P769 v20h update.zip? - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Anyone have a rooted update I can install?
Tmobile lg l9

I would also greatly appreciate a cmw .zip with update. Removed bloatware from my phone.

I will be making one tonight/early tomorrow morning. Seems everyone needs one so, will do. Will be making a rooted/busybox/init.d nandroid.
Afterwards will try a deodex version, but sometimes(at least for this phone, it doesnt work fully)
Keep an eye out for a thread. If not a thread, i may pm it to be put in the sticky thread if its not closed.

IMO 20H rom is crap, they removed move 2 sd (app2sd). The metroPCS rom (10D) is better. I deodex it added nexus keyboard, enabled move 2 sd, added the swap script (without init.d or an app) and removed some bloatware. You may not know but init.d doesn't not work well with artas182x 2nd init cwm recovery, they conflict with one another. It (init.d) works about 50% of the time. You mostly have problems with it (init.d) not working when going in and out of cwm. To get it working again, you have to reinstall init.d. I'll try to upload my deodex version some time later today.

Here you go bud.
Should work just fine, as a side note, if the SuperSU app gives you trouble, i installed it as system app, so just delete it and install from the market
Kuma82, Yes it will work just fine, yes it has advantages over tmobile, but meh, sometimes the tmobile crap is good to have around....Well not really, but they are looking for the tmobile version, so i got it covered. if they want, they can restore yours, its just a matter of preference really. No harm, no foul, different views. Thank you for some speedy input on threads though.

Awesome thanks! That's not going to overwrite my data tho is it?

Well normally you backup your data, and stuff, then factory reset, wipe cache, and dalvik before restoring a new one.
Safest route of action is to make a backup first before restoring it:
Try downloading a simple root backup app or something, backup all your appa+data as well nandroid your current setup, you can't go wrong that way around
Restore my backup, then advanced restore the apps and data in cwm or use the backup program to restore it all.

T-mobile rooted cwm rooted zip with move2sd and swap script?
T3HG00GLEG33K, Kuma82:
I would love to get a v20h rooted cwm zip with the swap script and move2sd enabled.
I need the tmobile rom since I have a very bad signal ah home and want to use the wifi calling (uma). However, without the move2sd and the swap script, I always manage to run out of memory.
I was able to use build prop to at move2sd to v20f but was not able to get the swap script working.
Any suggestions on how to use either of your roms and get the best of both worlds - rooted, wifi calling, move2sd, and swap internal and external SD cards?
Thank you.

LOL, I told you 20H was crap and 10D is queen. Well I really didn't say all that ha. Anyways you are right, 20H (dam T-Mobile) removed enabling move 2 SD. MetroPCS 10D (jellybean) IS THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, it has wifi calling, move 2 SD & all that other good stuff.
I don't know if you know this, but I'm with T-Mobile, my carrier is not MetroPCS. The metro version works fine on my T-Mobile sim.

MetroPCS 10D sounds great!
Kuma82:
That is good news! While Tmobile 20h may work for people, I do prefer a lighter ROM and your MetroPCS 10D sounds like it has all the features I want - root/wifi-calling/move2sd/swap-sd-cards! I was on the Wind JB ROM earlier which was also pretty good, but did not have Wifi calling. I will try out your listed ROM - I assume it is similar to other rooted CWM zips and can be installed in a similar fashion.
My best-case scenario would have been a CM 10.x with wifi calling if possible, but I cannot install CM anyway since I was unable to unlock the bootloader on my P769 despite several tries.
Thanks for your help.

Your data on the fake internal SD will be erased.
Your internal sd card data will not be erased, I just checked it out awhle ago. However, I would still backup your internal sd and place everything on your external sd. Performing a wipe data/factory reset inside artas182x cwm does not erase the internal sd. A real factory reset is suppose to wipe all of the user data.
Make a cwm backup before installing. I call the internal SD fake, because it's not separated from your data partition. The more stuff you put in internal, the less space you have for apps.
You should be able to flash my backup, and then restore your data (advance restore from external sd) without any problems. When you flash a kdz it does the same thing, changes the system and doesn't touch the data partition.

