LG O1
2.2 stock v10B
Class 2 2GB *default*
1. Installed z4root, ran it, selected permanent root option. Phone rebooted. Started z4root again, it showed temporary root, permanent root and then SuperUser app permission pop up came up. Allowed access. Unroot option came up as the third option below permanent root. Busybox is not installed. Don't see any app named busybox. Is it actually rooted successfully? Only Superuser is installed.
2. ROM Manager v4.4.0.1 downloaded from market. LG O1 recovery image for CWM downloaded from the ftp site and saved in root of sd card. Started ROM Manager (RM) and selected "Flash CWM Recovery". It gave up a list of phones , selected "LG Optimus One" After sometime , the bar behind the title of the app "Rom Manager v4.4.0.1" started loading slowly.
In terms of time, it has taken almost 20 minutes to reach around 30% of the loading bar.
The problem here is, it is loading quite slowly. Is it supposed to be that slow? Superuser pop up for allowing access has not come up yet either after selecting the phone model. Now I don't think I've done anything wrong :S have I?

1. If superuser is installed, yes, your phone is rooted.
2. Use Wifi connection for dowloading the recovery. I used 2G data and I had so many unsuccessful downloads. In Wifi, it would be a matter of a couple of mins. After flashing recovery, do not use ROM manager at all. It has lot of issues. For taking backup and flashing ROMs, use the recovery itself.
Good luck
Unable to use WiFi as laptop has Firewall problems. Can't get a hotspot built. Even this time on third try it failed What does it need to download when the recovery image is already provided in the root of the card?
Should I try using the adb shell method? listed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007244
OR HERE
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942248
UPDATE : Removed ESET completely. Restarted , used CMD to create a WiFi hotspot. Started ROM Manager, and it was done under 10 seconds ? Solved! Moving on to sending ROM to the drive and then flashity flash

NOTE: These rooting methods may not work after you install the OTA.
Use Amon Ra recovery to install superuser
This should give you root for ICS Here
Perm Root Method - Gingerbread only
If you unlocked the bootloader with HTCDev.com then use the OneClickRoot with pure zergRush for perm root exploit
Download - OneClickRoot
Once you are perm rooted you can use the disable, enable, Wireless Tether and adblock options in the tool.
===============================================================================
Temp Root Method
Use the root option in the Tool which is only good for temp root with the locked bootloader.
===============================================================================
Tool
New version of temp root to make it easier to use with more options.
Menu driven including:
Temp root
Disable and enable application and other packages
Wireless Tether
Ad block
See screenshot below for all options.
Temp root now holds until reboot.
Disabled applications hold until enabled.
Updated and Working:
Latest zergRush package
Latest adb inline
Latest Superuser and su binary are installed if not already installed
Latest busybox
Thanks to scrosler for the idea of including the application disabling as part of the tool.
Thanks to con247 and meizu devs for the zergRush script that persists until reboot
NOTE: If this does not work for you try scrosler's or con247's versions. Subtle difference may make one or the other work better for you.
Instructions:

H) Help - Help information
ENTER - Exit
Download Temp Root Tool v2
Ill try it on Wednesday when I get the device. Atleast we can use titanium.
One thing I was thinking is there any way we can boot into custom recovery with temp root? Because I know on one phone that I rooted for someone it would just reboot into a temporary custom recovery from which stuff could be flashed. Obviously if it boot looped you needed to RUU restore but it was worth the trouble to get root.
is this wireless tether app susceptible to verizon identifying unauthorized wifi tether use? I know on other devices only certain ROMS are safe.
Just tried this. Unfortunately it doesn't work at all for me. I tried running Cache Cleaner NG and it said that it was unable to get root permissions. I tried clicking on SuperUser (the app itself) and it FCs every time.
EDIT: Rebooted and tried again and it appears to be working.
EDIT2: Not working again. Seems to only last a few minutes.
Alright enough is enough. Imma try it.now. all this talk about root is driving me nuts. Thanks Nils..

I tried to get temp root using the zerg technique, and it didn't work too good. I want to try this method, but I'm not sure how to remove the Superuser from my first attempt. It doesn't show up as an uninstallable app. Can anyone shed some light for me? Thanks!
its worked for me! though it still didnt mount the SD, so i took off the back lifted the battery a LITTLE and used a paper clip to slide out the sd and then to slide it back in. then i went to TI and it didnt want to work, so i uninstalled and reinstalled both, and then it worked. now i have everything frozen that i wanted.

You know, you can go into SETTINGS>SD & Phone Storage and remount it that way... for next time.
I tried this and mine also unmounted my SD Card and Titanium didn't have root access. Uninstalled Titanium and the phone rebooted on its own and is now in a an infinite boot loop. Guess I am going to have to use HBOOT, wipe the phone and start ALL FREAKING OVER AGAIN! fml

Nils, question. Do I just download the zip file directly to my phones sdcard in the described folder I would create, then install it from there directly from the phone?

