T-Mobile Buyers remorse - G2 General

Well I switched to Tmobile 18 days ago and got a Galaxy S4 and then a few days ago the G2 shows up on Tmo pre order and now its available to purchase online . I called Tmo and since I'm within 20 days of my initial purchase they are letting me come into the store and turn in my S4, giving me a loaner phone and Fedexing a G2 to me all so I can be within the buyers remorse 20 day window.:highfive: I have to pay 35 dollar reboxing fee for the S4, the only other way I could have done this is to have turned in the S4 for any phone now to reset my buyer remorse cycle and pay 35 dollars and then go back at the end of the month when the G2 is in stock at the store and pay another 35 bucks to turn in the second phone lol. I'm sure I'll love the G2 as I much preferred my Optimus G on Sprint to this galaxy S4 and if for some weird reason I hate the G2 I will turn it in in a couple of weeks for the Note 3 when it hits the shelves at Tmobile. Anyone else going out of their way to get a G2? I'm turning in a brand new S4 and eating 35 dollars for the privilege, the G2 is priced to sell at 99 dollars down at T-Mobile which is a nice gesture to try and move LG'S Flagship phone and Tmobile just got in 2 budget LG phones the F3 and F6 both with LTE. Just nice to see it seems LG is getting some love from T-Mobile at least, when I got my Optimus G I was shocked at the scarcity of accessories especially cases for a flagship device. Sprint stores didn't even carry any cases by the time I bought the phone and Amazon only had a few choices. I'm sure the G2 will have at least half a dozen cases at Tmo stores compared to the fifty or so they carry for S4 and Iphone 5, they only had 2 or 3 choices for the Note 2 and HTC One at my local corporate stores. Guess I'm rambling now but excited to be getting this LG, the Optimus G was my first ever LG phone and I thought it was just perfect so I have high expectations.

Don't get me wrong, the G2 is a great phone. But I like my S4 just as well. I don't see any great advantage in the G2's favor. With the way the stock screen is on the G2, my S4 screen is bigger. The S4 has an SD slot. Both types of screens are great. The G2 has a stabilized camera but I haven't noticed any big difference in pictures yet. The G2 sounds a better when playing music. Neither of them lag any for me and I'm running a stock kernel on the S4. GPS and 4G signal are the same so far. I'm not loving the back buttons yet but time will tell if I like them. Both have IR blasters... I can flash roms on my S4 because I didn't take the update that locked down the bootloader. I kind of like the gadgets in the Touchwiz UI that the S4 has.
If I had to choose which one right now I would probably choose my S4, but I wouldn't be upset if I could only have the G2. It really is a nice phone.
Now once the G2 gets some roms that will let me make the nav button background transparent like it is on the home screen with the stock launcher and get some other tweaks available, I may change my tune. Right now they're pretty equal to me.

I respectfully disagree. I've tried every rom and kernel combo on my S4, and it still stutters and lags in spots where it shouldn't. The G2 blows it away in general ui quickness and smoothness imo.
Not to mention that the G2's screen is much better to me. Brighter, whiter and still has good contrast and decent blacks. When I opened Google in my browser on both phones with full brightness, I was shocked how much brighter and whiter the G2's screen was. I didn't realize how dingy the S4's screen is.
There are more things too, but I just feel the G2 is a better overall device.

Like Sun and Moon, comparatively. IPS is bright and vivid like Sun and crapoled is dim like Moon

Probably then it's time to buy a pair of new eyes, heh?
The battery life of G2 in active state is probably twice as much as of SGS4 (games excluding)

I think so too

I run phones at 50% or so brightness. I have both phones laying on my desk at 50% and there isn't much difference except the shade of white. The S4 does look a little grey or dirty, and the G2 has a pink tint to it. But that may be due to the florescent lights I'm under.
Now, when I crank up the brightness, yes the G2 looks a lot brighter and better. But honestly, I don't usually have the brightness up that high. It just eats battery.

