What advantages will/does CM9 provide over just running the stock ICS build for the TFP? I'm pretty happy with stock once I can disable a few choice programs, but I'm interested in CM9. I've used other ROMs for my other devices and for my Original TF, but I'm having a hard time deciding with my Prime.
It looks like they are adding some sort of quick settings to the notification area and they have a performance menu in the settings. They usually have a customizable lock screen as well.
CM is normally a good solution to get to a more "vanilla" experience, however with the TFP the experience is fairly vanilla anyway. I'm shying away from switching to CM9 because I wonder if we will be able to port over the asus quick settings. I don't want to go to CM9 if that means losing the ability to toggle performance modes and ips/super ips+ modes.
CM does have lots of cool lock screen options. Also CM normally has built in overclocking/governor profiles which are great for conserving power.
Has the source code for the ICS kernel been released yet for TFP ?
i really dont think the performance toggles matter...CM will likely support changing of cpu frequencies via the settings menu as long as the kernels that are built have the frequency slots...so lets say balanced mode is 1.3 u would go into the settings menu of the rom and as long as the kernel has the slot u can select the min frequency and the max 1.3 also if the kernel supports undervolting you can set that via settings menu as well...no need for the asus performance modes...because its built in already to the rom usually i know that AOKP has this for the gnex and tab as well. as for the IPS+ thats something the CM team will have to add support for i think.
I can't find any information on the CM9 feature list either....love to see one.
Does Bluetooth GPS and Bluetooth controller work natively (without add on apps)?

judging from the posted video it seems the BT stack in CM9 for the TFP is working...but cant confirm it.
Cm9 would be good if you wanted to customize almost every aspect, even screen color temperature and cpu speed. Other that that I would not get it. I'm just going to get a custom kernel for the clock speeds because I like the way it us set up now

I'd be very interested in something similar to Siyah kernel for the SGS2.
Good people of XDA-Forum,
this is my first post after following this forum for quite a while. I am using an international SGS3 and have been trying a lot of different ROM's during the last few months. A few days ago I went back to something quite similar to the stock ROM: Omega ROM V44, based on JB 4.2.1
The problem that I am not able to solve without help is the following:
After installing Omega V44 my phone had this new toggle bar with toggles for WiFi, GPS, Sound, Screen rotation and Bluetooth. As I dod not find out how to customise this, I have installed the well known APP Power Toggles. The problem noc is that the new toggle-bar is there, but the old one wasn't replaced by it and is still in the first row?
I have been Googling for the answer 6-8 hours yesterday and today, but it looks like I'm the only guy on the planet who has this problem. It may or not have something to do with the Omega Settings. I saw screenshots of an Omega Settings menu in the Omega V44 Thread in the developer forum, but on my ROM I can't find the Omega settings.
I hope that someone can shed some light onto this sad story.
Best,
Jacob Kane
This is a pre release leaked software build and so is not fully complete. One of the things missing is the notifications control.
Also, a lot of mods don't work on this new leak properly as they're still being tweaked and there will be slow progress until Samsung release the source code for the kernel etc.
My advice would be to use v43 if you want to mod lots of things.

Im a Omega ROM users also and infact imusing V44.1 and it is running smooth.
if you are following the thread on Omega rom youll find the answer. Unfortunately V44 is still beta and MOD are not fully supported yet even custom kernel is not yet supported.
i have customazation done check this out;

here you can also check this page and so happy with OMEGA coz it is widely supported by our great devs and very thankful with that
hope you find it helpful. goodluck
I would say that this is especially dificult without source code as:
1) The way toggles have been implemented by Google in 4.2 OSP is quite different from the way Samsung was doing it
2) Samsung's implementation of the new 4.2 behaviour is, again, different from both samsung's old implementation and Google's new one
So there's no way to adapt existing methods, one would have to decompile packages from the last leak and try to see how it works
Anyway, any updates on this will probably end up on wanam's 15-toggles thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1876384
Hi all,
I know that pac-man rom says it incorporates CM10.1 and other goodies. But which is really better? What is in paranoidAndroid and AOKP that is not in CM10.1?
Cheers!

It's really a subjective matter; one isn't necessarily better than another. It's all what you like/prefer/need. Cyanogenmod is known for a good mix of stability, performance, and tweakability. Paranoid Android, for the most part, builds on Cyanogenmod and adds the hybrid engine for a hybrid phone/tablet layout that gives several options for customization. I haven't really used AOKP, but I do know that it is extremely customization oriented.
I'm using the Pac-Man Rom and it's working (almost) like a charm.
Only things that don't work are
1) Rear Camera
2) No zram option
3) Minfree Taskkiller not doing anything apparently, have set it to 50mb and never ever have 50mb free Sometimes even less than 5mb, which makes overall smoothness suffer a lot.
Other than that, with some initial troubleshooting I got it working perfectly fine, and it's A LOT faster and way more customizable than my previous Gingerbread Rom. There's some hidden setting for everything
I had to install and boot CM9 first though, then edit two entrys in build.prop (change venturi_usa to venturi).
Is there a way to make the minfree manager work? Can I just install another one from the market or is it gonna interfere with the one that comes preinstalled but doesn't work in the performance settings?
Nvm, user error. When I enter the task manager it just shows wrong information. Under running apps it appears to be showing the correct value.

