. Whereas a factory reset done from bootloader or recovery basically just wipes the data partition, which will remove any apps you installed and user data. But any modifications to the system partition that are done remain. You don't get back the files that are deleted when you unlocked the bootloader.
Also, since you are S-OFF, there's no need to relock your bootloader to run an RUU. That's only required if you're S-ON. And once you get S-OFF, there is no reason to go back to S-ON.
Since I just want to get the new OTA update, do you recommend I just flash the update as opposed to going back to stock recovery because I don't mind having a rooted phone? Also, my phones camera suddenly became blurry, is it possible that the rooting had something to do with it? If it did, would flashing the OTA update fix it or would I need to go back to stock recovery or would neither fix it? Sorry for so many questions.
First off, what version is currently on your phone? Depending on where you're currently at you may need to flash more than one update in order to get it to the latest version. And no matter what, you'll need to flash stock recovery in order for the updates to flash. OTA updates, whether taken OTA or flashed manually, require stock recovery, as I mentioned before. Also, again as I mentioned before, the process of rooting your phone (more specifically, the process of unlocking your bootloader) most likely deleted files from your system partition that need to be in place in order for the OTA updates to install. If they are not there, the update will fail. So to answer your question...No, I don't recommend "just flash the update as opposed to going back to stock recovery". It won't work.
Since you didn't answer my question and state which RUU you tried, I don't know if you tried a bad 4.4.2 RUU or if there are other issues with your device and/or computer that's preventing any RUU from installing. If you just don't want to flash the RUU, then you can try flashing the update in the phone's current state and when it fails, you can analyze the error report, try to track down stock versions of the files you're missing and restore them if you find them, then try the update again, hoping you found everything. That's a lot more of a hassle than just flashing the RUU, flashing the updates, rooting, and setting up your phone.
Another option is to just flash a custom ROM. Most of them will bring the phone up to the latest version. Some will even take it higher than what is officially available from AT&T.
As for your camera problem, can't see how just rooting would cause that, but maybe it did. Without knowing the cause of the issue, I can't say if just flashing the OTA would fix it. If it's a software issue, then possibly it would. If it's a hardware issue, then probably not. Focus on updating the phone and worry about the camera issue if it still persists once updated.
Sorry, I forgot about your question. First of all, I got it working using RUU Zip M7 UL JB43 SENSE50 MR Cingular US 3.17.502.3-decrypted. The one that didn't work for me is RUU Zip M7 UL JB 50 Cingular - 1.26.502.12. Second, I am running 4.4.2. Thats for anyone who comes across this and was wondering. Thanks for your help sharksfan7. Also, in case you were wondering, my camera is still blurry, but I'll start a different thread for that.