[Q] Flashing to obtain memory swap

Hey guys,
I've been lurking for a little while now and reading up on steps I need to follow to swap my internal and external memory, but I wanted to clarify something to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. First off, I have a Verizon Note 2 that I rooted using Odin and running "Jelly Beans build.1 VRALJB 4.1.1 by Beanstown106". That's as far as I've gone thus far. I tried just using directory bind to install apps to my external micro sd card, but that program has too many issues to use reliably. Apps were forcing close and the app itself was glitching. I've decided to run a memory swap mod, but from what I've gathered, I'll need to unlock the bootloader and flash a new rom. So here's my plan (please let me know if there's some flaw in it):
1) I'll unlock the bootloader using AdamOutler's guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043636
2) I figured the next easiest step would be to just flash a custom rom that includes the memory swap in it inherently, like the angelROM TouchWiz debloat build here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2055073&nocache=1
Thanks for any info you folks can provide. This is my first time jumping into advanced Android modifying and I'm nervous about mixing the wrong builds/roms and bricking my phone.
P.S. One last thing: Does anyone know if AFTER having run the mod to swap memory, if you can transfer all the data to a new (larger) memory card and swap them out? I have a 32 GB card but intend to get a 64 GB one in the next few days. Can I flash the angelROM build now and then just swap them when I get the larger card or will that cause issues?
There shouldn't be any issue as long ss you turn off the phone and then remove the 32GB SD and use your computer to handle the swap. It wont break anything if the phone is on but it'll make it act a smidge wonky imo.
Also: http://db.tt/NtrxYbU8
Its a zip that will switch the sd card positions. This isnt my original work but I use it because it works no questions asked.

Thanks so much for the info! I'm still a little nervous about whether or not I'm missing a step between unlocking the bootloader and then jumping into the "memory swap ROM" immediately. Can anyone verify that my plan is correct and whether or not the angelROM w/ memory swap mod is OK on our Verizon Note 2's?
As long as you use the angelROM for the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Development section you will be fine. After unlocking the bootloader via Adam's process you should have TWRP recovery, which will allow you to fladh the rom.
Download the rom to either your internal storage or your external storage.
Extra: from what I have been told flashing modem's (new radios) that leak will screw up the current ROM you are using. So if new radios leak anytime soon and you are still running the sd card swap you will need to undue that if you plan to flash them.
Extra 2: I can't vouch for it myself because I'm having my own problems after undoing the zip file i shared, but I know undoing the zip is as easy as using root explorer to delete the alteration in the init.d file under etc, so theres that.
Tl; dr: after you unlock the bootloder you are good to run the swap.

Great, thanks again for all your help! I'll give it a go tonight. I'm actually fairly techie and have hacked many devices in the past, but I feel like modding Android devices is probably one of the toughest yet. There are just so many variations of rom builds and hacks, coupled with the confusion of WAY too many android devices and specifics for different carriers... It's hard keeping everything straight. Thanks again! :good:
Omg this is a God sent post! Ok so I have the 16gb and I only have 2gigs left lol,... Ok but what happens when you flash a new rom or an update from Verizon comes out am I going to have to revert back and be tranfering data each time? Will recovery recognize the memory swap? After the memory swap will I have to move or copy everything over before or after the swap, if after how will it boot if it thinks it's OS is on the memory card now.... If I revert back does that mean the OS needs to be copied back to internal memory before the swap... Ughhhh this is too much but I LOVE my phone and there is no other way I have to get this working... I really hope they improve this method

