[Q] Battery callibration. - Micromax A116

Can i calibrate my battery now? After flashing 3 Roms. Which is the best app or way to do it safely in the CHD?
I don't feel any major battery issues nor that it hold too less of power but still i saw that many recommend to do a battery calibration after installing a custom ROM or at least once a month to ensure better battery life and the amount of charge it holds.

Battery Problem

I have flashed over 5 roms now and the biggest problem i'm seeing is that the battery drains really fast on the wm 6.5 roms. I was wondering if there is a way to prevent this problem or a way that can help reduce this problem?? Thank you!
I think battery drain is relative to user's opinion. Some might say 2 days of battery life is not enough, and some other might say one full day battery life is normal.
There are many ways to minimize battery consumption. Minimal battery consumption means longer battery life. You may try WMLongLife (adds little bit more battery life, in my device). There's also a thread about battery life tips floating in this forum. I forgot who wrote it. It's a very well-written thread. You may search for it.

[Q] Back to Froyo for better battery life. Ok to stick with Froyo?

Hi all,
I've really tried to stick with GB (pre-rooted or Eclipse) on my X2. Tried SBFing back and re-flashing P3Droid's GB multiple times, but my battery life is reduced significantly on GB... Tried all of the batttery saver apps, tips, tricks, including the reboot after full battery. And yes, I followed all instructions to the word. I also realize this has been discussed to death so I'm not asking for solutions.
I do want to report that SBFing back again to Froyo, rooting, debloating, and V6 scripting (update 8) brought back the battery life I am happy with. On GB (or Eclipse), after 7 hrs I was down to about 60% (and that's overnight with zero usage). Now back on Froyo, 10 hrs later with actual email/phone use, I'm still at 88%! Now THAT is more like it!
I hate to regress to Froyo especially considering the lag/re-draws I had with it out of the box. On a happier note, it seems the latest V6 script made my X2 Froyo as quick as it was on GB Eclipse 0.5. No more lag/re-draws I had on with original Froyo!
Personally, I'm happy as a clam sticking with Froyo, but do you guys see any issues keeping my X2 on Froyo? Am I missing anything critical on GB?
Thanks for any input...
The title was a bit confusing but after reading the body of your message I understand. For me moving to Gingerbread provided better battery life. I would suggest that you turn off auto-brightness and move the slider down almost all the way. At first it may not seem bright enough but your eyes will adjust. Sometimes though you will need to bump that back up especially if in bright sunlight. That's one small thing you can do to improve your battery life no matter what version you are running.
As for using the battery saving apps, over use can actually have a negative impact. I would actually suggest you avoid them because you can do it yourself with the tools you already have installed. First you would want to fully charge your phone, enter recovery, go to advanced, wipe battery status, reboot/unplug phone and then do not charge the phone or hook it up to a power source again until the battery is below 20% - then you should plug it up and allow it to charge fully to 100%. Even then it make take a few charge cycles before you get a more accurate measurement.
Try letting your battery drain until device shuts off, charge it to full, boot into recovery and clear battery stats. Battery issues after flashing is common across all platforms

Thanks guys, but the point for me is not to have to 'work around' or sacrifice certain basic functions of the phone to get adequate battery life that I had on Froyo. I did play with brightness, data modes, battery modes. I also did the battery stat re-calibration both manually and with the Battery Calibration app. As others have stated in this thread Phone idle uses 5 times more battery in prerooted 2.3.3, battery calibration/saving tips really doesn't extend the battery life by much.
So at any rate, going back to my question... Will there be a problem for me (other than not receiving future updates) sticking with Froyo? Any critical apps that will no longer work in Froyo that you know of?
The majority of applications run on 2.1 up, so no you should not have a problem with any.
Wunderbar! Thank you!

[Q] Which ROM yields longest battery life?

