Ok thought i would post my own thread to see if anyone can help me.
I have a S3 from Three UK. Was running on stock Three rom. I flashed it with the latest non branded S3 rom. Now the WB-AMR setting is off and i cannot turn it on even though it was on as default in the Three branded rom.
What i want to know is will the WB-AMR only be switched on on the Three branded rom or could i for example keep the unbranded rom but flash the Three CRC to get the hd voice enabled? Or is this setting contained within the actual rom itself, therefore i would need to go back to the branded rom to obtain the hd voice? Im slightly confused. Any help appreciated.
CSC can be flashed as standalone. See the rom guide.

Sorry i already know this (should have said) but is the HD Voice option stored on the actual rom or the csc? Dont want to flash the CSC to the stock branded Three rom incase it doesnt work then i have to install everything again. What exactly does the CSC do?

CSC
Probability is that the network have put any add ons in the cache file part of the CSC file .
CSC files can be opened for a look see .
Cache extractor post in dev section probably .

Opened a 3 CSC and it shows as below in part other networks have no mention of WBAmr .
It also has an MH 20 -ICS-HHp application in the add on apps folder .

So would i be correct in thinking that flashing the original Three CSC will give me back my HD voice and i can use this in conjunction with the latest unbranded rom? If i done this would i be able to continue to get updates via Kies or OTA or would this cease seeing as im not using the supplied CSC with the rom?
Thanks for your help btw. Appreciate it :good:
Ok i flashed the stock Three CSC but when i go into change the CSC it still lists the same options as before. I.E BTU,CPW,DBT,ITV,KOR,XEF,XEO.
Phone is still on CSC I9300OXABLG8. Im even more confused now.
Ok spent more time with the phone and managed to get the Three CSC onto the phone with the latest unbranded firmware. It didnt however re-enable WB-AMR (HD VOICE) so i flashed it back. It would appear that it is enabled in the rom. Why it isnt enabled as standard i have no idea seeing as the phone supports it.
What are you doing to check and enable the setting? And did flashing the CSC wipe your device?
I don't understand why Samsung have disabled WB-AMR on unbranded devices.
The hardware obviously supports this feature, so why not at least have it as a settings option? Most networks here appear to support it.
I'm also with THREE UK and I'd like to use HD-Voice, but WB-AMR is disabled.
The phone is smart enough to load all the other settings (e.g. service centre numbers) related to my network, so why not WB-AMR?
Yes, I know I could flash a different ROM, but I don't want the operator bloatware or any theoretical risk of losing warranty.

I was going into the service menu via the code i found on here. There is no option to turn on WB-AMR. I can see the menu but pressing Audio doesnt do anything and when i go into the WB-AMR menu it is turned off with no way to re-enable it.
Flashing the CSC did wipe my device.
Im still waiting on Samsung to get back to me. Over a week now with no reply from them.

What code did you use to bring up the service menu. Im on a JB rom and the ones i've tried give the error "Connection problem or invalid MMI code"
1-be sure that THREE support HD Voice
2-flash the latest THREE stock rom
3-root it
4-copy the /system/csc folder and the /system/SW_Configuration file to your external SDcard
5-remove all the bloatware apk (also look for branded bootanim, ringtones, ...) from the csc folder on your external SDcard
6-flash the stock rom you want
7-root it
8-delete all the content of your /System/csc folder
9-now push back the content of the folder and the file you have previously copied on your external SDcard
10-now you have to make a hard reset to aplly the CSC settings. There is 2 way for that depending on what was in the THREE /system/csc folder
10a-first way: open dialer and dial *#272*YOURIMEI# and select your CSC and hit "apply"
10b-second way (only if first one does not work): restart in recovery and make a factory reset
11-you're done
You should now be with your unbranded rom without THREE customization but with THREE csc settings (APN, HD Voice, Fast Dormacy, ...)
I do that on my phone and I now run Stock XXBLG8 with SFR (french carrier) settings and no bloatware or customization
Thanks Mopral i had seen you posting that in another thread but it isnt suitable for myself. I dont fancy having to do that everytime a new firmware is out , i quite like getting OTA updates with limited hassle. It is a solution but one we shouldnt have to do considering the phone and my carrier support HD voice.
*#197328640# is the code i used to get into the service menu. Im still on ICS so no idea if it works with JB.
There has GOT to be a way to turn on the setting without flashing CSC....

Not sure...
It seems that there is no access to this settings on the SGS3
So until someone find a solution, there is only the hard way...
From the Three Website:
What do I need to get HD Voice?
HD Voice capable phone
A phone that originated from Three (unlocked phones now being used on Three won’t work)
The latest phone software available
Calling on the Three network
Although I do agree there has to be an easier way to enable this if anyone knows could you please pm me. Thanks!
Apologies for the bump, but this has been a VERY useful thread for me today, and I wanted to add something.
I had been using CM10 for a while which supports HD voice without any issues (CSC is only for Samsung ROMs) but then I moved to Omega ROM for various reasons, and the one thing I missed was HD voice.
I managed to get it working, based on Mopral's excellent steps below, but without wiping my internal memory and also without wiping data.

