Hey!
Now my device is installed as Xperia Mini, when device is on, is this the right driver?
When not installed (before I press Install PC Companion software on this computer)
it shows up as Sony Ericsson sa0102 ADB Interface Driver, and I have the option to choose between similar named drivers, non of which works. This doesnt seem right?
What driver should the device use before PC-Companion installs the Xperia Mini driver?
In flashmode, the device is installed as Android ADB device. This seems right if you follow other tutorials/guides!
But I still cant flash/root nor unlock bootloader.
I know I need to downgrade the stock software version .62 to either .42 or .58 (The latter I couldnt find, so I will try .42 fw)
Bootloader unlock allowed: yes
USB debugging: ON
Unknown sources: ON
USB connection mode: MSC
Driver signature enforcement: OFF
Flashtool -> Throws error both on BLU and Flash, says my bootloader cant be officially unlocked
Doomlords v.4 -> Cant chmod/copy/install, but it seems it can push zergRush, if that means it "transferring" the app to the device
SE Bootloader_Unlocking_Relocking -> Throws exception when trying to flash, and hangs when I try to unlock the bootloader
SuperOneClick -> Shows half the process of zergRush then hangs, doesnt matter the method (zergRush, psnauter, GingerBreak)
fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version-> stuck at < waiting for device >
But "adb devices" shows the device! Is there a way to flash, root or unlock the bootloader with ADB?
This part might be the source of the whole mess!
Another problem im facing, probably highly crusial, when I try to upgrade the stock firmware neither PC-Companion nor SE update service can finish the upgrade!! It doesnt recognise my device when I being prompted to connect my phone in flashmode. I'm stuck here...
This might be a problem someone has encontered, and might share som insight in!?
When solved, I'll edit this thread to be "for those who facing the same issues as I'm doing!" And explain the exact details how and which drivers to install, and when!
And if I dont solve it, I'll think I'm gonna give Sony Ericsson a call after I posted on there official forums!

Sorry, i'm still on xperia x10 mini pro, just asking why is that? I mean, with x10 family, the only thing it needs is to use superOneClick and flash the rom from clockwork or xrecovery. With 2011 lineup, it's like that we need to unlock bootloader first using fastboot etc.. Why is that? Can anybody share with me?

There is new rooting method for 2011 xperia without unlocking bootloader.
So now we have choices, unlock bootloader or not, depends on your need.
Regarding your question why we need to unlock bootloader before rooting is because they haven't found a security hole at that moment.
Now don't bother to unlock bootloader if what you want is just rooting the phone, unless you want to flash a custom kernel

Hey, I'm new in this section and I want to unlock bootloader for flash custom Kernel but my phone (SK17i) doesn't want boot in fastmod.
I cant unlock because nothing happens when I hold up & plug usb. Led just gone gren and logo battery charge appairs. As result, comand "fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version" stay on <Waiting for device>.
However when I hold DOWN & plug usb, driver "SEMC Fash Device" appairs on device manage for 30 seconds and battery logo appairs.
I've already debranded my "Orange" phone with "X10FlashTool" for a généric 4.0.2.A.58 and rooted it.
Maybe it's a driver problem ? But y tried on 2 pc several time..
Somone can tell me exactly what is the name of the driver on device manager ?
I have "SEMC Fash Device" when I plug my phone and "Sony Ericsson seehcri Control Device" always here.
Sorry for my bad english, if somone can help !
Devilo.
You dont have fastboot on your phone atm. You need to pay someone to enable fastboot.
Search forum next time.
I am assuming your phone can be bootloader unlocked and you have unlocking key from sony.
If you don't know then refer to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159

yes, turn off your phone then connect USB while pressing specific key.
same applies for fastboot method
When I am installing drivers, I am getting "don't install or install anyway", I choose install anyway but the same window comes up again. Should my phone be turned on, off or in flashmode or something?

did u check that your device can be unlocked or not?
Yes I checked, it can be unlocked
If you have installed Flashtools and its drivers correct you shouldn't get any driver prompts when plugging the phone in
Assuming you did a default install browse to C:\Flashtool\drivers and execute the drivers file. Make sure you select the drivers for you phone ie "Xperia U" and scroll to the bottom of the list and select Flashboot and Fastboot drivers. From what I have seen so far most people are not installing these 3 drivers.
karimkahale: I would go back to the Sony website and get your unlock code again. Maybe you entered some wrong details...

