Build.prop & Init.d tweaks entry - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When installing custom rom, in aroma i selected all optimization tweaks and after boot i seen some double entry in build.prop file like wifi scan interval time= 150 & other is 180 as well as TCP tweaks & so on are either double entry. IS it normal? Would these double tweaks conflict with each other? Or i can use without any worry?

Vdd levels sysfs interface
This mod was created by snq- for my Classic desire builds.
The vdd levels interface allows you to adjust cpu voltages on the fly, you can either do this via terminal, Gscript or by dropping a script in init.d.... The following script is an example with vdd levels increased by 25mV on all frequencies
you can adjust these values accordingly by ammending the 2nd string to any value between min 750mV max 1350mV, these values will only be persistent on reboot if you have a script in the /system/etc/init.d folder with the below syntax
usage:
query: (output: first column: frequency (kHz), second column: vdd* (mV))
#!/system/bin/sh
#
#CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_VDD_LEVELS
echo '245000 925' > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/vdd_levels
echo '422400 950' > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/vdd_levels
echo '460800 975' > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/vdd_levels

*: vdd values must be a multiple of 25 (enforced by the interface; the regulator doesn't accept other values - found out in the hard way)
please note that the values set through this interface will only be written to the acpu table - they will only become effective when the specific frequency is (re)set by cpufreq
i took the input parser from iscaela's code - thanks for it

F.A.Q For HTC FLYER HC Version
 F.A.Q For LeeDrOiD FLYER
Quickies
- When you flash the ROM, you MUST complete at least one full boot before applying any patches or themes.
- For some of the below operations, you will need a root explorer. A good one is ES File Explorer, free and with root access. You will need to check root access in settings and mount system for it to work.
- The first boot after flashing any rom can take up to 10 mins (especially following a full wipe), this is because the dalvik-cache needs to be re-built.
- Do I need to wipe? It is always recommended, however you can just flash the rom over the current one without a wipe, providing you are using the ROM from the same Chef and that the base build is the same. A full wipe should be done if you face continuous troubles with the ROM or feel performance is not what it should be.
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ________
F.A.Q For LeeDrOID FLYER
Q 1: How do I flash this ROM?
Assuming you have S-Off, and have installed a custom recovery – Reboot the FLYER into recovery (switch off then back on holding volume down, at the fastboot menu select recovery). Select “Install Zip from SD Card” – Select the ROM from your SD and press power – Confirm and you are good to go.
Q 2. What is S-OFF or Recovery?
A detailed explanation on how to is below:
What is S-OFF?
S-OFF means that the NAND portion of the device is unlocked and can be written to. The default setting for HTC devices is S-ON (write protected), which means that neither can you access certain areas of the system nor can you guarantee a permanent root
Do i need Rooting?
An unrooted device is like logging onto the guest account of windows, you can do many things, just not everything
Think of Acquiring root as having Administrator Access on the device, so you can install/modify/fix/break anything you want.*
What does clockwork Recovery do?
Clockwork allows you to flash Unofficial Roms and Themes via zip files on your SD card, also you can make backups of your current rom and wipe certain types of memory. (User data, system, boot, cache, dalvik cache)
What is flashing?
Flashing refers to Downloading themes or apps or Roms onto your SD Card and then installing them using clockwork or any other utility where the phones Operating System is modified
Q 3: Which radio should I use?
This is a trick question. According to many users over the years, they have recommended to change the radio only if you are facing troubles with the current one that you are using. Radio is a very very very location specific thing. So, what works for me, may not work for you.*Here Here is a good thread discussing radios and their performance. Generally, Lee will put the recommended radio in the first post.
Q 4: Is the radio included in the ROM? How do I flash?
No, you will need to flash the radio separately.
Easiest steps to flash a radio is (assuming you have sdk and HTC Drivers and are SOFF)
- Put the radio.img in the folder where fastboot is under sdk\tools
- Turn off your phone and and reboot into Bootloader and select fastboot, connect the phone to the pc - now you show see Fastboot USB on the phone.*
- Goto command prompt on your pc. Goto the folder with Fastboot.
- Typefastboot flash radio radio.imgand watch it write the new radio.
If the file is named PG58IMG.ZIP, then simply copy it to the root folder of the sd card and reboot into bootloader and follow instructions on the phone screen.
Q 5: Right or recommended order of flashing?
Wipe>ROM>Reboot> Radio.
Q 6: Should I use a task killer on the LeeDrOiD ROM?
Check this and decide for yourself... (Lee would say NO)
Q 7: Backup? What is that?
A good idea is to back up all your data and settings from the phone before flashing a new rom with a full wipe. Best app available is Titanium Back up(included in the ROM)
The best way to back up the contacts is to sync it via HTC Sync or via your gmail.
Q 8: Are Nandroid and Titanium backup the same thing? How do I manage backups?
No, Nandroid backs up the ROM and Titanium backs up the applications. Nandroid is what you do using the recovery and it makes the exact image of your ROM along with the data.
Q 9: On what occasion will I lose my data (apps, contacts etc)?
Only when you apply the full wipe or the super wipe (see next question, Answer 3). When you just flash a rom or a .zip from recovery, it will not wipe anything unless otherwise mentioned.
Q 10: I was on stock (or another rom from another cook) and I flashed LeeDroiD ROM, now I am having some problems.
1. Try to rebooting the FLYER and see if it makes a difference.
2. Reboot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik, reboot the FLYER and clear data of the apps causing problem.
3. If nothing else works, then use the Full Wipe from the first post above or “SUPERWIPE”. Beware: A superwipe/ full wipe will erase EVERYTHING on the FLYER. So be sure to backup what you want.
Q 11: How do I flash Full wipe or Superwipe and what does it erase?
Copy the .zipfile to the SD Card and flash it via recovery. DONOT REBOOT once it is done, flash the ROM straightafter. The full wipe will erase data, cache, system and format in EXT4 partition. Superwipe will erase data, cache, system, boot and system files on SD card (EXT4 again).
Q 12: The screen is not very responsive and is lagging.
Let the FLYER settle down a bit after you unlock it. It generally needs a few seconds to kick up the CPU.
Q 13: The market is not installing anything. Gives error.
Reboot into recovery and select “clear cache partition”. And under settings - applications - Manage applications - under the Market app < Clear Data>.
Q 14: I don’t like the CRT on and off animations, what can I do to disable these?
CRT Animations are NOT included.
Q 15: My battery is draining heavily.
When you first flash a ROM this is what happens. Give it atleast one full charge cycle and it should come back to normal. If required, reboot into recovery and clear battery stats. It is advisable to do so on 100%. Here is the*battery caliberation*hereapp from the market. You can try this.
The battery calliberation script is now included in the rom and stats wiped when at 100%, automatically. This is done only once.
Q 16: Should I run the FLYER battery to zero percent, and what if it does??
Absolutely not! Both the current recoveries are giving problems while pulling the battery up from zero percent.
Q 17: I am getting random lines across my screen on some widgets.
This is a fairly common problem. A Quicke remove the widget and re-apply it or to use a different skin.
Q 18 Some games that use the motion/G sensor are not working as they should.
Re-Calibrate your Gsensor – Settings – Display – Gsensor Callibration
Q 19:dont like the animations. Dont want them.
Go to spare parts, and disable all animations OR go to settings - display - animations.
Q 20: How do I disable or change the boot sound?
You will need to a root explorer to do this. On your Flyer, using the root explorer, navigate to data\local. Rename the file android_audio.mp3 and reboot.. Viola - No more boot sound. To change, rename the one you want as the boot sound to andoid_audio.mp3 and place it in data\local folder. Be sure to hit the favourite button inside explorer and then phone, data and local.
Q 21: And the bootanimation?
Data\Local again. Replace the bootanimation.zip file with the one you want. The new file must be named bootanimation.zip.
Q 22: Can I modify frequencies using System tuner Pro or Set Cpu?
Yes, You can use System Tuner Pro or SetCPU. Lee Recomends SYSTEM TUNER PRO
Q 23: GPS Problems?
Try faster fix app from the market. Has helped a few members.
Q 24: SuperUser Force closes.
Goto Setting - Application - Manage Application - Super user - Clear Data. And, go to Super user application and click the right most icon on the top of the application (top right corner) and re-update the binaries. Also, go to settings and disable logging, its a bug in su3.
Feel free to PM me if something else should be added.
Pls. Look at Lee´s 1st post in this thread for further explanations.
IMPORTANT
Jailbreaking and rooting could soon become illegal again, unless you act now.
Back in July of 2010 the US government ruled that jailbreaking and rooting weren’t a crime as long as the intention behind them isn’t circumventing copyright.
The ruling is set to expire soon and unless renewed, jailbreaking and rooting of smartphones will become illegal once again.
An organization called the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) has issued a petition that anyone can sign – the idea is to get enough objective opinions in favor of renewing the ruling. The EFF also wants to add tablets to the agreement.
You can find all the details on the source link below. Keep in mind that signing up to renew the agreement closes on February 10.
Whether jailbreaking is legal or illegal may not matter much to the end user, but not voting for legalization would surely put all the hard-working devs outside the law.

