How to get android 4.1 on Streak 5 - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

while searching web i noticed cyanogen mod 10.1 dell streak 5...can any one know how to get that:fingers-crossed:

The link you looked at is lying. We don't have a fully functional ICS port, and until that is done, Jellybean isn't happening.

@sasikanth14 ,
Yup, I agree with Strephon Alkhalikoi. Not fully functioning ICS ROM so far, the camera does not function as no one can figure out (yet) the required lib files.
But if you are still interested to try them ( they are ICS Android v4.0.4 ), you can look in XDA Dell Streak Development Section at, http://forum.xda-developers.com/dell-streak-5/development
Those Custom ROMs are (check out these sites, and you can download from there. Making sure you read everything first before you proceed with flashing them):
1) [ROM] [PORT] [WIP] Unofficial Streak_CM9.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1794155
2) [ROM][PORT][AOKP][AOKPA] Unofficial AOKP-AOKPA ICS for Streak
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859955
3) [ROM][PORT] Paranoid Android
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801329
I have tried them... but frankly, at the moment, I preferred using Gingerbread ROM, like DSC-Traveller, DSC, Longhorn, LXdroid, Mokee, PCM..., just to name a few... which also you could find and download from XDA Dell Streak Development Section.
I'm not an expert, also still fresh here. Those I wrote above are things I understood from seniors here at XDA. Please hit the THANK button if you find my explanation useful...
Dell Streak | InnerSD 8GB | ExternalSD 32GB | Modified Custom ROM

ICS 4.0 still have a long-hard-way to be fully functional..
Don't hope too much with higher version of ICS

[Q] Gingerbread

Hi All,
I'm new to modding my phone and recently flashed it with Cyanogenmod Froyo 2.2.
I want to flash it with Gingerbread but have seen that there are memory leak problems with Cyanogens.. In fact today they ave decided to pull support for the device.
What are my options for getting Gingerbread onto my Hero GSM??
I have seen Elelinux's mod highly spoke of, but it is based on Cyanogen mod (i think). Does it too have the same memory leaks??
Thanks in advance!
Cyanmod have Officially Ceased supporting the HTC HERO as they don't have a DEV supporting the Developement for the HERO
THE LAST Cyanmod for HERO is I Guess version 7.02 and thats it
Elelinux's Gingerbread is Based on the CM7 but He does his own tweaks as well you can always check the thread for what problems people are reporting for the ROM
There is another GIngerbread ROM by 'Cronos' which you could try, but you will have to google for it as I don't think I might get away with posting links here
google for 'cronos project'
I have used elelinux's Roms a lot so like his work but is personal choice and thats what XDA offers it members 'CHOICE'
Don't make assumptions about ROMS .
Try them yourself and stick to the one you like the best
in his latest version (2.0), elelinux included a special patch that has to be flashed separately after flashing the ROM, and on my Hero it reduced the amount of black screens and invisible menus by a great deal. They still show up every now and then, but only when doing memory-intensive stuff. Go check out the thread
Haven't tried Cronos yet, but they also get some good credit I believe.

[Q] dell streak 5 & rom custom

Hi everyone,
is there a stable custom rom ( for example cyanogen ) for Dell streak 5?
bye
Lele
theres no cyanogen rom or Honeycomb for streak 5 till now. as there is only one developer named DJsteve(search for his rom in (android development) till now his roms 1.9 and above are stable .
Now, some new developers are coming up (thanks god ,its better to have more developers rather than only one, then u have choices with different roms, rather than updating samething's in different numbered roms)
djsteve tried to port Gingerbread but is unstable till now, not too unstable - u can try .......................many others are also helping by posting fixes in the thread. (Rom no.rd - 2.00)
Honeycomb is under development- but will take alot time , as some driver problem
please feel free to do experiments with your streak. as many are present to help here.
Regards.
Did you search the forum AT ALL?
NO because english is a bit difficult for me, sorry.
you could also try 'simplestreak', just search for it. is most likely a stock rom but much smoother and lighter.

[Q] What is the most complete and stable custom Rom?

