I have root, but I think it has to do with me uninstalling lookout, how do I get it back because I tried to install it, make it a system app again, but it still won't do the OTA update, help anyone? Thanks.
EDIT: I love you LG, you always have a solution for everything. I used the LG Mobile Support Tool to upgrade my firmware and it worked! Thanks LG for making such well made applications, much better than Samsung -_-

I rooted my tablet S and used the AiO tool to install ICS, did this a a few months ago.
One thing that doesn't work is I can't buy anything on the Play market, I get an error message. In addition for some reason I can't upgrade to the recent ICS r1a upate.
I thought I'd update using the official update. Hopefully getting back a working Play market again. I kniow I'll lose root but can then follow the recent root instructions for ICS.
So before doing anything, I assume I need to turn on OTA notification using AiO first, is that all I need to do? Should I look out for anything. Any advice much appreciated.
Try this..

Seeing as you have root, use something like Titanium Backup if the normal App browser cant help you.. try clearing the cache data and wiping your Play stores data as well as some of the other google services.. then if prompted it should permit you to download apps.. u can also use the AiO tool to hack your play store so u can install other apps
best of luck
but if you are set on reflashing your Tab, reactivation the notifications should do the trick, im not too sure bout regaining root after that though

Followed this method, but first changed region to US and got the most recent ICS update. Then ran the automatic ICS root method and worked first time, got root back :good: was very easy
For some reason lost the Play market app, so ran the modded market option from the AiO tool and got it back. Not tried to buy anything yet.

The R5? It is pretty awesome. Better than R1A's worth the region change for me

Yes now on r5, looks pretty good:good:
Still got a problem with the play store, can't buy anything. Tried clearing data etc makes no difference. Notice I'm still on v3.5.19 so tried to install latest apk but that fails get a message that says 'Application not installed. An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed'.
So wonder if this problem is related to not being able to buy from the store.
Any ideas how to get round this, wondered whether I need to restore tablet to factory settings a try again

Have you tried AIO to installed moded play store?
I installed the modded store when I initially rooted the tablet and think that was the start of the problem. Then ever since I've not been able to buy from the store using the app.
So I've tried to update it to the latest version but without success. Get an error message every time.
Hi... My brother owns the P765. Today morning he got a notification of an ota update which he happily clicked. But now the phone doesn't boot up. Gets stuck on the lg logo. Is there a solution for this?
I personally own a Samsung so I have no idea what to do on an LG phone.
Just for info he was on stock non rooted... Out of the box software.
Would appreciate any help...
Thank you...

You have 2 options:
Factory reset: http://www.resettoo.com/hard-reset-lg-optimus-l9-p769-to-restore-factory-settings
(Warning, you will loose date)
If that does not work, reflash 10G KDZ: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
Install OTA RootKeeper by Voodoo and use it to backup root
Now re-download the update:
1.) Force stop Google Service Framework in Apps under Settings.
2.) Clear data on Google Services Framework.
3.) Check for Update in About phone under Settings.
Repeat this a few times and the update should start downloading.
After this you will run OTA RootKeeper by Voodoo and restore root.
Download and install BusyBox by Stephen (Stericson) and re-install.
Now reboot.
(Warning, you will loose data)

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
My brother doesn't want root.
So both methods will eventually lose the data..? Any way to preserve the data?

I read that just flashing the KDZ should preserve data. Don't quote me on that.
Ok... So I tried Hard Reset. It got reset... But it is still stuck on the LG logo on reboot. Then I tried the Offline KDZ method. I got everything right until I start the upgrade. The Update Tool wont recognize the connected device. I have the United drivers installed, and the http running. What am I missing?
Ok... I went to the LG Service Center.
After 15-20 minutes they said "the software failed to load... Need to replace the motherboard".
What is the point of OTA updates, if they screw the MB (can it?). Good thing the phone was in warranty.

