HI! I'm sorry if i post in the wrong place but i have a question. It can be a little bit stupid but...
i am in a project and i have to send SMS to different numbers. Somewhere 500-1000 messeges and i want to be private. So the people would not know the number. It should be something like the private messages from Gossip girl i think.
i Posted here because the phone from where i want to do this is a samsung galaxy S3. i9300 with android 4.3. rooted
thanks in advice!
There's no setting on the s3 that will hide your number
Use a computer or talk with your network

do you know any program on pc?
or maybe an application that will send my SMS under another number? i found one app but it is not working
the idea is that i want to send SMSs and the reciever should not now my number. i don''t want to make anything illegal. only something nice for a party. for al the participants to recieve nice SMS from a known number that is not in their agenda or a unknown number.
Thanks for your help!
You'll have to Google it. Its not something I would be comfortable helping you with. Suffice to say, there's nothing specific to the s3 that can do this

Not sure if you'd have this option available to you but one carrier in my country supports this (but not every carrier here, just this one). You have to start typing your message with some operator code and then type your message normally. Just to clarify, this opcode goes in-message, first thing you type. This way the message you're sending goes anonymous.
This is not my carrier so I only know it's something in the lines of *#number#. it'd probably be useless anyway, since not even other carriers here do this, I'm pretty sure it's specific to this one (its tmn portugal, btw
Maybe check with your carrier if they do? Regardless, I've seen people do this since cellphones exist so it's got nothing to do with the s3.

sorry if i said it wrong and i can not make you believe that i am not spamming. i can only describe in more detail what i want to do. i am in a non profit organisation that needs funds for helping people and in my country we can make money organising partys. but the problem is that in the same night there is another organisation that wants to do a party too and we want to make something special for the people to come.and we thought about sending to all people that want to come to our party smss. like " hi party people, have a nice party and we hope that you will enjoy. i can not tell you what organisation because we do not want for our "enemies" to know and copy our idea. but if you want i can tell you that in private. this organisation is internatiol and you might know. o hope this helps. i don't want to spam. thank you!

Sorry in advance if this has specifically been addressed. Doing a quick search didn't seem to cover it.
And I started an exact thread over in the Inspire 4G General forum, not knowing where to post it. As I understand, this would be a better place to post this question.
Is it possible for the experts here in XDA to write something into Android's code to allow for a Reply All feature in SMS, like in iPhone's SMS? I'm thinking the Reply All feature must be unfixable because there is conversations all over the internet for people requesting Google to fix it. Some have even stayed with Apple because they would miss that feature too much.

There are 3rd party apps working on this. Only google will be able to add the function to the default and to be honest it doesn't seem high on the list
Scroll to the bottom - some hope it seems..

Thanks for the link. Hopefully this gets put into Google's basic code and baked into Android.
Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.

Indeed this supposedly is put into AOSP JB 4.2 ROM's natively now. I just hope I can get a ROM for my Inspire, but if not, at least it'll be there for future and some present phones.
Anyone know how to sort the problem of Facebook (and Skype) renaming contacts on my phone?
When you join a Facebook contact up with a Google contact it will choose the Facebook name over the Google contact name in my contacts list.
For example:
Google contact name: Joe Bloggs
Facebook name: Joe RandomName
It would then rename my correct Joe Bloggs to Joe RandomName in on my phone contacts.
It is driving me mad. It does not make the change when I log into Google contacts online as it still shows as Joe Bloggs but not on phone.
Surely you should be able to choose the correct Google name over some random Facebook name. Damn Touchwiz
(Running stock 4.0.3 XEU)

No need to be abusive!
This is a forum where people ask questions. I did perform a search and found no answer hence my question - I have been on this forum since 2007 so I know how it works.
Furthermore, your response was useless. I am well aware that I don't have to sync my contacts with Facebook but I want to for many reasons.
And, whilst you are on the subject of giving me tips on how to use this forum please use proper English and not abbreviated text / SMS type chat that a 10 year old would use. This would help when people like me are searching for answers to such questions.
Thank you and have a good day!

That is some good advice since I know how hard searching can be. For example one time I was searching for info I know was in one of the 12,000+ post rom threads a month after I read it. I searched for over a hour in that thread but never found it becuase the person had bad spelling and abbreviations.
How bad is that when I know for a fact the info in on this forum in a specific post but can't find it because I am not capable of remembering the persons atrocious spelling.
That is just one example of the many searches that have failed because of the same problem.

Thanks
The topic explinet all. I just want to see how many people will be in support of that. I know that there are so many social app out there that can do the same thing. But to me whatsapp is the most used app yet. I just want to see how many people will agreed to create a group helping each other faster and easier to find which member in the group who have a problem and solve it as fast as we can.
Please if you agreed to this suggestion. Leave a comment below and what do you really think about that.
The maximum number of membership in this group will be 30 and if there is anyway suggesting another social app. Please feel free.
Good luck guys.
Note. If this will be a success topic I will do group for each device as suggested.

Use Line by Naver. it's like whatsapp but it's free. and you can create bigger groups. and you get "stickers" which are cool emoticons.
Hi everyone,
Since I've upgraded my GS3 to cm10.1 - I keep getting mobile broadcasts saying '020' which is the London area code, why do these keep coming up? Ive tried to disable them but I've run out of options
Please help
Anyone?

pointless post, fair enough he could search but also you couldve explained more about the rule/guidelines.also its said that if you have not anything useful to post then dont
- to the O.P i think you need to look in your messages folder and its somewhere along the lines of service messages that will need disabling
Was not talking about the first rule. People should not post before reading the rules, there's nothing pointless about that
pointless as in meaning your not helping anyone in any way,let the moderators do there job and if you get the urge to help them then rightfully press the report button and report it,
Thanks to the person that actually helped. Looking into it that way. The other guy, don't mini-mod.. He's right, if you want to report the post, go for it - otherwise don't try bump your post count up here.
Cheers
I'm also getting this. turned off all mobile broadcast options in settings and still getting them. they are only area codes like 020 or 0170 etc. or strings of area codes like that. quite annoying
Suggest one of the CM discussion threads .
jje
Turn alert notification ON in mobile broadcast but untick everything else.
I have no idea why it's backwards, it just is.
Had the same problem (in UK too). Quick googling suggested to delete "Mobile Broadcast Receiver" application. Since then no broadcasts anymore!
OK, so I've been trying to fix this for a while now wondering if it's something that I've done wrong but with no success.
Here's my problem.
I rooted my S3 mini (GT-I8190N) running on 4.1.2 using this guide. Everything worked great, had no problem using it to root the phone at all.
After I removed all the 3rd party pre-installed crap -facebook- and finished setting up the phone the way I like it, I noticed that the hotspot was no longer working!
So I tried using hotspot apps, re-rooting, resetting and even leaving it off for a while just to see if anything would happen. It did not.
After looking around a few people have had this issue but I've not been able to find a working fix for mine. Could anyone point me in the direction of one please or advise me on how to fix this as I use it a lot.
Thanks.
Sorry, this is not the s3 mini forum. Completely different phone. Please use the /!\ report button to have a moderator move your post to the correct location.
