I recently updated my phone from 2.3.3 to Cyanogenmod 7.1 I believe and went to overclock the phone, Unfortunately, I overclocked it too much and now it is stuck in an endless loop on the boot screen..
Phone is obviously a Galaxy Ace, Network carrier is Vodafone UK.
I have been trying for the last two hours to look for answer's on how to fix this and I haven't found anything, So I thought the best idea was to come to here.. Any help would be appreciated, I have also tried to install other ROM's on to the phone to correct it but it look's like the CPU is still at the overclocked setting and because of that, Won't boot up.
thanks.
Dan.
go to recovery and wipe data+cache and try to boot..
if still no luck --> ODIN

I tried wiping everything before but will give ODIN a try. Thank you. I really like the phone and am trying my best to get it working again. lol
So, I downloaded ODIN and I have absolutely no idea what I am doing.. I don't want to risk breaking the phone anymore.. The only tut on how to use ODIN is for the Galaxy 3..
I have never done anything like this before so it's all new to me.. :/
Ok, I used ODIN and I have the original ROM that came with the phone, But still in an endless loop on the Samsung boot screen.. :/ I am totally stuck now.. I have tried all I know to get it to work
I managed to sort the problem, the "One Package" on ODIN didn't work, Luckily I had the 4 seperate files needed on my laptop, So all is workign now.

Excellent work having a backup on your laptop. First thing now do a full backup on your phone before you think about further experiment. If overclocking make sure "set at boot" is not ticked. Finally read up a little on xda before you do anything - a good place to start is "Tutorial" on top of dev section and the "q & a " thread here.
I hope this works for You.
You've a one packege STOCK Rom?
so open ODIN 4.38
Untick Reset Time
Choose your one package file.
choose OPS; attatched here.
press start.
to sum up: you have this ticked only:One package, auto reboot, protect OPS
if doesnot work go to recovery and try factory reset& cache wipe.
if doesnot work, try flshing CWM and install any backed up rom, if you want one. just PM and i will upload backed up stock rom.
I really hope it helps because I got the same issue after flshing a stock from ODIN, but been removed from wipe data& factory reset.

Hi Guys,
Sorry to bother you with this, but I'm out of ideas...
I decided to root my i9100 using this guide9.
As I was doing this, the recovery rom would reboot when using the volume buttons to navigate (only on the first "page") - This was easily worked around by using the touchscreen, but now I'm wondering if this was the start of my issues...
I applied the SU busy box installer, and got root. I installed rom manager, and noticed that it seemed to lock up when doing certain things. I put this down to CWM saying there was no official mod for the i9100.
The next day I decided to try and install a CM10.1 nightly, so I took a backup, wiped cache and data, and applied the rom and gapps.
When I rebooted, the phone wouldn't finished booting, it just sat at the initial logo screen.
After that, I tried following this recovery guide but the odin flash failed at around 80% (I retried and the same happened again).
Since then I've had difficulty getting in to recovery mode. I've tried flashing various stock roms with odin, and trying to restore with Kies.
In Kies I get as far as it conencting to the phone in download mode, but it pops up a "notice" in a foreign language - presumably Korean (and I can't copy the text to even attempt a google translation).
I tried flashing Siyah-s2-v5.0.1 to get a different recovery - that seemed to have a garbled progress bar, before hanging when I tried to wipe /data again.
When I use odin to flash a stock rom - is it supposed to restore absolutely everything? I'm not sure how I'm still getting problems if this is the case. Any ideas on what to try next?
(The current stock rom I'm try ing to use is this one)
Let me know if I'm missing any info, and thanks in advance for any help.
Using rom manager would have been the start of your problems-not the temp cwm recovery in the rooting guide.
If you can boot into download mode then I would download LP7 stock rom, disable kies and flash that with Odin.
{go back to your iphone since you are an android noob}
Thanks for the reply.
Rom manager didn't work properly for me, so I stopped using it. I used the temp cwm recovery to install the CM nightly.
I can boot in to download mode, but I've already tried an LP7 rom, - as with the others, it doesn't boot.
Any ideas on how to tell why it isn't booting? logcat doesn't seem to want to to work. Not sure if it's broken / too early in the boot process / etc

I9100 right?
Try this:
- Download this ROM.
- Kies installed? uninstall it, re install it. Close it all up with Task manager (3 or 4 applications running).
- Flash ROM via Odin (CSC, MODEM, PHONE).
- If that doesn't fly, try another usb port & usb cable. Another PC would also be recommended.
- Repeat the process.
- Still no luck? try flashing a previous siyah version.
- No go? repeat all the above.
- Let us know how you did.

For some reason, I can't get Odin to flash that rom - it just hands for a while at the start of data.img, before saying "Complete(Write) operation failed."
There a .pit file in the archive, although the link says not to repartition (so I didn't).
Some roms seem to get written, some don't, I'm not sure why...

Odin failed about 80% through flashing (step 4, after taking the ICS steps). I tried flashing the kernel afterwards, which flashed, but didn't help with my boot issues.

Of course, I was just trying to get a better understanding of how things work - I'd settle for anything booting right now.
I was meaning how far did you go with his guide. He says (near the end) to flash a bootloader/kernel/rom.
You can try everything in his guide, but understand about the risks involved with pit and bootloaders.

He's right.
Keep trying, consider pit files & bootloaders as a last resort.
Tried everything?
Used another usb cable for the flash? tried in another PC? tried in a laptop?
Are you sure kies is all shut down?
I've read about so many people having the same issue than you, they keep on flashing as in trial & error and most times they come out winners.

I guess I'll keep at it then.
I'd tried another cable with kies shut down. Just tried a different machine, and flashed the ROM you suggested with heimdall. It flashed without complaining (unlike odin), but I'm still getting a boot loop.
Looking at the initial recovery guide I was following - I suspect that I might've flashed the bootloader (the guide shows in bold which file goes in which box, so I probably loaded them all). Maybe this is the source of my troubles...
I also noticed that heimdall can pull data from the phone too - if I can pull and mount these, am I likely to find any useful log files?
For completeness (and anyone else who finds themselves with the same issue): It seems I hit the EMMC brick bug, which rendered some of my EMMC storage unusable.
This helpful chap came up with a workaround to partition around the dead space. (Please read the post carefully and make sure this really is your problem before flashing!)
That method will let you know what part of your memory is corrupted. It's done via recovery as far as I remember.

Yes, that's right. IIRC, I flashed a working recovery with Odin, then did most of the work from adb shell.
I got my device back to life for the most part. I get the occasional hang but haven't investigated much (have since bought a Nexus 4, so not using the S2 so much).

If you are on stock 2.3.4 and tried to flash that kernel .. that is why it failed .. it would be the wrong kernel for that rom. Did you flash a stock rom in recovery? If so then I would suggest using oden to return to stock . then see what you end up with.

Are we talking about Software ou Hardare issue in your opinion?
Cheers
Could be a hardware issue. Try this ... Put the phone into download mode then connect to the pc. Use the cable that came with the phone. Also use a port on the back of the pc ..not a hub. Then open kies and do the emergency firmware update.
Also ... When you used Odin to go to stock ..you installed the 3e recovery ..that's why it failed to flash. Which is a good thing. That kennel would have boot looped you.

Definitely not a hardware issue, there where some changes made IIRC in the kernel driver files, once flashed they prevented the homerow buttons from working normally, the only way I ever found to make them work right was to flash the Flappjaxxx alternate kernel series, let it boot, then return completely to stock!
If you dig around, FJ's alt kernel's are around here somewhere!

My work schedule is absolute hell, and due to people flaking at work I have been called in 2x to cover on my only days off...
Needless to say, im about to pass out, so im going to make this useless post...
Either I, or someone else can link you to a FJ rom, and the FJ alternate kernel that match, what you will need to do prior is make sure you have EVERYTHING you want/need, backed up to GMail (in the case of Phone logs, SMS and MMS with the Backup to GMail app, yes, im whoring this fantastic app out) AND to your computer, NO not your SD card, but your computer!
Make sure you have the latest recovery (TWRP 2.5.0.0 is what I have, but whatever TWRP is latest will do), wipe everything, then install the rom, boot, wait 10min, reboot into recovery, flash the alt kernel, boot, wait 10min, then test the home/back/menu/search key row, they should work, at this point, you CAN go back to the 2.x.x rom you where running, but if you have an i717, I have had nothing but love for the Stock rom update on AT&T once I performed a complete ODIN to it (flashing the ones here on the forum's resulted in random reboots here and there, and while less then ever before, still annoying, after an ODIN however, havent had a random reboot yet!).

Yikes. As far as getting your data back on a non-stock rom...that eliminates possibility of flashing with Odin...
After prowling around a little bit I saw this guide... it claims that some GSII boot problems are due to kernels. Try flashing a stock (or older CM) kernel. http://chaladi.me/2012/11/30/solved...otingstuck-galaxy-s2variants-kernel-problems/
Other than that, this one "might" wipe data but try re-flashing CM thru Odin? If not then try flashing back to stock ROM through Odin, make sure not to check wipe data, but by doing that you'll definitely get bootloop. Hopefully you get enough time window to use adb.
Good luck,

'Yikes. As far as getting your data back on a non-stock rom...that eliminates possibility of flashing with Odin'.
No, it does not.
OP - The only way you're fixing this is flashing a stock rom with Odin. If this is successful, you wont lose any data. If you're having problems with the flash, find Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread stickied in General & try as much of the stuff in the thread as many times as you need to in order to get a successful flash. Do not try two or three things from the thread, come back here & say 'It won't work blah blah blah blah'; that thread is the Bible in these situations, there's nothing which isn't in the thread that can be suggested in these situations. So, you now have the tools to fix your phone.
Now, having said that, sometimes in these situations only a factory reset after the flash will fix it.
You're just going to have to try it & see what happens/hope the flash fixes it.

