Just out of curiousity, what exactly is it that you're looking for? Changing the font of an outgoing email or just the display font on your device?
if it's the first: Not really a good idea. You can never be sure the device/user you're sending the email to has the appropriate font on his system. Unless Windows Phone is sending emails in html (I am not sure, does it?) it's not even possible. Plain Text emails can not really contain that metadata, can they?
If it's the second: I doubt that will ever happen. Windows Phones distinctive font is the Segoe WP font. MS will most likely never let us allow to modify the font of a built in app, much less the whole system.
The first one! I want to change the font of the outgoing email, the default font is ugly! I understand the problem about the font, but there isn't an option for plain text so...

I changed my font size down to tiny under settings>display>font size, but when I am checking my work email in the default email app, the font displaying the subject and preview still looks huge. Has anyone had any luck in changing this? Thanks!
change the settings for font in email settings.
Ok, it looks like it may depend what kind of account you set up. On exchange, I see an option for text preview size. That is the closest thing I have seen to a font option. On my imap account, I have no option to change anything. Where do u see the option to change font size?
second, the font size in the email app is ginormous by default and there is definitely no option available within the Exchange account settings. changing system font has no effect. the font is so huge it's almost cartoonish.
That is correct. This version of the email app does not have the option. My Note and GS2 does though.

I thought I was crazy not being able to find it. I'm surprised it isn't bothering more people. I feel like I can see less information from it than on my atrix.
Email Font Size
Surprised there is no way to change the email font size! I checked all the settings. Gingerbread has a font size setting in Settings.
Hopefully an update will fix it. The font is hugh now!
On flex's Rom currently but not sure if this is rom specific or what. I keep getting courtesy text saying the recipient has a size limit and might not receive the message when sending pics. It's been happening to people I KNOW I send pics to lately though. Is there maybe a setting I messed up?
Also, what size do I need to resize pictures to to make them wallpaper size? Is there an easy way to do this? I have photoshop on my PC but I really don't want to pul the pic, resize, put it back on my phone every time.
Thank you

This is probably a very picky issue, but I am trying to figure out how to get the signature for my work email to look "just right".
There are controls for changing the font size (10, 12, 14, etc), bold, colors, etc. However, the sizes don't make much sense when I send myself an email (i have Outlook 2010 via an exchange account at work).
If I set a font to 10 in the signature on the phone, when I go into that email on my computer and look at the font size, it is 7.5. There are also some odd things that happen if you go too big.
Is there a good way to fix this?
(I will try to post some screen shots of what I mean later).
Thanks!

I'm not positive, but are you sure that your exchange is set up to use pixels and not pt? My guess is the SS phone uses pixels while your computer is using pt.
OK - here is an ugly attempt to show what I mean:
Attached are screen grabs of the phone and the computer (outlook).
The biggest issue is that it is converting the 10px size in the phone to 7.5 Times New Roman (not sure if points or pixels).

10px = 7.5pt.
i'm not sure why it is doing this, but almost sure it is some sort of issue with px -> pt now.

I have no clue... but now that I see that the px->pt match up, i'm pretty sure that is. I'm unsure if exchange has something where it converts it, or if this is just a glitch on the Samsung side.
when you highlight the 12 text on the samsung e-mail app, does it say PX or PT.