You're taking this way too personally. I said I hadn't seen a lot of differences in the cameras yet. I've only had the phone a day and my eyes are fine thanks. : )

As an owner of 2 Galaxy S4's, I agree with WizeGuyDeZignz.
The S4 and G2 aren't even in the same league when it comes to hardware and software. God knows I've tried almost all imaginable roms on both my S4's and could not get it to run smoothly. It lags and stutters more than any of the last generation Android devices I've owned which is terribly sad for a latest generation device.
It's hard to believe that both devices can be had for the same price, WHY would anyone choose the much inferior S4 is beyond me.
The S4 UI Lag, Camera Lag, and Micro Stuttering drove me mad everytime I used the device, I wanted to fling it out the window sometimes....like seriously.
Simple task like browsing the web will lead to much frustration on the S4. In desktop mode, it just can't handle complicated websites. It would crash or take 20 seconds to redraw on certain webpages, theverge.com full site for example.

Wow. I would feel the same way if I had those problems with the S4. Are these Verizon S4's that ya'll are getting all the lag and stuttering on? I've ran all the roms on mine and settled on Hyperdrive with a stock kernel. The ONLY issue I've had with the S4 is the dang 64gb SD card. My phone eats 64gb SD cards and renders them useless. But haven'r had any problems like ya'll are describing.

The stutter is inherent in touchwiz software. But S4 owners not eager to discuss it

I would like to see peoples opinion's on the note 3 compared to the LG G2. I am on the fence on the two. Im coming from the S3 so the note will be quite large. Being on Verizon we dont have the Nexus 5 option so it seems it is up to these two devices. My main hesitation on the Note is how locked down it is. We might not get customs roms on it at all. The LG G2 has Loki so we are good to go on that one. Both of the build qualities are lacking so thats a wash.

LOL, THAT was one funny movie......
I'm on the fence about mine. I got in on the Verizon unlimited data glitch and have a Note 3 coming.
I have a Note 2 and if not for the glitch wouldn't have considered upgrading. The Note 3 just didn't excite me enough to spend the money. I HATE pentile matrix screens and I felt like the move to 5.7" wasn't enough. I want something in the 5.9" to 6.1" range.
With California taxes I'm in for about $385, and I figure I could sell the Note III for $700ish. Then in a couple months I could sell my Note II for around $300 and have a nice little fund for a new device. What I really want is the HTC One Max, but who knows if Verizon will ever get it?
I don't know what to do.

The G2 is a really nice device. I hate the buttons on the back, but everything else about the physical form factor is great.
The screen is really nice, it's fast, excellent camera and battery life. I hate LG's skin, but with Nova you can cover up a lot, and now that it's Loki'd I figure it's only a matter of time before AOSP roms are available.

I have the LG spectrum and it's a great phone except for cheap sensors. Before I ever buy lg again I will install android sensors or sensor box on the store demo first. Cheap sensors have a lower range and/or operate erratically. I.e. Magnetic sensor: og Droid 0-2000, gs3 0-20000 and LG Spectrum 0-200!
What's it mean? Compass apps not reliable or accurate, Google sky map to jittery to use, auto brightness works poorly, when on call screen takes longer to turn on for the keypad, etc. At first I thought I had a lemon but LG insisted it was the applications.

contract up !!!! What to buy next?
My contract will be up soon. I am looking to replace Verizon samsung Galaxy Nexus which I loved. I was looking at the Note 3. I like the big screen.
I have a rooted phone and want to root this new phone. The main reason I root is for the hotspot feature. Anyone have any suggestions on what phone I should look at. I am using MIUI Android Rom right now. I would be open to even staying with original OS if it had everything I wanted.
Would also like a phone with a longer lasting battery.
Has the Note 2 had any problems I should be aware of?
Any help is appreciated.
I have time so I am willing to wait if there is a good recommendation. I also don't want a bigger screen. The note 3 size seems to be perfect.

The Note 2, frankly... is incredible. I've had the verizon note 2 for a year now and i'm dying for the note 3. my note 2 is practically my best friend at this point. I know i sound like such a fanboy but i literally just smile when my friends complain about their phones, mine never has any of their stupid issues.

I challenge you to take 2 1080p screens smaller than 6" and, without prior knowledge, tell anyone which is pentile and which is any other matrix with your naked eye.

