Hello everyone,
Although i am not an Apple fan, the truth is that i do like the new signal dots they implemented instead of the signal bars.
Is there anyway to make this possible for a cm10.2 based rom on gs3?
I've already seen that it has been achieved in nexus (post), and i thought i could ask if anyone is willing to do it for our gs3.

It's possible but quite unlikely on a cm based rom. But hey i'm no themer so I can't be 100% sure that it's not possible on a cm rom.

Dead easy really. You just need the time and the images. ...and to use vr-theme. I don't have the time myself, but who knows, one day I may look at it.

Please upload your SystemUI.apk and I will have a look if I have some time. My SystemUI changes colour so not much use.

Ok i've flashed it and it really works. The thing is that the dots appear only on stock theme.
I think i should address my request to the themer of my preffered theme, himself.

Yes because we only changed stock icons... if theme you have is flashable, sometimes it only replaces images. Some themes change xml so original images remain but point to new images
Theme engine themes also have new images

Really we need to look at layout xml but because they need decompiling, we cannot change a single line that may move icons in status bar.
This means we must flash entire xml file which means - theme becomes largely rom specific

Like I said, it can never be universal if you need xml layout changes. So it's either use the crappy one I posted or someone has to apply it to whatever ROM they want it on manually, Meaning they must decompile SystemUI.apk and alter xml once for each ROM version / release.

I am relatively new to android development and as for now i can only flash mods made by others. I sure want to learn and try making something on my own but it is not the easiest thing to do...
Sorry for going offtopic but I would like to ask you something, as you're the only one so far that has actually helped me: i used to have a webOS device and ever since i'am on android i miss the webOs multitasking with the horizontal windows... I have already opened a post about that but i haven't got any answers.
I have found a mod that involves compiling and de-compiling and i really want to try even though i haven't done anything like that before. The mod is about sense style recents window and concerns cm10.1, so i dont think i can apply it to my cm10.2 based rom.
i would like to ask you if you're aware of any way to implement this feature in cm10.2... Maybe it is easier to just "rotate" the existing recents menu and make it appear in portrait mode, (horizontal like in landscape mode)? I don't know if it is possible, but considering that you are an expert i take the liberty to ask for your opinion.

I actually love you for making this. I was looking for something like this for ages, stock 2.3 but blue. Seriously man thanks!
The only things I might change would be the drop down arrow button in the settings (more like the stock one?) and maybe remove the logo from the bottom of the pulldown? Kinda spoils the super-clean look of the theme ^_^
I think changing the pulldown is a bigger "issue" for me, just looks a wee bit out of place I think :/
Just my opinion though, looks great Hope you keep supporting and developing this.

Paste the Framework APK in to /system.
Then change permissions then move into
/system/framework.
Thats how iv been testing and iv done this way about 30 times trying out different .pngs and never had problems, ill be updating the files in a hour or so as well, so might want to hold out. into i do.

Ill change the Drop down to be plan on the next update, its a easy .png edit will take me a good two mins

As you can see it works great so far, im open to changes and help in theming other applications

I know you might get sick of all my little silly suggestions BUT, I found this (similar) theme for the ZTE Blade (my old phone) and it has some resources in it you may find useful.
One thing that stood out is the battery meter glows like stock GB in this theme, but in yours it doesnt currently.
Anyway the framework is here, you have to unzip the file, find the framework in the system directory and extract it from there, sorry >.<

I had a look at the .Zip file,
Yeah they have got a little but of a blur trouble is, in ZTE blade zip the battery icon jumps in 20% increments
Where the one we have now each percent has its own image file.
i know it does not use every icon on the phone, but might matter to the .xml and may cause bootloop. something i dont really want.
Also the drop down bottom bar i attached in the post, kept crashing the systemui.apk but i know why, so i might work on fixing that.
Its the annoying patch 9 image.
Want to try to get the arc to use all the battery icons for each % rather in jumps or 20% thats what im working on.
EDIT: i actually think it does use every 1% icons taking a look at the .xml files.

