Hey all,
After attempting to install the gsm ics leak and bricking my phone and having to spend an entire day bringing it back from the dead, I warn you not to go and install that if you have the same phone I do, (but if you do, pm me and I will be glad to help you fix your phone).
Anyways, on to my question: Does anyone know if it is possible to get any functional version of ics onto the xt910 canadian rogers version?
I would settle for CM9 or AOKP because I'm 99% sure there is no way to make the phone work with any leak. Thanks!
Cm9 and akop work on our phones as long as you apply the GSM patch if it isn't already implemented..
its not the smoothest though since you will still be running the original kernel and radio from 2.3.5

I'm actually on cm9 and everything is smooth, but I've found that if you touch Bluetooth, you're going to have to factory reset your phone using fastboot. Huge pain in the ass if you ask me. Other than that, everything seems ok. Still works better than Arctic.
have you guys tried the gummy ICS rom? Just picking up my phone this week and trying to figure out whether to stick with stock and wait it out OR flash and have fun...
I haven't tried Gummy (not sure why you would want that over AOKP or CM9, though), but I would say this: if you don't stay stock, you don't have much in the way of options. You can run Arctic pretty smoothly, or you can go for one of the ics roms and stay very far away from bluetooth. If you decide to flash right away, MAKE SURE you back up your stock image because otherwise you'll never get a rogers rom back on your device, since there are no fastboot files for it through the eternity project (which means they basically don't exist).

Gummy is based off the same source as CM9 and AOKP.. with only ROM tweaks, the same bugs apply

Nandroid backup of Rogers System
Hey I luckily got my hands on 9100 and not the 9100g. As there are too many roms I got confused on which one to flash. I downloaded miui ics version and flashed it via CWM it got stuck on boot logo. I had a nandroid so I just restored it back
The phone is on 2.3.6 so can I directly flash ics roms via CWM? It's rooted. I like cyanogen but I have heard its got bad camera app. Can someone guide me to the best roms and also to some must have apps for a rooted phone. SGS2 is my first REAL android experience.
And also the phone runs real hot.
PS : I have used search button.
Hang on to your stock for a week, then Westcrips 1.2 (4.04) gets released.. use the time in between talking on your stock phone, and reading up the 1900 pages on that rom
There is no perfect or right ROM.you have to test what fits you best.
Try different ROMs and kernels and you will find your personal perfect ROM.
I tried many different GB and ics roms and my personal favourite is Turkbey ROM v37 SE.
Very stable, fast and awesome looking

So, using that search button, you must have found the dozens of posts saying that going from GB to ICS ROMs, if you're stuck in boot logo or boot looping, then to try a full wipe, right???
Maybe not.

I would say go Cynaogenmod their ics rom is running very stable, but it is a matter of personal taste, but as a first time custom rom i would stick with Cynagonmod. You can find the latest release here. As for flashing roms while on 2.3.6 will be fine, just make sure you do a nandroid backup and do a data wipe, cashe wipe befeor flashing as this will cause bootloop.
I can recommend hydrogen-ics with latest siyah kernel because it is my current setup
If you are new to rooting and flashing roms then i would recomend get more experience before flashing a custom kernel. Although i do use siyah kernel and it's wicked, so if you do venture into kernels as well i would recomend Siyah kernel the same as gent.xda
stay on ur stock rom ,untill u kno ur phone well an read xda too,an abt roms there is no perfect rom (define perfect)i don think anything is perfect///////well as for roms spikes, omega, ics remix, hydrogen are good ,cm9 is always updating but if ur a teck geek miui ,cm9 is it...........cheeeerz

There is no best ROM it's like everything in life depends on the needs...
Read / backup / Flash and return to back up if needed
Since this is a discussion and not "plz can i haz the best ROM"
Post what rom you're on and the reason for it!

Hello
I have this rom in my rom slot 3, just as I been told trough the official thread.
If I do a full backup of the ROM in Safestrap after installing all my programs and settings, can I then Restore it to the Stock Rom Slot?
I have always done this with all the other custom rom's with no problem, I do not want more than one ROM on my phone, call me weird...
Wouldn`t do that if I were you... These custom roms are hard coded to only work on specific slots. In case of Liquid Smooth, it only works on slot 3 for now, but that will probably be fixed soon.
BTW, I`ve flashed CM 10.1 accidentally on my stock slot (Was on custom ICS rom) and now I can`t boot on stock slot, only on CM 10.1 (slot 1) and Liquid Smooth (slot 3).
Facing some issues, trying to solve them, but no success so far...

When this happens to me I always swallow my pride and go back to stock via RSDlite.
But I have always done like I said with all the custom roms, I have never had any problems after but the whole restore on stock rom slot.
But let's say, If I continue to use rom slot three. If I then go into Safestrap and format the stock rom slot, this will free up the space on mye phone right?
Not sure about that, but since you have usb working, you`ll always have RSD,.. My usb isn`t working, but I don't know if it's hardware or something messed up with stock slot...