Yeah, just went in to the e-mail app myself and there is no option to change it to pt.
My guess it is something with exchange then. I have no clue since I don't utilize that program, but is there an option to make small texts more readable? Like an accessibility option?
I would try changing that part of the signature that changes to a bigger sized font, send an e-mail, and see if it stays the same. If it works, try changing it back and sending it again to the 10px and see what happens.
This is insanely frustrating for me. The default Touchwiz email app only sends in Times New Roman, but will hold the formatting of any text that you copy and paste from one email into another. Here is an example:
I have an email in my Sent folder that was originally sent from Outlook at the office where my default font is Calibri 11.
I open my Sent folder on my phone, find the email sent from my office computer, and copy my signature from that message.
I then paste my signature into the settings for my Note 2 email app to use for all of my mobile outgoing messages.
When I send an email from my phone, the body of the email will be Times New Roman 12, but the signature will remain Calibri 11.
We're on Exchange 2010 so there are font manipulation options for outgoing email in OWA, but this has no effect on my mobile email.
The device / app clearly has the ability to work well with fonts; there is just a lack of control. If anyone finds a fix, please contact me.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I am suffering from the same problem, if I view the message in Outlook each line of the signature alternates between Calibri and Arial. Crazy!

Not really - sorry! Haven't had a samsung phone for almost 2 years now...
My fiance and I both switched to the iPhone 4S a while back, and today Im switching back to Andorid, to be specific the LG Optimums G. We both really like the emoji in iOS. I have been searching high and low for a straight answer and have yet to find one. I see posts that say, android 4.1 and 4.2 support ios emoji. Ive seen posts that shows screen shots, but the faces are droid guys instead of yellow circles, ive seen posts that say that emoji support is only black and white.
So my questions are;
1. Does android support emoji?
2. If emoji is supported, how are they displayed? (eg. smiles, android faces, black and white, color..)
3. If I use one of the emoji keyboards in the market will it tie into the same emoji used system wide? or do I have to use the dictionary method where I have to type the word for the emoji I want?
4. Is emoji supported system wide or only in the SMS app?
Less Important questions;
1. If they are droid guys, can they be changed to smiley faces through changing the ttf font?
2. If they are black and white is it possible to make them color?
3. Is it just possible to just flat out get the iOS emoji in Android?
Lastly, I cant wait to be a part of the android community again, iOS got really boring really quick!
Here are 2 similar threads that were never answered, so I thought Id link to them as well.

In android they are image files. So you would need a modded messaging app that uses some of the IOS images. Most tend to stay away from them though.

Ok, well is it possible to atleast get them in black and white just using a different font? Ive seen threads about it, but some of them were old, and not to clear. Needless to say ill be rooting the phone as soon as I get it home.

Oh...I thought that the plain black outline emoji were just symbols in a true type font? I know the full color ones use png files, so Im not really expecting to be able to get color. But is there any possible way for me to see at least see similar emoji when i get a message from an ios user?
What about something like this;
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.klncity1.emojifontupdater&hl=en
I found a copy of the "Apple Color Emoji.ttf" if its not against the rules let me know and ill attach a copy of it. However when I opened it in font viewer it was blank so im not 100% on that file. Its probably blank because I dont have the PNG files for the actual emoji icons.
Also I know its a link to another forum, but what about this;
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ge...roid-4-1-ios-how-emoji-works-android-ios.html
Oh they are but they get linked to the system image. Those may work but no promises. The font color will need to be changed system wide to prevent the black. Best bet would be to use a 3rd part SMS app like Handcent. They have an IOS emoji plugin that will work for what you want as well as a ton of other options. (Avoid Go SMS)

I was considering Handcent, except we mostly use KiK because we like to be able to have delivery and read confirmations, not only that but we can text when were on WiFi in areas with bad signal. My thing is, I really don't care if there black, having them in just black is fine by me. Is it possible to get them to work in just black? Also they don't have to even be the same, just so long as there similar. Ive never liked the little droid faces.
Does Handcent have a messaging feature yet, or is it still strictly SMS?
Back when we were both on android we loved Go SMS because of its built in messaging feature, but for iPhone Go SMS is only avaliable for ios 5 and shes on ios 6.1.2, oh and the app is only available if your jail broken of course.
Yes they added a messaging service. I have never used it but it is there.

