[Q] Font on Xperify Second Edition - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

I downloaded and installed [ROM][ALL MDPI][4.2.2] Xperify Second Edition |AOSP| |Xperia Z/i1 for Xperia Active (satsuma). Great ROM!
Only downside so far is the font, it's just not sharp, like missing cleartype on a desktop pc. It's most noticable on the letters H and B where the middle of the letter looks bold.
Is there any way to improve this?

U can change font easily.
Just look back in in our themes and apps thread, there are some posts offering fonts to flash. Our search google.
U can also use a ftf fobt file from pc, and apply it via font changer app from market.

Was looking to improve the standard font on the ROM, but now I've changed the font using .ROM Toolbox lite and this works.

Gallery 3D.apk from x10i worked and black theme

yes it works you must have rooted your phone
i copied Gallery3D.apk from my x10i to my x10 mini pro on sdcard, with root eplorer copied into system/app ( sure you mount rw) and set permissions to 644 (user read-write,group read, others read)
and with adw launcher i put a shortcut on my screen
long press on screen, other short command, Select Activity, Activities, scroll to galerie and choose it, now you have a short cut for 3d gallery
download gallery3D.apk from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826849
better download GalleryFixedCamera.apk frome here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829571 thanks sanjay_bandaru
now you can launch the app fom app drawer on your homelauncher and you can launch camera directly
and look for a nice black theme, http://www.mobil-talk.de/android/6857-theme-mini-goes-black.html worked too, thanks to Bueffel
sry for bad english
I've been "reading" (I don't speak German) the black theme thread, but I don't know what files I have to download for my x10 mini (not pro) with android 2.1 (nordic firm).
Can anyone help me?
basically the last 2 added (which you could have imagined by name 2.0.xxxxx^^)
i think in order to change the most things framework does the job
to get fully black theme you'll need to change the apps as well.
change it as descrebed here in the forum section as any other theme as well
greets Mo
Great find on that black theme. Personally its better than the blue theme but just to black here and there for my liking. I find pulpoff and draco_ag's theme for the 1.6 (hopefully to be ported to 2.1) more pleaseing to the eye a tad greyer here and there. But i appreciate the work done

Anyway to get this working with the default launcher?
@ abhi98228 hmm for me all worked, no problem with market.
@iphonepimp what working with default launcher? 3d Gallery? Check the GalleryFixedCamera.apk on my first post, it worked.
I like the gallery... but there is one bug with the detailsbutton... it's to big (the button on top if you choose a image).
I copy a smaler picture from the apk over the big detailbutton to fix this, but can't resign the apk correctly. I attached my apk (you have to remove the old app, then install the new apk) and the smaler image. perhaps someone can correctly resing the apk with the image.
Thanks for the new apk. works well.
This is nice thanks a lot!

Gmail inbox becoming bold with new messages

I noticed recently that when I receive a new Gmail message, the new message is highlighted and bold, etc. just like normal...but every other message in my inbox is also bolded. And once I read the message and I have ZERO new messages, everything remains bold until the app is either force closed or ends by itself (by Android multitasking or whatever).
I thought it was due to the ICS theme I'm using, but I'm seeing now that every theme is doing this...I also installed the Roboto font sometime before the ICS theme, so maybe that's it? I used the font from the Font Installer app in the market.
I tried searching for more info, but it doesn't seem anyone has this problem. I've deleted data/uninstalled and reinstalled the Gmail app a few times and it still winds up happening. At first I thought it happened randomly, but I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to only when I get new emails.
Not a big problem, but annoying nonetheless. Does anyone know what could cause this and/or how to fix?
Having the same issue as well. Running the ICS theme by Sonny on CM7. I also installed the Roboto font. Kind of weird though I didn't notice this right off though. Seems like it took a few days after installing the ICS theme before it happened to me.
A fix would be nice, but as you said it's not a huge issue, but I'm curios as well as to the cause.

Which Roboto are you using? Did you use a Market app to install it or a CWM zip or something?
I used the font installer included in Rom Toolbox, I do believe it's the same as Font Installer on the market by Jrummy (uses the same storage location on the Sd Card anyway)
To be honest, I'm not positive on which version of the Roboto font was installed. I placed all versions (Bold, Itallic and regular in my fonts folder). The font installer shows me a preview of only the Bolded version, which looks like what I'm getting in Gmail.
I'm going to download FontChanger from the market and see what happens with that.
Edit: Tried Font Changer. While it does give more options and the ability to choose whichever version the of the Font I want to install, still have the same issues. After a reboot, all my read email was perfect, as soon as I sent an email to myself, right back to all unread mail being bold again.