NOW FOR THE SKINNY!
So, most of us, Im pretty sure, think that the wallpaper on the lock screens suck. I was curious about if it was possible to change it and the answer I came up with was yes. Big thanks to Cy_ni_c for the heads up on this.
First of all you want to grab m10 tools.
Once you have that downloaded, open it up. Now you want to get the image ready that youre wanting as your wallpaper. To make things easier on yourself, make three copies. The image needs to be set EXACTLY this way:
1. Image needs to be resized to EXACTLY 540x960. You can do this in any image editor.
2. Flip the image upside down.
3. The images MUST be PNG format.
Once you have this done, you want to grab the IdleScreen_Weather.apk out of the rom youre usings zip folder. Its located in system/apps. Once you get the apk, you want to open up m10 and click load file. Navigate and select the IdleScreen_Weather.apk.
Once this loads, you want to click the tab that says m10 Files. At the bottom of the screen, youll see where it says Decode Images, make sure you check that box.
You want to double click the Lockscreen_weather_bg.m10. It will ask if you want to decompile it. Click yes. At this point, youll be brought to the next tab which is Editor.
From here you want to expand until you see Textures. Under there you will see three spots labeled Texture. Click that and it will bring up an image to the right. Right click on this image and click "Show in Explorer". You will see three png files in here. You want to replace each one with the images you created earlier. This is important though. Make sure you copy the name of each file youre replacing EXACTLY. Im not responsible for any errors you make on renaming.
Once you get all three of the images replaced, go back to start and then save .apk Make sure to use the same name.
Now you can either push this through ADB or just place the apk onto your SD card. If youre using a root explorer, which is how I do it cause its just easier, you want to copy the apk into the system/app folder. You want to make a backup incase you run into any issues. Once you get your edited apk inside of the system/app navigate to the file and long press and go to permissions then set them as follows.
Read Write Execute
Owner: X X 0
Group: X 0 0
Others: X 0 0
Once your permissions are fixed, you want to reboot. When you reboot let it marinate a bit. Let it load up the weather before you unlock it. While this particular method is for the weather screen, you can do this with the Friend stream, stocks or any other one you pick up. The overall method will be the same, file names will change. Over all this is simple for even the biggest of us noobs, so now take the time to hit the thanks button and enjoy your new custom lockscreen
Tips:
If youre having issues with the picture that you chose, thanks to Black00StangGT, theres a possible fix. Open up your image editor and change the color sync rgb profile to the generic rgb profile.
If youre still having issues and youve tried all other things, thanks to PrsnlCrcl, theres a possible fix. Before you save, zip align the apk. More on that HERE.

If youre wanting to make anything disappear from your lockscreen like the clock or date, try this out.
Find /system/apps/idlescreen_base.apk and open it in the m10 editor.
Once open navigate to Lockscreen_time.m10/0x0dc10c5e/lockscreen_time/timeline.time_fade/text.lockscreentime_ and where you see where it says Visible=1(bool) if you change this to 0 it will be hidden. You can do this with each of the items there. Remember in binary 0=off and 1=on.
Once you make the changes, go back and save it. Push with ADB or replace in a root explorer like normal. Reboot and enjoy.

We've done a bunch of lockrings in a few other threads. It'll be nice to change the weather background to match(theme). Thanks for the tut will def knock a few out when I get home.

I use the normal wallpaper lockscreen personally, but l love an unprovoked flame.

Im posting Modded APK's. Ill post screenshots here, but you download them from my site so that I dont have to continuously edit the OP. Plus since these work on the Bolt as well as the 3VO, Im not going to waste time updating links on two threads. I know you liked the pic, but I had to crop it and if you look at the pic I posted and the one you posted, its no longer centered because I wanted to get as much in the screen so that the weather doesnt cover it up.

I downloaded one from your page and it just kept cycling through the 3 pictures and never locked into one or showed the weather. It was one of the beach scenes. I used root explorer to add it.
Any idea's? Also changed the permissions as per the 1st post. I assume the x is what needs to be checked.

You have done a good job mate but I don't like it. It's a bit tacky, if you have the skills to do that though, you can make one that looks cool, I am not criticizing your work, it is just not for me. I would want somthing that looks modern and metalicy if you know what I mean, somthing that goes with the flashy futuristic look of my tab. And again, good work' I couldn't do that . It just doesn't apeal to me. Hope you continue and make a really cool looking one

This was just to help b00sted out. I'm working on my own Ninja theme at the moment. But if you really want, I could make a more futuristic looking christmas lockscreen when I get around to it.
Actually, at a second glance, the lockscreen that comes with the theme is pretty futuristic looking. You could just keep that.