I apologize in advance if this has been answered or if I have inadvertently offended. I did watch the video and have developed OSes for 30 years. I also have searched all over this site and the web for resolution and am making no progress, so I'm asking the 'oracle'
Got an ATT S4 (I337) a week ago - it was running UCUAMDL. I rooted it using Motochopper and was happily using Titanium Pro etc. I get notified of OTA update. OTA update downloads (357MB) yet fails during install at 30% consistsently.
I figure it is unhappy with my root - I unrooted and cannot remember which way I did it - I seem to recall SuperSU I was using did not have the built-in 'unroot' support so I grabbed the stock image and used ODIN to flash it.I also may have manually uninstalled the 'normal' way the SU app - I suspect this may be my real problem.
After flashing stock ROM for UCUAMDL phone was no longer rooted, did not say custom etc, and took the OTA upgrade just fine. This was for UCUAMF3 which did add App 2 SD support - BTW this update used another 1G of storage compared to UCUAMDL, and I could not recover the 1G by moving apps either, making it virtually worthless as far as adding support for apps in SD, lol.
The problem is now I cannot seem to get the device rooted again. Motochopper fails when installing su.apk. I suspect I have screwed the pooch - what do I need to do to get this thing rooted again?
Is it typical for an OTA update to fail 'because' the device is rooted?
Any advice is much appreciated.

I do believe it's because of the latest OTA update. I know the OTA for Verizon patched our bootloader hack that we previously had and I think the same may have happened for AT&T. You might want to check through the AT&T forums section as you have an AT&T S4 and this is the Verizon section. Hope you find what your looking for!

I'd begin with posting in the forum applicable to your device. That being said, in about sure at&t's update was on par with ours

Okay so I have had the Samsung intercept HTC one v and now the lg optimus l9. I rooted my intercept but never did anything with the root other than use WiFi tethering. Didn't root my HTC cuz the process required a computer and was going to be complicated. Now I've rooted my lg through lgpwn using the back up app I also made a back up of my phone before I rooted. Now I'm rooted and have played with a few simple things(fonts greenify uninstalling system apps) but haven't done any custom ROMs. I also made a newbie mistake and changed my boot animation withought backing up. Then today T-Mobile informed me of an update to latest lg software. I tried the update and got the dead android screen so I took battery out and restarted it now its working fine. So now my question is since it was rooted by restoring from a backup will it unroot if I install my present root system back up? I deleted a few system apps some are backed up with titanium back up but most are not. They all were market apps that came preinstalled. Will they be restored if this restore method works? And if that method won't work what would be the easiest way to restore the boot animation and update to latest software. Most of the talk about ROMs is way over my head so I need an opinion on the best option. Thanks
Can nobody help me?

Hello seth,
If your L9 is rooted, then no any native LG backup app can remove root. If you have backed up your data with titanium backup then it only can restore system app, it also can't remove root. If you want to get back to stock, then you will have to download kdz of stock rom and flash it using lg flash tool. For help and tutorials search general thread section of L9 over xda.
Good luck buddy

I successfully rooted my LG L70 with towelroot, but I have a problem now. I can't update the software on my phone from ms32310b to ms32310c. It downloads, reboots and appears to install and says system is up to date, but it's still at ms32310b and a couple days later says I need to download the update again. Will it not update because my phone is rooted now with towelroot? Does anyone know how I can maybe force the update so I can stop getting these update notifications? Thank you!
I seem to have this same problem but my phone is the ls740

I guess we have to use lg flash tool to manually flash the KDZ update file, but I'm not sure if updating will unroot the device since the new version in my case doesn't support root.
well on my phone i have CWM so i could probably find a zip to flash

This is absolutely correct. I rooted my LGMS323 with Towelroot (which worked beautifully I might add) but weeks later made the terrible oversight of approving an OTA update without thinking which nuked the root. I've been stuck ever since. Once you update to MS32310c there is NO EASY WAY of rooting your device (as of yet). The only way to reroot is to start over and downgrade from (c) back to (b) or (a) by flashing the KDZ as you mentioned. Because I'm without a machine at the moment and unable to do this I'm TRULY stuck. Don't be me! Stick with what you've got!

Thank you! I probably will. Unless of course they come out with a stable Lollipop rom, then I might be tempted to install Clockworkmod and check it out.
