So, long story short I rooted my phone with the sole intention of getting rid of bloatware... I did that, and along with it deleted something I now regret. I deleted the file that allows you to choose live wallpapers(along with the wallpapers themselves.) Is there anyway for me to get this back without having to lose my phones current state? Thank you in advance.

It's not allowing me to install it! Whenever I go to install it on my phone, it says the install fails.
Have you checked Install From Unknown Sources? I think it's under security options.

If you are trying to replace a system app, you probably need to push it to system and set permissions as rw- r-- r--. Many system apps will not install.
Thank you sir. I knew there was something I was forgetting.

How do I go about doing that? I appreciate the help you guys are giving me.
You need a root level file browser app like ES File Explorer or Root Explorer. Navigate to where you have the file on your phone (I recommend putting it somewhere easy to find like Downloads folder), copy the apk (long press, select Copy). Go to the root of your phone. It's named / just that symbol. Then scroll down to system, tap that. Then tap app. Inside the /system/app folder paste the apk. Depending on which file browser you have, you change permissions differently.

Everytime I try and change permissions of anything it says "Sorry, operation failed." any thoughts?
Mount system as RW. Default is RO (Read Only as opposed to Read Write).

ok, since you pushed it to system/app, there is no need to install the apk, just reboot your phone

Do you mean the set permissions check boxes? Then long press the pasted app and select permissions. Then select the desired permissions (generally user-rw, group-r, other-r, for system apps). Then just reboot the phone.

Is there any way to get the battery and data manager setting back on eclipse .6 (not remix)? I love this rom and it has probably been the best one yet. I just need to be able to turn my roaming on so I can at least get some signal. Lol.
Anyone know of a zip that I can just flash?
Wut do?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Download remix or an earlier version of eclipse that had the file, copy it to your data folder on your device and set permissions.
I true doing that before, but how dining set permissions?

Use a file manager, like root explorer

No, I mean like, how would I do it? Like, I know how to get the thing up to change permissions, but what would I change them to? Like, how would i know what to set permissions to?
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
this should help you out yondercomesthetrain, I apparently haven't been a member long enough to post a link so ill write it out for ya
this is a step by step on how to set permissions using root explorer
-follow what sakth said and download the earlier version that file or files, and put it/them on your sd card of your phone, and unmount from your computer
-then download root explorer if you haven't already and install, otherwise open the app
-navigate to sdcard in root explorer, copy the file that your put on your sd card earlier
-navigate to the data folder of your system, and click mount r/w, and then paste
-look for the new file you just pasted in system/data, and do a long press on the file untill a window pops up
-Select Permissions, and change them to rw-r–r–
-follow the same directions if there are multiple files that need to be copied and and have permissions changed
hope that helps ya out
Dude, thank you so much for the step by step. It took a little trial and error for me to get it all down together, but your directions really helped me out a lot. but now I have the Battery and Data manager setting again. Again, thank you so much. You have been a huge help. If I wasn't using tapatalk, I would use the thank you button. As a matter of fact, I might just thank you when I get to a computer. You made my day.

Ohh, my mistake.
So havent see this posted but just letting you guys know if you wanted to customize your User Interface (ui) sounds if your rooted. Go to /system/media/audio/ui and you can add sounds to that folder. Just make sure you name it the same as it is in the folder and that its mp3 format. Also make sure you mount it as R/O with root explorer so u can delete notifications/ringtones from their respective places. Another thing is if u delete the notifications or ringtones that are stock you can still get OTA it eont affect it.

i keep this message "you cannot paste here because the file system is read only." it says its mounted as r/o
I think the op meant r/w (read write) and not r/o (read only) as you can't make modifications when r/o.

I have my custom ringtones that I use, and it's annoying trying to scroll through all the stock ringtones. I have ES File Explorer and when I go to delete all those ringtones says those files can't be deleted? Won't even let me delete that folder as a whole.

It's a root feature isn't it? Try using Root Browser Lite or something that has root access. Not sure if ES does.

Make sure you have root access enabled and system mounted as writable.
They are in ES file explorer's settings all the way at the bottom.

I thought he said "custom ringtone" which should be in the user /sdcard/media/ringtones directory.
I don't why he couldn't delete it.
He only wants to use the custom ones. He wants to get rid of the stock ones. Adding a no media would work too.

I must be doing something wrong, can't figure this out. Even the instructions on here and videos online I find seem to be for older version of ES File b/c it looks nothing like mine. They say to go to settings, check off root explorer and check mount file systems.... there's no settings like that in my settings.
There's another option on mine through "fast access" where you click root explorer and gives you options like one key install, mount r/w etc. But not sure, see what you guys say before I play around with it lol.

They revamped all the menus, I had to play around with it but you need to click on the mount r/w and a su request will pop up, then click OK to all the things you want as r/w. I was able to delete some of the files after I did all that.

If you indeed are using ES File Explorer then there must be a setting for that, regardless which version.
I'm using it from v1 to v2 and recently v3.
It's there, look for it.

Forgot to update, this worked. Thanks! I had to check off r/w for system and it worked. You have to click that top left icon, go to tools, and scroll down to Root Explorer
I did some looking around, but none of the guides I found seem to work. I'm basically trying to rename an audio file to kill the camera click, but found an issue that might give me problems later with other things I might want to do.
Each time I try renaming the file, the file renames itself back to its original name after I reboot the phone. For example, if I add .bak or an extra space in the file name, it disappears once I reboot.
I'm using ES File Explorer on my stock, rooted Sprint HTC One. I mounted the /system path as R/W, and the file is /system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg.

Its because android need these file onboot, to make the camera make a different noise, get a camera_click.ogg file from a different rom and just replace it in the system, and set the permissions to the previous one. Use root browser lite.

Yes, you can use es, but root browser handles things like this alot better
