[Q] Did Google Voice stop working for anybody? - HTC Droid DNA

I've been using Google Voice as my voicemail provider since my HTC Incredible. At that time, Google Voice was not "officially supported" but my phone let me set it up successfully anyway. I only occasionally used it for voice calls, mainly I wanted it to capture all my voicemails so I could access them via the web.
I got a Rezound and set up Google Voice there, again, not "officially supported" but it worked fine and captured my voicemails the way it should. Last year I switched to the Galaxy S3, then the DNA, and it has worked fine on all of them.
Two weeks ago, however, I went to Europe and roamed with my international data plan, and upon returning found my old voicemail was back. I had to dial *86 and punch my voicemail password in for the first time in years to get my voicemail. I figured I just needed to change the setting back to Google Voice and it would be fine.
Long story short, I can't get it to work anymore. Has anybody else experienced this? Any ideas on how to get Google Voice working again?

It's still working for me. You may need to setup the forwarding services again.

Deactivating it and reactivating it worked out...instructions were in the Settings menu of the web interface.
Thanks for the help.

Google Voice not intercepting on VZW

OK, I know I'll probably get slammed, but I searched and searched and can't find the answer...
I'm coming from the Nexus One on ATT where google voice worked flawlessly. Now, on Verizon with the Thunderbolt, it's a nightmare. Incoming calls don't get my Gvoice message, just a notice saying to enter a PIN. Also, Gvoice isn't showing the correct outgoing caller ID... even though everything "appears" to be setup properly in Gvoice settings and on the Thunderbolt.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!! Any ideas?
The information on the Google Voice Settings page didn't work for me. Telling you to dial some crazy * #### blah blah blah.
So I did some calling to Verizon and dug deeper. In order to get GV on your VZW, you need to do these steps:
*71[Google Voice Number]
*90[GVnumber]
*92[GVnumber]
Then GV should work.
I was in the same boat as you. Upgraded from TMO Nexus to this and was going crazy trying to figure out why GV wouldn't work.
Hope it helped?
Why don't u just fork out the money for Verizon's awesome visual voicemail! What a joke. Don't think Verizon likes gv.

I just installed the app, dialed *xxxxxxxxxx (whatever number i was told to dial by the app or site) and it seems to be working fine. I've never used it before though, so I'll update this if something goes wrong.

I did that and the voicemail still were intercepted by Verizon

I just followed the directions on google.com/voice and mine worked fine. My voicemail gets picked up by GV.
i had previously set up gvoice with sprint so what I had to do in gvoice was delete my cell number and re-set it up so it would register with Verizon. Works fine after that.

Thanks for the post, let me try it out. Also, after digging more at Google.com, I found these bonus codes depending on what network we're on...
Verizon (CDMA network): *71[GVnumber] AND *90[GVnumber] AND *92[GVnumber]
Verizon (TDMA Network): *74[GVnumber] and *73[GVnumber]
What net are we on with LTE?
Worked! THANKS!
Worked fine for me with just the *71-XXX-XXX-XXXX code BOTH times I had to set it up (thursday new phone, last night after rooting). I just called myself from my Skype out # and it rolled to GV voicemail.
All U.S. Verizon Customers are on the CDMA network.

That code only sets up forwarding for one group of calls. Unfortunately, you need to setup GVoice on the Thunderbolt to properly forward BOTH unanswered (missed) calls, and ignored (intentionally declined) calls. The two different actions are handled differently by Verizon - hence the multiple dial-in codes. Although I don't know what the third code is for.