Thanks Lee very appreciate this release!
•Enabled Phone functionality (WIP)
I have not had a chance to try this, anyone with 3g does your phone work on this ROM? Can you text and make calls?
Thanks Lee
Downloading ...
How exciting!!
Thanks Lee!!
Wait, "Enabled Phone functionality (WIP)"? Could you elaborate? This sounds exciting!
I guess WIP stands for Work In Progress, therefore not functional yet. Fingers crossed, though!
Hi Lee, finally you come to HC. This ROM will make flyer a legend, if you can enable phone and enable usb host features! But the second thing is more important to me than the first one.
Although I never test usb host on your leedroid gb rom, but I read that you can enable this feature on previous ROM. So I hope this time would be easy for you too.
Anyway, thank you very much. Will smartass governor be implemented on this ROM?

Hello Lee, any chance HTC Jetstream HC ROM may help in phone calls resolution? I read on official HTC Jetstream manual (page 150) that ...You can listen to music over a Bluetooth stereo headset, or have hands-free conversations using a compatible Bluetooth headset or car kit... Anybody knows it's true? Can't see references to phone calls for Jetstream anywhere else.
Hi Lee
Thanks again 4 another great job from your hand, most of the things had been said in the other posts, I miss my LeeDrOiD wallpaper though and a wifi connection who function.
can't wait to install this great rom on my flyer , can somebody just tell me where and how to set the CPU to 1,8 GHZ thanks

Hi
First of all wellcome onboard, You need to download System tuner or set CPU from the marked, personally I will go for System tuner pro version.
System tuner will provide you with a max of 1,8 Ghz, but I wont recoment it. First of all You need to let the new rom settle for a couple of hours before your starts playing around with it, And 1,8Ghz thats max speed but also there where You will face bootloops and a unstable device. If I where You I will go for a max. 0n 1.72 Ghz.
Enjoy Yourself
thanks for your answer , yes I guess that 1.72 will do just fine, I have a HC rom on my flyer and when I compare it to the asus eepad transformer I realise the tablet is not smooth enough even with installing custom launchers (ADW launcher). I hope this will make the difference ^^

1. build.prop
For editing build.prop you'll need a file explorer like Root Explorer which is a paid app, or you can use any root enabled file explorer.
Solid Explorer is a really good one!
build.prop is located in /system.
You can also use Android Commander to pull the file to your PC, edit it, then push it back to the phone.
Here's a collection of build.prop tweaks which should improve performance:
NOTE: I've commented values (#) which I'm not really sure about what they do exactly, or I find they are optional.

][Script-U9RC8.2]Be A Super User! Use The -=V6 SuperCharger=- Lag, Redraw & RAM Fixer! - xda-developers
1.] Download V6 supercharger and place it on your SDcard. Optionally you can rename it to a simple name like V6.
2.] Download&install script manager from google play.
3.] open script manager and grant it root privileges.
4.] Load downloaded script by selecting it, tap superuser (SU) icon (it will turn green)
5.] Tap 'run' in upper left corner
6.] touch the screen to open keyboard.
7.] it will ask to set scrolling speed, select 1 or 2 or 3 and then enter. Or select 0 for instant display.
8.] let it run until it stops scrolling. It will then ask you "Please Enter Option [1-30]:"
9.] Choose 10 for automatic calculation of settings (V6 cust-oomizer), or choose for yourself. My personal choice is 5 [Multitask]
10.] let it do it's thing... after it's finished it'll ask you if you want to super clean&reboot, do it.
To verify if the script has been installed, run it again after reboot.
If all is gods, you should get "Launcher is HARD TO KILL! ie. SUPERCHARGED" and "SuperCharger Level: 100% SuperCharged!"

5. APK Optimisation
][DEVS] Optimize all APKs automatically, Reduce memory footprint! [Now with Zipalign] - xda-developers
What it does: Makes APK's smaller by compressing PNG files in it. You gain a bit more space on internal storage, and smaller memory footprint!
Download this file http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=233101&d=1254347893 and extract it somewhere. Preferably to your desktop. The folder is named apkopt by default.
Open your ROM's zip. Open system and extract app folder to desktop.
Select all APK's inside app folder and copy/move them to apkopt folder.
Press win+r which opens run, type cm which opens command prompt.
now navigate to whereveryour apkopt folder is and type "apkopt_all".
The process will start, and it will take some time to finish.
It will create two new folders, "optimized" & "original".
Your optimized APK's are obviously in the optimized folder.
You can compare how much in size they've shrinked, for some ROM's you can gain as much as 20Mb!
Create new folder called "app", and place all optimized APK's in it.
Open you ROM zip again, go to system and replace the app folder with the optimized one.
Now you can flash the ROM
6. ROM odexing
][ODEX] on Any ROM - xda-developers
Odexing pros:
Faster boot, faster app loading, gain more space in internal storage.
deODEXED pros:
Modification of apk becomes easier
ROM is open to theme modifications
Further odex vs deodex info: xda-developers - View Single Post - [ODEX] on Any ROM
So, I think if you're not a ROM or theme maker, you should be good to go
Download this file:

Reboot phone into recovery and flash zip. It's as simple as that
WARNING! Make sure you make a nandroid backup before you flash it!

Tweaks are tested personally by me.
I've really tried to assemble just the really good tweaks and enhancements.
I've tested and researched all these build.prop tweaks. And as you can see, they all have comments on what they do. So you can choose what you want.
I've also only included init.d scripts that I know raise performance. All tested by me.
Just a quick question, my Mini with stock ICS has dalvik.vm.heapsize=128m by default, wouldn't setting it to 68m be an un-tweak?

Nope. It wouldn't be an un-tweak. You've gotta test which heapsize is best.
It's trial and error.... Let it sit at 64 for a few days and see if it's better or worse.

Since I don't run a ton of apps on my phone I don't think I'd be good in recognizing the difference. Is there a recommended best size based on the device's RAM? I got a Mini, so 512MB of which 340MB usable.

Dalvik heap size is the amount of memory (RAM) applications can use.
The bigger it is, bigger apps run faster.
You have to find the golden middle. Because if you have it to big, the memory will be all used up by some apps and will cause laggyness and force closes in others.
Try to stay with the lowest possible setting that lets your phone run smooth.
Take a look at this link: http://ryanolson.wordpress.com/2010...ory-per-vm-heap-can-effect-your-rom-cyanogen/
It seems tha 12M! is a good setting
Yet in this read here: http://butterflydroid.wordpress.com/2011/09/22/what-is-dalvik-vm-heapsize-benefits-and-downfalls/
it's suggested to set it higher.
Personally, I use 42m right now. But I've used as low as 24m before.
You have to choose and test for yourself. Try 28m, 42 and 64m. See which is better.
Hope that helps....

