Can some one share the stock mms apk? I was trying to manually install the version from Team Blackout and accidentally overwrote the stock mms apk. The AOSP mms.apk crashes when trying to send text even though I deleted the apps data(could not clear cache for some reason) so going to revert to stock for now.
I need it for VRUAME7 btw.

Hit thanks if I helped you out. Doing a little bit of reading goes a long way. Sent via tapatalk.
I tried to use this apk and it won't install is there a way to get it to work?

Uou need root access and copy it to /system/app and reboot. System apks are not normally signed so they wont install with a simple tap tap.
Thanks!!!!

Here is the ported touchwiz calculator....
why should you change the calculator: landscape mode in twiz has more functions
push attached file to system/app
change permissions to rw-r-r
This was tested with iced glacier and cm7
also posted stock calculator is you want to revert

You can use root explorer to move it from your sd card to system/app, change permissions, reboot, and your good to go. I renamed it to calculator.apk so it would replace the original before moving it.
Make a backup before you make changes.
for those of you who flash roms frequently and want this to repeat this process over and over....download "system app backupper" from the market...help backup and restore

Download the bloatware restorer from the GingerBlur thread, and then search for the DLNA apk.
found it and downloaded the dlna.apk. unable to install it. says "application was not installed"
You could also install gladiatrix.
Then put the gingerblur theme on top

You can only restore it via the CWM update process.
Basically take the bloatware.zip and remove everything but the dlna apk file and restore it... works perfectly.
The apk will not work by itself.
Also, don't unzip it... Just view the contents and delete what you don't want. It's in System App and there's some ATT stuff in Data I think
Cool give it a shot in 10 mins

Didn't work. Hung up @ installing

downloads ginger blur again. Open the ginger blur zip and goto system/app/ get the dlna.apk on ur desk top and the drag it into winrar with window open to system/app/ .
Then flash with cwm and u will have the app. I did this for mine but i did it on a fresh install
i'll give it another shot 2nite. does it matter as to which CWM I use?
Part Three – Tenfar’s CWM Recovery
or
Alternate CWM
going to try this tonight. I just want to add the DLNA and the Media Share. Im a noob at this. Which method worked best for you? Thanks in Advanced!
I'm gonna wait unil 2.3 comes out sometime in july and see what these guys have up their sleeves.

The same thing happens to me when I try to install the Swype app....
Thanks for the link. How the heck do I get it to work without the constant force closes?
make sure it's named vendor.apk and change permissions to fit the other system apps.

Thanks for the market tips. Everything worked fine. My biggest problem is with the swype. f/c's start when I reboot phone. Running CM stable for vibrant. Don't know how to fix...
Good news, I updated to CM nightly 168 and the FC problem stopped for now.

If you having problems installing the swype apk... you can use Ti backup to uninstall swype, then reboot (important). install swype directly through "files" app or "my files". Worked for me!!
you guys realize that swype updates itself through the settings>input>swype settings> ..
right??? I guess its after the last update mines been updating
Any themes around?

As the title suggests is there any way to install google chrome as a system app?
If i manually move the apk file to system/app using root explorer, reboot my phone and then open the app it gives an error saying that the installation is not complete...
So can you guys help me?
Sorry for being a noob, but can u guys help me?

Sounds like Chrome does not want to be installed as a system app then Is there some benefit to having an app installed as a system app? Or why do you want to have it installed as a system app?

OK I don't know how things work on phones outside of the HD2, but can't you just push the .apk to /system/app with a root explorer, fix permissions in CWM and reboot?
Try to use ADB to move it and remember to set permissions
You need to extract libchromeview.so from the Chrome APK (found at: com.android.chrome-1.apk/lib/armeabi-v7a/libchromeview.so) and move it to system/lib. Optionally, you can remove libchromeview.so from the Chrome APK and zipalign if you want to save a couple of MBs of space.
This worked for me on v. 0.18.4531.3636. I attempted this some time ago on an older version unsuccessfully. If you have an older version for some reason, you'll probably need to update.
Latest titanium backup update said something about fixing conversion in what's new

If I'm not mistaken system apps load first on boot and are often quicker at starting up than user apps. That's been my experience anyways. However a lot of em are more hassle to convert than the slight increase in speed is worth imho
I'm currently out of the country on business and only able to use my OG over WiFi. Because I'm not on the cell network, I cannot sign in to Google Voice to use GChat. I'd really like to install the old Google Talk app to accomplish this.
I've tried a couple different .apks, but cannot get them to install. Tried putting them in /data/apps, rebooting, but get nothing. Does anybody use this app on their LGOG? If so, how did you get it working?
Thanks.
It wouldn't go in data/app it would go in system/app I believe. Could try flashing the entire gapps zip.

Damn, I feel like a dumbass. You're right about system/app, although the apk still doesn't install. I'll try the gapps zip. Thanks, man!

Shouldnt have to install it, just drop in /system/app and reboot. If might have other dependencies in the gapps zip that it needs though.
Got a gapps zip, extracted just the Talk.apk, placed it in system/app, rebooted, and now I am good to go!
Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