I'm not going to get into a huge back and forth over it, but I just tested my Thunderbolt phone both ways...I called it and let it go unanswered, and then I called it and hit the decline button on the screen. Both times it rolled to my Google Voice voicemail. I only set it up with the *71 code.
I'm not disputing that your experience may be different, but that's how it worked for me.
Whenever I try to add my new Verizon phone number, it shows up as a Gizmo account no matter what I select (Mobile, Home, or Work).
Just what I was looking for, thanks!
works the same as it did for me from my og droid. i wish there would be an icon telling me what number the people are calling me on. i have a bunch of people call the wrong number and i never know what line its on.
I had Google voicemail set up on T-Mobile with my N1, MyTouch 4G and it worked perfect. Tried to set it up on my Thunderbolt with Verizon and I went thru the set up procedure, dialed the *71 and my google # then *90 and finaly *92. When I was done I tried to call myself and see if it works, I get a message asking me to put the # I am trying to call and hit the pound button. Please help, Love Google Voice and I tried Verizon tech help and absolutely useless, tried to sell me theirs.
Please anyone, I want that Google voicemail app working.

I had a friend of mind call in and he got the same message. I have seen other posts of people with the same issue. I can not find out how they resolved their issue. Someone must have the answer, Verizon tech help didn't have a clue unless I was buying their V Voice Mail.
I also came over from t-mobile. All I did was set my phone's voicemail setting to my Google number, then did *71(my Google number) and my voicemail works fine.

[Q] Google Voice for AT&T S III isn't working for my phone

Anybody else having this issue? I'm getting an app crash when trying to switch carriers for voice mail from AT&T's to Google's. It was working perfectly fine with my S II.

On my Sprint SGS3, I wasn't able to set Google Voice as my voicemail on the phone itself. However, I went through the process as far as I could (within the Google Voice app), and then logged on to Google.com/Voice > Settings > click on "Deactivate Google voicemail on this phone". After that, re-enable Google Voicemail and you should be good to go.
Soon after that, the settings on the phone were greyed out and voicemails came in as expected.
Sorry if this isn't so clear! Time for bed and my brain isn't firing on all cylinders. Good luck.
It's not working for me either. Seems there's issues on Sprint and T-Mo too with the SGSIII and Google Voice. I hate using stock voicemail. Hope the next Google Voice update cures this.

while we're here, when someone leaves me a voicemail, it goes to my old phone that has the google voice app (it's still connected to wifi). it doesn't show up on my new phone though.
do i have to do something with my old phone to make it stop? or do i change some other settings?

bump?
i couldn't get this to work. the post wasn't very clear. did you go to google.com/voice on your phone or via website? i did via phone and don't see anywhere to "Deactivate Google voicemail on this phone". didn't see it via computer, either.
edit: so i found this via browser on my computer finally. reactivated and still no dice
I was only able to switch my VoiceMail provider from AT&T to GoogleVoice by using the dialcode listed @ voice.google.com (*004*<insertyourGVnumberhere>#), and it works, even though Dialer app settings still shows "My carrier" instead of "Google Voice" as the provider, and attempting to change it in the Dialer still says "Forwarding number change failed".
My problem now is that I can't for the life of me figure out where to change the timeout before it forwards to VoiceMail. I test-called from another phone and it rings for at least 60 seconds(!) before forwarding to GoogleVoice, instead of the 15 or so it used to be. Where do you change this, or can you?
Me too - luckily I saved the activate/deactivate google voice in my contacts list so was able to change the forwarding ok. Not sure if there's anyone at google that takes feedback on these kind of issues or not - but I haven't seen many things responded to on their feedback forums (like DST / calendar sync issues for the last few years with no fixes). Get what you pay for I guess.

GoogleVoice/Sprint/EVO LTE busy landlines

Hi, I had the Google Voice / Sprint integration configured on my EVO 4G LTE phone and it was working fine. However, today whenever I tried to call a landline, I would receive a busy signal.
Once I disabled the integration I was able to call landlines again. Anyone else having this issue?
I waited about a 1/2 hour then reintegrated with Google Voice and everything seems to working again.

We had this issue on my wifes phone a while back, although we couldn't disable the GV integration...Sprint said there was a bug with Google integration but I've never seen this issue again.

