[Q] [problem] cannot connect my phone via MTP - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

i have an xperia U phone and recently the phone won't connect to the computer when it's ON (the phone)
(1) in the device manager shows that there is an MTP device connected and in my computer shows a hidden removable disk
when i tried to uninstall and then reinstall the driver it took a minute and then it installed correctly but it was the same as (1) above
although the phone shows that it's charging.
but it works well when i mount it in CWM , so i really don't want to flash again or do wipes i want to know where the problem is &
Fix it,
another question
why isn't there a mass storage like in the CWM when the phone is on??
and does wiping \system do any thing wrong?? i mean before restoring a backup??

Which os are u using on ur pc.. make sure u have proper drivers... windows 8 cant detect my phone in mtp..
Also cwm has a mount usb option
Format system in cwm will wipe ur system folder.. be careful
U will enter a bootloop then

i am using a windows 7 64-bit and it was working before but when i was testing some costume kernals it suddenly happened
but i tried to revert back to before i test the krnals using backup & restore and the same problem persists .
and when i asked about the cwm i meant that why isn't that future (mount usb storage) working outside cwm i mean when the phone is working
normally.

Did you remember to turn on USB debugging ?
Hit thanks if I helped !
I tried already, the usb debbuging is detected but the sdcard and internal was not detected.
I'm not sure but maybe your device doesn't use UMS( usb mass storage protocol) anymore, instead it uses MTP( media transfer protocol) and it doesn't work all the time, try and see what pc companion says

I already solved the problem, i flashed the GB stock firmware then go to device manager and update both internal and sdcard drivers. Then I flashed the ICS stock firmware and it works.

[Q] Connect mass storage via CWM recovery

I've recently flashed my phone with Nemesis kernel using Flashtool, and installed "MoonBreaker 3.5". Unfortunately it is horribly, horribly broken so I have tried to do a full wipe and reinstall. This also failed to work, and somehow wiped my internal storage, so now I have no kernels or roms available on this phone.
The phone boots, but the market doesn't work, downloads app doesn't work, there is no file explorer and no network connection. The phone will not mount as usb storage when booted, or when in CWM recovery. When booted it gives me an "MTP USB Device - Failed" message after attempting to install drivers (win7 and winxp). When in CWM it does nothing at all.
Therefore my question is, how on earth do I get files onto my phone now?

What model of phone do you have? I had the same problem with the Sola (I insanely forgot copy .zip on sdcard before flashing bootloader) and i solved copying the archive on external SD then with CWM selecting Install zip from external sd. Of course this method is not valid if you have Xperia U. In this case or in another case where you haven't any external SD slot try reading this guide.
I have an Xperia P, sorry the forum denied my edit for some reason. Thanks for your ideas!
I've had some success booting into fastboot then, while it's connected, switching to flash mode. Stock kernel reinstalled! Thanks for your help!!

[Q] "Usb connected" vanished

Hii devs
These days I can't get my phone connected to my pc neither mounting my sdcard. I tried that even through my recovery, in vain ( I've got TWRP Recovery & root).
I got alcatel x'pop 5035d. I tried a fresh install with One touch upgrade, a backup with flashtools. Can't recognize my phone ( ps: I got all drivers installed and fine since I tried that before. )
Then i'm stuck with the annoying unkown device from windows, unable to mount my sdcard, and even a factory reset didn't change a fact.
I hope you can help me to figure either is a hardware or a software problem, and help me get through this problem.
Thanks
You can't mount your SD card on your phone? Did you try formatting it?

U can use a USB OTG or SD with the stock rom or u can push the zip via adb and flash via recovery.

Whats the error ? adb will work with adb sideload! Try blu spark's TWRP! @IchBinNoob
Just put a rom in an SD card and put it in your phone. flash it then

borrow it from someone for abit. sd card is easy to come by. cause if you can't do adb, there's really no other way to flash your rom in then via otg or sd.

omg, are you serious.. you can use an adapter. If they don't have an adapter, just put the sd card into some other phone, and connect that other phone via usb to your pc and transfer the rom

So... I don't even know, if I use ADB right. I use it in this way:
I boot into recovery - Open ADB on Computer - Plug my phone into the computer - Tap in the recovery ADB sideload - Its loading, loading... While its loading I check, if my ADB on my computer finds my phone (adb devices), it don't find it - my phone displays after a few minutes a red error (just one word, error)
So, am I doing right? Please correct me, if I doing sth wrong. Thanks
If you have TWRP then you should be able to connect your phone to PC via usb and transfer data on internal storage via MTP.
Hey,
All u need is a little work, firstly I would recommend you to buy 1 sdcard as it's so cheap and easy to get rather than borrowing it from friend, as u may need it again sooner or later.
Second, after u plug in usb cable to pc, please check whether your pc has installed right adb driver for your device or it wont work for adb sideload command.
Third, ensure you have the right rom for your device, I assume you have it downloaded into your pc. Just open the adb terminal and type adb sideload filename.zip . and it will automatically start installation process.
Dont forget to make a full nandroid backup at least once and save it in Sdcard or cloud storage for emergency case like one you're facing now.
Good luck buddy [emoji1]

Hey, I am not a noob, but I too accidentally deleted my internal memory of samsung SM-N750. I am quite experienced in using odin and flashing kernels etc. But I am stupidly impatient. Today I performed a nandroid backup, then went ahead and wiped off ALL DATA except sd card! It was cuz of lack of awareness and shortage of time. I am preparing for my college exams, suddenly xposed framework caused repeated bootloops, so I decided to perform a proper rom installation, root and xposed right from scratch.
Anyways, I easily installed the lollipop rom via odin, rooted it and everything's peachy.
Is there any way of recovering that nandroid backup zip file, which was on the internal storage? In short, Does twrp perform a full wipe or quick wipe of storage?
I tried using an app "undeleter" but it didn't find any such (around 4gb) zip file in the internal storage. Any other android or windows based apps?
I don't stand to lose too much, just that I would have to install all apps and settings etc which will waste a lot of time.
@arya809
I believe that big files are harder to recover. There's an app called DiskDigger but to recover .zip files you need the pro version which is paid and it can't guarantee that you will recover your file. I do not know any other app that might help you (there are many apps for windows but I can't recommend a particular one since I haven't used any).
If you didn't lost important data I will recommend to install them manually. You can use your PC and install the desired apps directly from http://play.google.com/ (it might be slightly faster to find and install them).
Boot up the recovery, plug it into your computer, your device should show up in the file manager, copy the ROM to the device, and then flash it

There is a device called card reader(some wizard from hogwarts invented it) which will help you to copy data to sd card from your computer
And did you tried mount option in twrp???
In twrp first click mount internal storage the connect it with usb cable it will show storage on your device then copy the rom to it.
Sorry for bad english

USB file transfer not working...

Hey,
if i connect my phone with my PC, i can normaly see all files,...
But if i want to copy a file from my computer to my phone (internal or external sdcard) its stock at 0%. (in system and twrp)
After a while (2-4minutes) windows says, that was an error with the transfer. After these message, the phone reboot (twrp)
I tried to reinstall the right usb drivers, tried sideload and adb push but.
i googled the problem, but i cant find something like this.
sideload says something with "cant read comand"
and push says its done (800mb file after 10sec :/ ) but there is nothing on the device.
I dont know what the problem is. the phone is from 2012 but EVERYTHING else is working fine.
sorry for my english

Did you tried with another computer ?
And if you really can't fix your problem you can also use micro sd card to transfer file.
