HTC said they would be getting 4.3 on the DNA by end of September. Hopefully that is still true.
Does anybody know if the 4.2 or 4.3, which ever it ends up being, has photosphere as a feature of the stock HTC camera app?

Either way.. the devs will have us on 4.3 once source drops for sure.. Currently the Sense 5 roms our are 4.2.x I think and they are pretty damn solid .. Been using justin's release of joelz port for a long time now since released.. Not 1 issue for me!!
Anybody else have mixed feelings about the Sense 5 upgrade? I really have grown to love the the DNA's iteration of Sense 4.

I highly doubt it, since the HTC One doesn't even have photosphere in stock Sense.
Supposedly KitKat 4.4 is coming out next month so some of you Sense guys will convert to CM to get some of that new goodness :highfive:

not at all. I'm frankly sick of not being able to launch things like Reddit URL's into a native app. Sense 5 = no more app associations menu = happy me.
The update would be nice, but I'm not really hoping for it because of lack of support for older devices. Seems to be a trend to get us to buy the more recent phones.

I'm not aware of this change in the newest Sense, but purely from an aesthetics standpoint I'm not the biggest fan of Sense 5.
I hope they remove that god-awful color enhancement in the kernel.

That "feature" was taken out of Sense 5 after Apple and HTC settled the lawsuit about intelligent application picking. The only reason they added it was to get around the ruling, and it was never present in the overseas versions of Sense 4.5

Fine, ASOP then. Having said that, is there an app(s) that I can get the Sense widgets at least? You can't deny the functionality of Sense widgets.

Having come from a HTC device, which I ran as aosp, my comments are;
Sense widgets were easily replaced from the market. Many alternatives were superior to the sense equivalent.
You cannot have sense widgets without the sense kernel and framework
If it's touchwiz you dislike, just get a launcher from the market.
As a former AOSP developer, I have to recommend that you stay with sammy plus launcher for a while. Sammy roms are feature packed and you will lose loads by going to aosp. Don't jump ship until you know what you've got and whether or not you want it.

Google Now has nothing to do with Sense 4... It's a JB feature that's been ported to ICS (though we don't have the most current version ported)
The differences between the two are mostly cosmetic and improvements in processes - http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/45134/htc-sense-3-6-vs-sense-4
Neat article. I like the 3.6 clock widget better and Rosie and my seamless rotating carousel. The new Rosie reminds me of the old 'eris' days. Some of the devs used nav bars similar to sense 4+ on their sense roms.I also like my app drawer better vertical. But...I probably wouldn't complain if I had a droid dna...lol.

Have tried the 4.x ROMs and definitely prefer Sense 3.6. I like the widgets that work with Exchange much better (tasks, calendar) than with the "newer" versions. For instance, you can postpone a task by day or longer in 3.6 but postponing in 4.x is much more clumsy.
I'm curious about what the M7's v5 will look like, but I can certainly wait.
I really like Sense 3.6...at least everything worked on it **cough cough MHL cough cough**.
The ONLY drawback to Sense 3.6 IMHO...lack of landscape features in Sense (ala Sense 4.x)
Very Satisfied with 3.6 Rom

a similar phone to the inc4g would really need to get sense5 to port it (and of course we need jellybean of our own first)
and since sense5 no longer uses m10 files (which is what is typically resized on roms now to fit different resolutions) not sure on the sizing issues
and theres no "building from scratch" its taking an existing rom and hacking it up to work on this device

No, he's right. Sense 4+ is the actual version name above 4.1. We've only gotten 4.1 so far. NBD anyway, Cyanogenmod is much better than any Sense ROM.
I believe the misunderstanding is that Sense 4+ is a different version other than what we have but Sense 4.x is actually what we have. If I'm wrong please correct me.

mdmower sense goes from 2.1 to 5.0, respestive order is
2.1 2.5(2.1 on gingerbread) 3.0 3.5(GB) 4.0 4.1(ICS) 4+(jelly bean) 5.0(only HTC one for now) and I still think 4+ will eventually be rolled out but sense 5 will be a hard port since resizing is gonna be harder

Unfortunately, being on Verizon, we are S.O.L. I doubt we'll see 4+ or Sense 5. I doubt we will even see JellyBean before most of us are eligible for upgrades. So for those like me who aren't in to flashing customer ROMS, we probably will not see it.
well, sure it might take some time before a possible JB update from verizon arrives for us. but personally I'd be fine if that's just 4.1.2 (latest 4.1.x JB that brings us "project butter" ) ...and comes with Sense4+. Sense4.1 already slimmed down the visual effects quite a bit and from my piont of view, Sense5 is slimmed down too much, over-simplified and removes that neat lock-ring that HTC Sense is so much well known for *haha* ... i'd really hate to loose it!

I was hoping it would make it easier to port 4.2.2 but I thought the kernel would still be some kind of issue.
Hopefully this brings Sense development back to life for the Evo LTE. I'm not impressed with the One tbh, and never liked Touchwiz. Sprint also still doesn't have 4G of any kind in my area. Verizon might be my next jump.

Basically all third party apps can't access the camera for some reason on this ROM.... (Vine, Snapchat, Instagram)
I forced myself to go back to MeanBean just for Fouth of July so I can video the fireworks. After I was done, I flashed Sense 5 right away lol.
The last time I tried the Sense 5 port, it was fun. But as you all are saying, I use my social media apps a lot, especially Instagram as I am a photographer. So I had to go back to Viper.
I played with AOSP and loved the multiple users feature. I could manage all of my social media accounts from my phone, but the fact that there's no animated .gif support in stock android killed me, as I use those a lot also. Hoping that this update answers both of my problems.
