Hello everyone!
My ICOO D70PROII tablet started to have some battery problems, like unstable battery % (e.g. 40% running and 7% after reboot or 40% running and 75% after reboot). Then a friend borrowed me the tablet, and he said me that it doesn't charge after he pluged it in a TV USB port.
The tablet only charged with Micro USB + Jack charger (I have an 10 in 1 charger) or a Nokia Micro USB cable, but wont charge with stock cable or any other cable.
The Mini HDMI port of tablet is broken, but that was in the beggining of it's life, so I suppose that it doesn't have anything about the problem.
Anyone knows some tests I can do, even with some garage tools? Maybe it's the battery, or the tablet suffered a discharge and it is dead?
Bump

So I went out and bought a 2nd USB cable to leave at work to charge my phone. But for some reason the USB cable I bought doesn't charge the phone...instead it drains the battery..??? The light is on and the icon shows it is charging when I have the USB cable connected and I can even mount the SDcard with it. But the battery percentage slowly goes down. The USB cable that came with the phone works fine without any issues.
Is there something special about the stock USB cable? Do I have to buy a certain type of cable to make charging work?
I bought another two cables, even used a Motorola USB cable but never noticed that... it never happened to me.
My guess is:
Fact:
- charging through the pc USB port is so slow, to get full charge you need 6-8 hours compared to 1.5-2 hours through the wall..
Scenario:
You are using your phone or running heavy application while charging it so it drains more battery than charging ..
Just a guess.

Hey guys i just wanted to knw if ur phone lasts the same when charging using the laptop and using the wall charger bcoz mine is nearly 60% ie. lasts 40% less when i charge using wall charger.
Does anybody else is facing this too ??
That's an interesting observation, ill have too check. Though the laptop would be a slow charge and a cleaner regulated current due to the power regulator in the laptop's charger
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
yeah laptop charging is nearly half or less than half speed of wall charging ..
there is no difference between AC or USB power from a PC, but charging it with a PC takes a lot more time, because your USB port has not the power/current
i usually always use the wall charger it came with. But i remember that sometimes when i use any other charger it either wont even recognize the cable or not charge at all specially car chargers
Hmmm, this is a weird one guys.
I can charge my X10 only if it is plugged in to the USB port via the computer. However, when it is plugged directly into the power socket, it does not charge. Now, I've tried two different chargers, and both work when charging another device (my iPod Touch).
I don't understand. The cord can't be broken, since it works when charging from my computer? Yet, the charger (the thing that plugs into the wall) can't be broken either, since another charger didn't work and also both have the ability to charge my iPod.
What's up? :S
Thanks in advance.
NOTE: Even when charging while off works on the computer, just not when it's plugged in (and I am not using a custom kernel either). I doubt the ROM matters (since it still has the above problem while charging when off), but even so, I'm using v061 of Wolfbreak's 6.1.3 ROM.
Bump bump, bump it up!
Do you use the original SE in-wall charger? If not, thats the problem, if yes I recomend to test with a different wall charger (eg. from another device)
May be the cable it faulty? Because the PC charging uses a less amount of Volts (to my knowledge) and the charging while connected to PC is very slow. Did you try with any other Official cable?
It could possibly be your cable as mine broke a few weeks back (Same Problem), I just replaced the cable now its fine
Guys :-/
Went out and bought a new cable, and still not charging from the power Only from the slower laptop USB port :'(
I think it may be the X10 itself..
I am still suffering from this problem And sometimes when it's connected to the PC and displays 'charging', it instead discharges

Maybe the connector in the phone is broken????
Yep your usb port is broken, mine did exactly the same thing. You will have to send it to fonebiz in rockdale, nsw. I just got my phone back, took 6 weeks to repair!

