[Q] Does anyone have an Android ROM for Nokia Lumia? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm wondering if there are Android ROMs for Lumia hardware. Nokia's hardware is cheap and good - it would be nice to run Android on it.
Anyone know any other hackers from Nokia that are running it on their personal phones.

i think ROM isnt right. You need a whole OS with kernel i dont know what else.
i'm not a dev, but i think thats pretty impossible....maybe if you have all the sources and driver and a big team... something like microsoft
and nokia isnt relly cheap although

no, it's impossible. lumia supports only windows phone and so far nobody found solution how to install android on those devices. if u had nokia n900 then this wouldn't be a problem but you can't do anything with lumia );

Not possible in current situation.
Though I have been hearing rumors that Nokia was supposedly developing Android ROMs for their Lumia series which was under very secret testing. If you have any of those top secret devices then maybe......

Actually that's because Nokia can unlock the bootloader and sideload any OS onto it.
@ OP: If you find a way to unlock the qualcomm bootloader, you can install Android onto it, however, that doesn't seem possible at the moment

E7 and Android
I would love it but I'm afraid it will never happen. NOPE! in our entire lifetime. Nokia Decision....so .stupid isn't it!....They Know they could sell the best phone ever made to millions by doing Nokia E7 with Android and beat the iPhone 4 once and for all, but they won't do it! Nokia with Window Phone7 for the future? another bad move you'll see...NOKIA was great long time ago, I had E65 a Fantastic phone in 2007 . Now NOKIA = LOOSER!!!
AGREED. damn shame.

thanks in advance
Can it be done?
I found this article on MobilityFeeds:
"09 JANUARY 2012
Nokia devices on Symbian^3 can now be hacked to run any OS of your choice
The full sourcecode for Symbian^3 has been released, unofficially, together with the bootloader for Nokia devices running the Operating System (OS), opening the door to other platforms being installed on the company’s phones.
The source, shared at DailyMobile, means that enterprising hackers could eventually install Google's Android, Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 or other platforms onto Nokia hardware.
Unfortunately, that sort of mod is going to take more than just access to the bootloader information.
In fact, it will take a fair amount of code tweaking and modification, certainly if all the various hardware elements of Symbian devices are to be enabled for a different platform.
Whether there is anybody left with the time, patience and skillset to do that – and, most importantly, for Symbian devices – remains to be seen.
Still, as we said repeatedly during reviews of the Nokia E7, N8 and other phones from Nokia over the past eighteen months or so, the company makes beautiful hardware and we’d love to see Android or another platform running on it.
Heck, we’d even take MeeGo if it were offered.
Nokia is yet to unveil a hardware-QWERTY Windows Phone, so Microsoft’s platform on the sturdy E7 would be something many would covet."
Ill keep my fingers crossed that q developer likes the E7. N gets Android on it!!!!

Really hope this will work soon. The phone is amazing. Hardware wise. But oh oh oh Symbian.
So fingers crossed.
the n9 has andriod
N9 got Ported to it. SO I really hope e7 gets some love from xda
Omg that's amazing and it's running very smooth.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOSdKi97fi8
this is the best hardware phone there is...but i think that lack of ram gonna screw up android if he gets ported...symbian is simple, but outdated...just imagine : nokia e7 with ICS...and Nokia would be Queen again
Nokia E7 Has only 256 MB of Ram
It's not enough to Android OS.
That sucks....... however I have moved on to the meizu mx.

I would instantly buy a Nokia E7 just to use Android on it. Don't care if its Gingerbread or whatever. I love the hardware of the E7. No android phone has such a stable diagonal screen. I hate Nokia for that! Windows Phone... who cares about this rubish?!

You are wrong about that. My old GT540 has 158 mb ram and yet ran gingerbread very nicely.

Request- GN2 dual boot Androis & WP8

I can't figure which area to post this- WP8 or Android since it has to do with both of them..
I figure since WP8 supports multiple cores up to 64 cores, and the Note 2 runs Android already, and they have a Samsung WP8 phone...
Maybe someone could come up with a way to have the Galaxy Note 2 dual boot the stock Android ROM, and WP8.
Is anyone working on something like this? That would be Something Else, because I like to look of Android but I also like the connectivity of WP8 with my W8 PC.
Just a thought...

You probably won't find much here on XDA since WP8 is copyrighted by Microsoft and licensed for the devices it comes stock on. The HD2 was the only device to run both since it came with windows mobile and Android was open source so it Legally could run both.
Though I'm sure it would be awesome to have both on the Note II, and may run on it also, I don't think XDA will allow it here. Sorry.

There could be a secret wp8 hacking coalition and have them congregate on the darknet. Lol. Thank you for the reply!

If you really wanted to find out more info, I'd search for Cotulla and his work, you can also find him on IRC, if it can be done, he'd know how to do it.
WP8 is a closed source like iOS. And it cannot be ported to another device.

