Has anyone managed to install v4a viper audio on a mega i9200? - Samsung Galaxy Mega

It tried to install the app and driver following the instructions but it still seems to have no effect. I followed all the troubleshooting methods with no success so I'm curious if anyone else has tried and succeeded?

Why you do not try first and tell us is it working?
I installed on my mega 5.8 and great working.

I install it oni9205 it work on 3th part app only the sound is veryyyyyy good..

Did you have to do anything that wasn't in the installation instructions to get it working. Does the driver need to be in safe mode? Did you install the apk as a user or system app. I use zplayer. I tried it with zplayer my player and the stock Samsung music player.

Im using it on google music player...
Other not working for m...
I try bouth as system n user app only work on google music player.... for movie i use mxplayer...it work...

Is it work on samsung music play????

Does anyone know if this interferes with thering1975's volume Mod? Anyone who had thering's volume mod and flashed this on top off it?

It just loud only...but the bass and others are same...
Try this with Va4android
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.music

viper4android seems to work with google music player, but not when we're streaming media through stock browser.
strange, never happened on my past devices before.
and oh, when we're placing voice calls, viper4android seems to enhance the other party's voice, LOL they talk like they're on a podium mic.

I baked Viper4Android into my rom and its working flawlessly...works at all times, playing music, streaming audio or videos like YouTube, even phone calls...works thru loudspeaker, earpiece, headset, even improved my galaxy gear thru bluetooth. So yes, I have it working perfectly.

Right I realize he's running the 3g 9200...but given how many people flashed my roms on the 9200 and reported back, about the rom, and a few specifically using viper it works fine both variants... And I use stock Samsung music player...I hate google music player and have 8 gigs of music on my sd card . plus viper works for phone calls, steaming YouTube, even my galaxy gear thru bluetooth sounds better tweaked.

Well I'm guessing the reason is that a lot of Samsung apps have been removed and replaced with Xperia one's.....and s voice integrates with the Samsung apps...ie."play music"...opens the stock music player, not poweramp, or Sony music player, so guessing it is a case of dependencies being removed.....just an educated guess

Latest Play Music update drops Nexus Q Support

It looks like Google finally dropped Nexus Q support. With the music streaming issues lately, some hoped they would fix it. Well, they did. You won't be having streaming issues anymore, because you can't do it at all. Sad day for us Nexus Q owners...
The question on my mind is: what to do now with this piece of hardware? My previous concerns about putting CM on it are now moot. I'm thinking of making it an independent media server. XBMC + CM 10?
What are all of you going to do next?
Does CM 10 include support for the speaker outputs?
Last I tried it was HDMI only
---------- Post added at 08:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:26 PM ----------
so I downloaded the AP K from a Chinese website so I could decompile it without having to root my own phone, and the icons are all still there. Maybe a glitch is preventing it from showing?
I posted on another thread wondering if the bluetooth can just be made discoverable so you can connect to it like a car stereo for streaming.

Sad indeed. It the most beautiful piece of useless technology I own now.
Fine, I understand they're killing the Q. I hate the fact that they're doing it, but as they said - no one really paid for it, atleast not paid Google.
But help me understand this, is there anything that can now replace spotify and apple-TV from Google? I'm loving the all access music service from Google but i still don't have the possibility to send songs to a media center, right?
Or can Google TV solve this?

Well, Maybe There is a chance... CM10 and the google play músic 5 apk... The thing is how to use it without a mouse or a bt Key board

This may be a stupid question, but can the previous Music app be "resigned" so it isn't updated or seen by the Play Store? Could the new Music app then be installed side by side with the altered Music app so we still get Q streaming abilities (with the old app) and then use the new Music app for All Access?
Modaco did something like this with TweakDeck. You could use both TweakDeck and TweetDeck side by side on the same device.

While it may not be the official method, I have Google Play Music sideloaded onto my CM10.1 Nexus Q and it works just fine, even since the update they announced at Google IO (with the orange UI).
If you have cm10.1 you can now download google music in the store this still need a proper app to control it from your phone like apple tv. Also does anyone know what kind of development is going on with it in cms side?