Thank you for this tutorial mate!
It's better if we can get unlock key from flashtool

Thanks a million, but would my warranty be void immediately after I unlock the bootloader, what's the regulation about this matter, I'd like to keep my warranty.
---------- Post added at 10:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:45 AM ----------
If i relocked the boot loader the warranty wouldn't be void, right?
Not quite;
It all depends on your repairman...
The standard, though, is, that the warranty is valid if the guys at the repair center can flash a stock ROM (.ftf) onto the phone. Some phones can do this without their bootloader being locked, but some can't do this after their bootloaders are unlocked, even if they are locked back afterwards...
Now, I have a question:
I'm having the same error as karimkahale...
Whatever I do, I get that stupid error, and not even Sony can help me (their support team (that needs a week to reply to a simple e-mail) said that thy don't know how to help)...!
Thanks a lot for the guide, it was really helpful!
Cheers!

Help me I can't seem to choose unlock bootloader from the plugin button?
MyWT19i Sony Ericsson Walkman is rooted.
phone s/w version: 1250-5829_4.0.2.A.0.62 Generic - user
S1 Boot version: 1241-3656 R9A029
Rooting status: Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes
I can connect to it via adb but I cannot get fastboot to reply even though the label under the battery says 11W42. My device is running stock rom android 2.3.4
When I press menu after it is switched off and connect my WT19i via a usb cable to my pc and then type
fastboot devices
I get nothing coming back.
Any ideas?
If it is booted then via a usb cable I can connect to it and do adb shell. Then I can also do su.
I do not know how to restore com.android.settings and I do not know how to unlock the bootloader since fastboot does not respond. Can anyone guide me?
Is there any way of getting the bootloader working via adb?
Then I could probably flash anew Rom.

I managed to repair the phone. By downloading "Sony PC Companion" and then asking it to reinstall the phone's software. The phone was flashed automatically with stock Android 2.3.4 , Now it all works again.

But I still cannot get bootloader to unlock :crying:
I am unable to install the fastboot drivers on my Window7!
But ADB drivers worked.
Dear XDA Developers,
I recently purchased an xperia pro mk16i from china, through ebay.
When trying to unlock the bootloader through fastboot; it already was.
The phone came with android 2.3.4, (in dutch, my native language, which struck me as odd) I believe.
I followed a tutorial to install sailfish, and all was fine; but I skipped a step that asked for stock android ICS to make sure the partition layouts and firmware was correct.
Trying to go back to stock and flashing a ftf for my phone with flashrom is where the trouble started, I never managed to flash anything through flashrom, despite trying everything I could find. (no driver issues)
Where I am now:
-I can flash a boot.img through fastboot, and cyanogenmod just fine (everything boots) but my touchscreen won't work
-Flashrom mentions an unofficial bootloader, and gives an error relating to loader.sin when trying to flash anything.
-Trying 'repair my phone' in sony pc companion states at the last moment (when connecting phone in flashmode) that there is no software available for my phone
How can I fix my phone again?
I tried emma; which mentions my phone is locked; though the bootloader has to be unlocked for I have used a custom rom.
flashtool mentions a nonstandard loader as well.
I think I somehow have a strange nonstandard but patched bootloader.
How do I flash a stock bootloader so I can unlock it properly, and flash a stock rom/ftf?
This keeps getting worse; I can't enter fastboot anymore (and cwm too)
that happened after trying restore in s1tool.
since then, my bootloader version is in capital R, not small r, indicating it is locked.
trying the unlock method with testpoint appears to work, however after disconnecting the phone, it resets back to R4A069
trying to flash with s1tool flashes adsp.sin correctly, but gets stuck on the loader just like flashtool
FATAL ERROR [ SECURITY_CLASS: SIN_HEAD_VER, Failed_to_verify_sin_header ]
I removed loader.sin from the ftf archive and flashed it with s1tool and it worked!
I forgot about simlock.ta, so I flashed that too :/
anyways, phone boots now, touchscreen still doesn't work, I have usb debugging / can access adb now, but I still can't boot into fastboot.
Hi,
I'm quite new to the world of custom roms and I would appreciate some help to get my z3 tablet working again. I wanted to install this ROM as my Z3 was still running on Lollipop with no update in sight.
I managed to unlock the bootloader following the instructions from Sony's homepage and I was able to flash TWRP using the version provided in the thread linked above. Unfortunately now I can neither boot into recovery nor do anything else with the tablet except start the fastboot mode (solid blue light after holding power up and connecting the power cable).
Is there any whay to start TWRP? Did I use the wrong image? I'm on Windows 7 64-bit. Thank you for your help!
I used this solution to get out of the very same situation on my SGP611.
If your tablet is soft bricked, stuck at boot, restart display SONY and keep restarting you can do the bellow steps, but after that you will need to root and install TWRP again.
To turn off your tablet which is keep restarting, press and hold POWER and VOLUME UP until the tablet vibrates 3 times and turns off.
On your PC open Sony Xperia Companion, click Software repair, check My device cannot be detected or started, Next, chose Xperia phone or tablet, Next, check I know my Google credentials, wait until instruction are displayed how to connect to your PC.
Make sure your tablet is turned off, press and VOLUME DOWN while connecting the USB cable to PC, when the program starts the next step you can release the VOLUME DOWN.
Now wait and do not disconnect the tablet from PC.
Hi, I used Lightheadeds link and I managed to install the stock rom that way. I also tried luk71s solution but Xperia Companion did not work because my tablet has an unlocked bootloader.
Many thanks, I now have a working tablet again!!!