So to answer some questions:
It will revert back to normal between roms. Thats why I recommend using the zip I posted. Again its not my work and I am not taking credit for it. But that zip can be applied to any rom.
You should worry more about losing the bootloader and root under new software because most likely that will happen.
I suggest doing a clean install with the swap, and not installing apps. Otherwise you will have to move stuff manually.
Rom will continue to work if you want to remove the init.d file but most likely have sd card issues as I am seeing. Instagram doesnt recognize I have an sd card in. Its hit or miss and in now way reflects the owners work, its the nature of the beast unfortunately.
Hope that helps
EDIT: The zip isnt rom specific, whereas angelROM is specifically for that rom

Lets say you use cyanogen right? And a new version of the rom comes out. It will recognize whatever is currently your external and internal, but when you flash a new rom it will revert back to original paths.
EDIT: This doesn't apply to the angelROMs that have the switch pre applied

That I am unsure of. Because data wipes everything I believe it would get rid of the init.d file so it woukd revert back to normal, but I'm not 100% sure on that

Ok, so I followed the steps I detailed in my OP and everything went pretty well. I'm running angelROM v4 and wanted to update to the v6 that was posted but I'm unable to boot back into recovery mode now... After initially unlocking, I made a nandroid backup in TWRP, but now I can't seem to get back into recovery mode. I power off and hold volume - & power but the phone just boots back up normally. Is there something I'm missing here? Does flashing a new rom remove the TWRP recovery option or something?
Never mind. I apologize if I wasted anyone's time with this. I figured out I can reboot into recovery mode by using Rom Toolbox. I just figured there would be a shortcut that would allow me to do it without it also.
Ok so your not able to use the power + up key combination like normal?

You know, I never saw in any of my searching any indication that "volume + & power" was the correct key combination to boot to recovery. Everything I found said that to boot into recovery mode in TWRP, you need to use "volume - & power", not volume +. I'll give that a go. Thanks!
By the way, I'm just about ready to give up on this whole memory swap mod thing. Has anyone gotten it working without issues? The angelROM I posted about earlier worked but when apps were installed they didn't get allocated to the correct memory. For example, I first attempted to install some of my backups from Titanium Backup Pro, and when I did that, the apps installed to the (switched) "card" memory. Which, of course, is pointless, since the whole idea is to get them to install on the external sd card so the device can hold more apps. I initially figured this was probably a limitation with restoring apps in Titanium Backup, so I tested installing some apps directly from the google play store. When I did that, those apps ended up taking up memory on BOTH storage locations. Example: EXT MEM had 10 GB and INT MEM had 4 GB before I installed a 1 GB app. AFTER installing that app, my EXT MEM had 9 GB and my INT MEM had 3 GB.
At that point I figured it was probably an issue with the angelROM itself so I ditched it and moved on to Bean's Revision 4 (which I like the look of more anyway). That happens to have a "memory swap" option so I enabled that and I'm getting the EXACT same issues. So my question is this: has anyone been able to use the memory swap mod and install apps on the external sd card WITHOUT the app taking up equal space on the internal storage? If so, what did you do to get it to work?
P.S. I'd post these questions in the angelROM thread or bean's revision 4 thread, but being new here, my post count is still too low to ask questions on the development boards. Thanks!

A nandroid is kinda like making an image of a PC using Ghost (if that helps at all).
You should make a nandroid when:
- You love your build/configuration
- You getting ready to flash a new ROM
- You gonna do anything unfamiliar
It is your way back to a working and configured device.
Ex...
I want to flash romX. Boot into recovery, make a nandroid. Do my wipes. Flash romX. Reboot. Play with new from. Find out I hate romX or its missing a feature I love. Fine. Reboot into recovery restore my nandroid. I am now back where I started...with my phone as it was before I started.
Ti (titanium backup) is a great tool. Yes, it's confusing.
1) buy the pro version...it's worth it
2) don't restore system apps (someone else can perhaps correct me or explain this one)
3) if you move from one aosp rom to another you can restore your user apps and data...this can save you a lot of time.
Oh yeah....ALWAYS keep a good nandroid copy on your computer. If your really frell things up and wipe everything or if the files get corrupt...you will be happy you have it.
Don't feel bad, there has been some weird twist and turns on the dev of this device. It was much easier on my old EVO4G. THE LGOG has confused me several times as well.
Good luck.