[Q] Cant send/receive texts thru stock, only can with Google Voice

Hello everyone,
I am rooted and locked runinng MOF 2.3.5 ish v2.0.
Yesterday AM I started receiving an error (unable to send text) when trying to send texts through GO SMS. I also received the same error when using the stock messaging app. Then I discovered I was also not receiving texts. I can send and receive texts through Google Voice. I integrated my Google number with Sprint several months ago. I had made no changes to Google voice settings, or my text settings in several months. This just came out of the blue.
I tried restoring a backup from Titanium, that did not work. I tried de-linking Google voice from my phone and that did not work. I uninstalled GO SMS- still nothing. I have since re-linked Google voice to my Sprint # as it is the only way I have of receiving my messages.
Today I called Sprint. After a few tests with no luck, they instructed me to accept the OTA 2.3.5 update. They claim that one of the issues fixed in this OTA update was a fix of this "known issue with SMS". I told them I did not want to do that because it would perma lock my boot loader. They also suggested having them de-link Google Voice from my Sprint #. They said that if they de-linked Google Voice, I would not be able to re-link Google voice to my number later and that was a "known issue" with Google.
So, I have 3 options...
1) Keep it as is until upgrade time, but of course Google Voice does not have MMS support. And Google Voice leaves a lot to be desired with SMS threading and customization.
2) Take the OTA upgrade and "hope" it solves my texting issue, but of course that opens another can of worms with the bootloader.
3) Have them de-link Google Voice and hope that works. However, I enjoy having one number when I travel, etc. And if it doesn't work, according to them I wont be able to re-sync and then I will not have any access to my texts.
Has anyone else ran into this issue? I didnt see the exact issue in a Google search.
Thanks in advance
I also use Google voice to manage/backup my voicemails and texts remotely. I hate the google voice app. I only use it in it rare situations where I have no signal and no roaming available, but have wifi.
This has happened to me a couple times, I'll notice my gvoice has texts that my phone never received via SMS.
What is your preffered network set to? I've noticed my prefered network mode changes mysteriously on this phone. I'll just set it back normal and all my missed sms come flooding in.

Thanks for the reply. I normally set to automatic. I just checked and it was changed to any cmda. I will play with the options and see if that helps. Thanks again.
type in *#*#4636#*#* on the phone dialer

Hello, it was on CDMA Auto (prl). What do you generally set yours on for domestic use?
Your answer got me thinking. Saturday afternoon I removed a sim card from another country because I was here in the us and didn't need it. So when I got home I put the sim card back in and switched network to automatic and then all my texts arrived. Thanks again

Advanced Calling (HD) & Google Voice

Has anyone managed to get these two to work together?
I activated Advanced Calling a few weeks back. Little did I know my voicemail was no longer working since then and was just giving a busy signal. I've spent several hours now getting it back to working order, but the only way was to disable Advanced Calling. Apparently call forwarding does not work when Advanced Calling is on. I've seen people with other types of phones on forums talking about similar issues with no resolution. Anyone know how to get these two working?
Just as a side note to anyone who was stuck like I was - If you activated Advanced Calling, the only way to get call forwarding to work again is to go to Verizon's webpage and turn off Advanced Calling for your phone through the webpage. Turning it off on the phone alone does not work.
Running Google voice and HD calling, had to redo the Google voice activation on the phone, but that was all. Just got a google voicemail this morning, used the HD calling last night.

Must be isolated cases then. I can't get it working, nor ANY call forwarding to work (even tried other numbers that I own) with HD on. Just get a busy signal instead of it forwarded. Hate to have to call Verizon since I'll have to unroot just to call them.
I'm having similar issues since i enabled HD calling. I had to re-do the *71(voice mail number), *90(voice mail number), *92(voice mail number) to forward busy and unanswered calls. It would seem that google voice isn't accepting the forwarded port from verzion as my number. My verzion number is registered in google but google doesn't think my number is calling, so it doesn't allow me into voicemail.
