System Update For Evo V 4g - HTC EVO 3D

How do I apply the system update to the stock rom? Right now I have TWRP installed and when I try to do the update it brings me to TWRP and stops. I am guessing the stock rom is looking for the stock recovery. Can I revert to the stock recovery temporarily or manually flash the update using TWRP? If so where is the stock update downloaded?

You need to flash the stock recovery before the update will work. After update you can flash back to twrp but I would recommended trying our 4ext if you have not already.

https://db.tt/jZIXyTWn
However, don't think you will be able to update.
I'm pretty sure its been discussed before, and the ROM needs to be unaltered...which is very unlikely in your situation.
Unfortunately your best option, i believe, is to obtain soff.

Yea it has been disabled on the Rom I'm running, I was just curious if it would cause problems if I took the update. I'm still learning the ins and outs of rooting. But I understand what your saying, I've seen some time that the ota push was not disabled.

I know the error you are talking about and have already read your post. It is always fixed with TWRP by updating. Your issue may be in part because you don't have root. You can root with the Toolkit as opposed to flashing a prerooted ROM.
Also is CWM the recovery you are using or are you trying to flash in the stock recovery? If you're trying to flash on the stock recovery that's your issue.

The TWRP downloads from Goo, from the actual website and not the app, give you the option to download and use img or zips.
One quick question, how do you not have root? I am pretty sure you should have root, if for no other reason than to make installing and updating TWRP way faster and easier and to use Tibu to back up your apps and app data to take over to your new ROM.

A lot say CWM is the preferred but the community, at least here, seems to like and prefer TWRP for their flashables. Not to mention we have an amazing dev who constantly updates with bugfixes when he hears about issues with TWRP.
Also another answer i need is how you installed CWM? Via ROM Manager, IMG file, etc? And again, where did you get your ROM and have you made 1000% sure that it is built for your device?

The obvious question: what build is your phone? Are you MDK with LOKI-enabled custom recovery?
If so, did you flash the proper kernel to support your ROM? AOSP ROMs won't work with the stock kernel.
If you're not running MDK build, then you can't run AOSP-based ROMs.
Using TWRP. And yes im on mdk. Not flashing any kernals.

I could be wrong but i think the first TWRP recovery that supported Loki exploit was 2.5.0.2 but that doesn't explain why you are able to flash TW roms as that requires Loki as well. Make sure you're not on 2.6.0.0 I did hear some issues with TWRP higher then 2.5.0.2 but they may have been ironed out. I have stayed with 2.5.0.2 and likely wont update ever from it unless i have to.

Yeah there is a flashable some where in here. Just flash it in twrp that you have installed now. It will revert it back to the older version. Good practice after flashing the replacement recovery is to reboot to recovery after install to make sure it took before rebooting to system.

Back to 4.3

Hi everyone. Got this phone just a few days ago and updated it to 4.4 the next day. Sadly I didn't do any research before doing so and realized I can't transfer files to the memory card with 4.4. Is there a way to flash the older 4.3JB the easy way? Like the Samsung Odin way? The last time I had an HTC was with the One X and I did not do any tinkering with it. So please forgive my noobness. Or is there another way to have the old access to mem card without having to root? Thanks guys.

I have the vzw HTC one max it was rooted soff with NUsense six 4.4.2 rom installed. Well I left my phone laying on the table and went to the store and when I got back my son had it playing around with it. You can use adb to push a Rom to your phone in twrp I believe.
in Command Prompt,
type "adb push ROM.zip /sdcard/ROM.zip" replacing ROM with the EXACT name of the ROM file and including the .zip piece on both ends.

Ok. So in twrp go to advanced and choose adb sideload. Swipe to enter sideload mode.
Put the Rom you would like to be running in your fastboot/adb directory. Open cmd prompt to that directory and issue the following command ..
Adb sideload nameofrom.zip
Of course using the actual name of your Rom zip instead of nameofrom.zip.

You have to root either way. You will need the weaksauce method of Firewater. You cannot downgrade unless s-off. There's an easy fix for your current Rom too.

Tell me where in my instructions I mentioned your SD card? Do you want a working phone or not?

It's wanting me to root but it can't find the file. Can't figure out why it's not reading my sd card unless it needs to be formated to fat32

Fat32 or exfat. But that's not a problem.
Did you sideload a rom and if so which one?

Just hit do not install. Get back the the advanced screen and sideload a rooted rom already.
Question, since I don't believe your kid story and want you to come clean so we can help you much faster....
Did you manually flash the firmware update today and this was the outcome?
Note...I'm not going to answer your pm.. Either come clean with what you did here and we will get it fixed up right way or stop asking for help and pm'ing other members.
None of us have time for people who don't shoot straight and follow instructions.

I gave you instructions how. Sideload the last rom you were using with my instructions. You don't need a functioning SD card to do so. It will send the rom to your phone from your PC via USB and flash it for you.