I've had the Note2 for about six months... it is easily the best phone I've ever owned. Seriously, it absolutely blows the doors off the Galaxy Nexus, in performance, build quality, screen quality, battery, phone call quality... I wouldn't have upgraded to the Note3 if it wasn't for the Verizon glitch. ...that and my wife wanting my Note2!

I agree 100 %.
The Note 2 is BY FAR the best phone I've ever owned and I have basically owned every high end phone ever made.
The N2 is the first phone I have ever owned that I was 100% totally satisfied with and haven't been impatiently waiting for the next phone to come out for an upgrade.
I will still probably buy the Note 3 at some point (I have a line I can use for an upgrade and keep my unlimited data), although I will wait and make sure it is at least rootable first as I just know I would never be totally happy with a 100% stock phone.
I'm intrigued by the HTC One Max. I don't use the s-pen or multi-window much and I do use the external speaker daily. I'm hoping for more information about the Max this week. Also, my eyes aren't what they used to be so the large screen may work. Then again the Note 3 is calling to me since I have loved my Note 2 since it's release.....we'll see

Looks like an AWESOME phone to me, but I use the s-pen quite a bit.
This obviously is a question I can only answer myself but wanted some input from some people that have bathed themselves in note 3 info... lol and some likely coming from an s3.... I'm not eligible for a new phone until march 2014... however I'm sure I could call and call and eventually get an upgrade to edge anyway (done this before... it works.. just keep calling) edge obviously a bit of a rip off.. but i could kill a few other accounts i don't really use often to make up for the cost.... and obviously if i wanted to flip a phone i could do so in 12 months or so..... with that being said..
I do love the size.. and the bigger screen is preferable to me when it comes to videos.. and other things. The speed is obviously sweet and so is the size... however..
I use my phone to play general games.. not a huge gaming on phone person.. (less you could get league of legends on there lol)... i use my phone as a basic camera..... as well to surf the web... 75% of the time i have access to a desktop in which time i could use my phone as well... i do enjoy surfing whatever sitting on the couch obviously..... I'm really on the fence... I always get super hyped over a new phone (got s3 right away and it took several calls to Verizon to get it done) in which yes, its a nice phone with nice camera options... with that being said.. its still a phone... using it to call people is its basic purpose... i've started to utilize google calandar more and more as i have a disability that the meds hinders my short term memory..so that would be one nice thing.. the s pen is sweet.. looks so awesome.. but i don't see me using it much except to jot down phone numbers or addresses on the fly (which wouldn't be often.. i'm not a people person type of guy and my job doesn't require any use of cellphones) So i'm thinking a faster processor.. better camera..the faster processor and screen size would be the main reasons..... but do i really want to go for it? do i really want to get it now and go on the verizon edge program? I just feel like I may be jumping in and after a month regretting my decision... anyone coming from an S3 have an early opinion? ( i also am in an area where voice calling isn't that great... and i would hope it would be better with the s3 (its better on my wifes older galaxy nexus)... that would be something i suppose i would have to find out after the fact.. and use the 30day policy... to go or not to go..... been thinking about it A LOT for the past week.
Be careful... if you're on Sprint or Vzw, it's only a 14 day policy

Whether or not you consider Edge to be a rip off, I prefer it to dropping $300 on the phone, plus paying my ETF for my old line. That is a total of roughly $310 +$50 for last bill + $300 + taxes for Note 3 = $660 on the lean side. With Edge I spent $102 with Priority Overnight shipping, screen protectors, first month of Edge, and taxes. Now when I sell my HTC One, I sell for around $400 after shipping and paypal fees, that leaves me with just enough to justify upgrading to Note 3. Now in 12 months, I will have paid $300 or so, and I can upgrade to the next Note 4 by then. I find this better.
Okay now on to your question: S3 is a good phone, but no Quad Core Processor, 2GB RAM is okay low compared to Note 3, but 1080p screen is a nice addition, makes watching 1080p movies so much better (based on my experience with 1080p on HTC One). No more scaling, or downsizing. Honestly if you can get the Note 3 at $299 or Edge it then do it. I recommend it.
N3 > LG2 because it has a micro sd slot and no annoying fixed nav bar taking up display space. What is the point of the bigger display if you end up having about the same space as a 5" display (if no nav bar)?
S3 and N3 seem IMO two different devices. I have medium hands and find the phablets too big for one hand operation and awkward (too big) to carry in a belt case compared to my S4. That said, if I did not have several tablets, I would choose the N3 as a true all-in-one device.
this. the htc one max has my attention but the biggest question is when will it come to verizon? remember the htc one? and if htc one max has removable sdcard i may have to buy it and have my note 3 and then decide which i like better. i love sense when it comes to htc phones but cant stand nonremovable battery and expandable storage so we will see. and i really like having an s pen if i dont use a whole lot when you need it, it comes in very handy but if the ppi is much higher and screen is better on one max i will be sure of that so it will be an interesting few weeks