You mean those files you want to recover are all in the internal SD(like photos, music, videos etc,)?If so,just flash a stock rom as others suggested, this won't wipe the internal SD.Unless,in an extreme case, you'll have to rePIT.
Please help me i manually updated my s2 into a jellybean 4.1.3. The problem is that when i was listening to my music and tried to change tracks.. the screen is just black but the music keeps playing. even when i unplugged the earphone and plugged it back in the music kept playing. then i removed the battery and start it it's just stuck in the welcome screen. i tried to put it in recovery mode but it doesnt work. i tried to wait it out for almost 30 mins to reboot but it's just looping.. now it wont start. im still charging it and the welcome screen just pops out of nowhere, what am i supposed to do??? how do i fix my phone?
If you've got no recovery you don't really have any other option but to flash stock in download mode with Odin. Get a stock rom from Samfirmware, boot into download mode, flash with Odin (How ? Thread stickied near top of Q&A titled 'Flash stock firmware' has instructions). Problems with Odin flash ? Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread stickied in General has all the info you need to get a successful flash.
You won't lose any data simply flashing stock, but be aware this may not fix the issue on its own & you may need to do a factory reset after the flash to fix it (may still bootloop after flash) - you will obviously lose data if you need to do this.
Also think its worth a try to boot int CWM recovery if you have it installed or any other recovery and do an factory reset, but like the post before me, i suggest to install a new rom 4.1.2 becaus it looks like the one you were on had corupted files. Try and see, google for info, we are here for you =)

well thats def. the soft then. You still could manualy try to replace system apps with root acces and programs but there coud be more things broken that you wont record on first sight, rly would recomend to install new firmware with Odin, then you would see further what to do, if your problem is solved:fingers-crossed: wish you luck

i did flash a new CWM. and wiped everything. thats what i've been trying to do... flash a new rom but odin cant detect my phone when in DL mode but when my phone is on odin can detect it. i've tried every possible remedy that i've read here in xda and in other forums and still nothing
ok but you know there are roms that you can install from CWM/twrp directly =D? I would prefer twrp becaus of my lack of volume buttons, but on cwm you can go to mount and select usb storrage or somethink like that and upload your CWM rom on it, and then do again f.reset, wipe system and data in advanced and install zip from sd card think, in cwm recovery. Then you have your new rom on it. And after that you can solve your usb conction problem, mabe some drivers are missing so you could reinstall it, but i newer had that problem on my win7, the basic drivers that it auto downloads are working for me

this one is neat rom custom 4.1.2 its tweaked with advanced functions and... well there is lot to read but its an rly nice one, if you need stock go for google or search on xda for cwm compatible gs2 4.1.2 rom or gs2 4.1.2 rom for cwm

i tried it last night. flashing via sd card still nothing. E: signature verification failed is showing. and i tried everything you said too. still nothing. i follwed every step that other people told me. :'( still nothing is happening
I had a problem when my Samsung Drivers recently updated themselves.
I had to uninstall my SGS2 as a device then download some older drivers which I found on here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/usb-drivers-samsung-usb-drivers-mobile-t1655286
The Mirror link in post #1 not the main one.
After that my PC could start talking to my phone again.
you will receive "signature verification failed " when the file you are trying to flash is not flashable. maybe it was a bad download. if you want to try the same rom again. download the file from the thread again else try some other rom.
if you have reached till recovery then it shouldnt stop you from flashing a rom/kernel.

i flashed ICS via recovery and it's working now but the camera (front and back) and earphone jack is still not working.. maybe it's the hardware itself.. im going to a samsung service center in a couple of days. thanks bro that really helped me discover a new way to flash a rom via recovery!

Hi! so i did flashed my phone and everything is done correctly.. still the cam and earphone jack didnt work so i went to samsung smartcare center and the told me that i have to pull it out coz the issue of my phone is a board problem... is there anyway to fix that? im from the philippines btw... i remembered that when i went to the gym that's when it all started. When i disassembled my phone there are white smudges around the cam and earphone jack area it was kinda hard and it looked like a dry liquid so maybe i thought that caused to make a short circuit (is that correct?) that's what i thought what happened to mess the cam and earphone jack.. is there a way to fix the board? i cant let my phone go to waste it has a sentimental value.
Corrosion/damage to the motherboard = motherboard replacement. Replacing individual components would cost you at least twice (and more) as much as a new board if it was possible (and it's not), and almost nobody would attempt it for that reason, let alone the size of the components on the board/how fiddly it would be.
Chances are you've got multiple components failing.
So, Samsung service centre does not suck, your post is wrong & they are telling you the truth.
