My friend just got a new Optimus L9 (P760), and it's running 4.0.4. He wants to run the official 4.1 update, but his phone says there's no software update available. What's the problem here?
I realize I can just flash a KDZ manually, but I'd rather not do that if there's something obvious I'm missing here.
Probably the update for your region hasn't been released or something like that! Maybe a coincidence or not, but i changed the date (I added a year or so) don't ask me why (CSR Racing )) ) and suddenly I found a notification with the OTA Update. Worth trying! :-??
Hm, he tried that and it didn't work. It was bought at Telenor Serbia if that means something.

Well, I guess he should flash it manually
Yeah, it looks like he'll have to flash it manually. Not much of a problem, so thanks for your help.

That's actually your build number, which is fine. You need to look at your system version. It should be something like 6.11.744.XT910 or something along those lines.
Check that and report back.
the version is 651.73.19.XT910.NonEFIGSRetail.en.EU

you don't have an update yet.
The recent update for the XT910 was only for the 651.73.15, .16, .17, .18 versions.
It looks like Bulgaria is not on the list, and it might be because of the language on the phone.
The update was recent, December 31st, so you may see it being sent OTA soon, but for now, it looks like you're up to date.
Thanks. So for now I cant put any roms ?
Hi, Just received my new Razr today in U.K. Had OTA update to 651.73.30.en.eu. All downloaded fine.
Cheers.

No, you should be able to still put ROM's on there.
Just to make sure, you're rooted, right??
I believe there are no fastboot files yet for the .19 version, at least that's what I was reading, so instead of just straight loading a ROM on top of this, I would go the safestrap route. This will allow you to load a secondary ROM and access both.
My understanding is while the .18 & .19 versions are different, they're not so different it will block you from loading a ROM.
It should be the same process as ever, root, safestrap, then enable safestrap mode, and flash the ROM.
If you get an error, report back and let me know what it is, and I MIGHT be able to help you through it.

Follow the downgrade instructions, root it, bootstrap it and use all the roms you want. I think that's what you need to do.

Nothing in Europe!! How instal US firmware??
Great!
I'm looking forward to have here a tutorial on how to upgrade from other countries and without losing root )
Thanks guys!
nothing yet for Canada
I'm currently changing my region with Condi's tool. Here's hoping that works to download and crack the update...hrm..
edit: It's now telling me the update is to 3.2
Seems odd. Thinking maybe I should wait until Condi or someone can confirm that this will work alright...

Its correct behaviour. Thats because of sony.ro.build.incremental lowest valu ('1'). You can update (downgrade) to 3.2, then again update to 3.2.1,
and then to 4.03
Or change value to higher to get ICS update.
OR BETTER - wait for me (or other users) and we will give proper,
easy, step by step instructions.
I want to make ICS rom capable to use for every region
br
condi
Thanks for the quick reply Condi!
If that is normal behaviour, I might just carry on, and move through all of the firmwares, keeping them rooted along the way.
Will let you all know how it goes!
If someone can upload US firmware with is tablet.
EDIT : I wait for your tutorial condi ! You have time today?
i have a 16gb 3g italian tablet, if i change the region to us, and upgrade, and the change back the region to italian, will i lose the 3g support?
I'm in India, so I'll let you know if anything shows up over this way.

Nothing for me yet... USA
I see they have added direct access to files on the SD card.
Can anyone convince me of a good reason to wait for a root version? I can't think of anything I really need it for on this, unless someone finds a way to run Sky Go somehow through a hack.
Why cant I access this yet? USA rooted.

Bojanglez, I'm thinking the same as you - the only reason I rooted 3.2 was for the init.d support to run scripts for SD cards. Now that ICS supports that, is there any reason to root?....
Probably, there's always a good reason for it - CPU Master is as good excuse as any!
Anybody know if the Hotspot is disabled in ICS as in Honeycomb?
pretty sick

I can't get the update here in the UK yet anyway, so I will wait and see how it goes here.
If I can get a rooted version as quickly as the official I probably will, but I'm not sure I can resist the temptation just to upgrade if it becomes available before.