Everything I've read/seen shows a removable battery and 16-64GB on-board storage + Micro SD slot. Add this to the front speakers, S-Off having been developed for the VZ One variant, and the only shortcoming is the S-pen features that you won't get vs the N3. I've asked around recently to find out if any of that gets ported to ROMs, so if that's not available I think I finally know what I'm going to buy. I need a new phone immediately if not sooner, but just want to feel like I'm getting my money's worth.

I also sold my S4 and got the G2. I haven't missed the S4 at all. The S4 is a good device and I enjoyed it. However, the G2 blows it out of the water in terms of build quality and performance. The camera and call quality is also great on the G2. The only thing missing is SD card. However, I only had a 16gb card in my S4 anyway, so it equals out for me.

Also swapped the s4 for the g2.
You will not be disappointed
The battery life alone is worth the trade
(Also look at my samsung record. The grass is much greener on the other side)
Did the same, never looked back. If the g2 was marketed by Samsung, it would have been their hottest selling phone since the s3.

I currently have the S4. I'm on T-Mobile and about ready to JUMP. Don't want another Sammy like the note 3 however I sure would miss the SD card if I came to the G2. I understand there's about 27 GB to play with. I was hoping for the flex to be out by the end of the month but alas not till maybe April. I never liked this s4. I got it mostly because I was tired of my HTC one s. So how is the G2 for ease of rooting?

Rooting is pretty easy on the G2.

Anyways I posted my problems with the G2 coming from an S4 , the issues are still there .
One more issue I have found with this phone that simply bothers me is that the menu buttons bar doesn't fade away when browsing, playing games, reading books ,etc... they only go away when watching videos. Why couldn't LG make them fade and bring them up with a tap? That would make too much sense, having the menu bar on the screen make the phone feel like a 5" screen anyways just like the S4.
So a recap of my issues and see if they are going to bother you:
1. GPS slower to lock / no lock at all --- *update - It seems fine now but first week it was bad.
2. Back buttons keep turning on and taking pics - Still giving me problems and my buddy who uses loose pants same thing , it happened to him, any pressure on them while sitting down and your phone in your pocket it will wake the phone, quite frankly the back buttons were a big gamble by LG , some like me are probably never going to get used to them or like them there.
3. Sound is too low - Yup still bothersome, even at max level the sound is pretty low, I think the speaker placement is an issue. Hope for an LG update fix. S4 not problems, not the loudest like the HTC One but was fine.
4. Auto Brightness sucks - The S4 was king at auto brighness , hope LG issues a software update to fix.
5. Menu Bar Buttons - Mentioned above, I had to root the phone and get an auto Hide app to make them go away so I can use the full screen. But I feel a customer shouldn't have to root a phone to get things working. - On S4 no issues since buttons are off the screen.
Again some might think i'm a LG hater or something, I'm not, I actually like the phone a lot, I think the screen is superior than the S4, the UI believe it or not i think it's better than Touchwiz, the phone feels faster (and it should as it has a newer processor) than the S4 . But the issues I'm mentioning are real and hopefully can help you make a desicion. Some will post I never had those issues, which is fine lucky you but simply google them and you will see a lot of people reporting the same issues.
Good luck , me ? I'm 80% sure os of today i will use the JUMP upgrade and go back to Samsung as I felt the experience was overall better.

