[Q] ROMs for i9300UBELL1 Movistar Argentina - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys. How are you?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 (Baseband version: i9300UBELL1 /// Kernel version: 3.0.31-789635 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jan 25 00:23:01 KST 2013 /// Build number: JZO54K.I9300UBEMA2) from Movistar Argentina. A couple of months ago, my phone got SDS (sudden death syndrome) and lucky for me it was during the warranty period. After getting a new board (from the outside is the same phone), Samsung guys upgrade the system to the one I have mentioned.
Last weeks, I rooted my phone and installed SuperNexus 3.0 (build 1). The experience was incredible: greatest speed ever, smooth interphase, clean system, faster connection and re-connection to 3G networks. Everything was amazing, until my phone started to freeze. At first I thought, it was part of the ROM development because this was build 1, but day after day the freeze got worse (like the symptoms I experienced before SDS). As my phone still is a SDS candidate (checked with eMMC), even that SuperNexus 3.0 (b1) has the kernel patch sudden death fix, I changed to SuperNexus 2.0. To make the long story short, the freeze problem continued so I've restored to factory state for warranty purpose... just in case...
I would like to optimize my S3. What do you recommend me to do? Does someone has the same phone model rooted with a good ROM without the freezing issue? What ROM do you recommend me to install in i9300UBELL1? By knowing that my phone is a SDS candidate, is there any risky to try different ROMs?
Thanks!

Hello fantasmanegro. Do you have the same phone model (I9300ubell1 from South America)? How does it work on your device? Any freeze issues? Thx.

The i9300 is the i9300. The rest of it means nothing. The i9300 is international so everyone who posts here has an i9300 or an i9305. Infact only our "general" section is shared with i9305, our q&a, where you now know this should have gone - is ONLY i9300 users. UBELL1 means nothing

[Q]

Hi,
My uncle bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 from Singapore last year. He rooted it after a while to CyangonMod 7 (not sure of exact version). He passed it onto me half a year back. It was a very glitchy ROM so, on a suggestion, I moved to Dilidroid. All my problems vanished, except one - if the screen was on for more than a minute while discharging, it would automatically switch itself off and not switch on again. I switched to Resurrection Remix and then back to Dilidroid, then to Slim Bean, and now finally I am on cMIUI. This problem has existed in all these ROMs. I was the happiest with Slim Bean, but clearly until this problem is solved, I cannot return to any.
The "baseband version" is i9100UHLPG.
Kernel: "3.0.15-CM-g712c2c6 [email protected] )) #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Oct 15 05:30:27 PDT 2012"
Miui build: "MIUI-2.10.9 cMIUI"
Please note that the phone was bought in Singapore but is currently being used in India.
As the video in lieu of T&C stated, I am a complete n00b. Please excuse that, since my uncle rooted it and it's giving me a lot of trouble. All help is much appreciated. Thank you very much
1) Questions belong in Q&A.
2) Thread titles like '[Q]' tend not to get a lot of replies. How do you expect people to help you without a descriptive title (There's a reason you haven't had a reply in the last 3.5 hrs up until now) ?
3) In the first instance, if I were in your situation, I would do a clean install of a stock rom to rule in/out a hardware issue. If you find the phone is fine on stock, do another install of the rom of your choice & see how it goes.
You can find stock roms @ Samfirmware.com, AndroidFirmwares.net or with the PC version of Checkfus (search for it on here/Google). Guides on how to flash & the basics are here.

[Q] could my galaxy die?

Hello everyone I just bought a new phone which is galaxy s3 , I read that my model may suffer the sudden death problem.
The device is new from the box and it is the 16GB model.
Its unrooted and running android 4.1.2
More information about it:
Baseband version: I9300BOLK3
Kernel version : 3.0.31 - 742798 [email protected] -111#1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Dec 22 17:04:04 KST 2012
Build number: JZO54K.I9300XXELLA
Sould I be afraid of audswn death or any proccesor bugs ?
check the SDS threads in General, they have all the info you need
samsung claimed the latest update has fixed sudden death issue,so far I do not see anyone who updated to latest firmware complain about sudden death.
wait, was there an official statement? got a link?
depends on how damage ur s3 had taken and if ur on the safe kernels and recoveries
If you are on XXELLA and haven't rooted and changed kernel then as far as anyone is aware you are protected.....although there has been no official confirmation, but analysis by the hard working devs suggests you're safe.
If you decide to root then make sure you install a recovery that has the fix(most of them now) if you change recovery - likewise with kernel, if you change that.
Thanks alot for helping so i understood that i am protected , i didnt root / change anyting all is stock and i am on XXELLA is that right ?

[Q] [cm]Problem with signal on custom rom

Hi all, i need to ask you for advice. I am confused. I have problem with stability of signal on my I-9100.
A year ago i started discovering new potencials of custom roms. From that time i ended using CM9. Before CM9 i tried several custom roms and start feeling problems with signal.
S2S was originaly buyed from T-MOBILE CZ at the end of year 2011.
Currently i am using:
android 4.0.4
Baseband I9100BOLP5
Core [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun Dec 9 02:24:17 PST 2012
CM version 9-20121209-NIGHTLY-galaxys2

app GetRIL report:
RIL: I9100XXLQ6; I9100XWL
BASEBAND: i9100BOLP5
I think i want originaly ?modem? and ?ril? from t-mobile for the best performance, but i dont know what to do. I was trying to browse on XDA and i found topic with originaly things, but i get so confused that i look for help from more skill user.
Thank you all

Hi CM9 is a really old ROM.Try CM 10 or 10.1.But if you don't want to,then search for XXMS2 modem. There are many guides how to flash a modem here on XDA.