Firstly, I just want to say that this is not my creation, I take no credit, and I'm posting pretty much what it says on the original thread right here. If you wanna thank the devloper (Androguide.fr), follow the link below. I'm posting here so more i9100 aka Galaxy S2 owners can take a look.
Original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32660318
UPDATE!! I'll post update changlogs here, if you dont feel like going to the original thread.
v2.1.2
- Fixed conflicting tweaks that caused bootloops and/or were breaking network on some devices
~ Please report if these kind of issues persist ~
- Made the package lighter by removing some unused left-over files from previous versions
v2.1.1
- Fixed missing chmod script which was preventing init.d scripts from running
- Possible fix for the apps that aren't installed properly on some devices
v2.1
Introducing a new tweaks selection screen : Pimp my Kernel
--> Tweak 6 of the most common CPU Governors : Ondemand//OndemandX//Interactive//SmartassV2//Lulzactive//Conservative
--> Tweak your default I/O Scheduler & Disable I/O Stats
--> Disable & Re-Enable VSync
--> Disable Normalized Sleeper // Gentle Fair Sleepers // New Fair Sleeper (just moved, was already there before)
-->Misc. Kernel Tweaks : Disable kernel error checking (already there before) // Sysctl kernel msgmin & msgmax tweak
Added an option to revert Adblocking
Fixed the issue where beats audio and walkman options would be displayed for gb roms when it shouldn't
Various bugfixes (a few swapped selections and unworking tweaks)
Removed the extra apps screen, this wasn't really matching the mainline of this project, since you can grab those apps from the market. Plus this makes the whole package lighter.
Switched to miui installer theme
v2.0
ø New Tweaks selection screen : Multitasking
==> Choose between :
4 levels of OOM Priorities
4 levels Minfree settings
2 levels of ZRAM compression
Tweak your kernel and dalvik cache to behave well and be stable on hard multitasking conditions
ø New Tweaks selection screen : Networks & Internet
==> Security tweaks :
Reinforce your TCP/IP Stacks to make them resist to SYN attacks which cause a DoS (Denial of Service) on your device. Now those lame-ass blackhat hackers won't harm you with this.
Block redirects : auto website redirections will be blocked
Block source-routing : source-routing can be used to hack into your device as it allows full tracing of packets.
==> Stability & Speed tweaks :
Increase the buffer and queue size of each tcp socket to give more stability on high broadband consumption conditions
Allow the system to re-use the Sockets on TIME-WAIT state. In clear time-wait causes memory-loading, memory-loading causes internet lagg, internet lagg sucks.
Various IPv4 protocol speed tweaking scripts using sysctl
DNS and ppp0 tweaks for faster name-resolution, which means faster connections to websites.
ø New Tweaks selection screen : GPS Configuration
==> Choose between 79 countries (and 5 continents) of gps.conf files: those files are essential for the accuracy and lock-speed of your device's gps. (Thanks to gangsterjoop for the files)
ø New Adblock file of over 200 000 hosts ! (100x more than before) (Thanks to BSDgeek_Jake for the host file) --> added to extra features screen
ø New init.d scripts :
Move Dalvik-cache to /cache to increase data storage
Bind-mount dalvik-cache to allow a device to boot without sdcard (useful for devices with damaged internal sdcard)
Touchscreen responsiveness improvement tweaks
ø New Enable/Disable features :
Disable and Re-Enable Android logger
Disable Gentle Fair Sleepers
Disable New Fair Sleepers
Disable Normalized Sleeper
ø Rewritten every single init.d script :
This allowed me to realize many of them were not working, so I added a lot of missing values, and fixed a countless number of errors, redundant values and typos. So there should be some big improvement on the effects of init.d tweaks.
I also set an order of execution of init.scripts to avoid conflicts.
ø Removed themes and S-Voice
The S-Voice flaw that allowed other devices to use it appears to be patched and it was heavy, and themes were heavy and not really useful, you can download a countless number of them for free on the market
ø Changed installer theme to Sense
I realized that the options subtitles were not readable with ics theme, so most of the tweaks effects explainations were hidden.
ø Pimp My Rom will now come in two versions :
One will include the latest version of Aroma (with touchscreen working out-of-the-box, but issues on some devices) and One using Aroma v2.51 (With touchscreen calibration, and this version appears to fix the weird texture/ghost-input/moving screen/vibration issues people have with some devices with aroma v2.56)
ø Major code clean-up, various bugfixes
Re-organized and cleaned-up both aroma-config and updater-script
Fixed the way the installation process input displays sections and sub-sections
Fixed some tweaks getting installed instead of others when they shouldn't, and some other bugs
Pimp my Rom is an aroma-installer based script that will allow you to choose between a plethora of nice tweaks, mods, apps, themes and features to add to your current rom.
YOU CHOOSE which options and tweaks to apply, all this with a nice touchscreen interface, even if you're not running a touchscreen recovery, thanks to Aroma.
You can now run this script on any Android Device !!! (GB/HC/ICS/JB)
PmR was originally created for the Galaxy tab 7.7 (p68xx), but it has now evolved into a universally usable script !
Lifehacker article : http://lifehacker.com/5949000/pimp-m...way-imaginable
Here's the list of the features that you can enable and disable at will (will be adding more and more over the time) :
Tweaks and Mods
Init.d Scripts :
- Faster internet browsing
- Better Battery consumption
- Miscellanous kernel tweaks
- Ondemand governor tweaks
- Dalvik VM tweaks
- Defragmentation of sqlite3 databases at each boot
- Disable android-logger
- Disable kernel Normalize Sleeper
- Use strict minfree handlers
- Flags blocks as non-rotational
- Enable data_writeback for ext4 partitions for better i/o
- Force GPU rendering on 2D operations
- Improve multitasking by tweaking system task-killer

