Try booting into ClockworkMod recovery and wiping your SD card from there.
I had this exact problem at one point, and an SD card wipe via CWM was the only thing that fixed my SD card.

That's alright - you don't need to be rooted just to boot into CWM.
Give it a quick Google search, it'll be worth it, I promise.

Google SdFormatter 3.0... Download it and format the SD Card with the size option on.
Remember back up what files you have on it, they will be wiped.

external sd card not recognized

Hi guys,
i have flashed a few miui v4 roms and i think they have messed up my external sd card settings or something along the line.
now i'm back on a gb rom, i see the sd card when the phone is up and running but if i try to flash from cwm 4.0.1.5 it doesn't see mmy external card ?
do you guys have any idea how to sort this out ? i want to say that this sd card has always worked fine on this device, it's just now that cwm doesn't see it.
thanks
Format the card & see if the phone recognises it. If not, faulty card given you're running stock & the card should be visible to the phone/working fine if the card is good/not faulty.

Have you tried mounting it in CWM?
yes, but it doesn't even give me the option to choose zip file from eternal sd card only from internal sd card

What version CWM recovery are you on?
I meant, if you go to the Mounts and Storage menu, does it have an option for mounting or unmounting /sdcard? If so, does it say mount, or unmount? If it says mount, then you have to mount it in order to use it.
4.0.1.5 and yes there is mount, i mount it, go back to choose zip from sd card.....and there's no internal card detected....if i boot in the system i can see it with file explorer or the likes...it's just cwm not seeing it

Hmm. I've not used 4.x.x.x in quite some time.
I'm using 5.0.2.7. For me, anything that refers to "sdcard" is the external card. "internal sdcard" is the built in flash memory. And as it turns out, I didn't even have to mount /sdcard to use either.
Sorry man...
How did you get 4.0.1.5 installed? Maybe it's time to upgrade.
yes probably, how do you actually upgrade this ??

Easiest way is to flash a kernel that comes with it. I'm using Siyah. Just search for it.

[Q] Unable to write to ums lunfile(no such file or directory) can anybody help ?

Hello guys.
I want your help! I don't know if the problem is from my card or from my recovery.
I've connected my SD-card to my computer in order to make back-up for my data(I think that was a little premonition).
After that I wanted to copy a new ROM to the card in order to flash it, but the speed was too slow. So I've enter into Recovery in order to copy there the ROM(mount the card as USB). Then, I've noticed that the speed was very low so I've decided to format the SD.
I've put into the card reader of my laptop and made a full format of the card(FAT32).
Last stap, I've inserted the card into my phone and tried to Mount as USB, but, than appeared the big error:
"Unable to write to ums lunfile(no such file or directory)!"
After that I've tried to repartion the card..but only the same message appeared.
I've to mention that my ROM(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23789395#post23789395) is working fine!

I've tried that too. No chance. I've format the card with http://www.partitionwizard.com/download.html. It can see all the partitions from SD card. On that card I had an ext4 partition(from my old HTC Desire). After that, in phone I can see the card(both Android and Recovery) but can't copy anything on it.

Try formating the card threw the sd options in SD/ storage setting. Meaning unmount the sd. Then format the sd. When its complete it should remount the sd automatically. Also you should try reflashing your recovery. Also what rom and kernel are you using??

I've formated the card like you said. The same result! How could I reflash my Recovery..with adb commands? My ROM is: Virtuous S4X A2(ICS 4.0.3) with his kernel.

[Q] CWM not detecting SD Card?

When I reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery it doesn't give me the option of "installing zip from external SD Card", it just says "install zip from SD Card" which brings me to my internal. Any ideas?

From what I gather it is an older version and we are stuck with it for now. You'll want to copy things to flash to the phone and not the external SD card for now.