1> I agree GPS is slow to lock first time after a reboot, and is real crap indoors for me. Outside is much better. I had an S4 for a 6 days and it got GPS lock once after about 3 minutes, and the compass was always wrong.
2> I've never had that issue with the back buttons, and with the size of the screen, I'm glad they are on the back because I wouldn't be able to reach them on top.
3> If I wanted to run a party, I'd use a Bluetooth speaker. I've used the phone to play music in one room and been working in a room on the other floor, and still able to hear it.
4> Yup, auto brightness is crap.. S4 was the best I've ever seen for that. But.. Lux will fix that problem.
5> I personally like the bar always on. It isn't that the phone isn't working. It's that it isn't working the way you think they should be.
Then when you add in batter life and how much nicer the screen is.. I'm glad I switched. I had thought about just getting a different S4 assuming it was bad hardware causing gps/compass issues.. but haven't looked back. I do miss the ability to pull battery (haven't had any need too though), and the sdcard slot.
I traded mine my s4 for a g2 a few weeks ago and i love the change. Lg did a great job i love this phone, its better in every way except for the camera. Even though reviews say that the g2 camera is superior i don't agree i feel like the g2 camera was over hyped to me its really not that good. And the battery life is amazing but for me sometimes its also not so good it just drains for no reason. Im still glad about the change.

I sure appreciate the input of this thread. I would love to wait for the flex but I think I want to be rid of this S4 more. Sorry, this device just gnaws at me in a bunch of little ways... Its like, so many things that could have been just a little better... IMO.

I do not regret buying the G2 and giving my wife the S4. I just love this phone, I don't miss the amoled screen at all.
From S4 to G2
I also sold the S4 for the G2 and the only thing I miss is the sd card slot. An sd card slot would have made this phone perfect. The camera on the S4 is slightly better though in some respects, but the mods found in this forum make it much better.
I have both but use my G2 wayyyyy more. If the G2 had expandable storage (or 64g internal) and ditched the on screen nav buttons it would be pretty much perfect...i might even be able to own only one device lol

Went from the S4 to HTC One to S4 back to HTC ONE to G2, lol. Personally, the S4 was the least appealing. Wasn't as sexy as the One, nor a powerhouse as the G2. Honestly, if I had to recommend a phone, it'd be the One, but only for a basic user who wants a badass phone.
For a REAL android user, G2 ALL THE WAY.
Plus the battery was easily better than both. I used to get about 3-4hrs max on screen time with both one and s4, but g2 easily hits 5hrs with 20-25% remaining.

Who upgraded from a Samsung?

What Samsung (or any phone, really) did you upgrade from? What do you miss? What did you find better?
IMHO the design of the g3 was better for the white color, two-tone and not like a purse like the s5. Also was disappointed for another 1080p Samsung..
Anyone?
Design, UI, sexy. Came from S5 M8. And Moto x
I came from a note 3, I also owned a s5 for almost two weeks. Hated the s5 other than the water resistance, at the time there wasn't a root method. Loved my note 3 but had to deal with ROM problems to get as far from TouchWiz as possible.
Only thing I miss about my note 3 is the battery. Though the battery on the G3 gets the job done.
Beautiful phone. No problems so far.
Came from s5, had the m8 a couple weeks, g2, note 3, m7, etc etc
I miss a lot from the s5, although it's a lot of little things. Flashlight, call reject, all play store apps working (hell even my Amazon is a New version with a white icon on my s5) battery life (g3 is pretty bad) Milk (music streaming app that's actually really good), miss the option to have a text message preview on the lock screen vs "New message". I think the Samsung message app UI is better, the keyboard is better. Screen is brighter.
I am liking my g3 more and more, but it's likely I'll sell it and go back to my s5

Came from a Razr Maxx HD. Battery was failing. Don't miss much about it performance was pretty bad period.
Coming from S3. After rooting and debloating it a bit (freezing from Titanium), I'm fairly happy with the purchase (bought unsubsidized to keep unlimited data, not in the mood to play the transfer game). The screen itself is a big improvement of course in all aspects (color, size, brightness etc), phone is very quick without lag overall when cleaned up and runs better than my S3 on CM11, and battery so far has been nice as well. Can't wait till we get some roms going....just got my wife a G2 to upgrade her as well and she has been extremely happy with the rom I flashed....and I must say, the G2 battery is just amazing with that rom....maybe G3 will get close when the roms roll around we'll see. Happy for now!
Came from a Note II, but owned the One Max for a few weeks, and hated it.
FWIW, you can long-press the recent apps button to pull up the legacy menu button.