Rockdale? 6 weeks?! Not going that far. :-/ I can live with just charging from the PC at the moment.
Thanks though Sad news indeed
Is is still under warranty? It will eventually stop charging from the PC too. I was waiting for parts to arrive so maybe they have them in stock now. That was 6 weeks from melbourne and back.
Going through the same thing in the US. I was told repair would be 5-7 days, but I'm sure I'm looking longer. If it comes back within the time frame they gave me I will be pleasantly surprised. I hope you're still under warranty and do your self the favor and send it in or soon you will have a very expensive paper weight. Good Luck!
I went through the exaxt same thing. It stopped charging from the wall but could only charge from computer but eventually stopped charging altogether.
Did you try taking out the battery and plugging in with the original se microusb cabe to the wall. After 5 min. put the battery in. First time didnt work for me but then i took out the battery again and put it back in immediately and then it turned on.
try getting a usb-to-wall charger, and plugging your computer usb cable into wall.

Out of curiosity, how long before each of your X10's stopped charging altogether? :S
Because, for me, it's been longer than two months and throughout that time I've managed to keep charging it via the computer.
Thanks.

I've 3 usb-to- chargers here:
From a MP20 phone, generic charger that can't charge my phone and also can't charge most of other devices, output power and voltage are low.
From an old Ipaq(not ipad) it does charge my x10 for some reason takes longer than the original, it says on it 1000mA and 5V, I don't remember the real amp and voltage on it.
And the original one, always charge really fast(2 hours for a full 0 to 100% when the phone is ON)
Conclusion, buy and original charger if you not using one, which seems to be the case.
OR, update your baseband if possible, as battery issues are normally related to baseband are normally the cause of this errors.
To make sure you can always try to do a SEUS repair.

Sorry to say this, but your are wrong man.
My charger says 5.0V which is exact the same voltage as any USB ports(exception for some internal USB ports used commonly for bluetooth and other low consumption devices that use 3.0 to 3.3V).
The difference is mainly on the amount of power amp it can supply, the original usb cable + wall charger provides 700mA, while in the PC USB 2.0 ports provide 500mA, 1.0 USB provide 100mA and 1.1 I don't remember now, generic usb wall chargers say sometimes they provide 500mA but they mostly provide 30l0mA and sometimes they do not provide on 5.0V they oscillate between 4.6 to 5.2V a good usb port have to provide 4.95V to 5.1V any difference from this may even burn a phone if higher and not charge or reduce a battery life if too lower.
Everytime a battery is not charged up the end of 100% they battery life gets a bit reduce as next time even if you leave it to charge up to 100% it won't really be at 100%, this can only be seen by measuring the battery voltage after the charge, fully charge it must reach up to 4.7V
on the battery or something like this.

If the cable is too thin(like 1.0 usb cables they can't handle 500mA if connected to an already extended usb port it may not get recognized and also not even charge.
Laptops usb ports may not allow 500mA it different for every laptop, some work, some doesn't and others your have to set that on bios.

Always when connected to the PC it should say charging, if it did say discharging at some point then there was something wrong.
But charging on the pc is very slow and not good.

Is there any other model of charger than a usb-to-wall? Sorry my lack of knowledge on this, but i never saw a wall direct charger for x10.
Thanks button is appreciated, rsrsrs
here's a weird one..
when using the wall charger that came w/ my phone, instead of charging the battery its actually draining it, the battery icon says its charging/plugged w/ power but after leaving it plugged in eventually it died out, but if i plug it in my pc it charges w/ no problem..
pls help me or enlighten me as to whats happening...
thanks in advance.
Strange. It should be the other way around. USB 2.0 sockets push 500mah which isnt enough to charge the S while the wall chargers provided are 800/850. Perhaps a dud socket? Try another and if not your charger is fĂșcked.
yeah, i think its my effin charger, i plugged it in a diff outlet still same, i tried using it to charge my iphone its not working as well. thanks for the help.

USB isnt enough to charge the SXS?
Stop spouting rubbish like that.
I charge my SXS with my PC's USB port all the time and it charges just fine.

For me it discharges faster than it charges. It may charge off yours but typically it'll be very slow or not at all. Some ports push more AFAIK, but the standard is 500max.
I also noticed that, if I have WiFi on, the phone actually discharges when connected to the PC (when used anyway).
I don't know how much current is provided though, never measured it.
If charging through USB is fine then it might be that the charger is shorting the battery + and - through some resistance.
Try another charger and see if it helps , and replace the faulty one. You don't want to break your battery.
On my laptop usb port it will charge just fine. Slower than the normal charger but it does work.
On my desktop pc otoh it drains more than it charges. So there probably is a difference in output on the usb ports.

