NT Hidden Settings app problem - Nook HD, HD+ Themes and Apps

Hi guys,
I installed the above app on my Nook HD+ (standard OS with no changes) but whenever I try to access anything in the 'Hacks' or 'Cyanoboot Configuration' sections I get the following error:

Besides the fact that NT Hidden Settings is for a Nook NT rather than a Nook HD+, that means it is looking for your OS to be rooted and you said it was not. If you want it to be rooted, go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and flash the universal root.

[Q] Need help installing UrukDroid on A70IT 250gb

As the title says, I need some help installing UrukDroid on my A70IT 250gb. The directions in the developer thread refer to partitioning the SD card, but of course my tablet doesn't have a SD card
Any help would be appreciated, I'm scared to tinker around and brick it
if u just need your archos rooted, install this stock rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930197
It's so much easier and less buggy.
So this will work on our A70 250gb straight without additional hack? isnt our 250gb has harddrive? I am still a bit confused.

I have the 250GB version, and can confirm that the method above works a charm.
The first time takes a bit of time as you need to install the Archos development firmware (or SDE) but after that it is nice and quick.
Just install SDE
Install latest Archos firmware
Download the 'hacked' version from the thread above
Go to the recovery screen on Archos (hole volume down while turning on)
Go to Recovery menu
Go to Developer Edition Menu
Go to Flash Kernel and Initramfs
This will start USB on your Archos, copy the downloaded files to the A70Rec device in my computer
Click OK on Archos
When you start up this time, you get the choice of Android or Development. Choose Development and you will get your rooted Android!
More instructions are on that thread

have you finally installed it?
I'm A70H owner too~~
I'm wondering the same problem with UrukDroid 1.0~~

easy sideloading new way.

Hi guys, just found an easy way to to get the hidden setting for starting the sideload process from browser.
put any app (".apk" file) on the sdcard anyway easy for you, give it an easy short name before actaully moving it to sdcard, so you remember and not make mistake typing it later.
In the Nook Tablet open the browser type: file://localhost/sdcard/appxxxx.apk
Substitute appxxxx.apk with your apk file actual name.
This will bring hidden settings, then choose unkown source and off you go.
This is first step to to root..
Thanks for sharing.
Is "appxxxx.apk" the name of the app we want to side-load or the actual keystrokes we type in? Does this method work after 1.4.1 update?
Its more oriented to 1.4.1 so yes will work because unknown sources its a must in order to sideload from links and applications.

noob here... I also need guidance about the appXXXX.apk. What do I fill in for the XXXX? Can I get an example?
Thanks in advance!!
How did you put the app on the SD card - via your PC? And then do I replace the four Xs with the app name, as in file://localhost/appangrybirds.apk? Can we do this with 1.4.1 unrooted?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume...
"AppXXXX" ... aka "GenericAppName" ... aka "FillInTheBlank" .
I think what he found is that by going through the web browser and into your directory structure, it somehow bypasses the preventative check that would come up and say "BN Store .apks only!".
Could be wrong... i don't have 1.4.1.
edit: from the OP's description, it seems possible, however highly unlikely, that the Settings menu in which you allow unknown sources is accessed by launching an app called "AppXXXX.apk". Again... highly unlikely, but I could see some confusion from the way he typed it.
OP is perfectly clear and this works with rooted 1.4.0. appxxxx.apk means maps.apk.
Thanks MikeCH
Will this work with non rooted 1.41 nook tablet?

Is it possible to get a browser to download directly to the SD card instead of manually having to do it?
dude... just type this in the browser....
nook1.adamoutler.com
nook2.adamoutler.com
nook3.adamoutler.com
Those three addresses will give full functionality to an unrooted tablet with just sideloading. They load: Hidden Settings, homecatcher, and launcherpro.
Have fun.
No joy
Tried this on a stock NT 1.4.1.
file://localhost/appname.apk
Results in "file not found"
file://localhost/sdcard/appname.apk
Does pop the installer selection screen, but then the install is blocked by 1.4.1 just like other side-load methods. Methinks the author doesn't have a stock 1.4.1. Perhaps he has unknown sources enabled from a previous root?

Apxxx.apk means any app xxx is for you to substitute for your .Apk actual name.

Absolutely, just google an apk file and download it. Then go to your browser menu to the downloads and open the file. This should bring the hidden setting too.

I didn't see your answer to "does this work after the 1.41 update?" Can you tell us if:
1. The NT must be rooted
2. The update number , i.e., 1.40 or 1.41
Thanks

I'm going under the assumption that the op has a rooted tablet, since he did not state otherwise.

This is about getting you rooted, and eventually side-load what ever.

See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43326042&postcount=123.
You can also burn a CM10.1 image on SD (e.g., cm_acclaim_10.1_21APR2013_HD_SDC_IMG.7z from at http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2013...-2-jellybean-sdcard-img-for-nook-tablet-0416/) and use its TouchFW flasher app to fix the touch driver.

My issue are 2 things the constant ads that pop up (minor issue) and second is the space, very low space.... I have an 32gb sd card and I'd like to use that as the primary storage, but since the tablet is kit Kat switching the storage around isn't done the same as its done in jelly bean and from what I read it can only be done by flashing in CMW recovery because ads to sd doesn't always work
I have exactly the same your problems! I can't understand why they partition the main memory when they could use the whole space to install apps... And I want to remove that damn ads popups too!
My model is recognized as softwinner "V11", I'd like to know if CM designed for other similiar tablets works...