Best way to clean up the internal SD

So in my flashing craziness I forgot to use the sd downgrade when I went from an AOSP rom back to a 4.1.2 rom. Definitely a noob mistake that I will never make again.
Now my internal SD seems extremely cluttered with a 0 folder similar to the main one.
Is there a simple way to clean this up?
FWIW I did flash the new Beans 18 build then flash the downgrade earlier today, however I am currently on a restored backup of Beans 17.
I have considered flashing back to stock and then rooting again to make it all clean, but that won't take care of the unused and duplicate folders in my internal storage...right?!
Yes I am new here so please be kind! I spend a ton of time teaching myself and learning about rooting and customizing, but this is one thing I wanted a definite answer to before I end up deleting a crucial file or folder.

Easiest way would be to use a file explorer and copy/paste anything from /0 you want to keep over to the correct sdcard location. Then you can just delete the /0 folder.
Thanks for taking the time to answer. I was able to delete all but 2 sub folders under 0...the download and jelly beans folder refuse to delete. Not sure what that's about but at least I now have my internal in better shape!

Were you using an explorer like Root Explorer that you could get R/W privileges with? If not do that.

I am using ES file explorer...I thought it would be able to 'see' all the files.
If I need to use another program or app, let me know.

Reboot to TWRP, go to advanced to fix the permissions on those two folders and then delete it from there, worked for me.
I also found trouble deleting beans, but got it done from a pc. Different beans for different fiends.

I haven't used ES in a long long long time. If it will allow you full R/W privileges like Root Explorer you should be able to do it but I honestly don't know about ES because I use Root Explorer. Maybe the post about boring into recovery would work.

I was in the same boat as you buddy. I put everything I wanted from my internal memory to my sd card and went into TWRP and wiped the internal data(the one you have to type yes to continue) then wiped cache system and data and reflashed beans room and then used my backup from my sd card

^ This is the way to go. Just get rid of everything and start over. Although make sure to have the rom on your external sd so after you wipe internal you have the rom to flash. I do it when I get bored and want to clear out old app folders

If I needed to clear the internal, I would remove important files and then do an internal storage wipe on a clean Rom from twrp.
Current device:
Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Retired devices:
Huawei Ascend, Droid Charge, Droid Bionic
I used this wipe application called Zoot's wipe script, it has the Aroma wipe installer in it. This has several wiping variations but the big wipe is the Mega Wipe. Make sure you transfer all your important files to your external sd card because this Mega Wipe will wipe your internal memory clean to where you have 10gb free again. (For me on Verizon we only can get the 16gb gnote2, so after Touch Wiz sucks up the memory it needs you only have about 10gb free) Download this zip file and when you flash into recovery, I use TWRP, this can be used on Clock work too. flash this zip file and select Mega to clean out your internal sd. Super Wipe can be used to flash different roms too.

all you have to do is hit format data in twrp, same thing as "megawipes".

Yeah those mega wipe threads were really confusing me I was like umm isn't that a basic option in twrp.
I use internal system wipe in twrp... Works great

They started making those years ago and they just haven't stopped because people think they do more than just wiping in TWRP, which they don't.

CWM and was wiping everything via cwm and still all of the folders reappear! do i need to use TWRP???

[tip] do not backup to internal sd card!

Just wanted to give a warning to make sure when you make a nandroid backup (CWM backup) to backup to external SD,
NOT INTERNAL!! It will fill up the internal memory and cause A LOT of force closing to the point it makes the phone useless.
So basically pay attention when in cwm recovery, don't do what I did lol

You can delete the backup from recovery though.