- Make sure you are running a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery
- Flash PmR in recovery
- A wonderful touchscreen interface will pop-up

- Follow the on-screen instructions, make your choices between all the different features of Pimp my Rom
- Select "Reboot my device" on last screen (or reboot from recovery) and enjoy

Open the zip of the rom you are running (the .zip file that you flash in recovery)
Inside this zip, navigate to : META-INF/com/google/android
Extract the file called "update-binary" and rename it to "update-binary-installer"
Open Pimp my Rom's zip (i.e : PIMP_MY_ROM-v1.4.1-Universal.zip)
Inside this zip, navigate to : META-INF/com/google/android and delete "updater-binary-installer"
Now copy the "update-binary-installer" file you extracted from your rom to Pimp My Rom's zip (still in META-INF/com/google/android)
Close the zip and flash it

On mcm11's today's sysfs nightly version, it works but with the CM kernel. If you apply dorimanx kernel, it stops working. The device doesn't boot. First boot with the dorimanx kernel and this mod active works but from the second onwards it stops working. Just reporting.
Other than that the mod is great! Loads of tweaks and scripts to choose from currently using it on the cm10 kernel.

Works on paranoid android 2.21 with DorimanX kernel. :victory:

Installed it on cMIUI 2.10.12 with DorimanX 7.1. The UpdateMe app gave me a FC instantly and won't open, but other than that no problems. It's working as it should be.
Will report after a few days of usage..
EDIT: After a day of usage, no FCs no problems at all. I don't know if it makes anything faster, but there are no problems so I will keep on using it.
Installed on JellyBam, everything seems okay now, will report later for any FC's.
Thanks
Working perfectly on a ported version of AllianceROM for the i777, using DreamKernel 2.7.5.
Thanks for bringing this tweak collection to our attention!

Hey everyone - me again, resident no-one-in-particular. Much like my previous forays into "projects"... I'm finally getting to where I feel good about posting this little mess - and it only took 4 months! Clearly I am still lacking a bit in the speed department, but hopefully folks enjoy what I've managed to muster together so far. This was originally based on the stock UVUDNF1 T-Mobile TouchWiz 4.4.2 and is now based on the stock UVUDNF9 4.4.2 base - the most recent official update at the time of writing this post... In other words - this is a stock modified T-Mobile rom! As I already mentioned this took quite a while to put together as a number of my tinkerings had to be more or less reworked from scratch (stemming from tinkerings on other devices and changes between 4.3 and 4.4.2 - and even between 4.4.2 builds), but on the upside I'm pretty happy with how things have turned out.
It should be noted that I still consider this a work in progress, so even though there are a number of things that I still want to include - at the time of writing this post I feel enough is done to warrant it actually being posted. That way others (assuming others give it a shot) can let me know if things don't work or if any oddities come up. Also feel free to comment on how this might improve, if I've gone about anything in a not-so-smart way, or if there is anything you would like to see (or wish wasn't there) - I can't promise I'll do anything about it, but such requests keep me motivated and learning, and thats been the driving force behind my tinkering since it began really
[size=+2]I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS (GOOD OR BAD) AS A RESULT OF FLASHING OR ATTEMPTING TO FLASH WHAT IS POSTED HERE![/size]
In an attempt to keep things clear and concise, see below for links to posts containing various bits of should-be-read info on what this is all about.
[size=+1]PLEASE NOTE:[/size] Make sure to THANK @RErick because without him the deep sleep issues that result from a disconnect between the ATT 4.4.2 kernel and the NF9/NF4/NF1 /system base would still be with us - BUT THAT IS NO LONGER THE CASE! As of Tweaked 3.9 all fixes are now included in the main install - and thanks again to RErick for the hard work on solving the deep sleep woes!

KRYON THEME
FOR THE GALAXY NOTE 3 on ATT & TMO RUNNING TWEAKED NF1 KITKAT ROM O N L Y
KRYON THEME is a new theme that digs a little deeper into your Touchwiz ROM's DNA. Its not just image work, but expanding into the smallest things and exploring/exposing new ideas that will make Touchwiz become almost a new UI feel. With KRYON THEMEs, I wanted to merge that edgy taste with a bit of class, to the Touchwiz experience while driving that happy feel and sleek look through out. As an avid AOSP lover, I simply love the Note 3 and all its glory, just not the hideous look of stock TW. KRYON THEME hopes to make you smile
These versions are IN BETA RELEASE and consists of the Main Structures-Framework, SecSettings, SecContacts, SecPhone, SystemUi, S5-Mms, Calculator, Job Manager, MultiWindowTray, MusicPlayerWT, Camera and Clock of course there is more to come. Just getting started...