Here's what I did:
1. Used the code *#197328640# to get to the service menu. [8] WB-AMR Status showed "WB-AMR Setting: OFF".
2. Did a nandroid backup of my current Omega ROM v30 (DLJ2) setup using CWM Touch 6.0.1.2.
3. Flashed the I9300XXDLJ1 Three UK official stock Jelly Bean release found in this thread using MobileODIN (checking all EverRoot and SU Injection options).
4. Using Root Explorer, copied /system/csc folder and the /system/SW_Configuration file to my external SDcard.
5. Did a nandroid restore of my current Omega ROM v30 setup using CWM Touch 6.0.1.2.
6. Using WinRAR on my PC, I created a copy of the Omega ROM v30 zip file and deleted the contents of /system/app. Then I dragged and dropped the files from my external SDcard into the zip file to this location (using the "Add and Replace" feature of WinRAR). Did the same for the /system/SW_Configuration file.
7. Flashed this new customised Omega ROM zip over the top of my existing setup that I had just nandroid restored. I did NOT wipe data.
8. After booting, I used the code *#197328640# to get to the service menu again. [8] WB-AMR Status now shows "WB-AMR Setting: ON". Rang my wife on her S3 to test it, HD voice working perfectly!
I hope somebody finds this useful.
I have flashed the official 3 JB ROM using ODIN, so have the 3 CSC. I did not wipe. However, HD-Voice is still off. If I do a factory reset, will it get switched on?

Greetings;
In first place If you've already checked your device language settings; and no Spanish language is installed; then i sugest you to Flash a new Stock or Custom Rom.
I would check first if samsung website has European or South America Firmware Roms.
If not:
(I've made a few searches around
I guess that this may help you:
1) Get this app on Google Play: "Set Locale"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEwNCwiY29tLmJydWNlLnNldGxvY2FsZSJd
2) I haven't checked wich Android version is installed but if it's Android 4.0; and Language is set to Chinese... This may help you:

You may also want to Flash a new Rom...

Hello,
I probably did some mistake which I don't know how to solve.
After I installed a new ROM I get message „Slot 1: No SIM card detected“, „Slot 2: No SIM card detected“.
„SIM management“ is inoperable, „Sim Toolkit“ can't launch because it cann't detect SIM card.
Calling emergency number gets „Out of service area“.
Everything else works just fine (including WiFi) except I can't get SIM card to work and get signal.
Information about the phone:
FEITENG GT H9500
Android version 4.2.1
Baseband version MOLY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V6.P4
Kernel version 3.4.5 [email protected] #1
Build number drx_0.1
I have both IMEIs and IMEI VS visible
CWM v6.0.2.8
What I did prior to loss of SIM card functionality:
- Made backup of „user data“, cca. 350MB
- Rooted the phone using instructions as follows:
1.Download usb driver ----> mirrorcreator.com/files/RJDKYXRH/ and open Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00.rar and run install.bat it install driver automatically
2. Plug your phone to pc
3.Download this file ----> mirrorcreator.com/files/09XPAELB open Motochopper_Auto_Root.rar and run run.bat your phone has root
(Quote: lagania)
- Downloaded ROM update FEITENG H9500 - Update - 06/01/2013 and Recovery from:
needrom.com/mobile/feiteng-h9500-3/
- Followed instructions:
Unpack FlashTools, and Click on Flash_tool.exe
Select a the MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt in Recovery
Turn off your phone, remove the battery.
Press F9 (or hit Download button) and connect your phone into the computer via USB data cable.
The process will start and a red progress bar will appear after color purple, yellow.
And green circles display
- Installed ROM from SD card ( in CWM)
- NOTE: I downloaded only update file H9500_DRX_03, and in „Flashtool“ only „Recovery" option was checked. I don't remember was the SIM card inside during installation of the ROM (probably wasn't).
- FlashTool V3.1252.1.sn104
- I installed that ROM with most of its options and wiped data and cache before installation.
- ROM got installed and after restart I lost SIM card visibility.
- No external damage was done to SIM slot.
What I tried to fix it:
- Tried different SIM cards from anothers phones
- Tried my SIM card on other phones to make sure that it works
- Format eMMC
- At „factory mode“ Detect SIM test failed
- Did wipe data/cache several times before and during attempts to install different roms
- Tried installing another ROMs (with SIM card in and without), all with „clean install“.
- During installation (download and upgrade) of ROMs from FlashTool selected all options (preloader,mbr,ebr1,uboot etc.)
- Tried installing „original“ ROM from: needrom.com/mobile/feiteng-h9500
However it said „Installation aborted“ but I see the ROM was installed.
- I have only saved /acct , /mnt , /system from old system that work
What I did wrong from what I know:
- I didn't backed up old ROM that I got with my phone
- I did „Download“ with update ROM v3 and not the initial version
- I didn't do „download“ the first version and then „Upgrade“ the rest of upgrades (I don't know is that relevant)
- I did not selected all options (preloader,mbr,ebr1,uboot etc.) in Flashtool except for „recovery“ when I first installed the ROM if that is relevant
So, I don't konw is there any relevant information I can provide since I honestly don't know what can be relevant and what not.
Is there something that can help with this?