I'm up for doing this, but how do you control it? bluetooth mouse? or does it still connect up to the music app on your phone/tablet?
I'm pretty unhappy about this too. I bought my Q on EBay prior to the announcement that they weren't actually releasing it. I've pretty much built my whole music system around it so not being able to control it will make me go back to using an iPod - something I REALLY don't want to do!! I uninstall the update on my Razr HD and the old version still seems to work but I've not had any luck doing the same thing yet on my Xoom that's running EOS 4 (4.2.2). I may see if I can pull the apk from my Razr HD and install it on the Xoom.

You can control it with a bluetooth mouse, keyboard, remote etc. It doesn't allow you to use your phone/tablet as the playlist manager like the stock Nexus Q functionality, instead you get a fancy widescreen tablet style Google music interface on your TV and you navigate your music and play direct from there.
Am I right that there is no way to get analog output to work with CM to use it headless with some remote app and without TV plugged?
I'm looking for a meaningful solution aswell. We bought one of ebay and loved using it since our small circle of friends are all using google music so it made a lot of sense to us. If it were possible to keep to seperate gmusic apks on the phone that would already be enough I guess.
A good solution would be worth 100€ to us.

Can you tell any significant difference in the max volume when using sound "mods" like this?
What kind of difference can you see in the following scenarios:
1.) Stock Sound --> THIS Mod instead?
How about those of you that have been running Viper?
2.) Stock Sound --> Viper Mod ??
3.) Viper Mod --> THIS Mod instead ?

I'm using viper from the playstore and it works great for my music. I work in a factory and plug my 3.5mm head jack into a kicker stereo. The phone speaker it's self seems loud enough for me. No to knock this sound mod at all but I favor the eq in viper. Just my opinion. The only downside of viper is I have to greenify it when I'm done using it.

From what I've noticed about Viper is that it doesn't work with every music app.
It doesn't work with the Samsung music player.
It will work with the Google Play Music app with wav (flac encoded) files, but not MP3s.
It will work with Power Amp will all files, but the Power Amp trial app I downloaded can't see my wav/flac files for playback.

I have only been using it for a few days but my understanding is that replaces the stock DSP manager once you install the driver and select it in Settings > Music Effects, so the sound effect *should* be global and affect all music sources. I do not use the Samsung music app, and I do not store MP3s locally. I had some, but many of them must be inferior rips because they sounded flat or distorted no matter what EQ settings I used. I finally decided to try Google All Access, and I am glad I did. Using the highest quality stream and ViPER4Android, it sounds 100x better than my ipod.

The easiest way to know if Viper is working, is that when you are playing music, to go into the Viper app and uncheck the enable box at the top. If you hear the music volume/sound change, then you know it was working, and you can re-check the box.
I know that it doesn't work at all with the Samsung Music app.
On the Google Play Music, it does work with WAV( (FLAC encoded) files, but not MP3s. I don't have the "Google All Access" subscription, so I can't verify if Viper works with it.
Since my MP3s weren't sounding too good while using Viper, I got all my CDs and did them as WAV (FLAC), and copied it over the microSD card (but took about 21GB of space). But it does sound much better than the MP3 rips I did of these CDs many years ago.

I tried that while streaming Google Music, and it definitely makes a difference. I have no MP3s or FLACs to test with the Samsung Music app, so I have no idea if V4A effects will translate through that app.
Since using V4A and Google Music Service, I have heard new musical details (instruments as well as front/rear speaker isolation) on songs that I thought I knew very well. This is most likely due to the poor quality of my MP3s, rather than V4A or the quality of Google Music, but it was a nice surprise regardless. If you have not tried Google Music Service then I highly recommend it, especially if you are surrounded with solid 4G or WiFi. The first month is free. It's not on the same level as FLAC, but it will probably be a step up from MP3.

I downloaded the FX 2.3.1.1 version from the xda thread instead of the unofficial market link because (1) the market link is in Chinese, and (2) I wanted to make sure I got the latest release. Install it like any other apk, go to Settings > Sound > Music effects and select ViPER4Android. You will be prompted to install a special driver, so do that. Reboot, then open "ViPER4Android" in the app drawer, and tweak to your liking. Then play some tunes and adjust EQ and other options as needed. The effects are much more pronounced via the audio jack rather than the speakerphone.