Likewise - the temptation to just go for it is great - BUT - we should be aware of the kernel situation (.10) that stopped some users from rooting. Best not to be too hasty, Condi might well present something to keep root. He usually presents something awesome!
Does anyone actually have this yet?
According to Android Central, ICS will begin being pushed to the Sony Tablet S today. Included is direct access to sdcard for some applications it seems. Hopefully also a wifi fix is included. Now who's willing to take the exploit plunge?
This issue has already several topics in "GENERAL" section...
Hope so.
I'm tired of honeycomb!!!!!!!
What more ICS brings new?
Could someone report immediately if the update is available in your region?
I would like to modify my region.zip and build.prop to download the regional file and will try to root it with Condis tool.
A copy of the build.prop could be helpful too. Thanks in advance.
no dice here in Sweden with a US machine.
Update is downloading now on my tablet. I'm in the US

I am in Australia but changed my device so it thinks it's a US version using All-In-One tool. Just downloaded the OTA update but too scared to flash in case I brick it!
Reckon it's safe? I know I'll loose root and not be able to get it back. But I don't really use Root anyway on this device.
according to the announcement from japan sony, the ics update for jp machine is delayed. no exact update is provided.

I changed my device to US and got the update straight away.I just installed it and everything works fine.I lost root but I wanted to test it unrooted first and if there is a reason I'll root it again later if Condi comes up with a root solution
Got mine installed. US tablet.
Would anyone mind uploading a system dump? I do a lot of app/widget porting for the asus transformer and it would be nice to get my hands on some new material
Any way to force an update without ac power? I have full charge and forgot the power cable. Did I bit of a search around but came up empty. Curse Sony and it's non universal power cables!

I did like what you said and the upgrade went smoothly without any issue.
A bit of a nooby question, but I've never come across it or had to do it before.
I know I could flash a custom ROM but nothing quite stands out just yet, waiting for S3 USA release. There should be a lot more action on the ROM side then.
But at the moment I'm on stock, rooted and woke up with an update on my phone yesterday. From what I've read there's 2 updates 1 after the other and 1's a new kernel. I'd rather not update and root again if there's a simple way of removing the update e.g. like say delete a file from somewhere. After all my phone's running 100% as is.
Anyone know the answer? Its bugging me now, you can only perspone it for 3 hours at a time.
If I don't get rid of it by tomorrow I'm going to reaserch if i can just update over a rooted stock ROM. Find out about the new kernel build make sure I can root after updating and reluctantly update.
Thanks in advance
Marc

Hi mate
I have the same problem and can't get rid of the OTA update available message, if you find a solution then please post.
Many thanks!!
download the 'update' from sammobile.com it's the LF2 rom, install with mobile odin and tell it to keep root.... problem solved
I just used titanium backup to delete the updater. Seems to be working fine for now.
Hello to everyone. Sorry if the post does not go here.
I have a factory unlocked Galaxy S2 and wanted to know if there is a way to update it with the official jelly bean update, since the roll out started for some countries i thought maybe i could do the update too. My country didn't recieve the update yet, and when i search for updates, it obviously says theres none. But wanted to know if theres a method, that does not involve rooting or something like that.
Thanks in advanced
Just flash some other countries rom
I.e Spain
Yeah i heard that, but i wanted to know if there was a way to updating it without flashing some rom. Because i cant understand why i can update since my phone is unlocked. I even tried to search for updates without a sim but with no luck.

No.
If you want JB now then you will need to flash Spains or some other countries stock rom via ODIN or flash a custom rom via cwm recovery.

It's about the firmware, not about network status (locked - unlock).
Judging by your nick you are from Argentina-Uruguay. You'll get the update in march.

Just flash it via Odin / mobile odin so you can show off running JB while your friends run gingerbread or ICS (or iOS, they always look away going like "argh...I got nothing to show against that spaceship", luv it )