What about making a backup file from the one rom you have working and restore it to stock rom slot? It will not boot on this slot at all?
I have been out in the dark maybe 100 times before, but I have never had usb not working??? Strange..
My case is that I'm on ICS on stock and on JB on rom slots...
I was wondering, did I mess my CID by installing JB over LATAM ICS, since there isn`t a LATAM JB release yet?
Anyways, sorry, completely out of topic here, so, let`s go to the point:
If you see me as a lab rat, you should know that I just tried flashing my working LiquidSmooth backup on stock slot, and didn`t work... At least for me...

Maybe you have to let the stock rom slot be, until there is a rot or rsd for Jelly Bean
Haha, lab rat!
I jus tried the same myself, but the device would not start so this does not work.
For now I have formated and wiped my stock rom slot, and I have liquid smooth in slot 3 wich will be my daily rom waiting for things to happen.

Yeah, but in my case no usb, so it`ll have to be via stock recovery...
Well, for now, since there`s no use for my stock slot, I`m gonna do the same as you...
Yeah, thinks it's the best when your stock rom is out of order!
But liquid smooth is a pretty neat rom, it makes me not wanna go back to the regular ics roms.

Btw, when I think about it I once had a usb not working with the first razr maxx I bought.
I do not remeber everything, but I fixed it trough a guide I found trough putting some files on my SD card and installing from there?
You know what tutorial I mean? Have you tried this?
No, haven`t seen it!
I was wondering, what happens if I install both TWRP and CWM recovery?

Some custom roms can be updatet sort of like your asking!
But you should make a habbit of always clean install custom roms, this way you get into troubles less often and the stability will often be better,,

Hey guys, i was wondering if its possible to flash over your stock rom through safestrap? And if i did would it mess my phone up any? could i still use utility's or rsd lite to get my phone unbricked if i somehow did?
The reason for me wanting to do this is because for some reason my stock rom "messed up" idk how.. but my wifi does not work. I do not know if lte works either as i am currently out of america and have no service. Wifi does not work on stock rom, cm11, any other roms. Other than cm 10.1.3. Idk why but thats just how it is and i do not know how to fix it. Numerous re-flashes to stock to no avail. i was thinking that if i flashed 10.1.3 over stock that it would fix the wifi on stock and possibly allow wifi to work on other roms so i can finally upgrade to 4.4.2!!
Any thoughts? thanks guys
I think you can in the latest safestrap (3.65),but I've never done it.
Also, from my understanding, you should still be able to fastboot/utility/red lite

You can flash it using SS 3.65. Just make sure the ROM is supported by newer version of SS(All new ROMs are). You can use the utility or RSD Lite to flash the fastboot files after if you need.

Hey guys! I'm using a Galaxy Note with a Bell board (was originally AT&T but that bricked because at the time I thought flashing an N7000 ROM would work, D'oh!) and I want to upgrade to a Jelly Bean Rom. I'm using Blackstar XI, a 4.0.4 ROM, and I'm looking for a lightweight JB rom. It can lack stylus/pen support, I found myself not using that feature as much as I thought I would.
Would I run into any issues using a QuincyATT Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 ROM, considering it's a Bell note board? Would I need to unlock my SIM first? And I recall there being a trick with Notepad++ I needed to do in order to make it work, even on my AT&T board.
I just have an issue with heavy RAM usage at boot and I can't even run some apps, since I know touchwiz is stupid.
Anyone willing to help me get it running on my note? Any help would be appreciated!

If you like blackstar, I would just flash Blackstar Blackjelly after doing a backup. It's what I've been running as my go-to on my Telus note. The other jb's are great too, but cm comes with the odd small bug like echo on speaker phone. Most of the customizations make them worth trying though.

Sweet. I could give that a try if the Cyanogenmod ROM doesn't work. Is there anything I need to do in preparation, since this is technically a Bell note? Or can I just go ahead and flash the ROM without any changes to the ZIP?

I'm assuming you have an unlocked bootloader already since you are running cm. Just be sure to have latest cm recovery or gimmeitorilltell's twrp (although other versions work with Jellybean, if you try kitkat or lollipop you'll have problems). Make sure you are flashing a quincyatt rom.
I have been using SGH-I717ATT-UCMD3-Modem with great success for a radio. Your mileage may vary.
If you get no signal, before blaming the rom, first check your mobile networks access point names and settings to be sure they match your carrier. (A good idea is to take a couple screenshots of your settings now before you flash any new roms as there are quite a few numbers involved)

Good news! I tried the CM10.1.3 ROM and it worked well minus two small gripes:
1. Occasional freeze/hang on lock screen, causing it to reboot
2. Random artifacting/crashes during video playback/browsing through gallery
I'm gonna say this is the best performing ROM I've tried so far, but I'm going to give BlackJelly a try! I'll keep you posted. Just figured I'd give Cyanogenmod a proper shot now that I know how to install ROMs!

Time for BlackJelly! Downloading now.
I also may need some help getting the SIM to work once this ROM is on. So that way, I can use this stock-rom based OS for actual phone things instead of it just being a tiny tablet! Yay!
Can you point me in the direction of the latest TWRP recovery that I can flash through Odin?

Backup, backup, backup. If TWRP successfully installs then backup. If something goes wrong you can revert everything or just the boot partition. (Kernel)
