It's possible. Just very hard, we don't need drivers to do it.. Look at sga2, someone is building Ubuntu touch for them even though they don't have drivers.

The devs working on it said they'll contact other Ubuntu touch devs.. or something like that, its a shame lopicl stopped developing as he was gonna add dualboot to his kernel:/

I already thought on giving it a try. I heard that it needs a JB build.
Sent from my GT-S5830i using xda app-developers app

Debian linux works on our device..No need of dual boot kernel...
There is app just like VMvirtualware..
Ubuntu doesnt run on a Device like ace-i....
(i am talking about ubuntu desktopOS not ubuntu touch )

Ask stupid questions here! Noobs here! Not dev topics!

This is a topic for all of your stupid questions to be answered rather than in the dev topics which is clearly pissing developers off ^^
Ask whatever here, just NOT IN THE DEV TOPIC!
First question: Why do you created this topic? You really think that noobs will post their noob questions in this topic? Noob is noob and nobody can tell him where they have to place their stupid question.
If you don't test it you can't say that it doesn't work
What's a noob ? ^^

But I think you are joking
Noob's question: If you port Android 2.3 on Wave succesfully, does will work ICS without problems? Need whether working with GSM, Camera, drivers again?
Sorry for my noob's english language
Noob question, already posted on dev but not answeared:
Is the GB a Cyanogen Mod version? I heard of something like that sometime ago in Froyo thread and never heard of it again... So when I say GB i thought it was it....
So is it a GB CM version? IF it isn't, why don't just make one? Wouldn't it be better?

When the kernel (drivers) are made then it works more or less for all versions.
The main probleme is then to port the new version and that is a hard job too (this is what Trigrouzen is doing).
I'm not a dev but I think that what I told you is right or something near the truth.

No it is a Galaxy S ROM.
Make a Cyanogen ROM is work and devs have to choose between them since it is a lot of work and that making 2 versions is not resonable as they are no full port for the moment.
I'm not sure but I think that porting a Galaxy S firmware is easier since the kernel is based on this device.
See! Trick worked on some more intelligable noobs lol
But those who are noobs that have sense ask here too! At least then there is less clog up in dev topics...

In fact CM7 will be very easy to run after we have a fully working kernel.

You can install downloaded apps and games by removing your battery. remove your memory card. now put your game files in memory card slot. and you are good to go..
Just kidding. dont take me seriously...
babonescu no applist here (against the rules)
You can install games and apps via kies

I think you are beyond a Newbie. (in formal language) I suggest you to learn SEARCHING. There is an awesome site for that! It's name is GOOGLE.
Please write right things to right topics.
PS: This is the android porting section. You can try other sections in bada stage...

It annoys me that me, as a noob, that I can quite happily read the first post of the Dev topics and not litter it with endless "when this, when that" questions because they ask you not to. Why can't people understand this? When an update is ready for release it will be said at the beginning of the topic. Stop asking questions and let the Devs get on with what they are doing, which most of the time they do FOR FREE.
If a free service to which you have no obligation slightly inconveniences you then you aren't really in a position to complain about it. simple.
Anyways I'm out, sold my waveII on ebay for a fair buck and now moving onto the galaxy W which looks quite interesting.
Keep up the good work Razyre! You've given this project the jump start it needed.

Your question goes to far in the future since the most important thing is to get a good kernel ( the Badadroid team is working on this)
For the moment Tigrouzen is on the way to port Gingerbread.
Then maybe later it can be port if the project is a success.
To sum up, ICS is not the priority.

Thanks for the answers guy...
Im guessing that it shouldnt be an issue because android is linux based, right ?
Some stuff like building Android can only be done on Linux. For most operations bar official update methods with official installers (Kies, Pc Companion and the like), Linux is fine.

Nothing should be an issue exactly for that reason...... However depends on your device with regards manufacturer linux support on updates etc, I know HTC like to issue updates as a windows installer bootstrapped exe. not a problem to work around and linux tools have been developed. .......
I never rely on the Manufacturer for anything tho, maybe because the first thing I do with most my devices is void the warranty
Personally I use nothing but linux, I had to stop using windows, It was wrecking my mind. I live most my life through the android debug shell, but I'm a little strange like that

Yeah i was on it, but with no success. I got it to boot but it was unusable. random touch input everywhere, also the same glitch as in clockwork if i remember correct. With no to little touch input correctly detected its hard to troubleshoot. And its pretty time consuming, cause you need to compile again and again then pack it into a ramdisk cause ray cant use a recovery.img format. So im off it for the time being, maybe ill look in to it when flykernel jb is 'finished'.
Does this help anyone,

No, you can't because it designed to run bada and you need to make android rom yourself for your phone, which is not possible as it requires high technical knowledge like compiling a rom, compiling kernel for your device using source of another device! You should have good knowledge of soldering pins or wires to flash boot loader on main board by opening the phone! The results may not be guaranteed, you might also brick your cellphone.

In case you didn't know (which you most likely don't), we only have libraries that are compatible up to CM9. And even with that, CM9 is still considered unstable. What makes you think we have CM10 or CM11?

ok... i ask for project not for rom ..... if you don't have idea please don't repeat
...there is no project either...
If there was it has been discontinued, either due to lack of interest or more likely due to the lack of required libraries (drivers, in a sense).
There is also a search button on this forum. Please make a search before asking.
