This may sound like a strange question, but does anyone still have a copy of an AOSP Froyo 2.2 ROM they would be willing to upload?
Thanks

I have found that varying ROMs from these links below are still available:

and I have a collection of older classic ROMs here in one of my AFH Folders::
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?a=show&w=files&flid=6355
of which I'll probably be adding these ones I found above to at some point
Thank you for helping me out. I was able to find 3 good links, however two of them are still touch-wiz based and the other gives me a status 0 error and won't install : ( I'll keep digging. I really want to get my hands on a cm6 build or jt's vanilla froyo but of course all links are dead. I've never used any of the community roms or superclean roms, are these touchwiz?

ComROM and Superclean are both based on official stock Verizon ROMs. They basically either gut out or modify TouchWiz. I'm not too sure about the Froyo builds of these, but if you're looking at the EH03 builds of SuperClean and TSM (previously known as Comrom) they have Touchwiz 4. As far as I understand, Community ROM (TSM) pretty much contains AOSP apps but it's based off of EB01 (VZW 2.2.1)
So from what I'm seeing, the only pure android 2.2 AOSP roms are probably going to be jt's vanilla froyo or Cyanogenmod 6?
I'm also looking for an AOSP version of gingerbread. My SD card is a class 4 and I can't flash any of the official CM7.1 or CM7.2

as far as gingerbread goes, try looking at OMFGB.
besides, why the hell do you want Froyo anyway?

I remember the old days when I had my HTC HeroC that AOSP froyo and gingerbread worked very well and ran very fast on low ram devices and I wanted to give them a run on my phone. I wasn't around for the GB and froyo days for the fascinate. When I obtained my phone everyone was using JB roms. I just want to run it on my phone for a little bit. I can't find any omfgb roms with any good links. As I said before CM6 and CM7 either will not install or will give me corrupted sd card errors because I have a class 4 card.

I installed CM7 with a Class 2 Samsung card (that i still use today on Helly Bean) and it worked just fine. CM7 had its share of problems though. Wifi was really flaky, and barely worked on the stock kernel. Also the Superuser app broke.
I guess I'm just lucky though

I have CM7 on my phone right now, but I keep getting sd card corrupted errors and I can't mount my sd card in recovery. I'm not a fan of touchwiz but might give some of those older ones a try. JB 4.1-4.3 are just not running really good on my phone right now

The most stable ones I have found for me are Hellybean and Eclipse, but even those get laggy for me after a few days. I can run a vzw rom as long as I convert it with Rom Konverter on Rootzwiki

Well EH03 is Verizon's stock firmware (2.3.5) for the fassy. I think you guys have either EI20 or EH09, and one of those two is 2.3.6. lucky bastards, you get a .1 version newer than ours lol

Hello folks,
I am some what new to the Android OS, I have a vibrant that has been updated with mini kies to the JI6 2.1 ECLAIR. I am anxious to try out Froyo. I thought I would wait awhile until the Devs could work out some bugs. I think that has happened by now. So I have three questions.
1. what is the most stable custom Froyo based ROM I can flash on my vibrant?
2. Is there a Froyo based ROM that already has mobile AP enabled for the vibrant?
3. Where (if possible) can I download a stock ROM of the vibrant? (Before you tell me to make one, know that mine is not stock, I have installed OCLF, and the JI6 update)
thanks for any help that can be given,

1. [ROM] Obsidian V2 - JK2 Official Froyo Based 2.2 - Team Whiskey - *11/08/10* Very stable for me
2. Yes [ROM] Obsidian V2 - JK2 Official Froyo Based 2.2 - Team Whiskey - *11/08/10* I think most of the Froyo releases have it now.

This is my preference, seems very stable and can be a daily driver. I imagine its going to have an update soon, we'll see. I don't like TW, if you do, perhaps try another version (eugenes or TWs Obsidian).

