You can also skip the htc process and just soff and use revone to unlock boot loader. head over to htc international and follow vomer's guide to soff if you have never done it. great guide. make sure your hboot is less than 1.54. its under the "one android development" may be a page back, but it is a wonderful guide.

Sweet thank you guys for all the help I've always had galaxy's and am so used to Odin hahah

it is failing right at the end, it says invalid bootloader token/ token to short. i have tryed a few times and looked vomers thread and it was confusing me haha.

I had that issue as well, when your copying the token ID you need to make sure you only highlight the characters exactly. I was highlighting just past the last character of the token, like an extra empty space and it gave me problems.

I just bought one 4 days ago, and unlocked it through the HTCdev method. You sure you're doing everything correctly?

I'm considering doing The same,I'm currently still stock.I do recall reading somewhere that with the last firmware update a few months back, some sort of lock was applied?is anyone able to elaborate?

Yes you can. I've unlocked multiple people's phone and save all the individual unlock_bins for later use. Came in handy when running DirtyRacuns as I was able to bypass the HTC unlock part

[Q] Unlock.bin From other HTC device

Can someone explain to me the reason we can't use another HTC unlock.bin on the DNA.
The HTC Vivid (AT&T) went from 2.3.7 to 4.0.4 Offically. So that means the HBoot got upgraded.
Now why wouldn't i be able to use the unlock.bin from the Viv, and unlock the DNA in the same way?
I want to try, but i don't have a backup verizon phone.
I know the DNA is a quad Viv a Dual
one GSM and ond CDMA/GSM
Any input?
I know it may be a stupid question, and it may get me flame, But what exactly does the DEV tool use from out OEM identifier?
We used to have the option under other Devices, until the 2.04
The unlock.bin is tied to the specific device that was used to get that giant block of text. You can not use one dna's unlock.bin to unlock another DNA and definitely can't use one from another device to unlock a DNA.

Can you use your phone number without having your SIM ?
I'm assuming that the devices token is embedded in the unlock_code.bin file, so I was curious on if it was possible to hack an unlock_code.bin to insert your token in to it. I tried to look in to it with a file hex editor, but I couldn't make sense of anything to know where to even begin, It much be encrypted.

Maybe if you have a supercomputer and a few years to crack whatever encryption they use on that file, it aint gonna happen.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
It's because you create the unlock token from the device. It's not one they just email to you. You pull unique identifiers from your device and then they use that information with their automated processes and they build the unlock code with it.
If it wasn't unique to the device, only one person would need to claim responsibility and agree to the license terms with HTC and then it could be passed around like a cheap craigslist date.

now that the Source code is out for the 2.04 update, we might get closer to an unlock

[Q] HTC Droid DNA Verizon Bootloader Lock HELP

I am very new to this, but my Droid DNA, that i just got, is giving me troubles with unlocking the bootloader. I am used to samsungs, and HTC's are confusing to me... I just rooted my uncles HTC One S, and that was pretty simple, but this is still mind boggling to me. If you know how to fix this, please PM me. I have tried the SuperCID app, and it doesnt change my MEID, and HTCDev wont work until I unlock the Verizon Bootloader. I've tried HTCDev, but i keep getting the error code 160, MID Not Allowed. Please help me. thank you for any advice you may have.

If you just bought the phone and it has the newest update, you can't unlock or root. There is no method for the new firmware.
smh... doesn't anybody read anymore? I thought it was normal to gather information before diving in to Unlock bootloaders... Guess not.
Sorry to be so harsh but there are a ton of threads here that would have let you know this is not possible
Well, i have been "doing my homework" on this, and i can assure you that i didnt just dive right in, i looked into it and have looked into every possible way to slove my matters, but as you can see, i havent and thats why i am here.

Its a 2 06, is there a way to downgrade the system? Or even just run a cmd to bypass the verizin bootlock? Ive tried the SuperCID app for this, but it seems it doesnt keep the new MEDI. And i have no idea why?

No. SuperCID broke with the 2.04 update. There is no way to downgrade. There is no current alternative.

Can I root without unlocking?

I am new to HTC, I've been using Samsung product for the past few years and this process seems a little different, is there a way for me to root the phone without unlocking?
Also I am a little confused about unlocking and s-off... If I decide to switch roms do I need to s-off and to be unlocked or only be unlocked, any help will be appreciated ..
Thank you

To add to the above, I have never use fastboot and rather stay away from it to avoid messing up my phone

Yes do you do have to unlock the bootloader to achieve root... If you follow the guides it's not bad at all... I came from mostly Samsung devices too so it took a little getting used to...
As far as s-off I believe you need it to update firmware I did it for the hell of it so I could update firmware.. if s-off is completely necessary I don't know but again it was easy enough to do so I figured why not... Just read read read the guides lol

Sorry for the confusing reply....I have not done anything to the phone yet and it is not bricked.
I do not know how to get to boot loader etc. I used to have HTC EVO, back then I used to root I think using some S-Off tool and using some command line method.
Now I have forgotten everything as after EVO switched to Samsung and in samsung I used to root with Odin.
So waiting for someone to provide detailed step by step direction to root for Sprint MAX.
Thank you so much for offering to help though.

No I still have not rooted...I guess I will wait till we get dedicated Sprint-HOM section...In the past I have seen people bricking their phone because they used instruction for ROMs and Radios for GSM version. Also in my experience generally it takes 3-4 months after the release of the phone to get proper root guide.
Are you guys allowed to unlock the bootloader via HTCDev?
Doesn't that kill the finger print scanner?

I'm not 100% sure about that; I have been reading through the threads here, and am considering grabbing one of these monsters on BF, but don't own one right at this point..
I think there is a way for S-off, as there is a rom or 2 already available for this phone ...