Which of the ROMs available in the development area will provide me with the greatest battery life? (without loss of important features or anything)

I personally prefer Nottachtrix, it's fast as hell and awsome battery life

You could take a look at the Neutrino ROM. It is missing features, though there are plenty of add-ons that you could easily download to suit your needs. Other than that it's extremely compact and snappy, and (so I've heard) the black and white theme actually helps out battery life tremendously.

This is for my girlfriend's phone. I can't test these out realtime, but I put the light Neutrino on it and it didn't last a whole day. Got Aqua on there and the battery life on there doesn't seem to be exquisite either.
Gonna try out Nottachtrix when I get the chance.
ROMS generally take a few days to show their full battery potential. In other words, when you install a new ROM you should charge it to 100% (before installing), delete the battery stats, and discharge all the way through until it turns off. Charge it all the way to 100% and discharge to 0% for a few cycles and you'll begin to see more accurate battery performance. Installing a ROM for one day and then installing another the next isn't going to tell you anything about true battery performance. It needs a little bit of time, just like it took a few cycles when she first got her phone for the battery to last its full amount.
Neutrino and CM7 should generally be lasting a whole day, if not 2 days. I am on a CM9 based ROM and even my battery lasts from 6 in the morning to 12 at night. As I've stated, it takes a bit of time for the battery to shine.
I get pretty decent battery life out of The Darkside Prefinal. From 6am-10pm with about an hour or so charging inbetween I usually have about 40% or so left. Neutrino ROM has been pretty good to me too. About 35%-30% left in the same time frame mentioned earlier

[Q] Best Streak 5 ROM for battery life

Hi
I looked here and there is a ton of custom ROMs listed; http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Dell_Streak/ROMs#Custom_Roms
but which one so far, have the best battery life for the Streak 5?
Here's my current usage:
1. I do not play games, no fun apps, no youtube
2. I do not use maps or GPS
3. I use 2 browser apps: Opera Mini and stock browser frequently
4. 2 email apps: Gmail and Yahoo
5. I use timeriffic to keep my phone on airplane mode from 11pm - 7am
I'd like to keep the Streak up online for at least 3-4 days on a single charge.
Thanks for your help!
The ROM is not your major issue here. That kind of battery life is unlikely to happen with a standard 1500MAh or even a Mugen 1800MAh battery as the Streak simply draws too much power for such battery life to be feasible. Switch to a Mugen 4800MAh battery and you'll get that kind of battery life, but at a price. The Mugen battery is larger.

I have been trying to find ways to optimize battery life by using apps like Timeriffic. Do you know any app that shuts the android phone down and restarts it at a designated time?
Thanks for the advice regarding the Mugen battery alternative!
Regarding the ROMs (2.3.3 and up), which would you recommend given that I am light on the apps side? Just a lightweight and extremely stable custom ROM. Thanks again!
Cheers.
DSC 2.3 is the most full-featured ROM available, being based off the Olleh KT 407 ROM. Thus it properly supports all the Streak's features. If you want a lighter ROM than that one of the CyanogenMod ROMs with the Phoenix kernel will do you fine. The only issues I encountered with using a CyanogenMod-based ROM was the zoom no longer functioned on the camera and the dialpad being too small on the dialer.

[Q] battery callibration..myth or necessity

hi all
i flashed neatrom kk and then cm11 recently
but my poor 3 years old battery giving nonsense replies
it drop down from %80 to % 12-14 sunddenly after a reboot or crash
so is this because of my battery condition? or because of flashing roms?
and can callibration makes a differ? or is it just a myth?
ty
3 yrs old battery is the root of this problem. Flashing roms may affect your battery life but it happens only when you do it too much.
From my personal experience I can say that battery calibration is more a myth than necessity.
Im having the same issue. The best option is to buy a new one i presume
Correct. And calibration is an absolute myth. It's impossible to (re)calibrate these batteries.
There's a "Reset Fuel Gauge Chip" option in Dorimanx kernel and it stabilized my phones battery. It used to show 30% after a restart just right after i unplugged it from the power source:good::good:
