Hi,
I have an I9300 (with official untouched 4.1.2 firmware) still under warranty.
When I bring up the contact list, the picture/thumbnail is missing besides the contact name.
Samsung got me to do factory resets etc (didn't work) so the phone was sent for repair and returned with the same problem.
Now Samsung are telling me that some S3 models don't have the thumbnail next to the contacts name in the contact list.
All other S3's I've looked at have the thumbnail feature.
Is it normal for some not to display the thumbnail?

Hello,
I have a LG Optimus One, when I receive a call or message the contact name can't show it only show the number, off course contact available at the contact list. (The contact list I sync from Gmail contact)
I don't know the problem is my phone or firmware? How can I fix it?
Pls help me.
I had similar problem - it shows wrong contact name and picture becouse it takes contacts from SIM card. Try backup contacts, remove all from SIM and copy contact directly into phone (using for ex. MyPhoneExplorer). Then restart phone.
It strange, but I didn't find another way. Also try enable/disable contact viewing optipons in menu. There is many options and after some time it started works fine on my OO, but I'm not sure what I done directly. Anyway these steps helped me.
Hi. I tried several rom including MIUI and Official after ICS Official were released.
The problem is
I usually save my close people contact number in international form
e.g. +61412345678 and +6628888888 so when I am abroad on travelling or business trip, i can text them back easily.
However, with ICS, when I call these contacts for example 028888888 from (contact saved as +6628888888), the phone won't recognize the contact name. The same problem exists when they call me.
Is there any fix on this?
No such problem in GB for me.
Known issue in Miui V4 for contacts which have a country code in the saved phone number. No idea about stock ICS.
Hi all,
a few day ago,I update my phone via Kies to ICS 4.0.3 (T-Mobile Germany) and after that, every time I get a new SMS from someone on my contact list, it only shows the number of the person and not the name on the SMS list. The problem is that the all contacts are saved as xxxxxxxxx , and when I go in my contact list, number are saved just like that but shows in xxx xxxxxx, with space between and after three number, number of area codes. One of the solutions is to change contact, first edit number and put space after first three, and save, but it is a hard work.
Does anyone else been experiencing this and is there any way to fix it? Can't really see why the update caused this, just seems weird, and hope there is a way around it or just wait for a new update? I also hope that someone will find a solution to format and fix contacts!

I'm facing the exact same issue on the stock ICS on Galaxy note , build IML74K.DDLP8 .
Contact names do not show up in the call log/message log.
I have Whatsapp installed and have ~250 contacts synced with Google contacts.

4.1.2
Stock Firmware JZO54K.I9300XXEMC2
After resetting and starting from scratch, I have loaded my contacts with my Gmail contacts.
Many of the contacts have multiple numbers : home, work, mobile
In the Phone app, using keypad I noticed, when your contact has more than one phone number, it does not show all its numbers, just the first one or the one marked as default.
I find this annoying.
I hope there is a person in this forum that uses the stock dialer....and can tell me if there is a way I can use keypad and be given a choice of all numbers that a contact has?
Hi all,
I just jumped ship away from Samsung as I was fed up that no phone had a spare battery any more apart from the LG flagship, so I went ahead and bought it yesterday.
I love most things on it, but have discovered something that is shocking me.
I don't appear to be able to create contacts in my Exchange account!! This is almost a dealbreaker!
So here is what I did: I merely added the Exchange account to the phone (as I would have done with Samsung). All fine here. I got the contacts to sync to the phone. But when I create a NEW contact (or edit an existing Exchange one, for that matter) I have no option to select the Exchange account. I can only see "SIM", "PHONE" or "Google" as options. With Samsung I would have had the additional option of "Exchange Activesync".
Attempting to edit a contact who was synced with Exchange brings the error message "Not Editable from this application" - Is that serious? If this were my work phone, I would expect to be able to ADD contacts to an Exchange account!!
Does anyone know of any workaround? Are there other Phone / Contact apps that can replace the stock ones? I am very disappointed in LG right now! Does it even mean I might have to even go ahead and root the phone?? I've always shied away from doing that...
Samsung had a dealbreaker with their batteries and now LG with their phone apps???!!! Pfffff!
Any help at all would be appreciated!
Phil
Seems I can reply to my own question. So here is the answer if anyone else ever gets stuck.
Don't use the account called "Exchange" which looks like the Gmail red and white logo. Instead use the one named "Microsoft Exchange" (blue and white logo). This WILL be allowed to be used when creating contacts. Excellent. No need to throw away my LG quite yet. Phew.