-- Wait the link was to a "True Stock" 2.1 rom, are you saying that is your current preference over Froyo?
-- Your aversions to TW... is that you don;t like them personally, or you do not like their roms?
^ HAHAA, Sorry, let me clarify:
I LOVE Team Whiskey. I HATE TouchWiz (TW).
The link is to Onyx. It is 2.2 without TW (TouchWiz). It flies on my Vibrant... no FCs, very stable. I imagine they are going to have an update soon but the good news is they are not wiping data now so you can flash R21, then R22 and not lose anything. If/when they release R23 I imagine that too will not wipe data so you can just flash right on top and not lose anything.
LauncherPro is more appealing to me, more customizable and it's faster. There is nothing I like about TW better than LP. I also hate scrolling left to right (I know there is an alt way, but LP is better for me). Look at the downloads/comments for Onyx (no TW) vs. Obsidian (the 2.2 version with touchwiz) and you will see an overwhelming majority prefer no TW.

So I installed bionics Obsidian 2.2 on my vibrant using Clockwork rom manager. Everything went smooth. It installed and booted just great, I really liked what I saw. Only problem I ran into was I had purchased a app before I flashed rom. After flash, it was gone.. not just off the phone but not in the market either. No big deal normally I would just go into market and click Downloads and there it would be. Not this time, cant even find it doing a search. I paid like $14 usd for it so I would like it. But its completely gone. Maybe it wont show it to me because of the new firmware?
Now, it is not there and my first instinct told me to re-flash... So I open clockwork and try and re-install. I locate file on SD.. But, instead of rebooting into clockwork, it reboots like its going to and reboots again but into standard recovery OS mode.
What would be the easiest way for me to re-flash this using a macbook?
Remember reading somewhere that the market installed was the european version so some paid apps would appear. However i can't seem to find the post that originally mentioned this issue. Anyone else remember if obsidian was using the european version of the market?
C to the L-O-T-O-R-I-O, U-S, you just, lay down slow.
If you have clockwork still installed (the answer is yes if you have a team whiskey rom loaded), if you get to the standard pre-loader, recovery mode, just select "reinstall packages..." That should get you into CwR

Regarding apps... don't forget to get Titanium Backup and backup not only all your apps but also their data. I recommend the donated pro version for $5.99 which makes the backup/restore process completely painless and automatic. So after you flash a new rom if something like you describe happens you can just recover your app from your backup.
I love my fascinate. But there are some minor things I can't stand about the phone, mainly in how limited some options are and inability to remove some stock apps.
I tried a custom rom before, frakenclean I think, and while I loved the options it gave me I could not stand the way the phone would crash. The phone crashed almost daily. So I went back to the stock rom.
I miss the option to turn the 3g on and off, not having the Is there a reliable/stable rom that won't crash on me?
Custom roms have never had issues for me, you might have gotten a bad build. You should try out the gingerbread roms, they have the best performance and awesomeness you can get for our phones. If you want to stay on froyo try powerwashed or comrom.

Hi SageDieu,
I currently have a Telus Fascinate (SGH-T959D) which is running Stock Gingerbread + Rooted.
I'm wondering if you could point me in the right direction to where I can find custom gingerbread ROMs for my phone.
I have yet to feel comfortable with some of the ROM's I've looked at here in the forums.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
The only rom thats not on xda is tsm pool party. You can find that on rootzwiki. Anyway imo powerwashed ed05 and com rom are the 2 most reliable roms. The gb roms still have a few minor issues, but most things have been fixed. I will be jumping over to pwgb soon as a voodoo kernal is released.