Hello fellow ROM modders,
Problem- This phone has only 2 languages, English and french and I will pay you *if you show me/teach me how to _ADD_ language to a ROM*
I have a Canadian G925 W8 model phone, i need to enable different languages at system level in it( so that i can see all languages at first setup screen).
Now i have tried following things:
1. root
2. Install language enabler _ DIdn't work
3. install morelocale2 _ DIdn't work
4 flash csc selector _ DIdn't work
5 flash custom rom _ worked - but i do not want to flash custom ROM
6. tried flashing system.tar from closest ROM of other variant TMOBILE g93 <- this brought all languages but wifi stopped working
7 tried copying csc folder from g925w8 model to /system/csc but that did not make wifi work.
8 Tried flashing csc folder but it saying in ODIN - unsupported dev_type
After trying options 2,3,4 I couldnt get language(i want) at setup screen, so I had no option but to install custom rom.
Now,
i unpacked system.tar and repacked it in my UBUNTU MACHINE but that didnt work either.
this is all i can do with my knowledge,
if someone can help me in unpacking, repacking, adding languages in stock Rom
Please PM me if you have time and knowledge to do so and help me out.
I will pay you $$$

Change your region via full OTA.
You do everything at your own risk, I am not responsible for any damages. The Chinese version cannot be changed in this way, please use this guide.
This guide allows you to change region within one Android version or upgrade without unlocking the bootloader. Android 13 prepackaged OTA files for India and EU regions will be listed here. If you want to switch to another region, you can ask the author of the post or edit the OTA file yourself according to this guide.According to this guide, user data will not be deleted.
Spoiler: Editing the payload-properties.txt file in full OTA
Download the full OTA from this link Move it to your device's internal memory To edit you will need an advanced device manager that you can download from the Play Store
Through the file manager, we find the OTA file that we are going to edit. Click on the file and open it in the manager, 3 files will open. Click on payload-properties.txt and change the line oplus_update_engine_verify_disable=0 to 1
We save in the upper right and you leave. The edited file will update in about 3 minutes. There may be an update error and there will be two zip archives in the folder, nothing wrong with that! We will keep both files but select the file without tmp to update.
Instructions : 1. Download the full OTA of the desired region and put it in the root directory of the internal memory.
RMX3301_11_C.20_IN
RMX3301_11_C.19_EUEX
RMX3301_11_C.19_RU
2. Installation of the OPLocal_ Update application. Go to your smartphone's settings, then Apps > Management. applications, 3 dots and check Show System ! Look for SOFTWARE UPDATE and clear this app's cache and data! Then install the OPLocal_ Update app for Android 12 or 13 (choose the version that is current on the device)
OPLocalUpdate_For_Android12.apk
OPLocalUpdate_For_Android13.apk
3. Installing an update through a third-party application! Next, open the app we installed and update it through it (gear top right and select the .zip file in the root directory of the internal memory), an installation window should appear! If everything is fine, the process will start and you will be prompted to restart your smartphone after installing the update. Installation takes 20-30 minutes.
After restarting your smartphone, you are in a new region.
It is recommended to flash the firmware file twice to flash both slots!
Many thanks to 4pda forum members KRD_RUS and [email protected] who created the tutorials.

Excellent tutorial. This was the only way possible, I was able to change the Rom from Global (previously Chinese) to INDIA region.
Thanks pal for all your help!
What is the point of changing to India region? Does the india rom have built in call Recorder?
I chose these regions because of the GDPR version and export.
Call recording has RU version.

Only RU has call Recorder?
How does this affect ota security updates?
The RU version has recording for sure.
OTA will run smoothly.
With this procedure I won't need to unlock the bootloader? So does that mean that NFC and banking apps don't work perfectly?
Yes, they will work without problems.
Hello
You only linked India and EU roms, is the RU rom available somewhere ?

You can
Does Russia have C 12 or only C 08 because Realme wont update due those stupid sanctions?
The Realme server only offers C.08, but C.12 should arrive by air.
Hi! I'm on GDPR version (GT2 RMX3311) and I wold like to unlock the bootloader by switching region to India, unlock via deep testing apk, and flash back the GDPR firmware, will this work? Will the bootloader remain unlock if I flash gdpr fw back?
Tried it, it doesn't work for GT 2.
@daniml3 tried it
So, I flashed the Indian ROM and all was fine, except that RIL didn't work, so l didn't have a working SIM and neither an IMEI, so I couldn't unlock the bootloader as it needs a working IMEI for that.