[size=+2]TWRP/Safestrap Installation instructions[/size]:
While this rom does offer some customizable options at install - THE CUSTOMIZATION PROCESS IS NOT QUITE THE SAME AS OTHER ROMS!!
What does this mean? Well, if you want to tailor your installation using some of the available options, you'll have to read up on how to do so.
Wut?!? I have to read then!?! NOO!!!!
LOL - well like I said you really don't HAVE to read about this, it's only if you want to customize things outside of the default setup. If you don't want to customize anything, then simply flash the main TweakedN3 zip and be on your way. NOTE:Info on default and custom install options can be found in the installation instructions zip!
So you want to customize the install? Sounds good - and read on.
This was an idea that I started using over on the Note2 (though I've changed what I consider "default" a bit), and given the lack of aroma capabilities while using safestrap it at least offers an approach that lets users customize things a bit. Another advantage (for those that like customizing a bit at install anyway) is that after an initial step - future re-flashes of the rom will always utilize the same selections (assuming you don't delete some files in a particular directory of course). This should be a boon to those that enjoy flashing this and that, as the process of reinstalling this will now be tailored to what you want. [size=+1]NOTE:[/size] Unless you use the default approach you will most likely need to edit/redo this process for each update to make sure all new/edited options are up-to-date! This isn't excessively relevant yet, but it will be soon enough I imagine.
A complete explanation of the customizable-install approach can be found in this post, but for the sake of brevity and simplicity I am going to focus on the approach most fitting to the general (or new-to-flashing) user.
Before getting into that though, remember that the usual rules still apply:
- While very much stable in my experience you should be cautious whenever you flash. Make sure to wipe data/factory reset to avoid issues.
- I highly recommend wiping data before getting started with any of this. This is just a recommendation - not a requirement - though if you have issues that is almost always one of the first recommended fixes.
- I also recommend you already be on the 4.4.2 update, as this is a 4.4.2 rom and I imagine requires (or if nothing else works best with) a 4.4.2 kernel
- Tweaked needs to be flashed in a custom recovery - and thanks to the hardwork of @Hashcode this can be done via his Safestrap that can be found here. Make sure to THANK HIM for this, as none of this would be possible without his work!
[size=+1]THE SUPER SIMPLE SAFE APPROACH[/size]
Well the super simplest of all approaches would be to just flash the main install zip. For those that tried any of the 4.4.2 alpha/beta zips discussed here the result will be very similar to what was experienced with those. For those that would like to tailor the install a bit, you'll need to check out this post for instructions. Basically there is a directory you need to place on your internal or external sd card, and inside that directory are files that can be edited to reflect the particulars you would like to be installed.
Below is what I would consider the general fits-whatever-install-approach-you-chose installation instructions:
[size=+1]THE GENERAL APPROACH[/size]
- Backup your current setup/data
- Decide which install route (default/custom) is best for you
- Download the main installer and put it on your internal/external sdcard
- If you decided on the custom install route
--- Download relevant zip for said approach
--- Extract directory inside zip and place it on internal/external sdcard as instructed
--- Edit install.prop and anything else required to reflect your install choices
- Boot into safestrap recovery thanks to Hashcode
- Recommended to wipe data/factory reset
- Select and install the main Tweaked rom .zip you put on your sdcard