Those are some good lounges that I miss from my samsung also, I do miss the milk out the most. Has anyone gotten the weather on the lockscreen to work yet?
Went from a Galaxy S3 to this. I liked my S3 for the most part (though it did hard brick at the very end a month or so ago), so I mainly just wanted to experience something different by going with LG. I'm very pleased with the decision so far. Again, nothing against Samsung or the S-series, I did enjoy my time with them and the device, I was just ready for a change.
Had the S5 for a month until the G3 came out. I love the G3 and have no complaints. The S5 was an okay phone, but it stuttered way more than the G3 IMO, even with Nova Launcher. I rooted both and had a custom rom on the S5 as well. The only gimmick I miss is the fingerprint scanner for Lastpass.
Battery on the G3 is way better for my uses, the camera is way better and the phone just fits in my hand. The boxiness (I have no idea if that's a word) of the S5 really bothered me, but I liked the feeling of the back plate.

I upgraded from an S3 and am extremely happy. The G3 has all the same features as the S3 and more. I can't speak for any other phone, but the only other phone I was thinking about getting was the Note 3 because i wanted something with a larger display. I might switch this phone out for the Note 4 if it has some of the same features as the S5.

Came from a GS3.. G3 blows it out of the water. IU is a hell of a lot better then TouchWiz. I always had an AOSP ROM on it.
Im coming from a GS3, was running some oooooold version of MOAR. Wasnt too bad except the battery was going to **** and it would die at ~40%, would also lose 10%/10 mins under heavy drain because reasons. Only complaint is the god awful dpi of everything with this beautiful screen. I need to root, toss xposed on there and get everything looking nice. Also this battery, uummfff its nice. 13 hrs off charger still at 70% with light use and about 20 mins of messing around with a game.
Galaxy S3, upgraded today!

Never tried an LG android came from gs4, m7, gs5, m8 then back to gs5 and that's what I've been using picking up the g3 later today hope I like it. I got use to the no hardware keys and the double tap to wake off the m8. And if I'm not mistaken the lg does both of those.

Correct
coming from most currently de note 3 but have had m7, m8, s3, s4 and note 2. I like the change so far but I still love my note and isn't going anywhere yet lol
Personal preference I find the G3 a great light/medium use device, but runs as warm/hot as my S4 with heavy use and just as bad battery life. The Note 3 seems a much better device for heavy use, but most people are not heavy users so 100% get why the G3 is appealing. Perhaps it is me being used to AMOLED (Razr, S3, S4, Note 3) is why I find the G3 display not as good as the S4 or Note 3. Contrast is the key for me and even adjusting the settings documented on the forums does not do much.
The one thing the G3 does have over the G3 for me is easier to manage with one hand than the Note 3. I find video, web and gaming though far better on the Note 3. Must admit I am surprised folks bailed from the Note 3, since Nova is an easy fix for the gosh awful atrocity known as Touch Wiz.
As far as the S5, I would choose the G3 over it due to storage space. A 16GB device now, especially with ART sucking 25% more storage and needing 1GB more floor to operate is NUTS. The battery life and performance are not far enough off to want to sacrifice twice the storage space.

[Q] Any former Galaxy Note users?

Currently I have a note 2 and I love it. I wanted to upgrade to the Note 4 but I found the G3 for a penny on amazon so I jumped on it. This will be my first non Samsung android phone so I'm a little nervous. This phone is getting great reviews (except battery life) but how does the screen compare to samoled. I'm so used to the amoled and I'm wondering if it will be a huge disappointment. Any former galaxy users have any input. I should be getting mine in the mail in a couple days.
I had a Note 2 on Verizon. The colors made by the G3 aren't as vivid as the Note by any means, though they may be more accurate. There's a setting in accessibility that will help enhance the colors of the G3, and some would argue that will start to approach the vividness of a SAMOLED screen.