Should have a preview up tonight. Havent even finished the battery yet, I'm on 60 charging. (thats what I started with) I don't have a lot of time on my hands these days to work on stuff so finishing the theme will take longer than usual.

I love the colours of the theme, just not the lock screen. Can you make lock screens that can just be flashed over any theme? I had a cool idea, probably wouldn't be possible, as I don't know what kind of animation can be used on the lock circle. Have you ever seen stargate? How cool would it be to have the lock ring as the stargate and as you press it the gate opens, and the actual center of the ring that you drag to unlock could just be a little star or somthing. Probably not possible but would be great lol. If you haven't heard of stargate just search google or youtube for a vid of the gate opening, then you know what I mean

I'm pretty sure its impossible to make a lockscreen mod that can be flashed over any theme because the location of the files that you need to mod is in the middle of all other framework files. You have to manually overwrite the lockscreen files for each theme you want them on.
I'm pretty sure it would be possible to make the stargate thing you want, but it requires HEAVY xml editing and rearranging because it deals with how the tablet acts and that is WAYY out of my league.

if your talking bout my starfield lockscreen then what your talking about would be completely different
if you actually look at the png ive used its just a pic of stars
i actually managed to make that theme by a mistake when i put the wrong picture in the apk :L
and your themes look quite good tivo and have potential and i no how you feel as my first few themes only got like 10 downloads :L

the uninstall will revert to the stock framework/res/systemui/settings/android.policy files, so backup these files for your own sake before installing this mod. my working installation is arconium 7.1, so that's where my starting point was for these files. i've had some issues with the uninstaller from time to time, though, so let me know if it's not working for you and i'll see what i can do.
it's my first ever mod, so please let me know what you think, and if you have any more suggestions that you'd like to see included post 'em and i'll see what i can do.
equally, if anyone wants to see my working files, i tried to split out the mods into individual changes from the stock decompiled files as i found that easier to keep track of the changes. if they're any use to someone, just ask and i'll send you my working files.

2g/3g toggle mod could be a useful addition to this so thanks for the heads-up! i'll have a look and see if i can work out how to include it - i have to admit that the smali code is a complete pita to get my head around - such a shame apktool doesn't decompile into java instead as i've worked with that for over 12 years i don't suppose you know of a language primer for smali code at all?

Smali is essentially a java optimized for dalvik. It's easy to understand once you get used to it only that all the type is included in each object mentioned instead of one include directive on top of java file. another differences is that variable is assigned with a v (v1, v2, etc) and parameter is with p (p0 -> usually a replacement for 'this' inside object based function or just a first parameter in a static function, p1, p2, etc)

well, i've tried to keep the mods as separate as i can while i was doing them so that they could be combined. there's only a few that crossed over significantly, but the control panel mod was one of them. as it stands, i'm toying with the idea of trying to move it beneath the notifications as in landscape mode it takes up most of the available screen space, and the notifications aren't really visible. ideally, i'd do it more like miui, with the page of icons and a page for notifications, with the view defaulting to notifications if any are present. but that's just me - i really liked miui, but for some reason the touch-screen doesn't seem to respond properly on cm7/miui on the arc s. ah, well

Just installed the zip. All files installed and rom booted. The option appears in dev settings and lets me select it with the tick, but holding back doesnt kill anything its a if its not even there.

second attempt, then: try this instead just tried it on my phone, and seems to work fine for me this time. it still has the 'never' option on the display timeout in there too, as i'm a little pushed for time to pull all of those changes out, but there shouldn't be anything else left in there.

The only apps (that usually appear in the drawer) left are
contacts, phone, messaging. settings, setup guide, gallery, camera, play, xperia play, explorer, downloads, music, pspocket, superuser
You can't even change the wallpaper or change the horrible pink/purple color Also no TTS.
i understand this is a v1 release and addons are coming but imho this should be mentioned on the OP.

I used windiff to compare this rom and the main differences are all the apps including ones that should be left are removed 6 edits to build.prop and a framework change.
You are raging over nothing i am just merely stating that this rom is not that different. so the original creator deserve the thanks.
SD Card doesn't even auto mount < bug
Has horrible purple color < yuck
Really Fast < NICE
Link2SD < doesn't work just like with NXT rom.

Thirdly my ROM was coming out before yours however i have a issue which i am fixing. check "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30184872&postcount=30" you will see the date is before yours. I had to go job center so have not fixed the issue yet.