Only with Roboto font. I tried a few other fonts and no problems. Weird

Hmmm lame.. I think I'm gonna try installing Roboto from another source then some time to see if that helps. I don't really see why a font would make this happen
Ok, now this is weird. I used Helvetica which is very similar to Roboto, and sure enough, the same thing happens. Bold read emails. I switch to Caviar Dreams font, and back to the normal Unbold read emails in Gmail. Wow this is really crazy

Hmmm kinda seems like its just a problem with certain fonts that's gone mostly unnoticed before now! I was gonna flash the roboto font in zip form, but the flash failed so I'll have to figure that out next. What other options for installing roboto are there?
Map the font in this manner using fontchanger:
DroidSans --> Roboto-Regular or Roboto-Condensed
DroidSans-Bold --> Roboto-Bold or Roboto-CondensedBold
This should fix your issues.

Ubuntu font workaround

When using Ubuntu font many users see rectangles in different places, that don’t belong there. They come from the .notdef character which in that very font has a rectangle shaped outline. This character appears when the font doesn’t contain a character for the codepoint requested. It seems like some apps use codepoints different from usual spacing characters to show empty room: e.g. with launcher pro in the app drawer long names are shortened with an ellipsis after which those squares appear. The reason why using other fonts doesn’t show these squares is, that some fonts only have an empty space at .notdef, so no outline appears. One can verify this by using the DroidSansNotdef.ttf which I attach. There I’ve only added an outline to the .notdef character and you’ll get the same behaviour as with the Ubuntu font.
UbuntuAndroidfix.ttf has an empty space in .notdef so it isn’t visible. Nevertheless, this is only a workaround for a bug that’s somewhere else.
Edit: As shown below, the real reason is missing U-FEFF in the font, so it is a font bug. Attached you find all four styles (Ubuntu regular, italic, bold and bold italic) with the added character.
20.4.12 — New version: added spacing characters U-2000—U-200F to fix some more box-char appearances.
Basically after searching a bit more i found this workaround: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16895848&postcount=269 It seems better. But thank you anyway!
Of course this is better, it’s not only a workaround, it’s a fix.
I attach a new version of the fixed font with the added glyph. At least the Droid Sans that I downloaded from Google webfonts (to be sure that I have the latest...) doesn’t contain it.
Edit: Attachment removed, new attachment in first post.
Yeah thats right. But which program do you use to edit the font?
I used the Font Creator and the output size of the font is 312kb (instead of 335kb of the original ubuntu font). Your font is about 680kb. I used the droidsans.ttf from ICS platform (v1.0 build 114) and it did contain the glyph
I use fontforge and I'm doing font design in my spare time. But I've never thought about file sizes. I'll have a look at it later.

h i like the font. Nice!
The font is really good!
I love Greek & Ancient Greek letters in your font (i like the curves) but italic Greek just isn't my type. I think it should be less space between some letters.
Great work

I’ve found the reason for the bigger size. I’ve overseen to untick the old style kern table option. Now it’s only 273,4kb. I’ll upload it together with bold and italic.

If you don’t want to reflash you can also use a font installer program like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.font.installer

You’re welcome!
The thing about the squares is, they show up wherever a glyph is found which doesn’t have a representation in the font. So it depends on where you see the box character. With the fixed Ubuntu font for example you’ll see many boxes if you want it to display Vietnamese because it lacks a whole block of multiple accented characters which will be added in a later development stage. The Droid fonts you attached will fail for many more languages because it only contains the code points of ISO-8859-1 which is oriented at western european languages (it doesn’t even contain a Euro symbol). If that is the problem, the simple fix won’t help you, one would have to know which characters you are missing to do something about it.
The second problem is: what is the license of the fonts? There’s no licence information so it’s not clear if one may change anything about the font.
There’s an Android logo font which contains the FEFF character and many more (incl. greek and cyrillic): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3771562&postcount=86 — perhaps this helps.
Thanks to both of you guys!
I can't remember which site I downloaded the font from but its really clean compared to the android logo font so I liked it.
New version as reaction on more box-sightings in the Kyrillos Rom thread. In fact the character U-2009 (thin space) was missing. I added the whole block of (non)spacing characters from U-2000 up to U-200F.
Non-vietnamese UI-elements should hardly show boxes again.
For downloads visit first post.