LOL no worries.
I had a couple of phones in between, so I'm sure the transition wasn't as dramatic as what you'll see. The other thing to keep in mind though is the added resolution in the G3's screen. It's 2560x1440 compared to the Note 2 at 1920x1080. It's CRAZY sharp. I do like the form factor WAY better on the G3 too. Same screen size, but the phone has a smaller footprint. Let me know what you think of it.

The note 2 is actually only 1280x800 so I'm in for a shock. Lol
I came from a Note 2 to my G3 and while i DO LIKE my G3, I also miss the samsung interface that i've become so accustomed to. I do like this phone, but i've honestly got it on craigslist looking to see if anyone bought a Note 4 and regrets it and wants to trade. Not having a Note phone has definitely made me realize that I used the features more than I thought.
That being said..... If I end up having to keep my G3, i certainly wouldn't be unhappy.

LOL OH YEAH. Forgot about that!
I made a huge mistake recently... I had both the note 2 and 3..s4 and 5... So I traded my s5 for the g3 on craigslist... All I have had is Samsung for years now. I loved the g3 but missed my s5. So long story short I went back to a s5 for 3 days.. Went back on cl and traded back to a g3. I had never noticed how much lag samsung phones have till I used the g3. Candy crush on the s5 was choppy...g3 its nice and smooth
I don't think you will be disappointed with the screen at all.. That was the biggest reason I came back to a g3... I use nova as I think touch wiz is a joke.
I came from the note 2 and loved it at the end with battery and CM11. I hate touchwiz and everything it stands for. I was so over the physical home button, I have been dying for on screen nav bar. Battery life on the g3 is awesome. Everthing about the G3 I love. Aside from the aux input quirkiness.
Yes. Note 3. Tmobile. Verizon but it wasnt connected. Then i still have my clone no.1 n3. The best clone ive ever used. To date she runs color os 2.0 and 720p screen is from another manufacturer a bit better than original. I am very impressed with what mediatek has done.

LgG2 Still Rocks!

Forgive me, I'm sure these posts keep cropping up but I just had to share.
Got a Samsung Note 4, and yes, it does a lot, and does it quickly. But....
Believe it or not, my G2 keeps up with it on all fronts and on many of them, surges ahead.
1st, the screen that the G2 got is still nearly unbeatable. I know the Note four is higher res, but the G2 screen is bright and clear, the colors are snappy and the thing pops. It's far more 'exciting' to look at and you really can't tell the difference in res. Further, the glass on the G2 is the most glorious I've used, very smooth and very, very hard. 2 years on, it still feels like liquid with very few scratches on it, without ever having used a case. The Note four, 2 weeks old, micro-scratch hell.
2nd, the battery kills the Note, hands down. I'm rooted and haven't refreshed in many months so it's settled down, I use DS battery saver and SD maid, and consistently the phone that's still living at 11pm is the G2. All the rest have collapsed and are recuperating with their chargers.
And lastly, speed. The Note does a lot of things. It's a productivity demon, it can multi-task very many different functions without ever slowing down, it's consistent and whatever you throw at it -games open, internetting, office+cloud, video/music, Facebook, split window, multi-window, window-in-window, - all AT THE SAME TIME, it doesn't stumble. Doesn't even cough.
But.
The G2 is faster. Imagine that. At everything it does within its system, it's faster. Once on the net no phone can beat the Note's vicious engine but everything within the G2's system is quicker. Opening and switching Apps, gliding through screens etc is not only very fast but very smooth, and.... The experience is like no other because of that wonderfully curved, beautifully coated, extra tough glass.
A bonus: that beautifully constructed, stock G2 home launcher! Yeah, I know, I'm the first to change launchers, used them ALL trust me, all, the stock G2 launcher is the slickest.
I was going to sell my G2 but I'm going to keep it. For life. Once in a while a company gets it right, and the G2 got it right. The few things it didn't, it tried to correct for in the G3 - the measly 16gb which just doesn't cut it these days, no access to the battery or to expandable memory -these things hurt it but the G3 is a completely different machine. And it's not as good.
The LgG2 chassis has become quite simply, one of the best I've ever owned. Things came together for LG here like a good number one hit - very hard to replicate. I hope they manage to pull something off with the G4 that erases their rush with the G3 - not that it's a bad Phone.
Sorry for my rant but there it is. After a month with both phones side-by-side, I had to let you all know. The G2 rocks properly. Like nothing else out there. Still.