[size=+2]How to custom install Tweaked[/size]
So you've decided to customize the install a bit eh? Good to hear.
[size=+2]NOTE:[/size] For this approach please be aware that the process will likely need to be redone with new versions to make sure you have access to all available options!
I will try to keep changes to these files minimal, but changes are inevitable, so make sure to stay up-to-date with the version you are flashing, as otherise you will likely get the default install!
[size=+2]ALSO -[/size] with this custom install approach you can place the TweakedInstall directory on either the internal or external sdcard. That being said, in general if you have a TweakedInstall directory on BOTH your external AND internal sdcard, the files in the external sdcard directory will be chosen over those in the internal sdcard directory. Furthermore - it is VERY important that you DO NOT RENAME ANY OF THE FILES OR THE DIRECTORY! If you do you will likely get a default install when flashing the main installer (not the worst thing of course).
[size=+2]----- CUSTOM -----[/size]
This approach requires changes you will have to do, and therefore needs a little reading and preparing ahead of time. In order to help things along, I've put together a zip file (see downloads post here) with instructions and needed files - make sure to read the... well, the README! The contents of that readme file are below:
--- From the READMEFIRST-INSTRUCTIONS.txt in the ATTInstallInfo.zip file ---
####################################
# HOW TO CUSTOM INSTALL ON ATT: #
####################################
### NOTE: THE INSTALL.PROP EDITING DESCRIBED HERE ###
### NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO FLASHING THE ROM! ###
1) Decide if you will be editing text files on the computer or the phone
- regardless of where you do this, the result must go in a specific directory on your internal/external sdcard (see below)
- if you use a computer to edit, make sure it uses the Unix-style end-of-line character (you can use Notepad++ on a PC)
- Not all text editors work as you need them to if doing this on the phone - I have only tried it using the built-in text editor in Root Explorer
######## THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND A SOURCE FOR SIMPLE MISTAKES - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! ########
2) Extract the TweakedInstall folder (either on PC or extract it to the ROOT of your sdcard - internal OR external)
- Inside are five files - the main one of interest for installing is install.prop
3) Open install.prop using a text editor and read the instructions
- it is on this file you select options
- this is similar in idea to how aroma works
- ALL you are doing with this is changing the numbers that come after the = signs
- DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE! ONLY NUMBERS!
- Follow the instructions for what each number means for each choice
4) Complete any other OPTIONAL file edits per how you want to install
OPTIONS INCLUDE (these are for the more advanced users around - THEY ARE NOT NEEDED AND CAN BE IGNORED):
- If you opted to further debloat beyond available options and have set dangertweak to = 1
- edit the applist file with the apk name that you want removed
- ONE APK PER LINE
- see baseapplist.txt for a list of apk names that are included on /system as "default"
- If you opted to keep some pre-existing system files and have set savelist to = 1
- edit the savelist file with the full path to the file you want saved
- so for example if you wanted to save a script file called 02ForExample that was in the init.d folder, you would enter
/system/etc/init.d/02ForExample
into the savelist file
- ONE PATH PER LINE
5) Make sure the directory along with your newly-edited files are moved to your sdcard if not already
### IMPORTANT: THIS DIRECTORY HAS TO BE AT THE ROOT OF YOUR SDCARD (INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL)!! ###
### IMPORTANT: THE NAME OF THIS DIRECTORY MUST NOT CHANGE!! ###
### IMPORTANT: YOU ARE DOING THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!! ###
6) Boot into recovery and flash the Tweaked rom zip
TAKE HOME:
The edited install.prop file (and optional ones related to it) being kept in the TweakedInstall directory on your sdcard will make it so you won't need to do any choosing the next time you want to flash the main installer. You can always come back to or reflash Tweaked exactly how you have set it up with no extra effort!
#########################################
# HOW TO USE MODIFICATINATOR ON ATT: #
#########################################
### NOTE: THE MODIFY.PROP EDITING DESCRIBED HERE IS ###
### TO BE DONE WHEN WANTING TO MAKE CHANGES AFTER ###
### THE ROM HAS BEEN INSTALLED! THE EDITS NEEDS TO BE ###
### COMPLETED PRIOR TO FLASHING THE MODIFICATINATOR! ###
Ok, let's say you've installed the rom and made a few custom selections, or regret not making some in hindsight. You can - without reflashing the entire rom - just go through and install/uninstall the particular thing you want to change using the modificatinator zip. BUT - it also requires you to do edits SIMILAR (but NOT IDENTICAL) to those you made to the install.prop, however in this case you will be using the modify.prop file. If you followed the above instructions for preparing a custom install, the modify.prop will be in the same directory as your install.prop.
1) Decide if you will be editing the modify.prop on the computer or the phone
- regardless of where you do this, the result must go in the same specific directory on your internal/external sdcard that the other files mentioned above are in
- if you use a computer to edit, make sure it uses the Unix-style end-of-line character (you can use Notepad++ on a PC)
- Not all text editors work as you need them to if doing this on the phone - I have only tried it using the built-in text editor in Root Explorer
2) Open modify.prop using a text editor and read the instructions
- it is on this file you select options
- this is similar in idea to how aroma works
- ALL you are doing with this is changing the numbers that come after the = signs
- DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE! ONLY NUMBERS!
- Follow the instructions for what each number means for each choice. PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THE NUMBERS MEAN!
4) Move the edited modify.prop to the proper directory (same one the install.prop is in) if not already
6) Boot into recovery and flash the modificatinator zip
TAKE HOME:
The edited modify.prop being kept in the TweakedInstall directory on your sdcard will need to be edited every time you want to use the modificatinator zip.
### WHEN EDITING TO MAKE A SELECTION MAKE SURE THAT ANY OPTIONS YOU HAD PREVIOUSLY SELECTED HAVE BEEN EDITED BACK TO "NO CHANGE" VALUES AS WELL!!! ###
--- End READMEFIRST-INSTRUCTIONS.txt -
The hope is that these instructions are as simple but as thorough as possible for those wanting to embark on the custom approach.
[size=+2]FAQ[/size]
Q: What the hell is TSMParts (new option in Settings menu)?
A: An interface for a huge slew of mods and tweaks, the base of which was originally put together by the original members of TSM and has since been inspired by impressive works of numerous others - the TSM Parts interface acts as a control for all of the customizable fun available. There are a large number of options there - so make sure to check them all out!
Q: TSMParts is asking for superuser access?!?
A: Yep - there are some options that will need it, so make sure you grant it!
Q: I'm having overlap issues with statusbar icons and center clock - what should I do?
A: Yeah - things may overlap, so you will have to either change settings to avoid the issue or just deal with it.
Q: I set a statusbar icon to hide, but it's still there. What gives?
A: The statusbar icon tweaks may require a little effort on your part for changes to take effect. All changes can be elicited with a reboot/hotboot, BUT for most there are other ways:
-- Bluetooth/vibrate-silent/alarm icons/ime/nfc/wificalling -- just change their state (on/off or vibrate/sound, etc)
-- No sim -- if the notification is already active you will need to reboot/hotboot to hide it
-- smart "eye" icon -- changes will happen once the eye triggers
Q: How is battery life on this rom?
A: This is a stock modified rom. As such, battery life will be equivalent to stock were you to be running a similar array of apps and kernel - it really should be no different than stock otherwise (which imo is not half bad really). The kernel and misbehaving 3rd party apps have more to do with battery life than a modified stock rom - at least in my opinion (and experience, though it's limited).
Q: So tethering is a common topic... can it be done with this?
A: To be honest I am unsure as to how tethering will behave using AT&T as the carrier... there was an annoying upsell message that TMo folks would get that I tried to set up to avoid, but in theory tethering SHOULD work on this. I will update this once it has been confirmed by a few folks
Q: Why isn't the accurate data icon mod working!!?!
A: The only time that mod shows an effect is when you are on the T-Mobile or ATT network - I don't believe other networks will see a change in data icon behavior.
Q: What is this LMT thing? How do you use it?
A: You need to check out noname81's thread here for info on that!
Q: Why can't I toggle off/on the security settings for exchange-based emails using the stock email client?
A: Mostly because I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. As long as you set it up to how you want PRIOR to setting up the account, AND you don't change the setting later - you should be fine.
Q: Why is it that when I swap the settings UI type the settings icon itself seems to move in the app drawer?
A: The toggling of the two UI types make the SecSettings package "appear" different to the system, so it's location in the app drawer may change after toggling depending on the launcher and settings used. This is normal and of no concern.
Q: I have an N9005 - can I flash this?
A: Thankfully the N9005 can pretty much flash any N900T rom, but there can be issues with things like wifi/bluetooth/nfc. Thanks to some due diligence searching of @galaningenieros and his pointing to the good work of @cdmvirt here, you can fix it right up by flashing the files found in this post!
Q: I'm getting a force close when I try toggling N3/S5 in TSMParts > Statusbar options... WHY YOU MAKE ME BREAK MY PHONE?!?!!
A: This has been an odd one, but it appears as if the blame resides within a few xposed modules. In particular, the iOS battery module and wanam have both been implicated. I will try to come up with a way around it, but if you uninstall these modules your toggling experiences should improve.
Q: I flashed this in safestrap and either used an old install.prop or none at all - why did I get an AT&T install?!?
A: I did this on purpose - I made it so when flashing it assumes that if you are using the default install.prop and in safestrap that you want an ATT-ified install (assumes you have an N900A and ATT as a service provider). If this is NOT the case - you can override this by updating or setting up a current install.prop
Q: Why don't you mention blah blah blah in your FAQ? It would have helped me a lot!
A: My bad - PM me anything you think should be added to this that would be helpful for the general user base!
[size=+2]Miscellaneous Notes[/size]:
- [size=+1]REMEMBER -[/size] Regardless of what install approach you use you can always use the Modificatinator to un/re/do virtually [size=+1]ANY[/size] of the options available to you in the main install! No need to reflash the whole rom!
Even if you don't use it right away, make sure to GRAB THE MODIFICATINATOR HERE NOW so you have it if you want it later!!
- Updates that come after the initial release MAY also have a flash-update-only option - whether or not it does just depends on the specifics of the update. [size=+1]NOTE:[/size] Depending on what is updated, an update-only flashable may break things if you are themed! I will try to avoid this as much as possible, but all it takes is a minor edit to a framework-res.apk string (for example) to necessitate an overwriting of a file typically quite important for themers (resources.arsc) - just be mindful of this please
- This is still pretty much an unthemed rom - so if any would like to change this PLEASE let me know (a themer I am not!). This is reflective of the thinking behind the whole setup as being nothing more than stock with some extra options. On that note - for those that like flashing various mods and what not, be wary - unless it specifies that it was made to work with Tweaked it likely will not.
- If you are unable to grab a logcat of a force close/issue, there is a directory on your phone that may contain files I can use in a similar way.
/data/log/ is the directory, and the files that offer tidbits and clues as to what the issue was start with the name "dumpstate_". If you send those to me along with an explanation of what went wrong, I will be much quicker to figuring out (and hopefully resolving) the issue!