Hello all,
As the title states, I'm completely new to Android. I've been with the iPhone for quite some time and have recently changed over to the HTC One. Everything is awesome so far, but there are a few annoying quirks I'd like to change to make it perfect. I've done a bit of research, but I guess my searching terms were a bit too specific? I'm looking for a custom ROM that is based on Sense 5 with 4.2.2 and WiFi calling so I can have the option to keep Blinkfeed, Zoe, TV apps and the ability to delete some of the preinstalled programs like Facebook and Twitter. In addition, I'd like to have the option to give the HTC logo wake device functionality. I believe this is done through installing the tbalden kernel? I'm looking at the Trickdroid ROM, as it seems that might be the closest thing to what I'm looking for, but in a video review I watched of it it seemed there was only a wake from volume rocker option. Also, it seems Wifi calling is unavailable at the moment? In any case, if there is something out there that you guys can suggest I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!!

I can at least verify a lack of WiFi calling on all 4.2.2 ROMs. We will have to wait for the official T-Mobile ROM to drop or leak to get that functionality.

So once the 4.2.2 update comes out for T-Mobile HTC One's, we'll be able to have wifi calling capability with any 4.2.2 ROM ie. Trickdroid? Also, just a quick side question, I'm looking at the Trickdroid page and it says there is an option for the tbalden kernel, which is where the htclogo2wake functionality lies. Does this mean while installing Trickdroid, I'll have the option to install that instead of the stock kernel and have the options to map my HTC logo? Thanks!

To answer your first question, as long as the setup of WiFi calling is the same way as 4.1.2, then I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Awesome! Thanks, you've been very helpful! You wouldn't happen to have any experience with Trickdroid would u? haha
Trickdroid is great! I've been using it for quite some time and no issues. I use my cell as my work phone so reliability is big for me - and no problems... I haven't played too much with any of the kernels for the one but you will need to flash it separately. Welcome to Android!

That's good to hear! And thanks for the welcome! I see on the Trickdroid page that the tbalden kernel is an option. Does that mean it's already built into the ROM and that I'll have the option to remap the HTC logo or is there something I have to do along the lines of choosing it during the ROM install? Thanks!

If I remember correctly, Trickdroid uses Aroma installer, which takes you through an install wizard (prone to freezing so don't worry if it freezes, just reboot and retry) and let's you select a bunch of different options, not sure if Kernel selection is included in that or not.
Thanks for the info. I just wanna get all the info I can before attempting my first custom ROM install. That kernel is pretty much the biggest thing I'm looking for, this power button at the top thing is getting a bit annoying.. lol Also, I have an unrelated question that I'm hoping maybe someone here could answer. I couldn't find anything through searching the forums. Are the sound profiles on our phones customizable? Every time I change profiles, I have to change the settings manually. For example, I want the vibrate profile to quiet all sound and just vibrate for everything. However, when I go back to normal and switch back to vibrate, the sound for notifications and alarms are back on. Doesn't this defeat the purpose of profiles??
No 4.2.2 based rom supports wifi calling so far. If you want a customized rom, try viper. You will addict to it.

So if I installed a 4.2.2 ROM now, would wifi calling be enabled when T-Mobile releases its official update automatically? Or will I have reinstall the ROM?

no. you will have to wait for the update for the rom your on for wifi calling. as far as roms go viper has the most customization by far and arhd is the closest to stock but i recommend viper as you can keep it stock looking or if you want to customize to your hearts content and i mean everything is customizable. and venom hub has the kernels that enable logo2wake and many other options available. happy flashing bro:highfive:
Ok, Thanks! I'll definitely take a look at Viper then. Also, are you saying that it has the tbalden kernel already built into it? As in I don't have to do anything separate in order to use logo2wake?

no. in the venom hub which is an app for viper rom it has all the compatible kernels and when you select it. it will download it and boot to recovery and flash it(twrp only cwm manual flash only)
cool, I'll definitely look into viper. So you're saying that it's based off of the sense UI and looks stock until you start customizing? Because that is exactly what I'm looking for. I want to have pretty much everything stock with the exception of the battery icon in the status bar, logo2wake and some other little things here and there. Also, is there an option to wake the screen when you get a text or notification without having to use a third party app? Seems like such a no-brainer for this to be a part of the phone stock, but for some reason is not.

I can't find the viper rom in the dev section... is it in another ONE Forum?
Ya gotta go to the general htc one forums, get outta the tmobile forums

My favorite Rom is the Google Edition Rom.
I wanted some AOSP but every rom i tried had terrible battery life (like 1% dropping every 3 minutes) with just using web browser. I tried ARHD GE, CyanogenMod, AHRD Sense version, faux kernel, aux kernel and elemental kernel and everything was kind of the same. Now im using Sense based Insertcoin ROM and i must say that battery life is way better and got rid of most of bloatware
Hey all, first time user here!
Alright, so I've searched high and low for this question but can't find a decent answer.
What I want to do is to enable dual panel with PA Hybrid. Is there a way to do it? I've tried to change my DPI and change to Phablet and Tablet but I can't find a way to enable it. I've seen a lot of people using it but I can't really do anything to get it. Compared to other phones, I don't have the option to enable it under General UI. I don't really know if it has something to do with my version (using the latest) but I haven't seen anything in the changelog that they have changed it or removed it.
Help would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

When you say "using the latest"... are you on the Milestone build? That's the last stable build. The dual panel for settings and PAC settings only came with nightlies after that build. They're 4.3 builds, and not officially stable yet (alpha build). In saying that, I've been using PAC 4.3 nightlies for a week or so now as a daily driver, with nothing to cause me to go back to 4.2.2.
Although, I'm not sure you can use dual-panel settings with hybrid (happy to be corrected, I don't use the hybrid settings a whole lot). I know that running the settings app as 240dpi, 360p and standard phone settings (vs phablet/tablet) should let you use the 2 panel settings on the latest nightlies.