Agreed... I have had mine for over a year Now...I used to be a phone addict always wanting something faster...well the lg g2 is the only phone that has felt "fast" enough...the battery is amazing and the screen is amazing as well..I kivr the bezel and lg's software...hands down the best phone I have ever owned still 1 year down the road.
G2 r0cKz
I have g2. Not selling yet. But I like g3 and note 4 is really good. I think I can keep g2 for this year.

Still rocking my g2 but a lot of your post is just patently false from using my gf's Note 4. The res is distinguishable, text looks a lot crisper on the note and that's something I noticed from first glance. Same for performance, I'm satisfied with my G2's performance but the G3 and Note 4 are just snappier. Only thing I can't speak definitively on is battery life as I haven't used the Note 4 for extended periods of time but I don't see how a used G2 battery is beating a brand new phone's battery, even if the resolution is higher the note is also amoled which will save power in certain circumstances. That sounds more like app/wakelock differences or one phone being rooted with the correct kernels/changes while the other is not.
We can love our G2 because it's still a great phone without hyping it against newer models. I'll probably have my g2 until the G4 or some other phone comes out later this year but I won't delude myself into thinking it's an objectively better phone than things with objectively better screens/processors/battery.
I got my G2 bundled with a postpaid plan on a 2-year contract. At the time, I was expecting that, after a year, I'd be looking for a replacement phone just to keep up with the times. But it's already been 16 months, and I still can't find any reason to drop this phone and get a new one. Heck, I even like this better than the G3, TBH. I even think that I'll be keeping this one active even after I renew my contract and get a new phone, maybe the next Note.
Agree G2 is perfect sized phone. Especially with the Verzion version having wireless charging. Do wish it had microSD slot. Thankfully Google+ backup fixes that.
Obsessive
Speed, Display, Power, Features and whatnot? You name it and we have it. Salute to the LG for pulling up a truly smartphone. Truly Amazing.

I don't think you have lived with both phones. The LgG2 screen is immediately richer and more iridescent than the Note 4. It is only on prolonged use that res begins to show, and only because the Note uses and handles small text better and has deeper Black's on images. You DO realise after a while that indeed, the qHD on the Samsung is the best on the market - you get it when you try to go back to full HD, don't let anyone kid you - and it becomes clear that LG accentuates the brilliance of its screens - but that's not the point. In use, the LgG2 remains an exciting display, and the glass on it is unsurpassed even by the Note 4.
The battery in the LgG2 only seems to get better, the longer the phone sits on its hardware undisturbed, and is factually, longer-lasting than the Note 4. In fact, battery life is the main issue facing the Note. You will need your spare before the day is over and I suspect all firmware updates will be focused on this for a while.
The Note is a beast, no doubt. The point here is not comparison. It is that the LgG2 in particular, 2 years into the fray, is no slacker.
The G3? The jury is back on that one - they'll have to fix it with the G4 - the reviewers are well aware of that, it's all over the place. Where the G2 was splendid, the G3 was just the 1st with qHD.
It will need more than that this year.
Just saying.

I agree! I sold mine last year and have had numerous phones since then. Some of them multiple times! The G2 remains my favorite. I currently have the 6 Plus, and decided the other day to sell it and grab me a 128gb iPad Air 2 and pick up an older phone. I'll end up about even on the deal. Well, I have a mint Nexus 5, a mint LG G2, and a new LG G2 in the mail heading my way. Found a great deal on the new one after buying the mint condition and couldn't pass it up. I'm not sure whether I'll keep the Nexus or the G2, but I'm excited to give the G2 another run!

I still enjoy my G2, still performs just as sharp as the day I got it about 13 months ago. Because it's a D800, I expect AT&T to have us wait for the Lollipop update. Rooting is out of the question for me, as I have experienced overheating both times I tried it.