Well I haven't heard anything about it so far. All we can have right now for our Lumias are custom roms with a few tweaks, however you'll be able to flash those only if you have the qualcomm bootloader, and this is mostly luck based, because it depends on the hardware revision of your specific device. Speaking of Android ports instead I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you...

Well it mostly depends on which particular apps you need...but in terms of games you'll probably be disappointed, don't expect to find stuff like Nova 3 I mean, but if you look for simple puzzle games like Cut the rope you should be ok. The top games will be available soon on WP8 devices tho.

Nope, it will get 7.8 and probably another update in the future (like 7.9 or something). Obviously this OS is much more locked down compared to Android, so you can't fiddle too much with it, like overclocking and stuff like that. However the OS is fully optimized for the hardware, so you don't really need to do anything in order to achieve smoothness and speed: the performance is optimal out of the box, unlike on some older Android devices. I had the GS2 as well before switching to WP, I haven't looked back since then. Trust me, you'll soon realize how great it is to simply USE your phone with no headaches.

yes,i have noticed how polished the os is.. i just read a article about the lumia 800 and a htc windows device. the phone had same specs, but the htc was clocked at 1,5 and the lumia 800 at 1.4 ghz,and the testers said that the htc was just that littlebi faster and smooter. im shour i will be satisfied wih wp 7, even though i have ordered one of the weakes devices in the lumia 800.. but as far as ive seen it, even with an singlecore prossesor the devise is very fast.. gonna go for the 920 later if im satisfied with the 800 what about roms? is it some roms that will acutally benifitt me to install? i dont care to mutch about just minor added settings to the phone. but if its a rom that actually makes the phone faster or something, please let me know. i know everything about android phones like rooting, installing roms, and so on. but i really feel like a bad ass noob at the windows phone platform

Well there are a few cool things you can do with a custom ROM. For example you can sideload third party apps (without using the marketplace), remap your search key, use different search engines, wake the phone with any button, customize the ui and more. However keep in mind that no speed improvements or RAM tweaks whatever are available at the moment. Have look here if you wanna know more, this one of the ROM threads. I'd give it a try for sure but since I did a manual update a while ago I have the Nokia bootloader so I'm stuck here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1665651

[Q] Android?

Is it possible to install Android 4 on Nokia Lumia 920?
Unfortunately not at this point in time, Many users would love to have a dual boot option, Set a bounty to the Dark Forces Team to work on HSPL and if there is enough interest then may be work will begin
Either way it will not be happening for a very long time.
Yes, you just need the boot floppy.
i want Android too.
Not much love in WM8 now.
According to the reviews I read getting HSPL for the WP8 devices is close to impossible. (although that was said about a lot of things) I personally would however not want Android on this awesome device even if someone paid me for it

Buy an Android phone then. Problem solved.
These aren't desktop computers you can just load any OS onto, they are complex embedded devices.
There is a surprising lack of compatibility on ARM processors, so you're better buying the phone with the OS you want to run.

Have to agree, why get a WM8 phone if you want to put Android on it?
HD2 was also a wm6.5 phone, right??
But I don't think there are a lot of HD2 still running wm6.5.
Why people keep porting different OS into it? They can just buy an android device, problem solved, too.
I think there will be more fans if 920 can be ported other OS.

What is "WM8"?
There are more than enough Android phones bro.
You bought the wrong phone if you really want Android
the Lumia 920 is pure Windows Phone, you can fell the power and style it
radiates
There was not a single port of Android to a WP7 phone and almost all of them had HSPL. When looking into HSPL for Nokia though some Devs decided it was to hard to crack - I would guess with Secure Boot this has not gotten easier.
So all in all: it is highly unlikely that you will see an Android port for the Lumia phones or any other WP for that matter. If you don't like WP8 and want an Android device: sell the Lumia and buy an Android - everything else seems likely to just frustrate you to no end.

you dont know anything about WP? Wp system is make to be safe and stable, not as android... bootloader must be unlocked (for now only Lumia's 710, 800 and 900 have unlocked bootloader and unlocked ROM with root access but this is WP7)... and if someone can unlock WP8 bootloader have much greater problem with encrypted Windows NT (because WP8 is based on NT, old WP7 is Win CE).. hacker cottula tried to hack it but not successful for now almost after half year http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1971048

There's plenty of forums courtesy of XDA for Android; there too are plenty of forums for Windows Phones and this is one of them. Some of us use both operating systems, I for one use both, I prefer WP though it does make us in a tiny minority but like old folks we are a loud bunch!
yea I was telling my friend earlier that stock vs stock vs stock I prefer win phone 8 > iPhone 7 beta > android 4.2.2.
its customization and open sourcing that makes tweakers flock to droid, and it is better if you like customizing for hours with rooting and ROMs etc. but win phone 8 is the most secure by far and a better stock os than android. it all comes down to personal preference. I like all 3 but I really wish there was more options with win phone.