To answer this question, yes they do!!!
So let's start a "What can we safely freeze" list. I was pretty conservative the first time:
Blockbuster
Backup Assistant
VCast
VCast Music
Let's Play Golf
Need for Speed
Rebooted and they're all still gone. Root has been lost though, I'd have to re-run the app to get root back.

Awesome. If they stay frozen i can live without soff/root for much longer.
I am having the same issue with applying the update, root installs fine and when I reboot root is gone, along with Superuser, Busybox, etc. installed it a few times and every time I reboot root gets lost.

Thats the whole point of TEMP root. When you reboot, Root is GONE. You have to Re-root every time you reboot your phone.
Hello All
So I got a Nook Tablet. Nice device. I followed the root techniques plus block the OTA. Everything was fine. Started installing apps, loving it, live wallpapers, custom UI, etc etc.
After a few days my B&N shop quit working. Not the end of the world but I wanted it to. At the end of the day I Erased/De-Registered my device.
After the restore I began going through the root process again. Replaced USB drivers, went to Nook & Zergy, it found my device, I started the root and it said I was already rooted, but unfortunately it can not now replace the UI and install all the apps.
I do see the NookZergy zip is loaded with all the APK's. Can those be manually installed now? I need a little NOOB Help. And yes I searched the forums.
Thanks for the help!
The "Erase/Deregister Device" does not actually do a factory reinstall, it just deletes your specific data, and starts from there.
The easiest, but not quickest way to get around this would be to use the 8-failed-bootup recovery. Otherwise, you need to install the One Tap Unroot that is out there. Both of these will trigger a factory reset, and allow you to newly root your Nook Tablet.
Thanks cfoesch
I'm trying the one tap unroot now and must be doing it wrong. I open the APK and do package install. It installs so I open it, it gives me a button to push that shows 'echo worked'
After I reboot I get the following error:
Sorry!
The application Nook Unroot (process com.indirect.nook.unroot) has stopped working unexpectedly. Please try again.
Any ideas?
Did the 8-boot failure method.
Yeah, the one touch unroot will only work if you already have root. Otherwise, it will just stall out.
I've noticed that as well that the Nookunroot.apk will crash if it is installed but not used. Not particularly sure what that's about.

Good morning world,
I rooted my A57 phone few weeks back by following the procedure that is described everywhere on the internet. Since that moment, the phone is pretty stable.
But something interesting happened twice to my phone. Without any particular reason, my phone goes back to a non-rooted state. I notice it because I stop being able to load any application that requires root permissions, like Titanium Backup for example.
TB tries to boot, Superuser grants it the root user permissions but then TB stays stuck on "Asking for root...". Almost same thing happens to ES File Explorer, which cannot mount /system/ as root anymore. Basically, I cannot do anything that requires root access anymore.
I tried many things but the only solution that currently works is to root it again.
Does anyone know why my phone is acting this way ? Is my phone updating and unrooting itself without me knowing ? Can I block this ? Is this a bug of Superuser ? Any idea ?
Thank you very much for your kind help.

Today my s4 lost root out of the blue(i was changing wifi settings at the time).i went to root explorer and its saying i dont have root.I checked Titanium and supersu and they all report its gone.
I had used towelrootv2 i believe, to root my phone.I 've not had any issues with it for about a year now.I froze the service that allows updates so i know it didn't update.
Attached is my phone info. Im really at a loss at how to proceed here, I've spent about 4 hours trying various options but it just dosen't seem to be working.
Trying the towelroot+supersu combo dosent work.Supersu reports there is no su binary.Checking i can verify that no su binary is being created. All "root checker" programs show an empty line for status when checking.I tried motochopper but it failed on the rooting part.I ran the adb commands manually and the result was the same.I run linux, but do have a windows machine available.I dont care about warranty(its already expired) but i would like to retain all data,mms/sms etc.All personal data has been backed up.

Try using toweleoot v3. Get it from this thread and run it and u should gain root http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-to-root-i545vrufnk1-4-4-2-12-1-2014-t2959613

Very odd. I would try to use Odin or Safestrap, but you need all your data... My suggestion is normally Odin, but:
A) You need data
B) Odin seems to be screwing up a lot lately
This problem was because the Security manager was updated thru the play store! It automatically pushes to your device...Then protects against root! You didn't freeze the Security updater in titanium. :/ unfortunately...You may have to back up and start from scratch. I can help you!
I have all the packages from Verizon

It updates the selinix partition, you can try to undo the app update, clear data, then use towelroot....but that would be the best you could do. If that doesn't work...Then you have to start over