I've had my streak since launch which is pretty much a year now and I've been looking to take the plunge and smack a nice custom ROM on my streak.
Of course I want gingerbread etc but my problem is that there seems to be a distinct lack of Custom ROMs being finished.
It used to be the case on a phone that there would be great stable ROMs with incremental updates to fix little annoyances here and there, but all of these custom ROMs have massive flaws and there's so many of them being pumped out e.g "streakdroid" which is over version 2 now and still has major problems?
Can someone please point me in the direction of a nice stable custom rom?
thanks
there's only two gingerbread roms
i dont know which is most stable as i dont use either

The most stable Gingerbread ROM for the Streak is Streakdroid 2.3. It's still not stable, though, because Dell never released any firmware other than an Alpha release of Kernel code for 2.3. They have since discontinued the device which means there are only a handful of devs left here to finish an entire ROM, not just make it better.
If you want a totally stable release you're going to have to go with a 2.2 ROM, and they still aren't totally stable. Try StreakDroid 1.9.1 or SimpleStreak 1.2 (Not really a custom ROM, more of just a parred down version of stock ROM)
Questions or Problems Should Not Be Posted in the Development Forum
Please Post in the Correct Forums and Read THIS
Moving to Q&A
the most recommended rom is froyo stock
SimpleStreak then install what you want.
Didn't think it was worthy of starting a new thread.
What is the most stable 2.2 or 2.3 ROM right now.
I don't need anything fancy. Just want something that is debloated and quick and stable. Needs to be at least 2.2.
New to Streak 5, just trying to help out my Mom with a phone for her.
Edit, n/m. I broke the Streak due to the stupid battery cover/reboot issue. Bought a Samsung Infuse instead. Will put the Streak on eBay in as-is condition noting what happened.
I've tried just about every custom Rom out there and handsdown DSC is the most stable rom i've used so far, Miui was good but the battery life just killed it for me.
DSC
DSC 1.0v \m/is the most stable among StreakDroid5-2.0 slow in my streak, miui restart often, Longhorn 2.5 FCing.

Dead links to old ROMs,or alternative ROMs suggestions

Hi!
I have recently bought a second hand Vibrant.
Seller had MIUI on it, which I didn't like, for a few reasons.
One was non working GPS.
So, I installed latest stable CM 7 , which I like, BUT, GPS doesn't
work with it too. As I understood, that is common problem with 2.3.3
based ROM and Vibrant.
So I started looking for 2.2 based ROM and faced the problem, that
most links for these are currently dead.
I have succeeded to download Toxic Crazy8 and few versions of bionic,
but my recovery (version 5.0.x.x) refuses to flash them, as they are
in "old format" .
So, long story short, I am still looking for a ROM that will make me happy,
and thus need your help .
My requirements are :
Deodexed ROM, so I can apply the RTL fix on it ( or with built in RTL support).
Working GPS
Good battery life
Not too slow
As new as possible ( may be 2.3.x if all the above apply)
Should include FFC mod support
with working download link .
So, your help, suggestions and advices (and download links) are welcome!
Thank you in advance!
First and for most I suggest the ICS Passion V11 rom ....but if you want to go back to the extremely stable roms among us you will have to flash an older clockwork something that can be done in clockwork mod. Many people suggest Project V it was a great rom, but most would say that you can't go wrong with the bionix roms. Again though ICS Passion V11 (4.0.3 based) is definitely a modern winner though.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
ICS PASSION.
Stable fast GPS works and its 4.0.3
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
If you want the newest, latest and greatest, the two posters above me nailed it. Passion is awesome and fairly stable.
But if you are wanting a 2.2 ROM, fisherman (I think that's his name) is updating Bionix and should have updated links.
ICS Passion
Thanks for all the replies!
Let's say that you've convinced me, and I am going to try the ICS Passion.
Few more questions regarding it though.
As I am totally not familiar with ICS, does it have RTL support?
I recall I have read somewhere it does , out of the box...
Does ICS Passion have support for FFC mod, or , specifically, will
I be able to have video chats on Skype or it's alternatives?
Thank you in advance!
Mulder check your PM box.
If you don't end up liking the ICS, there are these 2.2's that are solid builds and you can flash them with the CWR version in my signature.
Toxic8 (which you tried but with the linked recovery it should work-did for me)
Deranged9
Bionix
Bionix-Fishman redux
Trigger
Bi-winning
2.3's have battery and memory issues, so buyer beware.
Oh, and how good is ICS in terms of battery life?
I get 2 days out of her...

[Q] Dell streak Best Custom Rom?

i have offical gingerbread rom (olleh) in my dell streak i am bored from this rom ... can anyone plz tell me which is the best custom rom for dell streak which have all the things working correctly .... and also plz tell me the procedure how can i move on further to custom rom ... Thanks ... plz help
The best ROM is subjective, but DSC ROM is perhaps the most complete and functional ROM available, being based off the official Gingerbread ROM. I personally use hPA's CyanogenMod 7 with the current Phoenix Kernel. However, on that ROM the WiFi on rare occasions gives out and needs to be reset by putting the Streak into Airplane Mode, and there is no HDMI port support.
Best way to find out is to try them yourself, but you'll have to actually look through the forums for the answers, as they have already been posted more times than I care to count. In other words, search before you post.