I'm using 2.3.0.1 and it "automatically" installed the driver, as the one from the Play Store had a list of drivers, and I wasn't sure which one to use.
Does the 2.3.1.1 also automatically install the driver?
Edit: Updated to 2.3.1.1 without problem.

What sound equalizer app do you use ?

As is commonly known, at lower volumes the sound on the G pad is pretty dark and murky.
This can be improved easily by using an equalizer app and turning down the bass/lower frequencies, and turning up the higher frequencies.
I've tried a few different apps, some work, some don't.
Currently I'm using the "Music equalizer" app, which is allright but turns itself off after 30 minutes, so I'm looking for something better.
What apps have you found that work well with MX player?
(I know sound improves in other ROM's but I want to stay rooted stock, so custom ROM's are not an option right now)
Same here.
Today I installed DSP manager (from cyanogenmod).
Nice and exactly what I want, except that it doesn't work at all.

I use PowerAmp music player. It has a great DSP but I don't know if it works system-wide and I haven't really tried to find out because I haven't really though about it.
Upgrade to CM11, it will change your tab, especially concerning the sound..
Poweramp seems to be a music player rater than a generic equalizer.
About CM, have I mentioned in my start post that I want to stay stock, or did I forget to say that?

Greetings..
I know you want to stay stock but...
I was just reading this thread and I have CM-11 installed and I thought.. why not turn on Netflix and the DSP (which I was not using) and see if the DSP Mgr. does make a difference..
It Does.. A Big Difference if you adjust the EQ manually.. So at least you know you have an option should your situation become unbearable.
I know there is that option so I have considered that. Not having Qremote is not an option at this moment, so I'm not going there.
As for equalizers, I've found another one that works, but it also turns off after 30 minutes.
I have the impression that this is not so much a funcionalty, but a limitation within android.
Does anyone know if all equalizer apps will turn off after 30 minutes?
Does any app exist that I can use that doesn't turn itself off?

If you are rooted you could try AlsaMixer. It's kinda a carry over from Linux. Bear in mind that it had a major overhaul some time ago. It has so many settings for each connectin you won't believe it. Unfortunately I have no idea how to use it after the overhaul as everything is classified pretty cryptic, but I believe I saw something about 5 different EQ bands. AlsaMixer is system wide btw. The EQ is just one of many variables you can set. However finding a tutorial is imminent, if you ask me. Good luck.

I'm not certain of what I'm saying right now. But since MX Player is capable of using both software and hardware for both sound and video I suspect it may use it's own settings.. I don't know. I'm basing it on ZPlayer in the Market which I used for a long time, that one had it's own EQ and such and the dev said that the users shouldn't be using any 3rd party EQ's because it wouldn't have any effect.. May be some of the same stuff going on with MX Player since it offers all these different decoders.. Sorry, I'm not going back to stock to test this. Anything CM/AOSP related, I'll gladly check out for you. :/
I'm just wondering; DSP manager does not seem to have any effect on the sound of any apps here.
As for MX player (which is the only app I really care about for an equalizer to work with),
some equalizer apps work with it and some don't.
The few that I found that work all quit after 30 minutes, probably that's a limitation in android?
I'm starting to think harder about Mahdi rom, it sure looks nice but I just can't part yet from Qremote.

Rooted users can use viper. It is the best system wide system modulator out there. It can be found almost anywhere on these forums. If you need a link, pm me and i'll send you one.

I never understood the "pm me and I'll send you the link" attitude.
Anyway .. I agree with Charlie: it is a very good sound enhancer utility.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion.
Viper4androidFX works,
it works with MX player and it keeps working after 30 minutes.
I believed for a moment that this was the solution for optimizing the sound on the G pad,
however viper seems to have an unwanted effect on videoprocessing;
while streaming HD content over MX player there is a slight stutter in the video that immediately disappears when I turn viper off.
That makes useless for me really.
I am thinking about saying goodbye to the Qremote app and flashing Mahdi.

The reason is that I prefer privacy on these boards. That's all
