[?] Help with 1st time root Droid RAZR-"daemon not running" - Motorola Droid RAZR

I'm trying to help a buddy root his RAZR running stock 4.1.2. Installed latest drivers on his laptop, dl'ed the RAZR blade.zip, ran run.bat, command prompt came up and prompted me to press any key. Did that, then the daemon message came up and nothing.
Blinking underscore, able to scroll way down in the window, but not able to type any further commands. Waited easily 10 minutes and no change.
Mounted to his pc as media, not mass storage.
What went wrong? Any help would be fantastic!

What Razr?
CDMA XT912 or GSM XT910? That method is for the XT912
This must be enabled:
Unknown Sources (Config > Security > Unknown Sources)
USB Debug (Config > Developer Options > USB debug)
Mock Locations (Config > Developer Options > Mock Location)

Cdma. Usb debugging is enabled.
I'm following the steps from http://www.androidjunkies.com/how-to-root-the-droid-razr-on-the-android-4-1-2-update/
He did just perform a factory reset and hadn't yet signed into his Google account, if that matters.

It suggests your phone isn't connected, or recognised. Try using another port, also check your cable.
If you have adb, see if it shows online under 'adb devices'.

GingerBreak not working/starting/opening.

Hello,
I just got my first Android phone, the Atrix 4g. So I'm relatively new to Rooting although I have jailbroken my iPod and my iPhone but I know jailbreaking is much easier and simple. My problem is that when I try to start GingerBreak.exe, nothing happens. I've installed all the drivers, set the USB Connection to "None", and turned on Debugging. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but when I start GingerBreak.exe, I suppose it appears on your phone but nothing appears or opens on my phone nor computer.
Can anyone help me? Anything is appreciated!
Thanks!
Edit: BTW, I have an external MicroSD card mounted as well.
Get adb and type adb devices in command prompt

Blehh, as I've said, I'm new so can you please tell me what adb is and where to get it?
And how would I use it?
Download adb from superoneclick. Using command prompt navigate to the directory. Then type adb devices.

Fixed guys.
It couldn't detect the phone because I needed to download the MotoHelper drivers from the Motorola websites, the x64 drivers downloaded from the guide didn't contain the Motorola ADB Interface driver.

Be sure that there aren't any programs on your computer that are interfering, such as any USB tethering programs, music sync, anti virus etc. When I have the pdanet program running on my computer adb will always say "device offline"

yes i did.
Might have to uninstall the usb and adb drivers from your computer then reconnect your phone to computer and let it install the drivers again and that should work. If using windows use device manager to install driver

Can you get adb to run correctly?

ADB? Where is it... LOL

Well I'm a noob to XDA and Android and I decided to root my Note.
Well the rooting is done, now I'm trying to find out where I access ADB from? I have the Android SDK on my computer and it has a dos program that just executes and exits quickly without any input from me.
Thanks in advance.
Try this link, shows u how to set up adb.

if you search anywhere for ADB you will find information everywhere. you can start with the official http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/adb.html but there are even more links to simpler guides.
Go to the android sdk folder open up tools..shift+right click mouse. Select open cmd prompt here. Plug your phone into your computer. Type adb devices. If drivers are installed properly and USB debugging is turned on you should get a response back with your phones serial number.
It might be alt + right click ..or ctrl+ right click...I'm not near a CPU right now.

[Q] how to connect kindle f hd 7 to adb

hi
i just began learning android. i tried to connect my kf hd to adb. i installed the jdk and eclipse. i also setup the sdk manager to install the kindle fire hd 7 and kindle fire USB driver. but i have two problems.
one is when i run my app, it always run in the android API 16 emulator even though i set the project property to KF hd 7.
the second thing is that when i connected my device to the usb port of my computer, and run the app from eclipse to debug, my device did not changed accordingly (to displays what is on eclipse. furthermore, when i clicked start->control panel->device manager i found the name of my device in it, but just "kindle" that all, not kindle fire. and i do not see "Android Composite ADB Interface". why is that? even though i installed and ran Kindle Fire ADB drivers.exe.
as i mentioned before, i am a complete noobs when it come to android and java.
thanks in advance.
Have you enabled usb debugging on the kindle?

hi
i do not know what you meant "tried adb in sdk. i had not heard that before. can you elaborate?
one thing i should tell you is that when i go to the command line and execute "adb devices", the device list is two blank lines. that showed that it did not install the usb driver correctly, right?

Problem in Mounting Phone as Mass Sotrage Device

Hi to all! I am having a problem with my device HTC Droid DNA running on NOS 3.0.3 GSM Android version 4.2.2 sense 5. Here's the problem, when i connect my Phone to PC it is being read as CD-Rom, i already installed latest HTC sync and i believe that HTC drivers are installed along with it, correct me if im wrong. Am i missing something or is there a workaround on this in order for me to be able to access my files on the phone and be able to copy files from PC to phone and vice versa.
Appreciate for any help and guidance. Cheers!!!

Google removed support for mass storage mode a while ago. The DNA and most, if not all, newer phones and phones updated to jellybean remove the support for mass storage and switch to MTP.
So what I'm trying to say is, the DNA doesn't support mass storage. It doesn't have a removable sdcard or even an dedicated internal sdcard.
The 'sdcard' is shared with the data partition and cannot be unmounted from android and mounted as a mass storage device.

You can use adb to pull and push folders and specific files from your phone.
To pull items from your phone:
adb pull <path to folder or file on phone> <path where you want the file saved on your computer> (don't use the '<>' symbols)
Note: you can use root browser to find the path on your phone
To push items to your phone:
adb push <path of folder/file on your computer> <path to folder or file on phone>
Alternatively, you can uninstall the HTC sync and install the usb driver, then when your phone is plugged in go to my computer, find the drive labeled HTC6435LVW. You'll be able to drag and drop to and from your phone.

Look in Windoze Explorer, the phone should be listed as HTC6435LVW. Also there is a free program called Android
Commander by Pan Poitr.

That's odd. You might want to try using uninstaller software like Revo Uninstaller to get all the junk left behind, reboot, then install the driver again. Also make sure you're installing the 64-bit driver if you're windows installation is 64-bit. To find that, Start > right click My Computer > properties > under System you'll see System type

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that!
Thanks for all who replied to my query! I was now able to connect my phone to PC and it is being read as phone storage, the issue is that, phone will be read as CD on windows XP, i tried to connect it to windows 7 and everything is fine!
Thanks again!
do you not get no notification when you plug in your phone?
I get a notification, one is usb debugging and the other is usb network connection type. Base on what I experienced you really can't access phone memory / storage on xp. But in windows 7 everything works fine.

Install latest Windows media player, even if you already have it. It'll install mtp drivers and fix that issue