If you were using "front ports" these are often underpowered compared to ones mounted on the mobo(back of case, or all laptop ones).
I connect my phone via my front ports and it charged just fine actually...
I am behind the computer quite a bit and my phone keeps its battery and charges when attached, even when I'm installing a bunch of apps (I tend to browse the market via my browser and pick up apps as i go) I still don't discharge...
It could be a voltage issue with your ports, but with my frontal ports I notice no problems...but anyways, this isn't about the ports, this is about the OP's charger.
To me, it seems like your charger is faulty.
Hi,
I wrote about a similar issue I was having with the phone discharging when connected to USB.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1573336
From what I could tell in my tests that I did the issue is when the phone is connected to the PC and THEN the PC goes into Standby mode. Even on a powered USB hub the phone charging mechanism does not reset correctly and continue charging but begins discharging.
I would have loved if someone else could have tried to reproduce what I wrote in that thread but no one responded. For me the only solution is to charge directly with the AC power and not through the USB as my PC goes in and out of standby regularly.
Phone charghed with USB will drain batery faster then phone charged with wall charghed.
It was thread in xperia arc about that, the test bring that conlcution.
So i recomend to charge with wall for better batery efecienty.
Sry for language im little sleepy. :$

Hi everybody!
I'm having some problems when charging my device. I've noticed that when I use the stock charger with the stock micro USB data cable, the phone stops charging and it just charges the battery in 1% to 5% after I plugged it on the wall, and the charging led remains on. So I've left the phone plugged into the charger for 2 hours and nothing happens, the device remains cool and the charger remains cool either.
I tested the following scenaries and the results are pretty weird:
a) I tried using the stock SGS3's charger with my Nokia CA-101 data cable, and the phone charges successfully in about 2.5 hours from 0-100%.
b) I used the stock SGS3's charger and the stock data cable, and charged my old Xperia X10 mini pro and successfully charged 0-100% in about 1 hour.
c) I tried charging my SGS3 with it's stock data cable from USB port and It seems to charge very slowly: 20% per hour.
I don't like using different accesories to charge my phone, because I read somewhere that Samsung uses diferent usb pin arrangement because of the Device ID pin.
So my questions are:
What is happening with the phone/battery/charger/usb cable? They seem working well separately but not together.
Does the samsung micro usb data cable uses different pin arrangement than standad micro usb data cable? or Can I keep using my Nokia CA-101 micro usb data cable?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Hi.
I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 it is a remarkably simple phone to disassemble and I'm thankful for that since...
I also had 6 different chargers and cables that would not charge the phone reliably, I took it to Sprint and of course they plugged it in and it charged ok when left alone not moved in any way. Well the charging for me was very intermittent and some cables not at all. It was as if the plug was inserted and removed and inserted over and over again, typical problem if the solder of some connection on the PCB is broken or high resistance for some reason.
I removed the PCB from the phone and examined it to find a micro USB mounted to the PCB with 6 + 5 additional conductors, the 6 that were in the middle of the connector I believe connect directly to the conductors of the USB cable. The other 5, 2 on one side and 3 on the other of the main 6 were broken solder joints on 2 of them. I have a really fine tip solder iron and a microscope which helps but is not totally necessary to re-wet the solder on each pin of the connector. Now my phone works like brand new!!!
I have at least 33 years experience with soldering, so this operation may not be for everyone.
Good luck,
Dude I wish I had the confidence to attempt something like that, well done you

Have you ever done simple mathematic & calcs based on the current output?
You have 2100mAh battery in SGS3, right? And you have STOCK charger. Output = 1A=1000mA => full charge (assuming 100% charging efficacy) would be 2.1hrs. Therefore, 2.5 hrs result from not 100% charging efficacy - simple.
Now, you have USB port in your laptop/computer. From USB 2.0 spec, its output is rated at 500mA => full charge would be more than 4hours.
The difference is result of not 100% efficacy of charging, but this, I assume, you can calculate by yourself (to give you a direction: how much data is spent from a phone to power the screen and to supplot media connection with computer, while charging via USB?)
Sorry that I had to give you some basic calcs from primary school, but... this is what you asked for.