so can you just flash the rom without the custom install or is that a requirement for the att version?

No need to use the custom install if you don't want to customize the install beyond the default - you can just flash it.
Is there a better way to portray that in the OP(s)? That is definitely the feeling I wanted to convey, and not surprisingly it seems I fell a bit short of the mark

Was been a bit cautious that's all, at first it sounded mandatory (myable BC I've been working all night) I installed it with material L theme and boy is it smooth, I might have to return my G3 now. Thank you!
Awesome thank you! Can't wait to download and flash this beast! Wallys themes are sick.
@dwitherell,
Thanks so much for giving us another ROM option for our ATT Note 3. Install went without issue. I had an issue with data, but added an apn from here and now have data. Had an issue with wifi passwords being remembered after a reboot, but applied fix from @Walter.White ...."Change the following line in build.prop:- ro.securestorage.support=true to false" and wifi passwords seems to be sticking after reboot.
I'll let you know if I see anything else. Once again...thanks very much.

Nice
I'm curious - are you seeing the wifi calling toggle? It almost seems like you didn't get the ATT stuff in the install process - and that should have included ATT apns and an ATT build.prop with that securestorage edit. Let me know

Sorry but the problem is in the name of directory, what is your internal storage name? it's /sdcard ?
Yes, most likely. I read logcat and saw this:
Code:
01-06 01:43:17.490 E/su (8325): Unknown id: /sdcard/ModeSelektor/scripts/S01_Ultra_Battery
internal storage name /storage/emulated/0
But the scripts are moved to sdcard(screenshot attached). Why is not working?

Other users report me that app work, and it is strange issue because if the app create the ModeSelektor directory the path its the same when it run the script. The app until now have only one issue it replace all time the script in ModeSelektor folder when start, I forget to add an exception in this build. Last think, you can check if sh file is present in /system/bin?
Yes, sh file is present

Before report that the app don't work post a complete review, you can't tell that app don't work without specify what mode you try and without post complete statistics about battery.