They are already present in the font. If you look at the specimen (https://github.com/georgd/EB-Garamond/blob/master/specimen/Specimen.pdf?raw=true) on p.3 you find a czech example that shows all three of them (at least in lowercase).

[MOD][THEME][CYANMOBILE][CM7] Jelly Bean inspired Theme

Hi!
I made a Jelly Bean inspired Theme for the new rom: CyanMobile eXperience [2.3.8][MB526]
Instructions:
- download the file
- copy to your SD Card
- install it with File Manager
- go to ThemeChooser, and apply
- ignore the warning, apply anyway
- REBOOT!!!
- after that, just use Your Phone!
If You find some bugs, errors or something, just report me here in post, or send me a private message! If You can, make a screenshot, so it is easier to find, what is the problem!
There are two different files, one for CyanMobile Experience, and one for "pure" CM7.
If You use some of CM7 version, than download: JBT v1.2
If You use CyanMobile Experience, than download: JBTEX v1.1
Here are a lot of screenshot for CM7 version and here for CyanMobile !
If You have any question, suggestion, support, or anything else, just find the way to do it!
hi,
it looks really nice but the system ui stat icons for off (e.x.com_android_systemui_stat_2g3g_off.png) are to dark, i can see it on the status bar is it possible to make it brighter?
the signal png never go blue and i have a H connection.
i use the maniac cm7 rom.
thnaks for your work
smoky
I updated the Theme, You can download here: JBT v1.1
Now the power widget OFF color is the same, as the icons on the statusbar. It is more visible on Sunshine
Edit: At ThemeChooser, it's no preview screen. It's a windows bug.
Edit_2: The H connection problem: I don't know, what is the problem, I tryed it now, and at me everything looks good. Anyone else, who has the problem, that the signal bars don't go blue? (see attached file below)
plzz....support mdpi
thanks
MDPI
It's difficult, to support MDPI size. I made this theme for my Defy, an it's HDPI, so the theme is also HDPI ONLY!
And why? Because when I change something, I can verify that looks good, it fits, the color or something is good or not.
Unfortunately I don't have any phone with mdpi screen, so I can't test. That is the reason for HDPI only.
Hi there, I'm using it on my Defy+ (with CMX) atm, and I love it.
Thank you
I have, one simple question thou. I happen to have a little bit diffrent color (cyan) than the one your screenshoot (lightblue).
All I found was how to change color of diffrent items, or global font color, but...
Is there easy way to change the whole color setup so it would look exactly like on the screenshoot? Oh, and btw, may I know the hex code for that lightblue color of yours?

Hi!
Ideally the color change automatically, but in CMX I find this bug too, but for me was just the lockscreen, what doesn't changed the color. If You go to Settings (I use now euroskank, so sorry, if I don't remember exactly where You sould go), CyanMobile Settings - Interface tweaks - Status bar tweaks - here You find a lot of "xyz color" , and the hex code is the right color ( ff33b5e5 ), just the system can't change. Just choose the option, that you want to change the color, then pick in the middle of the color circle, and it will be change!
The colors, what I used, is the same as find HERE, but what You looking for is: 33b5e5 !
Thanks, looks great
Great theme, could you change the color text of the "state" of the sms? I mean, Sent at 13:28, because I use the black wallpaper in mms.apk, and the color text is black, so I can't see it, im using CM7, thanks.
Thanks for reporting, I changed the color to blue. The new version have some minor updates too.
Download:
JBT v1.2
JBTEX v1.1
I changed the files in the first post too.

Change the Backround Picture from Smart-View-Cover

Hello,
I'm looking for a way to change the background image in the SmartView cover.
My firmware is KIW-L21C432B160 - german version.
A change of the desgn brings no solution.
The background with the SmartView cover is always the same, does not change.
I would be very pleased if someone could offer a solution.
Thank you in advanced.
Greets
I don't have a smartview case but, I suggest you to look in themes app and look for it
U can change by Emui theme editor>Open and select you loved theme and in edit add s-view section change or add background to your theme and save, apply the theme and enjoy
This does not work, unfortunately, because the S-View image has been compressed.
See image.
What can I do?