Really!? That may be a good alternative, because her iphone is jailbroken and handcent is avaliable for jailbroken iphones, and even if your not jailbroken aparently they have handcent messenger in the appstore. Ill have to look more into this. But you may have just made my day! Ill post back with what I find.
OK. So we tried handcent and it worked great full emoji support and all. However we ended up just using facebook messenger, I didnt know this but apparently FB Messenger also supports all the same emoji, but there more of a pastel color instead of bright yellow like on the iphone. FB is just more convent, not only that but the notification sound for handcent messenger on ios is absolutely horrible and you cant change it. I also found that for standard SMS my Optimus G already has emoji support built in, there just black outlines, so no color, but there all there.
Thanks for your help!
Using the Samsung Messages app on my Verizon S9+, I am unable to permanently change the font size in the actual conversation screen. Yes, you can pinch to shrink and expand font size but that gets reset to standard size every time (unlike on the S7 Edge where it remembered your size preference).
Through Settings, you can globally adjust font size but the only Messages screen this affects is the main Conversation screen which shows all conversations. Once you click on a conversation, normal font size is presented. Frustrating for my old eyes...
UPDATE: Ironically, when you adjust Font Size in Settings, if you swipe the sample screen above the sliders, it shows you a sample Messages screen and the font size does change in the sample, but it does NOT change in the actual Messages app. Sounds like a bug to me as they are depicting what I want to do, just doesn't work.
I'd like to use the stock app as it has some features that are unique. There must be a way to change the font size so the setting is persistent, no?
Seeing the same also. Hard for my aging eyes to see.
And also finding it doesn't follow the global setting for size. Same as you.
Same issue. I don't think you can change the font size just for the Message app.
I when back to my beloved and trusted Textra SMS app.
It changes when you change the font size in display settings font.

As I mentioned in my post, this is not true. On my phone, changing the font size in display setting ONLY affects font size in the main Conversations view. Once you click on an actual conversation, the font size returns to the default tiny size.
You can get a newer version on apkmirror.com but it wont allow updating samsung apps for some reson. Anyone have the latest version of messages signed by samsung that will install?
They need ro bring back the S8 messaging app which has this inbuilt feature to adjust text. Wonder, why they ripped off that useful feature.

Hopefully Samsung will acknowledge this bug and release a new version of the app. Clearly the global Font Size Setting is supposed to do exactly this.

It's really not that hard to pinch zoom. Takes a half second. Sure, it'd be nice if it would stick but, c'mon man.
I had a problem with the Background colors in the Messaging ap - some of the themes I like to use are really awesome but when I get to the messaging ap, they used yellow fonts on a white background - nearly impossible to read. I either have to use a different messaging ap entirely (Mood is a pretty good one I found that has TONS of customization options) or just guess at what was written - or change themes.
It's dissapointing that I can't change the balloons or fonts in the messaging ap any more - would be nice if we could - and change font size too - so for now, I am using the MOOD messaging ap and while I prefer the Samsung Stock one better - Mood isn't bad at all.
Its not only internal Messages app, Viber and Hangouts has really small font in input line. Tried increasing font size, tried toying with DPI settings. No idea why its like that and only affecting text input lines, but hope some later update could fix that?
Hi Everyone..I just got the 9 plus and the messaging app is different than it used to be. It is just blue bubbles with white background. It wont let me change anything like before and the setting the background wallpaper for messages is no longer there....is that how everyone else's is?
I also switched to Textra for the all of the customization that it offers. It's a free download so I gave it a try and I've stuck with it since. Just my 2ยข

No, not "come on man". It should work as designed, and has worked since GSI-II.
I use Chomp. Let's you change all of the fonts and sizes, including the message notification pop-up.

I think you mean, "It should work the way I want it to work." It IS working as designed. It's just that you don't like the new design.
That's not to say that I don't agree that it would be better if we could choose a persistent font size. I do.
But we're talking about a split-second pinch out to increase the size.
A split-second.
So, yeah... C'mon.

Thousands of people having to take a split-second to adjust for a design bug every single time? No. You're missing the point.