Thank you guys! I wrote PM to sadekmefti with more Q about his answer and soon as i will know exactly what i should do, i amke reply to this thread. In final i want to make brand new CM 10.1 flsh with JB. I wait impatiently to stabel version, because i use phone every day and i need him for work. I cant risk, that nightly will be corrupt with saome undetect problem. Correct me if i am wrong, but theres no newer stable version of CM then CM9, is it? I cant find it on CM download center. All i see is CM 10.1 nightly for i9100.
EDIT:
I look a while ago for brand stock version of roms nd i found this czech android forum with link to XDA.

. Theres czech tmobile section (thanks to intratech) and there is BOKE3, BOKG2 and BOKK1. In which order i should proceed with flashing, installing new kernel (is it needed? I supposed yes. ), new proper XXMS2 modem and RIL?

I know, but stock roms with all the crap from operators and manufacturer is unuseable. Now, i work with the old CM9 prety well except signal loses and poor tvoice quality :/
What about rooted stock (so you can get rid of all the bloat) ? That way you have the best of both worlds (remove all the crap and it 'just works').

That is one way and my original point in which i decided yeras ago to do first flash. Then i wanted to test CM and its futures. So yes. Steps after steps if secure baase function even with stock JB rom. If is posible to use for example CM10.1, that will be great, but not conditions. I must admit that i am very nicely lost know. I dont know what exactly should i do next to get proper function of signal - phone signal, net, gps etc... GPS problems was oone of the reasons why i wanted to try new roms with all the hooks ways for better gps signal.
Thank you guys... yesterday i flashed xxms2 modem with RIL and works fine. Couple of my contacts who complain on quality of my voice in the past confirmed, that xxms2 sounds much better. Thanks again!

[Q] S3 upgrade issue

Hi Guys,
It's been more than a year since i purchased my Samsung galaxy S3 and almost the same amount of time since i have done any modifications on any android device. I have been facing quite a lot of issues especially when it comes to the speed. At the moment, i have a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 with the following specs:
Android version 4.1.2,
Baseband version I9300XXEMA5,
Kernel Version 3.0.31-1287119 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jun 28 00:40:06 KST 2013
Build Number JZ054J.I9300XXEMF6
I have the following concerns/questions:
1. Why Slow Speed?
2. If a stock s3 is upgradable to 4.3 then why is my current version 4.1.2 even when though i have tried the software upgrade via wifi and Kies. Can it be upgraded through any other means?
3. How can i root it without bricking it
appreciate an expert opinion on this.

1. don't know, maybe after upgrade and full wipe it is solved (backup data before)
2. maybe in your country an upgrade is not available at the moment. you can also upgrade with odin. download a 4.3 sammy rom and flash it through odin. how to is in the general section - stickies
3. again stickies. alternative: choose a prerooted stock firmware or a custom sammy rom and flash it through a custom recovery (recovery has also to be flashed threough odin e.g. philz)

1 define slow speed .
2 thats down to your vendor not updating .
3 by following the instructions .

Slow speed as in memory is usually used upto 80%, hardly any applications are running in the background, too much lagging, applications take a lot of time to open etc.
This also happens even when i have turned my sync off and have limited the applications to at most 2 process at a time.
Sent from my GT-I9300
Read the forum flash a custom rom .

[Q] S3 insane chip phone doing wierd things on 4.3

Hi Folks,
I just bought this secondhand lovely new looking S3 that was still in the box. I was ecstatic, but once I started to use it I realised it is a lemon. It does weird things. Drops calls, gets no reception with full bars showing, drops mic input, won't call, won't receive a call, sound sometimes goes garbled during call. I can't use it.
It is running Jelly bean 4.3. Full details below,
Model: GT-i9300
Android: 4.3
Baseband version: I9300XXUGNA8
Kernel version: 3.0.31-2454463
build no: JSS15J.19300XXUGNB6
getRIL: confirmed RIL/baseband matching
eMMC chip: VTU00M build: 09/2012 FwRev: 0xf1 - confirmed insane
What are my options here? While I could pension it off to the next unsuspecting consumer as was done to me I'm not going to lower myself to that. Is there anything I can do to get this phone working or am I better off just counting my losses and going back to HTC which I've always used and love? This is my first Samsung phone and I"m not impressed. Samsung should recall. Its disgusting and damaging to their image. Well I'm already wiping them from my list of products for life.
thanks

First thing to try is flash a stock rom with Odin look here for guides >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/samsung-galaxy-s3-sticky-roll-thread-t2344125 << if problems persist after flashing another stock rom then it is most likely a hardware problem....

Thanks for the reply. Won't flashing a ROM risk sudden death syndrome? My understanding of the insane ROM and SDS is that any reflashing could brick the phone immediately. Or maybe I'm not right on that one.

Lol no I have flashed 100s of times (Lost count I have flashed that many times) and I have insane chip..Only roms you should keep away from is 4.0.4 roms... To be honest I would keep on 4.3 roms because if you flash a rom below this you may run into efs issues which is a separate thing from sds.. Look on sammobile for a 4.3 rom to flash and follow the guides don't forget if you have a bootloop after flashing to factory reset your device.