Hi guys. I've got an a33 quad core tablet badged ciprotec but I know it's allwinner based (obviously). Have you guys managed to get yours rooted? Mine runs 4.4.2 kvt49l. It's OK for messing around on but I need to practice my developing skills!! Cheers!
That tab is should already rooted I have one too but I found the preinstalled root doesn't work properly. Cant remember quite how i got it working but i think i used supersu to delete and reinstall the root script or I might have had to hook it up to the pc with a bit of software for flashing allwinners that I found. When you do have it rooted get gl2sd if your running kitkat so you can use the external sd for some of the bigger app installs rather than the rather small internal sd, but before that make sure the write permissions are enabled to sd there are a few Apps on the market that can do this. Has anybody heard anything on cwm or twrp yet?
Managed to get it done using vroot! Yay!! It's mine at last!
Hi all,
I've rooted my device and accidentally removed the systemui.apk so now my status bar etc is missing.
So far I've been trying to restore it from several Roms and other user posts, however, it looks like as if the model etc has to match my environment. So here I go, could someone post their systemui.apk???
Cheers!

I have this tablet as well, I have it rooted but still have not found a way to get around the ads that popup. Has anyone been able to mod this or delete the script that is causing the ads.

found a link for AllWinner Demo Lock (trojan) Removal Tool cannot post the link because I have not posted 10 posts, but if you google it is easy enough to find.

Windows ADB driver??
I have a new A33 tablet, which I cannot get it rooted, because I cannot find a working Windows ADB driver for it - either for Windows 8.1 x64 or Windows 7 x64.
The MTP driver works (I can transfer files), but I cannot find the "Android" driver for the ADB connection.
I tried the Rockchip "RK driver assistant" - no luck.
If you have a working ADB connection to an Allwinner A33 tablet, could you perhaps share the Windows ADB drivers here?
TIA

Try this
A33 Twrp
I made a TWRP for A33, A23,A20 and A31s models over on TechKnow . Some of them are posted but I think I have yet
to post all of them on the Public Downloads... I will make an effort to get them all posted soon. Offhand I do not
recall the specs I used though I am thinking all used gslx Touchscreens.. I will post here again the specs of the Tabs
they are for and a link to where they are posted once I am sure they are up ... The delay in posting them has
been the installer, I was working with another person since I have no A33 on making an installer that will
work on all of the tab models from ADB, also I am working pretty heavily on A31s Dev at present and have
allowed my other projects to fall behind even though some are essentially finished as in this case.
Thanks

[Q] [HELP] Azpen 1023

Azpen A1023
Hello. Is anyone aware of a way to get rid of the persistent softkeys in landscape more. I press them by accident all the time and it's quite annoying. Even if I can't get rid of the entire thing it'd be at least a comfort to get rid of the damned Screenshot key.
Any ideas or solutions?
Thanks in advance.
*BUMP*
SDK for Allwinner CPUs?
Now will this aid in someone creating a custom image for a Azpen A1023 or something else neat like a custom Kernel/CWM/TWRP or anything to help?
Sent from my A1023 using XDA Free mobile app
I figured it out! "Kingo root" one click roots our azpen a1023. then install Xposed framework, and install gravitybox. enable "hide navigation bar" under expanded desktop. add expanded desktop to your quick tiles, PROFIT!
Tried that awhile ago, didn't work well for me. Just got a Nexus 7 2013 Monday, so I can use this to tinker with
Sent from my A1023 using XDA Free mobile app
I also tried Kingo Root and was unsuccessful. In my case, it recognizes the tablet and then attempts to connect to it forever without success.
Ultimately, I've found very little about rooting the A1023. There seems to have been some progress with the A700 that looks promising, but, beyond that, this thread is one of the few pertinent Google results on this subject. So while getting CWM/TWRP up and running with a device like this is outside of my skill set, I just wanted to chime in as another user who'd greatly appreciate seeing this device rooted.
Root for Azpen a1023
First go to Kingroot . net once there scroll down until you see something called "KingRoot" download this it will be an apk. Once downloaded put that apk on your sd card. Now put the sd card in your tablet and find it with your file manager. Now all you need to do is run this apk. But first and most importantly make sure before you run the apk your connected to the internet or it will not work.
O yea just remembered and to possibly save some future questions. When installing busybox from stericson be sure you install busy box to system/bin not the default system/xbin.
And just a question for the people who have an Aspen a1023 that came out with kitkat 4.4 firmware, could you please upload the recovery image? When i got my Azpen a1023 it came with Jelly bean 4.2. And I'm only asking because the Azpen website doesn't have the firmware on it. It has Jelly Bean 4.2 but not the latest KitKat 4.4. Which isn't good because if you don't have a back up saved your going to have to revert back.
Like most allwinner devices this one come with root access enabled across adb stock. If you open an adb shell and enter the su command it should give you the # prompt instead of $. All you need to do is swap out the stock su binary for superuser's or supersu's using adb push and install its apk, you can use adb or playstore, run it and full access root is achived. You can search xda for a simular method using the azpen a700 it will be the same for the azpen a1023
Firmware Update
Can Stock lollipop be sideloaded? or is there some version of the os beyond Ics?
Azpen's latest version on their site page for this tab hints at no, but other pages lead one to question that their tablets can be upgraded to at least kitkat, but for the life of me cannot find a prebuilt image for this tablet (found one for several others). am i the only one thinking this tablet doesn't get much love?

I dont know. But I actually wonder is there are system requirements for different android versions. Im sure there is. Would it even be feasable to have Lollipop on the A1023?
