[Q] How can I customize my status bar? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm just a newbe.
I have the original stock rom (Gingerbread 2.3.6) with root permissions in a Galaxy Mini 2 (GT-S6500).
I'd like to customize the original status bar and notification bar. For instance, I want to change then toggle buttons adding "Airplane mode", and stuff like that.
How can I do that? I tried to look for this in the web but I couldn't find something straight to follow. I got lost between various "deodexed" things.
Which are the steps I should follow?
Thank you,
Enryfantasy

this works for me

Getting rid of the lock bar

I want to know what it takes to hide or make invisible the lock bar that is present on the lock screen. Is it possible?
Thx
P.S. Sorry if this thread has already been a topic.
If you have a rooted phone, download Metamorph from the market (which also requires AndExplorer).
Download this to your sd card:

Use metamorph to apply the theme. You should now have a clear lockscreen as I do in Modaco 3.1.

[Q] Restoring carrier name to status bar

Im currently using the Home Base rom. I was previously using some other roms, and I think it was in the Alien #4 rom that the carrier was displayed in the status bar at the top left at all times.
I don't want to download any apps like phono or change carrier name unless necessary. Is there some kind of mod to restore the carrier name to the status bar or do I just have to use a rom that has that mod?

Just a question, but...why would you WANT the carrier's name at the top left? They removed it because it looks nicer and offers you more room for any status bar messages that may appear.
I just got used to it in the original rom I guess
I did accidently restored the AT&T to the status bar by replacing SystemUI.apk file with one from a rom that had it.
Try using the file from this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1222426
Actually this is the file that I used to do this. Only use on 4.5.91 or it may cause stability issues if it works at all.

I was testing my own rom for a month, an now I decide to share with everybody. First thanks to ZuneDx for the dialer and Gmail app, i have modified them to add color icons and solve little problems with stock roms. This them have...
- Wifi, USB, BT and setting icons colored. When you are adquiring GPS, animated icon. Animated icos for download/upload and instalation too.
- Loading... icon is now animated.
- 1% Battery numbering and external circle.
- Batería cada 1% numérica y con circulo.
- Task bar expanded with sliding widgtes of wifi, BT, brightness, reset, sitch off, etc... You can choose the order and the widgets to appear.
- ICS dialer in both modes.
- Several ICS icons (camera, camera 3d, gallery, phone, ...)
- New desktop dock.
- Colored FM Radio.
- New Gmail app, with colored icons.
- Curtain with background image.
- You can choose between 2 files, with 7 or 5 desktops.
REQUIREMENTS
- Be ROOT. You needn't unlocked bootloader, it's only a theme, not a ROM...
- Have installed a recovery.
- Make a BACKUP, for unexpected fails...
- IT WORKS PERFECTLY ON STOCK ROM, I HAVEN'T TESTED ON OTHERS... BUT I THINK IT MUST WORK.
PROCESS
1. First install file "original.zip" from recovery. If you have had a custom status bar before, you needn't do this step. When you do this and reboot you don't see anything new... go to next step...
2. Go again to recovery and install 7escritorios.zip (if you want 7 desktops) or 5escritorios.zip (if you want 5 desktops, obviously...)
3. Inside "control barra.zip" there is an apk. Install as normal program, and you'll have an app to control the order and the options of widget taskbar
NOTE: If you have FC error when open Gmail, go to Settings---->Applications------>Manage applications----->All---------->Gmail------->Clear Data. Reinstall via recovery the theme and problem will disappear.
HOW WIDGET BAR WORKS?
It's a sliding bar, if you push to right you have more icons. If you only press the widget icon you only activate this feature (or change the mode for brightness and sound). If you hold pressing you'll access to the feature settings directly.
Spanish translations and most colored icons it's my own work, i hope you like it!
More screenshots, settings, widget bar and dialer...
More screenshots, Gmail and Radio

Status bar icon mods

I was wondering, what do you use for modifying status bar icons? I tried ROM toolbox and went to change battery icon but after changing it all i get is force close from systemui so i rebooted and the status bar was gone.
I fixed it by flashing ROM again in cwm, and then i tried ROM toolbox again for signal bars, the same thing happened.
I'm on cm10, 9/8/12 with Samsung mods (touchwiz ux and some Samsung apps). Stock cm10 kernel.

I used the UOT Kitchen (http://uot.dakra.lt/) on my captivate a while back but never tried on my GS2. I suppose it would work the same way for our phones. It has many options for battery icons, etc.
APK Manager. Extract (option 1 in the script), optimize PNGs (option 2), and zip (option 3) for simple PNG replacement; decompile (9) and recompile (11) for code editing.

Themer for G2 mini

I belive some users tried to run themer on g2 mini, but it couldn't work because of resolustion support. We have 960x540 (which is supported by themer), but since we have soft-keys themer detects 886x540... They recently added support for 888x540 and I've managed to get 888x540. I have stock 4.4.2 rom.
1. You need rooted device.
2. Install Xposed Framework and GravityBox [KK] module.
3. In Xposed, enable GravityBox and reboot.
4. Go to GravityBox -> Navigation Bar Tweaks, turn Master switch on, scroll to the bottom of the screen and change navigation bar settings (for both portrait and landscape orientation) to 98%.
5. Reboot.
This method reduce nav bar height by 2px and themer detects 888x540 resolution. You should be able to see themes in themer now.
i work arround that i install auto hide navigation bar and works fine but i going to try that maybe can be set in build prop to dont install nothing more
Well, I tried to auto hide nav. bar, but auto hide is not usable for more reasons, at least on my phone. When nav is hidden, themer works fine, but some stock apps crash on start up. Such as phone, contacts, gallery etc. When I unhide it, it cange screen height at 886 so, themer crashes.
Hi mate ! Need a help .. I have just rooted my lg g2 mini lolipop but there is this problem xposed says installing framework might brick my phone because, processor or something doesn't match. Therefore, what should I do now ? Should do a titanium backup before installing ? I haven't done any backup before rooting.
Thanks in advance
This method works on 4.4.2 stock KK rom. Probably it will work on stock 5.0.2.
You're getting this warning, because you're trying to install Xposed for KitKat rom, which won't work with Lollipop. There are threads on this forum about getting Xposed to work on 5.x roms, so, try that. If you get it working, you can customize nav bar and run themer.
