After countless months of quarreling with AT&T, I'm being brought back down to a 1yr contract. They had forcefully upgraded my line to a 2yr without my agreeing to anything IN THE MIDDLE of my 1yr contract.
If this has happened to you, and you haven't purchased a new phone from AT&T online since before January of this year, call them and raise some hell!

This is geared towards people like me who were on Cingular with a 1yr plan before AT&T bought them out lol. Their fraud department went nuts when I threatened to sue.

Bring your own phone and you're on a 0 year contract I've been month to month forever. I think my last contract was 07-09?
Don't let them hustle you if you get your own phone off ebay or hand-me-down from a friend.
I'm going back to Go Phone this week.

I'm at the mall here where I live. I go into the Verizon store rocking my new EVO 3d. First question they ask me is can I help you. I said I'm just looking. They asked do you have cellphone service now. I replied ...yeah with Sprint. The sales associate said...oh...we can't compete. She then asked me ...what phones do you and your wife have. I said my wife has the EVO 4g and I have the EVO 3D. Again the sales associate said...can't compete again.
I was like wtf...and the bad thing is was that she was the manager. She was like Sprint is the only company that has true unlimited data..and their prices is good as well.
I know it don't mean anything but i just had to post this

Verizon has been more expensive than Sprint.. so has AT&T and they still gain more customers than Sprint does regardless. I doubt there will be a mass exodus of customers.

A lot of speculation about it.. Supposedly third quarter of 2012 according to offical releases. Assuming you mean official release, if not we already have CM9/MIUI/AOKP all ICS based roms. Here is some reading for you about it

Hello,
While some do not believe it will see the light of day due to the Photon being EOL, I truly believe we will see the Update as it has been announced. I am honestly more concerned about whether or not Sprint is going to release a Motorola LTE Android Handset. While I can upgrade as of next Month (last Sprint Premier Annual Upgrade), I am planning on waiting it out until an ideally Motorola Quad Core LTE Handset is released. If not that, I will sadly get the iPhone 5, but I really do not want it to come to that. Definitely not getting the HTC EVO 4G LTE.
Cheers,
JJ

Sprint Premier customers who would've become eligible this year have one more upgrade even though the program is gone. Expires at the end of the year IIRC.

Japan’s Softbank Angling to Buy Sprint — and Maybe Clearwire, Too

this is good news.
I figure it will either infuse some capital into Sprint, or they might make contract changes allowing me to get out ETF free.

K. I'm not ready for a new carrier just yet.. I use roam control strictly for voice since here at my house I get really crappy service. Roaming allows me to make calls even in my basement. (as opposed to having to have my phone next to a window to get service)
If you are stateside you may qualify for a free airave. Must call Sprint and complain about poor service. Oh and have decent broadband connection.

I've been on sprint since 1997. So i'll call and see if that's an option. They better offer me that seeing as I've had at least 3 lines with them for over 7 years now.

I went to the sprint store following a month using roam control. Played nice saying I get extremely bad service at my house (in all honesty I do). I walked out of the store with an airwave unit. Now I get 5 bars in the house. Download is 2.5MB upload 1.0MB.

http://www.theverge.com/2012/10/15/3505180/softbank-sprint-acquisition-confirmed-announcement
The transaction is expected to close in mid-2013, subject to a meeting of Sprint shareholders, and the usual FCC and antitrust approval, as well as SoftBank's ability to secure financing. In the event that it can't raise the necessary cash or if Sprint gets a better offer, the Japanese carrier will have to cough up $600 million in termination fees. Likewise, Sprint will have to pay $75 million if its shareholders don't approve the transaction.

watch out for eBay. I had a very dishonest buyer that bought a phone just like that from me. They claimed they couldn't activate it and basically ripped me off because they stole the clean ESN info off the phone and then proceeded to claim the phone couldn't be activated.

What do you mean he stole the clean esn? If he tried to activate it on sprint, can't you claim it stolen if you refunded his money? Did the buyer send the phone back to you?
I had a somewhat similar experience with an old (in nearly brand new condition) uscc flip phone I sold on ebay. The kid wanted to activate it on verizon. After he buys it (and pays for it), he tells me he plans on activating on verizon. Now, at the time I didn't know the first thing about these things. I told him I didn't think it would work, or if it did, it might require programming. The only promise I make is that it will work with uscc (being a uscc phone in the first place). He ends up demanding money back and claiming I lied to him about being able to activate on verizon. Anyways, ebay/paypal found in my favor as the item was as described (he did a SNAD claim).
Given what I know now, I would of told him he'd need to activate it on page plus or some other verizon mvno and that it would require programming to be functional.
At the end of the day, there are far too many idiots out there that can't read (and write), and best to only promise the device will work on the original carrier only. With respect to being soff, swappa is probably your best bet. I would think people shopping there actually have a clue to what unlocked/rooted/soff means and understand. Do keep in mind if you ship the device with a non stock based rom (ie, something not based on sense or touchwiz), activation modules will be missing and the user will not be able to do a handsfree/ota activation.

Sent from my SM-N900P using Xparent BlueTapatalk 2
Not sure what to do. Have been eligible for a couple months and want to upgrade. Have been with HTC for 4 years but the M8 isn't wowing me for some reason. Think it's the waste of screen space. So for Sprint I should just stick it out until the G3 is released? I have an LG LED TV and love it so I'm assuming they make good phones too. Think it will release in the next 2 months or so?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
I thought the strongest rumor for US so far was that the Z2 was going to be a VZW exclusive. Maybe this isn't the case anymore?
I will probably wait for G3 as well if Z2 cannot be used on cdma carriers.
