Hi everyone,
I bought a new Sony Xperia Z (C6603) and I've been trying really hard to root it. I've used the DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit found on this page of your forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327473) because the v.17 would not work. I used the Root Checker app to see if it worked on both occasions, but it never did.
I believe I followed all the instructions correctly. I've installed the Sonly PC companion software, I enabled USB debugging, and I've enabled the ability to install unknown apps. I've extracted the toolkit, run the run-win file and followed the procedures, but nothing. Is there a reason? Could anyone help me out? I tried to post on the developers section but my account would not let me.
Thanks a lot!

Sorry about this being in the wrong section but it won't let me make a thread in the development thread, basically trying to unlock my bootloader, i've looked online for a few hours now, i follow instructions on unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com but when i look for the drivers it doesn't find them. step 13 says:
"On your computer, you will be asked for drivers. Point to the usb_driver folder where you placed the android_winusb.inf-file, and select the Android Boot loader Interface-file." the android boot loader interface-file doesnt exist, i'm slowly losing the will to live. someone please help i want custom roms :'(
Hi , the metod of Sony Ericsson are so much slow , in the metod of s1tool in 30 seg
The method on Sony's site (same as on CyanogenMod's site) didn't work for my unbranded Mini Pro (SK17).
Neither did the testpoint (DRM-preserving) method - until I tried using a different USB port. It is indeed fast, when it works.
you need to install fastboot drivers . search fastboot_with_android_usb_file.rar on google, there will you get that file on mediafire.com, extract it. it contains driver. when asked for drivers, manually install drivers by pointing to extracted folder
Hey yeh its all done now and running nerodroid, thats exactly what I did and thanks for the help

Good day,
Hello, this is my first time writing a thread here in xda. I really need your help guys, i've been reading threads from other sites regarding rooting android devices. I just bought my SE Xperia mini ST15i last Mar. 23, 2012, i had good time using this phone. Though i had read reviews about it that this phone had the "heating" issue, it's price and hardware specs caught my interest that made me buy this phone.
i enjoyed downloading free apps and games in the Android Market, which i found amusing for a first time android user. I have some previous phones from SE, the walkman series - which all of them were modded personally by me.
At first i was reluctant to mod my xperia. But apps and games which require "root" access had me craving for them. Because i've read reviews and threads that rooting your device not only can optimize its performance but boost it as well. So, just as i decided to root my xperia. I tried the method of rooting it without having to unlock the bootloader. All the necessary requirements ( adb drivers, stock FW, flashtool and DoomLord's rooting tool ) where met. I flashed it with the .368 stock fw. After it was done, went on the next step of rooting via DoomLord's rooting tool. Followed all the instructions, but i got a message with terms like; "read only", "are you root", "failed to install superuser.apk". I don't understand why the rooting process failed, since i have flashed it with the required .ftf file. I also double checked the adb drivers and found my device on the PC's "other" devices with the term adb interface, something like that.
I tried repeating the process, but to no avail, i still get the same negative message. I'm confused, and lost hopes that i could root my xperia. Could it be that my bootloader was still locked? Does the locked bootloader have issues on the rooting process. I read threads that its possible to root w/o unlocking the bootloader. I was really on this method since i have no plans of using custom roms. Hope you could help a fellow noob like me solve this problem. I spent hours searching the web for threads but got me left with nothing. Any help would be highly appreciated. Sorry for my grammar=(.
Thanks in advance.
Hello
I cant find any tutorial describing OT-903 anywhere, can anyone repost any if it's possible? the more newbie-friendly guide the better.
Cant find any info about this phone:/
Thank you
apparently some people have had luck with gingerbreak, none for me sadly I'm still looking for a way
Had the same problem with another phone. Will try this on the ot 903 if i menage to find a rom for it.I can name some programs for rooting but i haven't tried them for this phone so i dont know if they work.OneClick,Android toolbox pro and Z4root(the last one is an apk.You have to have the drivers installed for any of this to work (Exept for the last one)including the adb drivers. If you do this you are doing it on your own risk.It may brick your phone if not done properly. Im not responsible if anything happens.Good luck
Already tired the last one without success just so people know

Google search for ERoot windows executable, it's in chinese but the "root" button is english, I had root within 30 seconds. Just ensure drivers are installed, usb debugging on, etc, and hit root button!
Hi Guys, I read a followed the instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708194) on how to root the SGP 521, but no good results so far. I want to root it without unlock the boot loader to be able to do a TA backup. My experience on rooting is almost zero, but did it with my old Samsung Galaxy Note tablet and the Galaxy S2. Now everything is different from back then so I would like to get assistance on how to.
- I did download and installed on Windows 7 Pro the Easy Rooting Toolkit V17 & V18.
- Allowed unknown installation from the SGP 521
- Activated USB debugging on the SGP 521, Developer settings.
- Run the easy root tool and followed and the tool instructions.
- Rebooted the SGP 521 before connecting via USB to the PC.
- Run the Easy root tool, then it connects but nothing happened.
I repeated the above procedures a couple of times, but same result. I would value your help on how to root it appropriately. Thanks in advance!
My not be helpful but I had a similar problem and realised that when I ran the tool there was a pop-up on my z2 which I had to acknowledge... Might help might not thought I'd share

Could you be more explicit on the "nothing happened" did you had a message from easy root tool? Make sure you have the admin rights when you start Easy root tool.

I run the tool as admin first. But once I followed all required steps and run the tool, it closed it self. Then I run as regular (no admin rights) and followed the required steps. The tool connected the tablet and then stayed with a cursor blinking and doing nothing. I though I could be EMET (Microsoft tool) installed on my PC, so I uninstalled. But after done, nothing changed.

Perhaps check if you have drivers installed correctly and has no any other usb software running when you try root your device.

All drivers for the tablet are installed correctly. I can see the tablet connected on connection icons as well as in the devices admin setting from PC.
I will re-run the tool again & will post more details on what happens. Maybe there is something I am not doing right...

You may also try to run androxyde's flashtool which forces adb connection and also shows if your device is connected correctly. You have usb debucking on?

Thank you all! I finally got my tablet rooted. I did use the method advised by Pec74: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900
I also got the new July firmware update from Sony so I decided to updated and I re-rooted the tablet with no problems. I still have problems with mirroring the tablet to TV. Any suggestions for a room which will fix this problem? Thanks all again! :fingers-crossed:

Do not forget to do a backup of your ROM now in case you have a problem. You can use rom manager