I don't think there has ever been a custom rom created specifically using a Telus Fascinate rom as a base. Just custom kernels.
I'm currently running Darky's Rom 10.2 RE , flashable directly via odin/heimdall
It's GT-i9000 based Gingerbread 2.3.4 with some tweaks and it's own custom kernel. You get to choose from stock Gingerbread launcher or Touchwiz 4.5 (launcher from SGS II with some tweaks).
You need to do some tweaking to get your home/back button fixed, but I find its insignificant to the benefits of running a (i9000-based) custom rom. I've never had the phone crash on me from normal use, so I consider it very stable.
I think the OP and others are talking about the Verizon Fascinate which is completely different from our Telus Fascinate. There has been confusion in the past which resulted in bricked phones so please be careful when talking about custom roms for "Fascinate"

Refer to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004314
Basically, you need to mopdi melfas_touchkey.kl (may be different in MUIU) file in /system/usr/keylayout/ to assign the proper function (ie, HOME, SEARCH) to the proper button key.
The thread has a flashable zip, but I'd recommend using a root-capable file explorer (like Root Explorer [padi] or ES File Manager [free]) to edit the file.
I find custom roms very reliable. Sometime more reliable then stock roms.

First and foremost, is there a particular reason you've chosen to run ICS versus the latest iteration of Android, JellyBean? You may not be aware, but running ICS has a great risk of causing near-permanent damage to your phone's internal SD card. You can read more about it here... LINK. However, if you accept the risk and would prefer to run ICS versus a newer version of Android, I would have to recommend ICZen. Before I got hit with the Encryption Unsuccessful error myself, I used ICZen as my daily driver. It's a really good ICS ROM, but remember, every and any ICS ROM has the risk of causing corruption. So unless there is a specific reason you're running ICS, I'd recommend switching to a JellyBean ROM (if you're after the latest version of Android).

man, eh03 is terrible. that bing just kills me, i hate even seeing bloatware, and i get lockups on my n64 emulator. now, according to @hhp_211 i can't really use jellybean because my sd card class is too low. (it's a 16gb Samsung class 2 card, highest storage i got). so i plan on going over to CM7 tonight. but before i do that, i have some questions.
1. do i have to Odin stock again before flashing CWM and CM7?
2. can i upgrade from CM7 to CM10.2 once that becomes a daily driver thing without odining back to stock?
3. what are some of the enhancements in the CM7 kernel?
thanks
@skepticmisfit
1. do i have to Odin stock again before flashing CWM and CM7?
answer = Nope
2. can i upgrade from CM7 to CM10.2 once that becomes a daily driver thing without odining back to stock?
answer = Yep ,,, you can, but depending on how much you do with any ROM,,, going back to stock and then up whatever ROM gives you the best chances that no garbage [so to speak] would get carried over during flashing
3. what are some of the enhancements in the CM7 kernel?
answer = I'll have to really defer that one to others,, although I ran several Roms/kernels back then I understood a whole lot less than I think I do now :cyclops:

thank you. you have been the biggest help for me for the past couple of days
oh and CM7 is butter-smooth, btw. didn't know the built-in kernel was gonna be missing voodoo sound, which i kinda want. glitch has it. also the RAM seems to be really low in stock CM7 kernel, like it's only 338 MB. even lower than CM10.1 and stock TWGB, which were 369 and 379 MB, respectively
I pulled my old Vibrant out of a box and thought I'd try to run a newer version on android on it, but I haven't been about to make heads or tails of the development forum. After 3+ hours of fiddling and 3 or 4 programs downloaded, I'm at a loss. The phone currently has Bali kernel and Bionix-V FishmanMod which I loaded on it in 2011 or 2012 and have no recollection of what I did. :silly:
I think my questions are:
Do I need to revert to stock? Because odin refuses to recognize my phone in download mode. It sees it fine when it is booted normally.
Otherwise, what do I need to do to update the kernel and put kit kat on the phone?
If there's anybody out there, thanks and I tried really really hard and I'm just really confused.
I think it would be best for you to go back to stock first.
1. Make sure that your drivers are properly installed
2. Try different usb ports, reboot computer/phone, different usb cable if Odin won't recognise the phone.
Honestly, going back to stock won't help much. Install a JB rom and or kernel and from there install a kitkat kernel then rom. In that order. Make sure you wipe data and cache completely to make sure there isn't any problems.

ICS Kiss does have speed issues. I very much want to update but don't want to go through the plug and chug of finding one I like. If someone can recommend a stable, vanilla, something or other, I'd appreciate it.