Now THAT I had no idea about. Will be very handy next time I'm not paying attention.
What option is that under?

move apps to sd built in on lg p769 20f. how to enable

I have tmobile lg p769 unlocked bootloader with p760 uboot and cwm6.0.3.1.
I have found a way to make v 20f have move to sd option in apps menu.
#1 copy the two lines to the build prop.
ro.lge.capp_osp=true
ro.lge.capp_move_sdcard=true
#2 extract to system etc. run script with su and boot.
#3 reboot phone and try to move your apps to sd.Try and see for yourself. You will be as surprised as i was.
I know this works with what i have attached.
And fyi u cant move all the apps to sd so dont get mad when certain apps dont move. There just not suppose to.
Just got confirmation it works on locked bootloader.
Yup, it wasn't enabled on 20D. I found this out by comparing the build.prop(s) of Wind & T-mobile. I did the same to the MetroPCS version.
You actually beat me to the punch, lol.
You just saved me from flashing back to 20f to test it out.
Please let people know, that they should have cwm or twrp installed before messing with the build.prop.

It was something u said that about the metro rom that gave me the idea. Plus why not try when v20f,v21b,and the metro 10b all have the same build #. And people please make sure u have cwm or twrp installed to be safe.
Does this work on a locked bootloader with CWM side loaded? I'm also a little confused on what script I'm suppose to run do you just flash the zip through CWM or?
Disregard last, should this script by run similar to how the v6 supercharger script ran have it enable on boot?
??? Is this only for p769? On my p760 this option is on. And on what sd - internal or external?

Extract script to system/etc. Run with smanager .
This is the only script that works for me.
It should work on any rooted l9. I dont think it matters as long as u can change build.prop. But confirmed on lg p769 v20f.

It makes the move to sd to external. If u can move your apps to sd in app menu to internal then just try the script.
But for p769 users we now have the option built in without all the hassles

You also need to edit build.prop and copy those two lines in as well correct? Plus have script manager run the script on boot?

Yep. I added the lines between the lines in the build.prop.like it is in the screenshot. Misspelled one so put the lines on here manually and left the screenshot as is just so people could see where i added the lines.

Okay I'll give it a go, I got a backup of build.prop just to be safe but I don't think it will be to difficult to go in and remove those lines but then again you never know. Lastly do you need to use like App2SD or will the actual move to sd option be available like in the wind mobile devices?

Just like the wind version. U dont remove lines u add them. The pic shows where i put the lines. U dont have to use app2sd.
It works, success, freaking awesome now it's time to remove all link2sd links and the partition off my sd card.
I'd like to note my bootloader is locked and I'm running a rooted stock version of V20F of the US T-Mobile version. Now I can keep my Wi-Fi calling which I need at my house and have move to sd, I don't know why this wasn't included from LG or T-Mobile, makes no sense to me.
I'm going to remove the MOD for now but it does show progress which I like.

I might have spoke to soon, it doesn't look like the script is working after all.
Edit
The script looks like it did something to my internal memory as it is showing my internal memory has the capacity of my SD card but my apps still show available space of the standard 4 gig internal memory. Does that mean it's tricking the phone into thinking the internal memory is the storage location which allows the App to SD move? I'm completely lost at this point

Ive been on this all day and no problems. I got a 32gb sdcard formatted it through cwm and now im working on getting it fixed . Because thats the same i get now.
Failed for me. T-Mo, P769, rooted, 20F. There are few programs where I even have the option to Move To SD. When I try to move the ones that aren't grayed out I get an error "couldn't move app".

Check your storage and note if your internal storage has been swapped out with your sd card, I believe that is actually what the script is attempting to do.

I already uploaded a swap script, way back. The busybox part in it, is over kill, just remove it.

I couldn't get this script to stick all it did was swap my internal for my external but still registered my external as the external too with zero access to the internal card. The build.prop lines did allow the move to sd card / phone option in the APPS menu but it wasn't doing anything as both internal/external memories were one in the same according to the phone. I do like that you have found the option to enable that menu option but for me it just didn't work.

Have you tried moving stuff without the swap script active?
You are on 20f version right, and not on 20d?