Since you already unlocked your bootloader it makes sense that you do not have an OEM unlock option. In developer settings you must enable USB debugging and reboot in bootloader mode to flash twrp. What happens if you send the command 'fastboot devices'?
Thanks for replying my Sos.I did not have the unlock oem optoon before unlocking the bootloader. When I write adb devices the computer sees it in normal mode but does see the tablet in fastboot mode.

I checked my tablet and it has no OEM unlock option either, so maybe it is simply not implemented. This means you should be able to unlock.
To see your tablet in fastboot mode you must install the correct drivers on your PC. For me the easiest way was to install Flashtool from www.flashtool.net. It has an option to install drivers and it is also useful if you want to go back to stock. You may also want to backup your TA partition if you consider returning back to a pristine state.

Z3 tablet Root 2018
So I finally managed to root my lovely and Tiny Tablet. Info those interested.
Step by Step. My machine Windows 10 Pro 1803 : Did not work with this computer and changed on a second one Same windows Pro 1803
that does not mean it will not work on yours)
Phone is Z3 Tablet Compact with Marshmallow.
A On Computer
1 Installed Flashtool 64
2 Installed ADB FlashTool 5contains drivers also)
3 Installed Phones Driver (it may be included with Flash tool)
4 Installed Sony Flashtool
5 Unlocked Bootloader with Flashtool or Go to Sony's Site to obtain Unlockboot loader Code. Sorry Too long to explain ( I used Flashtool)
6 Downloaded SGP621_23.0.1.A.0.167_CE.ftf or other Firmware that fits you xperia device with Sony Flashtool :: ATTENTION This downgraded my phone to Android 5 Lollipop.
ON Phone
If you are here, you already know that you have to unlock your Developper mode, Allow Debbuging mode, Allow mock locations, Go to de security option and allow Unkown sources.
1 Installed Kingroot 4.50 (Install it even if Google says it may be dangerous)
2 Ran Kingroot 4.50 IT IS NOT the latest but it worked for me on Android Lollipop. (I had tried the lastests versions of Kingroot, Kingoroot, and other it did not work on Marshmallow and it did not work for me)
It did not work the first time. SO i tried a second time as proposed and it then worked.
2 bis I rebooted verified with a root checker afterwards: Rooted Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees
3 Then downloaded Root checker, Titanium Backup, Rom Manager, Official TWRP,SuperSU,Busy Box
4 Once rooted, I removed purify that came with Kingroot and other bloatwares and Installed the above apps. You don't have to do it but that is what I did.
As from here, you choose what you want to do. You are FREE to debloat and install what you want.
I will like to thank all the developpers on this site and thoses who a have showed my ways to find a solution. It is not always clear. But atleast they have tried.
So I am transmitting my experience for others.
Second stage finding the best Nougat or Oreo setup for me in a week or two.
Have a nice day
