Questions go in the q&a forum, report your post and ask for it to be moved.
Your problem is most likely either the modem or efs folder, go read the stickies -especially this one:

I moved it. No need to Report it.

Don't worry you just messed up your efs with the new modem that latest 4.1.2 have, so now If you want to flash 4.2.2 and get carrier signal you just need to flash latest modem (baseband) g2/g4. (xxuemg2/xxuemg4).
If I helped you press thanks!

Hey guys,
Well, I've had an IMEI issue recently after flashing stock rom back to my S3. When I have flashed the stock rom back, it's written, "Emergency Calls Only" and my IMEI became 0049 and so on. After a while of solution searching, I've seen some post about baseband and modem V1 V2 or something which I don't understand much about it. So, what I did was to flash back to my old rom I've used before and now it worked! and that rom was NeatRom based on XXEMH1.
Now, what I want to ask is, how can I go back to stock rom with my network working properly without emergency calls only and messed up IMEI?
Update: Read some guy posting things about this rom that I'm using. He said it has an outdated baseband or something and I guess I may have to flash kernel, modem to make it catch up with the ROM itself. about it, if anybody has the file, would you please provide me with links to download? Thanks.
Thanks in advance!
Go and read the basics in general, stickies before you flash anything else.
You can't flash any Rom with a modem earlier than EMG4 now, so your stock rom was probably before this.

Please read general > Sticky roll-up thread / IMEI / EFS - Know this stuff.
Every ROM since July changes EFS. Why would only July ROMs do the upgrade then not August?

i have just 2 or 3 simple questions. especific quesitons that i cannot find the answer on your post. or maybe the answer is on the next 11 pages? you mention on your post only MG4 roms or newer. don't say anything about Mh2 . so the questions is kinda easy, would i am able to have signal and imea read on a 4.1.2 if i flash a mg4 modem after install ? . and same thing happen to 4.2.2 or 4.3 will i have to always flash a custom modem to have my imea readden?

You have asked no questions that are not answered in post 1. I made post as easy as possible for all to understand. There is not much else I can do about it.

I've got this fragment you wrote.
"If you have ever flashed XXEMG* (or newer) ROM, to keep your IMEI working, you must:
Stay with the EFS v2 basebands (MG* or newer). You may flash other ROMs but must return to the MG* (or newer) baseband
Restore your EFS backup (taken before XXEMG* or newer ROM install) to use older (EFS v1) basebands. EFS backup must be an EFSv1 backup to use an EFS v1 baseband
If the above don't work, consider sending for repair... "
SO i will have to back up and restore the mg4 mh2 efs every time i want to change rom for a older one.. do you know if 4.3 (as it will be obviosly new) will have a mg4 or mh2 mh1 modem? . im kinda having problems on my calls . internet and messanging are just fine . but some times when i want to call the automatic operator says " the call could not be proccesed" but dunno if this is a signal problem or it is just me.
does k tools back up v2 efs?

How could we know? Why would we need to know? There are new modems coming out every month. 2 in July alone at least 1 in August

thanks for your support u've been very helpful.
Hi everyone, my question is, can I update i9300 from 4.1.2 (XXELLA) to any 4.3 version or does it have to be for specific country?
I am curently running XXELLA that is for Poland, I was on XXEMC2 that is for Slovenia, and I am from Croatia, also to mention that original is XXEMC2 from my phone.
Also, is it safe for me to download 4.1.2 BTU XXEMG4 (UK) and flash over my current XXELLA, can i brick my efs? (I think it is an additional option to upgrade from btu version to 4.3).
Will i brick my EFS by updating to official stock 4.3 via Odin? I wan't to get to 4.3 version that supports OTA to 4.3 version MK6 (I heard it has many fixes), but I am scared to lose my network signal.
To sum up, what firmware do i need to get the MK6 update, is there any except BTU, and is it safe to update via Odin so my EFS won't brick.
Thanks.
You need to understand the basics before you do anything, sticky guides in general forum will guide you.
If you aren't confident then wait a week or two until MK6 is released in your country.

It's a good option to wait, it isn't even official for download to flash via Odin, I am just curious over what will or will not happen, so I'm just searching for some direct answers, when I read all those stickies and threads I got very confused.
Can i just ask, will anything happen with network signal or efs if i flash XXEMG4 4.1.2 BTU or MJ9 BTU over my XXELLA with Odin? Just to know..

I'm from Croatia too, and i have MJ9 BTU since day one and my phone is functioning perfectly, so no need to worry about network signal etc.
My recommendation is that you flash a MJ9 ROM with some custom kernel wich will remove the well known wake-up lag and battery drain that MJ9 has. Or you can just wait official OTA update for Croatia if you want. Personally, I moved away from official ROM 10 days after I got my S3. But as the boomboomer said before: read all the stickies to be 100% sure what are you doing
Hi, Before flashing anything or attempting to do anything make sure you read this and back up your EFS, If your already know about the risks then carry on but this is very helpfull. Thanks

Ok, I'll try to flash BTU MJ9 over current XXELLA and will see what happens, I already have backed up my efs and also nand backup, but i think i can lose my efs/no network because my IMEI was repaired with z3x box, I heard that if it is repaired with z3x i cannot upgrade nor downgrade anymore, will see what happens, if anything goes wrong i have z3x so no need to worry i think, i'll also try to flash mg4 modem or patch it with Ariza if i will lose my signal..
There is a thread with patched modems for those that previously used ariza patch, which should enable you to connect to your network.

I found only for 4.0 and 4.1.2 but not for 4.3 modems, and they are not patched, for patched i read that ariza patches modem but that it doesn't work with 4.3 android.
Can You please provide me the link to thread of patched modems?
Thanks!
Edit: I saw some patched modems for 4.3 but there is not MJ9 for i9300, also i tried extracting the modem.bin and patch it with zuluman patch and install through odin (put it under Phone section) but it fails, it says in the log something with bootloader, please provide me the patched M9 modem.
Edit2: Succesfully flashed patched MJ9, now IMEI is null/null, i'm getting really tired of this, going to take it to local servicer to update it for me, i think repairing imei with z3x box got it all messed up. And also finnaly i tried flashing the original modem back that gave me my IMEI back and than patch with ARIZA, nope, imei was 0049 etc.
In the past i tried to update from 4.1.2 to 4.3 and my imei has changed to 0049
I understan its related to the new modem.
Now i have a brand new s3 and i want to go back to slimbean 4.2.2
Is it dangerous to update from 4.1.2 to SB 4.2.2 ?
Is there any chance that my imei will change again or its using the old modem?
Thanks.

Is it ok to update to SB 4.2.2 with out messing up my IMEI?
It wont normally mess up your IMEI. It will on the other hand change your efs to the newer efs v2. Which should be no problem if you backup your IMEI in the first place and as all XXEMG4 or beyond use efs v2 your fine.
You should read this thread again which was already posted by JJegan. Everything is explained there.

btw which 4.1.2 did you flash. when you flash 4.3 rom efs will change to v2 so you need a rom with efs v2 baseband (everything newer than xeemg4)

yeah I know but which one (the build number) something like XXELLA or XXEMG4...? you can see it in settings menu
in fact if you have flashed a firmware older than XXEMG4 then also its baseband is flashed, and these old basebands are not compatible with efs v2 which has been flashed through your sammy 4.3 update.
This could PROBABLY have caused your imei problem and you would only have to flash a baseband newer than XXEMG4 to PROBABLY solve it. or your efs is corrupt than you should follow the steps in the stickies
