I got an unlocked from AT&T, and now Im using T-Mobile. How come I don't have 4g. I have edge only. My zip code is 36066 and its still in range. My htc amaze has 4g, but this htc one has edge only. is there any setting need to be switched on. I just got this phone for a few hours.
It doesn't support tmobiles hspa bands. If you don't live in one of tmobiles refarmed areas it won't get 4g

It depends where you are located like grim said. Your location may not be refarmed yet.

Both white and black are the same, yes you will get 3G and 4G coverage on at&t since 4G is hspa and at&t supports hspa.
No this phone doesn't have lte and just a heads up, though you will get 4G, it might not be as fast t-mobile from what I've heard, their HSPA isn't that fast but still pretty decent.
I appreciate that.

It has the 1900 band, at&t's HSPA network runs on that band.
What about 3g?

HSPA is 3G, HSPA+ is 4G, the iPhone has both HSPA and HSPA+, which works on the iPhone's 1900 band, get where I'm going with this?

ST does support 4G but right now my tower is under a full noon load.
12 noon speed is awful but 12 midnight speed is great.
At&t doesn't keep up on maintenance with these towers.

I used to work for Business End User Care for AT&T. As of the time I left (november), if you placed your sim in a smartphone and used it for about a day the system would add the lowest data plan and send you a text message indicating it had been added to your account. Even if you were using someone's phone while your "feature phone" wad being replaced, it was required. I've had to read that section of the TOS to many, many angry people. I would call and confirm just to be safe.

DO NOT CALL to ask..... as they won't know the answer, and might put a note on your account to force a data plan(well, you could call and ask on someone else's phone without giving your account number)
the primary way (so far that I've seen) that AT&T detects your smartphone is via IMEI. Secondary might be you using >100GB/month, connecting to their 4G APN settings, going to a store for help and letting the customer rep see that you have a smartphone
does AT&T have your IMEI? probably not.... AT&T has IMEI of all of their smartphones, so you can't use an AT&T smartphone. You can try using an (unlocked) t-mobile phone, but might not support the right 3G/4G bands that AT&T use. You can try international phones, canda phones(from Bell, Telus...). WARNING>>>. AT&T might have your IMEI because the manufacture gave them the IMEI(See Google Nexus phones), inference from branded phones that they carry(eg Phone is sold/branded by AT&T and t-mobile... AT&T gets a list of their phone IMEIs that might include t-mobile's IMEIs), screwups(Samsung Note overseas was misentered as a tablet on AT&T's network, white i9100 Galaxy SII is misentered as a Blackberry on AT&T's network)
The link at the end of this post gives a guide to what phones are 100% compatible(3G/4G on 850/1900) on AT&T's network.
According to this, the T-Mobile Amaze 4G is compatible with AT&T 3G/4G, but I have some confusion on the 850/1900 mhz band for the 3G/4G data, trying to sort it out(last few posts on that thread)
Guide to what phones are 100% compatible with AT&T's network
anyways, quick update
got a T-mobile Amaze 4G to play with
(with unlocked bootloader, S-Off, Super CID and SIM unlock, all available on this forum), works on AT&T 4G (HSDPA)
speeds right now ~ 1000 kbits/s up/down, hard to test because my location is spotty
If i unlock my atrix 4g, can i use the $30 tmobile plan that has 4g? If not then at what speed would i receive data? What about with straight talk? I live in Chicago and straight talk uses the tmobile sim. I know this has been asked before but i heard that tmobile changed the frequency of their4g to 1900 and according to this i can get 3g in chicago http://www.airportal.de/ . I just need some help clearing this confusion Thanks

yes, I have a atrix 4g working on tmobile. i am in schaumburg and have working 4g.
I have a Sidekick 4G and I'm thinking about getting an Atrix, with the new 1900 rollout how will the speeds compare? I've heard about some crazy speeds but my Sidekick doesnt seem to get them and if they're about on par I'm switching to the coolest phone I've seen the Atrix

Nope, only EDGE due to the radio frequencies the HTC Rezound uses. Depending on your area, T-Mobile might not have updated their towers to work for 3G. 4G, or HSPA+ on the 1900MHz frequency. You can check http://www.airportal.de/ to see where it is available..
thanks for the reply. I checked the map and it seems they haven't updated. Also if they were to update it, it would work on 3G/HSPA+?

It should. The HTC Rezound has the 1900Mhz radio. Almost all unlocked GSM capable phones will be able to get 3G/4G/HSPA+ with T-Mobile.
Csn anyone confirm that a rezound can fully work on t mobile? Same quality voice and SMS and lte.
Thanks

I tested a T-Mobile SIM in my Rezound. Voice quality was outstanding, no issues with SMS/MMS. But the best data I could get was EDGE. I live in Phoenix, AZ, so if I was capable of getting better speeds, I would have gotten them here.

The Rezound does not have the hardware support for T-Mobile's 1700Mhz AWS frequencies, which is used for 3G and psuedo-4G (HSPA+), so the best you will ever get with the Rezound on T-Mobile is 2G/Edge... and no LTE at all on T-Mobile which uses 1700Mhz Band 4 LTE, the Rez only supports Verizon's 700Mhz Band 13 LTE. Sorry...
I was just wondering i havent learned much about international phones and such. Buti heard that an ATT HTC One may be used on Tmobile/Simple with full 4G bands and thr whole 9. From the HTC site: M7/Verizon: ... UMTS/HSPA 1900/2100MHz,GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz, LTE Band 13
So you need to check if TMOUS has 3G 1900 in your area. 4G is entirely out of the question.

I think 4G service on Verizon device even if you unlock them will not work on GSM sim card. Try hooking up your device on CDMA service and see what happen.
Did you change the apn setting?? And far as I know with Verizon they blocked most of the gsm signals so unless you flash a new modem no dice

It's not uncommon at all to make different variants of the same phone for different networks. If the phone doesn't have the bands then no amount of flashing other things is going to make a difference.
